I was recently visiting friends in Seattle and had the opportunity to go whitewater rafting. Initially, I was a little skeptical since I had not been whitewater rafting since I was a child, not to mention the thought of possibly falling into frigid water. However, I am so glad I went! We were met at the Sauk River by Luke and he immediately put us at ease. He has such a profound respect and appreciation for the river sprinkled in with just the right amount of fear. He conveyed that fear to us through the safety talk, going thru all the potential "worst-case" scenarios and explaining how to react in those situations. The majority of our group were newbies at rafting and I can speak for the group in that we felt in great hands after the safety talk. We suited up with the gear provided by Luke.... helmets, life jackets, wetsuits, and splash jackets. Then we all boarded the raft and listened to Luke's instructions on proper paddling techniques and the importance to following his commands while on the river. Now it was time for the fun to begin! The scenery was stunning and the sense of excitement was palpable. The river is a Class III so there were some challenging moments but Luke guided us thru these with ease. Thru these challenging moments there was no real fear of getting thrown off the raft. However, we did get hit with our fair share of frigid water, which is to be expected. When Luke wasn't guiding us thru tricky rapids, he was very engaging and shared his knowledge of the river and the surrounding area. I didn't know the majority of the people in my group but we immediately became friends. Rafting heavily relies on a team approach as you have to work in connection with the others to get the raft where it needs to be. That being said, don't be afraid to go if you don't have a group together. I would highly recommend Triad River Tours for your next river outing. It was such a great experience! read more

We have rafted with Triad twice this season and had great experiences on both trips. The guides (Josh on Sauk and Brandon on Skykomish) were competent,lots of personality,and safety first.And both Josh and Brandon were also very skilled at positioning the raft to get maximum thrills(and wet) out of each rapid.During quiet times on river Josh and Brandon had rafting stories,local history/geology facts and pointed out views/sightings(although how they made that bald eagle fly over us so low I haven't figured out ) Triad was easy to do business with and prompt with communication and answered all my analytical questions..Thanks Luke.Also Thanks to Kenny who was second guide on both tours and handled wet suits etc.Next raft trip will start with contacting Triad.Thanks guys. PS witnessed their commitment to safety first hand as after completing the biggest rapid on Skykomish we waited for 2 river kayakers behind us.One of them "wiped out" so he went one way and kayak another.One Triad raft retrieved his kayak(with the river current who knows how far that would have gone) and one raft picked up the kayaker who had made it to shore then reunited kayaker and kayak. read more

I just recently experienced my first white water rafting trip, and I had an excellent experience with Triad River Tours. Our guides on the trip, Luke and Nick were amazing, both fun and very professional. In addition, they really took the time to explain the safety precautions, which is something I highly value. Before the initial trip I definitely had some reservations about rafting but after listening and being actively involved in the safety training my mind was definitely put at ease. I also appreciated the realism the company provided. They did not try and sugarcoat the fact that I could fall out of the raft or be injured but instead provided me and the other guests with the tools and confidence to be safe if this did occur. In addition, the trip was very affordable, and worth every penny. I truly had a great time and I am looking forward to more trips in the future. I can't swim and when I was invited on a trip to go rafting you can believe I was terrified. But Luke was wonderful with explaining everything and definitely made me feel like even if I fell out I would be ok and might even enjoy it. He definitely knew his stuff and is clearly an experienced guide. I would highly recommended Triad to anyone regardless of experience level. I never once felt scared on the river and loved the rush I got when going through the rapids. They provide wet suits, helmets and splash jackets. Make sure you wear the splash jacket, it keeps you dry and helps keep some of the wind from hitting your skin. I would probably recommended wearing some spandex leggings underneath the wet suit with an under armor top. I just had my bikini under buy an extra layer under the jacket wouldn't have hurt. Also be prepared for your feet to get wet...you're white water rafting...so clearly that will happen. Have fun and be prepared for the adventure! read more

Triad River Tours greeted us today with sun in the air, equipment laid out ready to go, and a boat fully loaded with Paddles to ride the rapids!!! This organization is a hard working experienced bunch taking our safety into full consideration and making us fully aware of the river before one step was placed in the boat. Today I took a friend of mine that could not swim. She was excited and ready to go and put her trust in the hands of Triad River Tours. Right now she sits at home as I am not full of appreciation for the River and for Triad River Tours. I have reviewed them on here before when I went alone. Triad River Tours is excellent! I've been rafting in multiple countries and this outfitter by far has the most competent guides. They provide a very thorough and informative safety talk. They are able to find the balance between being informative while also making rafting accessible to the beginner. The boats are solid and guests are equipped with high-quality life vests, paddles, and helmets. The Skagit river trip is a great introduction to rafting, to get down the basic skills and develop good habits from the get-go. There are definitely some good views on this trip!! If you want to challenge yourself a bit more, Triad runs Sauk River trips that will help you develop your technical skills. I would certainly go with Triad again, you're in good hands. read more

My wife and I were 65 year old newbies to white water rafting. Luke was extremely thorough, careful and respectful talking with us about what we would be getting into. His associate, Josh, found a creative way for us to give it a shot with a degree of risk we could handle. We did it! And we both stayed in the raft for the whole run. Luke was very encouraging. He has a way of teaching that affirms while it instructs. He and Josh had a lot of fun banter and were both fascinating people to visit with. The river was - Wow! All aspects of our trip down the Skagit river this past Saturday were amazing. From their well designed website that is totally useful, to the call from the company the day before our trip, their customer service was above and beyond. It was pouring rain, but we had a great time! Triad is a class act--the guides are professionals and they really know their stuff. Luke was a lot of fun and had some great stories to tell. We were all really glad we ended up in his raft. We felt like safety was a priority here but it didn't get in the way of having fun. We were on the Sauk and it was cold and challenging--the information the Triad website is accurate so pay attention and pick a river that suits your ability! Highly recommended. read more

Kudos to Luke (our awesome tour guide) for providing a fun and engaging trip down river. Both my father and I were extremely satisfied with our experience. My son and I spent Saturday conquering his fears and the Sauk river. The whole crew was patient, kind, easy going and made you feel completely safe. The kids (8,7) did not want the trip to be over! Neither did we. Safety was a huge priority but it did not deter from the fun. This is a great way to see nature in this part of the state and get the feel for rafting. We are going to do more because Luke and crew made it so approachable. read more
