This is a review I posted a few years ago in Google maps: ------------- I needed to get a suit heavily altered for a wedding, and even though I procrastinated taking care of this until a few days before the event, Elizabeth made it happen! The prices were reasonable compared to a few other places, and she really knew what she was talking about--as you can tell from her website, she has been doing this for a while. I wouldn't recommend getting something altered that late (in the event something goes wrong), but I would highly recommend this place! I will surely be bring all of my clothing there in the future... ------------- Fast forward to today, and I am still 200% satisfied. Have taken several articles of clothing to Elizabeth and her team has always done a great job. This past Saturday was one of the greatest displays of customer support I've ever experienced -- it was 3:45 PM on Saturday, and I just realized I forgot to get a dress shirt's sleeves taken in. My flight to India departed at 9AM on Sunday, so if I couldn't find a solution I was SOL. I called TT, and although hesitant at first, Elizabeth said to bring in the shirt ASAP and they would do it. I showed up at 3:55PM, she took some quick measurements, and was DONE within 15 minutes. To boot, she only charged me $15! Obviously it was a quick job, but the same price for handling on such short notice and after they closed? Mind. Blown. TT for life. read more

By far, Elizabeth is the best in town and her prices are reasonable. She is capable of complex jobs such as tailoring 2 very expensive wedding dresses for me (got married twice-one out of country and one in Texas) and she did a fabulous job on both of them. She was able to successfully tailor my dresses designed for a 5' 8'' model to fit a 4'11" gal and still not lose any of the intricate detail of the dresses. She also tailors simple items such as broken zippers, pants hems, etc with no problem and is fairly quick about it. Sometimes will finish it while you wait!! There is a bridal store upstairs and she gets quite busy during wedding season so she might not be able to turn things around as fast as usual during wedding season but her work is always impeccable. And follow her advice-she usually knows what she is talking about-even down the what shoes looks best with your outfits! :) read more

Elizabeth is hands down the best. She's so skilled at tailoring and her prices are extremely reasonable. She's done regular clothes for me, and my wedding dress. Can't recommend her enough! When I took her my wedding dress for alterations, I had no idea the construction of the dress would require such extensive reworking. In addition to taking in the sides & sewing cups in the bust, the hem turned into quite a project. She literally took off each layer of the tiered lace, repositioned it, redid the gathers, and put it back together again, so that the layers would gradually narrow. It took a little more work than she initially projected, but Elizabeth refused to charge me more than the initial quote. After three fittings (she is a perfectionist!) it fit *like a glove* ... and the french bustle she made for the train -- WOW. She fashioned it with a dozen hidden snaps -- it was so beautiful. Unfortunately my dress got a small rip at the wedding (too much dancing!) and Elizabeth repaired it no charge -- so sweet. I've also since taken her a few other regular clothes for alterations ... pencil skirts, trousers, etc. I lost some weight and she salvaged some nice work clothes for me by taking them in a full size. If it doesn't fit perfectly, she makes adjustments until it does. Can't recommend her enough! read more

Triana's is the best! I've been very happy with the work they have done. There was one time my jeans where not ready when they were suppose to be and they refused to charge me anything as a make good, which was in my opinion above an beyond what I would have expected. Other then that one time everything has been ready on time and looked great. Quality work and excellent customer service! I had a bridesmaids dress from BHLDN that I needed hemmed, so I took it in on a Friday morning and was able to pick it up the next Tuesday afternoon, as I was leaving on Wednesday. Triana Tailors was very professional, although I felt a little rushed and not particularly welcomed -- then again, it may have just been a consequence of how busy they were as I could see racks and racks of clothing in the work area. I appreciated that they didn't require payment up front or even a deposit, although when I picked up my dress they were working kind of down to the wire (they told me to pick it up at 4pm but weren't done yet when I called around 3:50pm to check and they close at 5:30pm). It was also kind of pricey (~$63) but my dress did have three layers, and the quality of work was excellent. For the professionalism and quality of work, I would return to Triana! read more

This place was fantastic! I was really nervous about my wedding dress. I bought it in Chicago and was getting married in Michigan, but I wanted to get it tailored in Austin because I live here and it would be easier to do fittings closer to home. My fittings were stress free, and they did a beautiful job with my dress! My husband also needed his tux altered, so I told him to bring it here. Of course, being a boy, he waited until the last minute. They fixed it quickly, and it looked perfect! He had the jacket altered so that it had a slimmer fit, and he even had the shoulders taken in half an inch on each side. Came here a lot in college and after graduating, I moved out of Austin. I was going to be in town for a day trip and needed to get two jeans tailored. The day before, I called to ask how quickly they can turn things around with the given circumstances and mentioned how much I loved going to them in the past. They said they can get the jeans done in a day, and they did! I told them I'm driving through Austin in about a week so I could pick them up then but they insisted on being able to finish them within a few hours of dropping them off. If you're looking to support a small business while in need of tailoring, I highly suggest this place! They know exactly what they're doing and they're super nice! read more

I emailed Elizabeth Triana in a panic because my wedding dress arrived and I absolutely hated it! The fit was all wrong and it was way too pouffy. Elizabeth calmly assured me it could be fixed and she removed some of the poof and fixed the fit. She was very helpful in making sure the dress was perfectly fitted for my bridal portraits (when I had a scheduling conflict, she even offered to do any last minute alterations the day of the portraits). I also lost 20 pounds from when I bought the dress and she made it fit perfectly. Highly recommended. I even took a sundress here to be altered due to the weight loss and was very pleased with the fit of that as well. I doubt they're the cheapest alterations place, but I believe they were certainly worth every cent and I would probably even pay more for how amazing they made my wedding dress look. I would take more clothes here to be altered if I were located closer to Austin. If I have something important that needs to be altered, I'm pretty sure I'd make a trip to Austin just for that. read more

I got my wedding alterations done here within 6 weeks of my wedding and the staff is very kind and professional. They did a great job tailoring my multi-layered, lace strapless dress to where I didn't have to pull it up once the whole night of the wedding, even after dancing and hugging all night. The turnaround time was about 4 weeks which included 2 fittings (they took in several inches of fabric). They worked with the lace tool to make a beautiful bustle rather than bunching it all up and making it stick out awkwardly. The bustles lasted all night too. These alterations were pretty pricey (high end of average), but well worth it. As per other reviews, they don't answer their phone/voicemail very well. Make an appointment for your bridal gown fitting! Highly recommended! read more

I went here today after having a bad experience elsewhere, where I was told that my wedding dress was going to need a lot of work. The staff at Triana's was very helpful, took their time teaching my friend how to correctly corset the dress, and then proceeded to tell me that my dress did not need any alterations at all! They did not charge me for their time and even turned down the tip that I offered them. While I have not had any alterations done here so I can not speak of their actual work I can speak of their customer service and say that I was "wowed!" I took my wedding dress in and unfortunately they wanted to charge $800 for the alteration, which was nearly four times what I paid for the dress. I thought it would be simple to alter, because it only had two layers. However, it did have some patterns on it. I ended up taking the dress to Alterations by Lidia. She gave me several options at varying price points. Ultimately she convinced me it would look ok to hem the bottom of the dress and the total came out to a little over $200. The dress was beautiful and I received so many compliments. Glad I did not pay $800. read more

I'd give them five stars for customer service as the women were very kind and inviting! They certainly knew what they were doing, too; very knowledgeable and educated in their field. Unfortunately, there was no way I could afford to have them alter my wedding gown. The cost, quite frankly, was absolutely outrageous! $800 to alter my dress which included taking in the sides half an inch, sewing cups into the breast, inserting four bones around the waist for added support, and a french bustle - $460 to take in the sides alone!! I work at SPRING FROST Boutique, the business down the road from Triana, and we use these gals as our go-to tailors for everything from buttons to gown alterations. They're the first tailors we recommend because we know they do an excellent job. Basic hems are typically around $20, much less than other tailors in Austin... and they're pretty quick on turnaround if you ask them to be! I also went to them for my wedding gown's alteration.. like any bride I was nervous to have it manipulated and changed, but Elizabeth and her team definitely came through for me! Like other reviews, I can corroborate the amount of fittings it took to make it perfect.. However I'd rather go through 50 fittings than have an ill-fitting wedding gown on the day of my wedding. Also I had them alter it in less than a month, which is doubly nervous-making! But they did a beautiful job.. The dress had to come in several inches and up about a foot! They were careful with the applique and even added boning to the zipper in the back to make it lay flat. I'm not going to say they are the cheapest option in town, but I think for something this special you should leave it to the pros at Triana! read more

I'm not sure if 'rude' is the right word. maybe brusque? whatever it was, it's clear customer service is not the priority. upon arriving, I went to change into my wedding dress, and my mom whispered that it smelled slightly like Indian food, and indeed there was an oil-like smell (maybe it was just that day?) I figured my dress would have time to air out if needed and went ahead with the fitting. triana directed while her assistants pinned, and pinned incorrectly I might add. at one point, triana came over to correct the girl and almost snapped at her in front of me. when they were pinning my reception dress, they recommended taking in the whole thing instead of just the strap (which I wanted). when I asked the cost, triana said she would write everything up. when the pinning was done, I changed back into my clothes and then received the final tab. $180 for a FRONT HEM (i.e. HALF HEM) of a simple chiffon and silk beach wedding dress. I understand the skirt is three layers, but they cannot be serious. it has ZERO ornamentation. the story was only worse from there. another $30 to sew in bra cups (which I'd brought with me) and $15 to change a strap to elastic (???). total estimate = $225 for a dress I'd paid $350 for. absurd. alterations to the reception dress weren't any better. I think it was either $40 or $60 to take in the entire thing when all I'd requested was the strap shortened. when I questioned the price, triana spoke up. she said the cost wasn't based on the price of my dress (understandably so) and that I was welcome to go somewhere else, but she fully expected I'd return - either because her price was best or because someone else would ruin it, and when I did, I'd be required to pay her another $20 for the additional fitting. seriously?! note that in all of this, there was NO EXPLANATION of WHY the costs were what they were. I immediately left and called David's bridal, where they estimated the same hem from $90 - $125. ultimately I wound up at Lupee's house, where I found extensive explanation of what needed to be done and a $125 price tag. the dress has been hemmed to perfection, and I'm happy to say that triana was dead wrong. I'm just sorry I had to deal with her snobbish attitude in the first place. read more

Pricey and refused to alter the way I wanted my clothes to be. I understand her hesitation since she is a professional- but I had my reasons as to why I wanted my clothes a certain way. When I insisted that I really needed the clothes altered the way I described it rather than the way she advised, she hiked the price up to 40% more. In the end I gave in. I wanted to support the business since it's clearly family owned (you'll see how obvious when you enter and see them sewing away right in front of you while you get fitted). But will definitely not be back because of the pricing. read more

I cannot remember how I found Triana's - possibly a list of recommendations here on Yelp but anyways, I found them, used them and now it's time to review them! I've been thinking for years about getting my jeans hemmed. I'm a girl with the typical issues of buying a pair of jeans because they fit nicely but are usually too long. For years I have tucked them over or just cuffed - but finally, it was time for clean, crisp well-fitted jeans. I called and asked how much it would be to have jeans hemmed. Apparently there is "original" hem which is where the cut the jeans and sew the original bottom of the pant on (apparently some people like the look of the bottom of the original jeans) or regular which is where they cut and hem but don't worry, they match the thread color. Over the phone I heard $6.50 for regular/new him and $22.50 for original. WOW what a price difference - and what a sticker shock I had after getting the total for my jeans. Turns out the price was $16.50, not $6.50. Honestly I wish I had shopped around for other prices but at the time I thought $6.50 was a steal but I had already tried them all on and got them all sized by the time I was corrected with $16.50 - oops. All in all I am very pleased with the work they did. I got all 5 pairs back as promised by the next Friday by 4PM. A little disappointed in myself for not seeking other prices to see if I could find somewhere cheaper but the work was done and it was done well. I had a beautiful vintage dress that was too tight through the bodice. Having never used an alterations/tailor since high school prom, I put off finding one, for fear it would be a big hassle, or too expensive, etc. When I finally came to Triana's, I wished I had found her a year sooner! She asked what I needed, then expertly undid a couple darts in the back of the dress before asking me to go try it on. I tried it on, and it fit. She said she had already taken out a couple inches while we were chatting. So it needed nothing else, and she didn't even charge me. During the fitting the seamstress kept quoting super high prices and then waiting as if she as hoping it would make me change my mind. She also wouldn't listen to anything I was saying. Triana's tailors is awesome! This was my first time getting any kind of alterations and I needed 3 pairs of expensive slacks hemmed drastiscally because I'm short. They were very helpful in explaining what needed to be done, as well as explaining the prices for the pants (which were reasonable to me about $12 per pants). My favorite part was that even though I wasn't needing them back right away, they insisted they would have them done by the end of the day! Sure enough in less than 3 hours they were done and they fit perfectly! This place has great quality work and friendly customer service. They did a beautiful job on my wedding dress! It is nerve-wracking to leave your newly purchased wedding dress with strangers, but they took good care of it and it was very affordable! I will agree that I had 4 fittings, but over the holidays, the fit would change. The owner turned around the last fitting overnight for me, the week before the wedding, so I wouldn't worry. So nice. The place seems specialized towards wedding dresses, but does a fine job with men's tailoring. Triana does a great job of listening to what you want while also applying her own expertise.I've done business here several times and had a good experience and a good result every time. Their leatherworking does seem limited. At least I wasn't able to have advanced alterations done. However I had some minor work done on a pair of leather gloves. It was a quick 2-5 minute job and they didn't charge me! I guess patience and politeness goes a long way. Sometimes they're so busy they have a few people waiting to have their stuff worked on, so call and check to see how busy they are before you go. I failed to do so a few times and ended up waiting 15-30 minutes as a result each time. read more

My daughter found a vintage dress that she loved and wanted to wear to an event but it needed altering. It was going to be complicated... making the bodice shorter and the taking the bust in, reattaching the gathered skirt, etc. They did a fantastic job. The dress fit like a dream. It was $45 and I thought totally worth it. If you just need pants hemmed or something simple, you could probably find a cheaper place, but if it's something really special, bring it here. :) They were also really lovely to work with.
