Four years ago I cracked my tooth on a roughly chopped piece of meat (bone). This was especially…read moredistressing because I'd avoided going to see a dentist for about 17 years. Yeah, I'm aware that was a horrible idea but my whole youth dentists would pump anesthetics into my gums that didn't work. When I complained I was given more of the same ineffective drug or ignored. With memories of sitting in a dentist chair with tears streaming down my face from the very present pain of a drill I wasn't looking forward to dealing with that again. A co-worker recommended I try Lane and Associates off of Wade Ave. There was no denying I had to get the cracked tooth taken care of so I made an appointment, asked for prayers, took a sedative and went. Like no lie, I asked my PCP for anxiety meds specifically so I would go. He thought I was kidding until I started panicking that he wasn't going to give them to me. I made my husband take time off from work to accompany me. With tears already streaming down they took x-rays and examined my tooth. I was so obviously terrified that the dentist examining me didn't think he could work on me and considered sending me to a real sedation specialist. He asked me if I thought I could keep myself together during the actual drilling and filling of the tooth. We discussed my issues with anesthetics and worked out a plan and some hand signals so I could communicate if I was ok or not once tools were in my mouth. We set a future appt for the actual drilling and because of how patient, accommodating, and understanding he was I actually went back. He placed me on nitrous oxide for a full 30 minutes and finally we began. He didn't use any of the anesthetics I had told him didn't work. He took his time. My tooth was fixed and it was my first positive experience with a dental office. I can't say I was totally over my dentist fears. It was another year and half before I went back; knowing a decade and half of avoidance had led to cavities. I had 5 cavities to address. I took my mom this time. We broke up the fillings into 2 appts. The dentist (a different one) and I figured out (again using hand signals) that no anesthetic fully works for deep drilling but I can handle it if we take a few breaks for me to collect myself. It wasn't even about my pain threshold it was about being heard and respected enough to be given some measure of control in these appts. I've made and kept every 6 mth appointment since then. A year ago I began foregoing the sedatives (oral and gas). 6 mths ago I went to the dentist by myself for the first time EVER. I can't say enough how much I love this dental office or what a positive impact they've had on me. Everyone that works here has been amazing. Dentists, techs, and hygienists. I can't recommend them enough. They literally redeemed the entire dental experience for me.

WHAT EVER YOU DO NOT GO HERE…read more I took a chance these guys as a new dentist after moving to raleigh. I knew I may have an issue or two but thank god I didn't let these money grubbing losers actually do anything to my teeth, because first of all: the cleaning: took maybe 15 minutes MAX. that was my first red flag... then, they told me I had SEVEN CAVITIES. SEVEN. this absolutely ruined my day. I was freaking out, and they were jumping at the bit to charge me 1000s of dollars right there in the chair and get to work right away. In addition to hundreds of dollars for a tiny dot of dental glue for my retainer (takes literally 15 seconds). I decided to go get a second opinion from my original dentist back home who I trust dearly, and only had TWO. Lastly, my trusted dentist emphasized how bad, and lazy of a job they did on not just cleaning my teeth, but even taking my X rays. Save yourself from these looser messing up your smile, and charging you thousands for it. Horrible that these places exist.

I love Dr. Walton! She's been with me every step on my double-jaw surgery journey for sleep apnea…read more I initially went to her for aesthetics - Invisalign for a teeth alignment and to help with my anterior open bite. During that process, I was also working on sleep apnea and failing CPAP. Apparently double-jaw surgery is a highly regarded although intense surgical option for sleep apnea if you're a candidate. Ended up pivoting that way and changed Invisalign to braces and Dr. Walton helped me find some great surgeons. It was a long process but I'm so grateful!! I'm 10+ weeks post-op and it's been incredible. Still have several months of braces but hopefully will be down with them this year!

I shopped for several options and while I didn't go with the least expensive option, I did chose Dr. Walton because I felt confident in her abilities and she seems honest and caring. Her practice is modern, clean and runs on time. It is conveniently located off Oberlin Road near Cameron Village with its own dedicated parking lot. They also send text and email reminders of appointments. I'd like to see a more personal touch from the rest of the staff. Sometimes they don't even explain what they are doing as if I can read their minds or I don't need to know. I am not finished but am thrilled with the results so far and the payment plan is greatly appreciated.
