Then they tried to quote me nearly $400 for two deep cleaning visits and did not use my insurance to cover the cost. I was in the office explaining that I was only a few weeks pospartum and could not afford to spend that amount I even begged to do just a regular cleaning, but they claimed they could do it because they didn't have time and couldn't in good consciencedo a regular cleaning when I needed a "deep cleaning." I was in the office crying to my husband over the phone, not knowing the whole time that my insurance would have covered it. When I went home, Without any cleaning or treatment of any kind, I checked my insurance and confirmed that perio maintenance cleaning was covered in my insurance and that they just did not apply my insurance correctly. I would have had to pay almost $400 for something that was already covered by my insurance for free. Then this morning I checked my dental insurance and they submitted a claim for a dental cleaning they did not perform. It is going to be a nightmare to sort this out with my insurance. WATCHOUT!!! THIS PLACE IS A SCAM!!!

This was after I had told them I hadn't been able to go to the dentist in quite some time so you would think they would take their time cleaning. Then I was told I had numerous cavities and rather give me care options or show me on the x-rays where they were they rushed me to schedule an appointment for two fillings that would be roughly $500 out of pocket. Thankfully I was able to obtain the x-rays they took and I'm going to show it to my family dentist and try to see them even though they are three hours away. I had a friend go and her experience was much better hence why I trusted going to this place but guess I got the wrong people I don't know.

Four years ago I cracked my tooth on a roughly chopped piece of meat (bone). This was especially…read moredistressing because I'd avoided going to see a dentist for about 17 years. Yeah, I'm aware that was a horrible idea but my whole youth dentists would pump anesthetics into my gums that didn't work. When I complained I was given more of the same ineffective drug or ignored. With memories of sitting in a dentist chair with tears streaming down my face from the very present pain of a drill I wasn't looking forward to dealing with that again. A co-worker recommended I try Lane and Associates off of Wade Ave. There was no denying I had to get the cracked tooth taken care of so I made an appointment, asked for prayers, took a sedative and went. Like no lie, I asked my PCP for anxiety meds specifically so I would go. He thought I was kidding until I started panicking that he wasn't going to give them to me. I made my husband take time off from work to accompany me. With tears already streaming down they took x-rays and examined my tooth. I was so obviously terrified that the dentist examining me didn't think he could work on me and considered sending me to a real sedation specialist. He asked me if I thought I could keep myself together during the actual drilling and filling of the tooth. We discussed my issues with anesthetics and worked out a plan and some hand signals so I could communicate if I was ok or not once tools were in my mouth. We set a future appt for the actual drilling and because of how patient, accommodating, and understanding he was I actually went back. He placed me on nitrous oxide for a full 30 minutes and finally we began. He didn't use any of the anesthetics I had told him didn't work. He took his time. My tooth was fixed and it was my first positive experience with a dental office. I can't say I was totally over my dentist fears. It was another year and half before I went back; knowing a decade and half of avoidance had led to cavities. I had 5 cavities to address. I took my mom this time. We broke up the fillings into 2 appts. The dentist (a different one) and I figured out (again using hand signals) that no anesthetic fully works for deep drilling but I can handle it if we take a few breaks for me to collect myself. It wasn't even about my pain threshold it was about being heard and respected enough to be given some measure of control in these appts. I've made and kept every 6 mth appointment since then. A year ago I began foregoing the sedatives (oral and gas). 6 mths ago I went to the dentist by myself for the first time EVER. I can't say enough how much I love this dental office or what a positive impact they've had on me. Everyone that works here has been amazing. Dentists, techs, and hygienists. I can't recommend them enough. They literally redeemed the entire dental experience for me.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. Dr. Joy has been absolutely amazing from day 1!…read more I was very reluctant to get my veneers redone mostly because, like many, absolutely hate having my teeth worked on and I wasn't mentally prepared for the process (but let's face it, was never going to be :). The day I walked into Crabtree Valley Dental, I was greeted warmly by everyone and one of the front desk staff even came out and MOVED her car for me because there weren't any parking spots left. At my first appointment, they gave me a questionnaire asking me how I wanted to be communicated with (ex. "just do what you need to do, I don't want to know", "tell me everything", etc.) which I now don't understand why all doctors don't do! I was then formally introduced to every single person I encountered from the tech to the doctor all the way to the billing person. Furthermore, what initially began for mechanical reasons has now turned into an entire transformation of my smile. Every step of the way, each team member I worked with encouraged me to not stop until I was 100% happy, including and mostly Dr. Joy. In the beginning I figured they were just being nice, but they were not. Dr. Joy was so invested in me being absolutely content and confident in my teeth and smile again. Somewhere along the way I decided to also get gum contouring and she personally called the periodontist on more than one occasion to make sure everything went well and I was taken care of. She was also in contact with the prosthetist every step of the way. The last thing I was worried about (and then I'll stop rambling) was the temporaries looking funny while the veneers were made. I was apprehensive about sharing photos yet because these are just the temps and I chipped one by accident, but attached is a before and after! I didn't have a great before pic, but the difference is amazing. If you're in need of any dental work, I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Joy at Crabtree Valley Dental.

I can never get through over the phone and give emailed 4 times now with an inquiry and no response. The last time I was there I waited half a hour after my appointment time for them to finally tell me they were backed up because someone had called out sick. My mom has had an equally terrible experience with their office staff texting her sensitive medical information. I'm bummed to switch my dentist because the doctors here are so great, but dealing with this office is a nightmare.

She's been with me every step on my double-jaw surgery journey for sleep apnea…read more I initially went to her for aesthetics - Invisalign for a teeth alignment and to help with my anterior open bite. During that process, I was also working on sleep apnea and failing CPAP. Apparently double-jaw surgery is a highly regarded although intense surgical option for sleep apnea if you're a candidate. Ended up pivoting that way and changed Invisalign to braces and Dr. Walton helped me find some great surgeons. It was a long process but I'm so grateful!! I'm 10+ weeks post-op and it's been incredible. Still have several months of braces but hopefully will be down with them this year!

I shopped for several options and while I didn't go with the least expensive option, I did chose Dr. Walton because I felt confident in her abilities and she seems honest and caring. Her practice is modern, clean and runs on time. It is conveniently located off Oberlin Road near Cameron Village with its own dedicated parking lot. They also send text and email reminders of appointments. I'd like to see a more personal touch from the rest of the staff. Sometimes they don't even explain what they are doing as if I can read their minds or I don't need to know. I am not finished but am thrilled with the results so far and the payment plan is greatly appreciated.
