I went to Renaissance after having a poor experience at another practice when trying to fix a chipped tooth. From the moment I scheduled my appointment with RDC I knew it was the place for me. I have been cavity prone my entire life - I had 10 cavities filled at 5 years old and have had more the 20-30 fillings since then and I have never had a filling break/become damaged until renaissance. I moved to Raleigh and was very impressed with the service at renaissance- I have had a lot of trauma at the dentist and they were very kind to me with my situation. They filled 2 or 3 cavities for me in April of 2023. I recently switched to a new dentist as I have moved again and 2 of the fillings (one that had already been repaired by renaissance once) were broken. I called Renaissance to see if they would fix the broken fillings and they said that since it has been over 2 years they will not go back and fix any of them. and again - I have NEVER had a filling break. I am wondering how many others have had this happen at renaissance. Disappointing to spend 1000s of dollars on dental care and not be able to fix mistakes made on your patient. I have been going to Renaissance Dental for a little under a year now and they are TOP-NOTCH! I make the commute from Greensboro because they are THAT GOOD. I went to an 8:30 appointment today which happened to open up because of a prior cancellation. I originally was not going in until August, but the team at Renaissance called me two weeks ago to offer me the spot. I wasn't able to see my friend Mary today, so I saw someone else. I forget her name, but she was new, really nice and new her stuff. The team here goes in-depth in your cleanings and ask you a bunch of questions so you get exactly what services you desire. If there is going to be an extra charge, they ask if you want it or not. Renaissance Dental will always be my dentist of choice. I found this dental office when looking online for great reviews and I'm so glad I made an appointment with them! They are so nice, and walk you through your bill when you go for your first appointment. Today, I got the day of my bi-annually cleaning wrong and they were able to see me. This was my first visit to the office, being from another state. Immediately when I walked it, I felt at ease. The decor was upscale but also gave a home feel. They even have massage chairs, which I had the pleasure of using. The check in was quick, the receptionist walked to the sitting area and checked each person in individually. After I was checked in, I waited less than 10 minutes until I was called to the back. The dental assistant was very friendly and also provided me with great information regarding my teeth and the x-rays. They offer great amenities to keep you comfortable while you are in their care. Oh my gosh ---- I can't even describe how amazing this dental practice is! I have been struggling with a painful tooth for over a year with my old dentist basically telling me I was inventing pain. Dr. Sonner not only listened to me & agreed with me, but was so thorough in explaining the facts & our options for treatment. This practice is geared towards educating patients (as well as pampering them), which is so helpful in understanding exactly what is going on with your body. I only went there once for basically an emergency visit when I was in town well before covid for work and debated leaving a review for a while but since they are listed as LGBT friendly on many sites I want to say that wasn't my experience. I love my dentist in SF so much that I make trips there just for my dental appointments and I care about my teeth. So I was very sad when I had a dental emergency while traveling for work. This place was recommended by locals and was so disappointing. From the start I was misgendered and when I corrected the person they acted like they didn't hear me. The three dentists appear very Stepford wives and I probably couldn't pick out the one I had from a picture of the three of them. The one I had kept me waiting and her solution to my issue was not what my dentist in SF recommended and my dentist, who is one of the best in the country basically had to redo the work. I don't know how bad dentists are in Raleigh if this place is considered good. They didn't offer any painkillers to prep for the procedure or for afterward or even gas during the procedure, I had to ask for it, do they really think a pillow and a blanket is going to calm my nerves? Then having to hear them talking about coworkers and other patients while I waited was not appreciated. The dental assistant was nice but I didn't care for the way the dentist talked to her. The decor is rather tacky and dated, think animal skin rugs and faux antiques not very modern for a practice that seems to focus mostly on cosmetic dentistry. They also seemed to think I didn't have money because they kept telling me how expensive things were going to be as if I hadn't made it clear that it' emergency surgery and I knew I would probably have to pay out of pocket. I will give them the benefit of the doubt that they are used to working with lower income people than myself and were not judging me based on my casual West Coast style or worse my ethnicity. However I did notice a very clear ethnic difference between who they had as patients and who was working as dental assistants. I did not feel made comfortable and then to find out from my dentist that they performed the wrong procedure was very disappointing. read more

Having made her first visit there only recently, my wife referred me here with nothing but rave reviews, and after taking my daughter for our first visit last week, I can tell you without hesitation that those reviews were understated. I started very fearful without the ability to go to an appointment without sedation, but I've actually now had two full appointments with nothing although I will use sedation if I need major work again. I came here as a new patient after moving from out of town within the last year. I've had uneventful dental visits over the last few years and was seen by my last dentist in Wisconsin about 6 months prior to this visit. Was seen by one of the dentists here and told everything looked great, no cavities, no crowns, etc... then proceeded to the "payment room" where I was shocked to learn that I "absolutely NEEDED" about $1500 worth of dental work done in the next few months. Admittedly I chose the worst plan for my dental insurance at my new job, so I asked if it would be possible to wait till later on in the year to have this work done once I had better dental insurance, and they told me they "couldn't in good conscience" recommend that given the "urgency" of the work needed, and proceeded to offer all sorts of payment plans. I ended up going to another dental office shortly thereafter for a second opinion, and lo and behold, that dentist could find nothing wrong with my teeth that necessitated ANY dental work at all. This all to say, proceed with caution in interpreting any claims they make of dental work you may "absolutely need." I am giving 2 stars as the office itself is very clean and staff were all friendly. read more

These Doctors really care about their patients!! Comfortable and relaxing from walking in to exiting. There are too many amenities to list, but you do have to ask or you can miss out. Some procedures are a bit pricey with my teacher insurance, but the Dr. spends a good amount of time with you. They address any concerns and give great tips for preventative care. WORTH IT !
