There were three dogs in the home when it happened. One of the dogs was also shot and killed. Chance and his brother Champ survived the attack and were taken to an animal shelter in rural NC where they have been for the last month. I felt compelled that I need to adopt one of the dogs so they would know love once again. A good friend of mine is looking to adopt Chance's brother. I reached out to Pamela after I had a disaster in trying to crate train Chance. She was able set up a consultation in a very timely matter. She was so kind and you can tell she really cares about helping Chance make the transition to his new home. I really can't say enough good things about Pamela, she is a special person for sure. She has helped lift a huge weight off of me knowing we can work through things with Chance as he gets used to his new home and his second chance at love in his life.

After working with Kassondra for four weeks, Julep has shown tremendous improvement on her walks and has gotten more comfortable with meeting new people and dealing with loud/scary noises. During our training, Kassondra was extremely patient with Julep, who often takes a while to warm up to people. Kassondra was also very patient with me as I was learning the proper ways to handle Julep on a leash. In the past, I had dealt with trainers who were not as patient, so working with Kassondra was a breath of fresh air. After each lesson, Kassondra would send a write-up with homework, which was a great way to get an outline of our session and what I needed to work on in between trainings. Kassondra also helped us work through some of Julep's separation anxiety issues and gave us some great resources to use on addressing this anxiety. Kassondra is extremely knowledgeable on dog training and how to handle reactive dogs with high anxiety and fear of new people. When looking for a trainer I talked to several local businesses/trainers, but after speaking with Kassondra I knew she was the pawfect match and would give Julep the support she needed! Melissa and Stacey were his primary caregivers. They looked after our sweet boy with such care, showering him with love and treats while we were at work. They always sent the sweetest pictures of him and updated us with how he was doing. On two occasions BCPS looked after him while we were out of town. They accommodated our timeframe requests for the number of visits we wanted him to have, administered his medication, catered to his picky eating habits, and showered him with lots of love. BCPS always had excellent communication and put us at ease when we were on trips. When our boy passed away last year, BCPS grieved along with us and sent the sweetest sympathy card in the mail. It meant so much. When the time is right, we will adopt another dog and will absolutely work with BCPS again. They are amazing.

Jerry offers something different: training based on body language. He taught us how to act in such a way that Maggie recognizes us as her leader and obeys because that is her dog nature. Sounds like magic but it actually works! We are still practicing, but the change in her behavior was immediate. Jerry gave us skills to use, such as a simple hand clap in Maggie's face, or an erect posture when giving commands, that have replaced the e-collar and treats. He really understands dogs and was able to teach us how to control our dog through a natural relationship. Highly recommend.

Before COVID, we did a lot of in-store shopping and since March we have transitioned completely to online order/curbside pickup. In-store experience: What we enjoy the most is the excellent customer service. We are first time pet owners and so when we first went into the store, we had a lot of question such as what types of treats might be good for our dog, what type of nail clippers to use and how often to get our dog groomed. We talked to multiple associates over various visits about our questions, and everyone was knowledgeable and happy to go to extra mile in helping us out. Additionally, the store is just fun to walk around. They have a great selection of toys, treats, collars, apparel, etc. They have many different bones/animal parts as chew toys for dogs; we enjoyed taking our dog in and letting him "choose" a bone. The store has most essentials in stock, especially when it comes to food, treats and toys. There are also grooming and training services available, though we have not used either due to COVID restrictions. Additionally, there is a veterinary clinic in-house; we visited them soon after we adopted our dog and were great for a basic visit though we have moved to a different vet now. There are cleaning stations around the store in case your pup has an accident while inside, which makes the experience a lot less stressful for those with young puppies. The last time we went inside the store, they had decent COVID measures enforced, such as social distancing when standing at the checkout line. Online order/curbside pickup: We have loved this option and hope that it will still be available post-COVID. For each of the 4-5 orders that we have placed online, our items have been ready for pickup in less than an hour. Upon arriving at the store, we park in one of the designated spots and call the store phone number. Someone hand delivers our items to our car, even tossing it in the backseat rather than to the driver to further minimize contact. There have been a few items which were listed as available online but haven't actually been available, resulting in a cancelation but thus far it has not been a huge issue for me. In these cases, I re-ordered the items online and received them within a couple of days. We look forward to continuing to shop at this Petco.

After only…read moreabout 2 minutes, the employee told me they weren't going to groom him because he seemed "mad" and shy. The thing is, he wasn't mad at all he was just shy. He's a dog, and it's completely normal for dogs to be nervous or shy in a new place with strangers. They didn't even try to work with him, calm him down, or give him a chance. They judged him almost immediately without making any effort. I completely wasted my time !! If you're not willing to at least attempt to work with nervous or shy dogs, then you shouldn't be working as a dog groomer. I would not recommend this location based on my experience.

We move out here and I take her to the Witherspoon PetSmart for grooming twice. The first time (Feb 2023) a gentleman groomed her. No problem. Was told she was a sweet dog. Picked her up today, and this short, obnoxious associate stated they will not groom my dog again because, get this, "she lays down while trying to groom her." They also refused to do her nails for the same reason. I contacted a groomer in Cary who said they'd never heard of that as a complaint. Even though it is much more, I'll be taking my girl to a professional groomer out here.
