This review is long overdue. We used Bull City Pet Sitting for two years for daily check-ins/potty breaks for our senior dog before he passed away last August. Melissa and Stacey were his primary caregivers. They looked after our sweet boy with such care, showering him with love and treats while we were at work. They always sent the sweetest pictures of him and updated us with how he was doing. On two occasions BCPS looked after him while we were out of town. They accommodated our timeframe requests for the number of visits we wanted him to have, administered his medication, catered to his picky eating habits, and showered him with lots of love. BCPS always had excellent communication and put us at ease when we were on trips. When our boy passed away last year, BCPS grieved along with us and sent the sweetest sympathy card in the mail. It meant so much. When the time is right, we will adopt another dog and will absolutely work with BCPS again. They are amazing. read more

Wow! Amazing experience! We usually take our dog with us when we travel, or leave him with family. But now he is senior and requires a bit more care, plus he hates riding In the car and the aforementioned family was coming with us on this trip. So we signed up with Bull City Pet Sitting. From the beginning, I was really impressed with the website- they asked so many pertinent questions! Things I never would have thought to share! Everything from nicknames to hiding spots to what day our trash pickup was! The owner Stacey came out to meet our dog and see our space. She was awesome, and I felt so comfortable leaving her organization in charge. Jenn was our assigned sitter and she went above and beyond! Our dog loved her (I could tell by the amazing photos she shared on every visit!) and she was great about communication. She took into consideration his special needs and cared for him so well! Excellent service! We recently used Bull City Pet sitting to watch over our elderly dog Wicket for a few days. He mostly sleeps all day, but does require a lot of attention being let out so he can use the bathroom and having his diaper bands changed in case he had any accidents. It was our first time using a pet sitting service and Bull City Pet Sitting was excellent. Jen was our sitter and she gave us constant updates on how our dog was doing along with pictures daily. She even took our garbage cans in for us and washed some of our dog's diapers when we ran out early. She was excellent and their services are highly recommended for pet owners in the area. read more

First, they come to your house and meet your furry family and show you their binder of proof of insurance and other important things you may or may not remember. Next, they come to your rescue when you lock yourself out of your house because they have your key. (Please don't abuse this! It only happened once; I promise!) Then, when you go out of town, they feed, walk, and cuddle with the cuties you left behind. They even send you texts and picture messages, and if your pet is extra adorable, they'll post a picture on Facebook! Finally, you come home to a little report about how everything went and how much they enjoyed taking care of your animal(s). For all the people leaving good reviews...try coming back a day early and see what happens. That's usually how you catch pet sitters being lazy. That's what I discovered when I used this service. Had pet sitting for my dog/cat about three years ago and wasn't impressed. We came back a day early to discover litter everywhere in the bathroom, a litter box that clearly hadn't been cleaned for days, and the two little plants that I had asked them to water dying of thirst. Making my cat go to the bathroom in a dirty litter box is animal cruelty. I also left a small hand vacuum plugged in literally next to the litter box for easy access for clean up. Instead I got week-old litter ingrained into the grout of my bathroom tile. That took months to get out because no one had kept up with cleaning the area for a week. Owner (Jen) was very nice at the consultation, and maybe she just had a lazy sitter (Shanna), but I haven't used them since. Remembered my experience when looking for cat sitting for the holidays, which is why I just posted this review three years later. Not taking the chance on them again this year. I no longer use any pet sitting services because this outfit caused me not to trust the people I pay to do their jobs. read more

I recently hosted my parents' dog at my house in Durham, and needed a dog walker during the workday. I'm so glad that I found Bull City Pet Sitting - I can't say enough good things about them. They were reliable and so flexible: I accidentally reserved their service a week before I needed it, and they were very understanding once this was discovered (the night before they were supposed to start!). I had a couple of last-minute adds when I had work obligations in the evening, and the accommodated with no problem! We have a unique situation where our two cats can't be together, and the day after we left somehow the door separating them was open. Melissa let me know right away and we got it sorted out. If you are like me, your animal is your child. BCPS first started visiting our home when our doggie was still a puppy. A rambunctious, crazy, full of energy puppy that had to pee frequently. The proprietors, Jen and Heather, came by our house to meet with us and the pup in person. They explained how their service operated and we apologized for our puppy trying to launch herself into their laps and lick their faces. It's almost 18 months later and we still love having this service. Our usual visits go like this: Spouse: Maybe we should have the BCPS come to walk the dog this week? Me: Sure, what days? Spouse: Tomorrow? Friday? Me: It's like 8pm, you better get on it. Spouse (online, filing out request form): I probably should have thought about that sooner. They always email you to confirm. Our dog loves the walker that comes by. They try to keep the walker consistent so your doggie gets accustomed to the same person I suppose. We have them walk our dog with our neighbors, if the scheduling works. The best part, they leave a note after every visit to let you know the important things (like bathroom habits, etc.) and that they spent time with your pet. We have also had them stay at our house to watch our doggie when we are out of town. I cannot say how much this service offers piece of mind for me. I get anxiety leaving my dog at the boarders when I am on long trips, having BCPS stay at the house removes that anxiety. Plus, someone is coming and going from our house. I cannot say enough great things about BCPS. If you are looking for people to treat your pet like they would treat their own, then these are the people for you. read more

Pet sitters don't get better than BCPS! I have a small cat who was previously abused - she can't stay in kennels because they upset her, so I was looking for a pet sitter who could come to my apartment instead. I couldn't be happier I found BCPS. Heather is the person I normally talk to and who normally comes to take care of Kate - she is just fantastic. Booking is easy and can be done right through the website (you can even select the time frame each day that you'd like them to come) and the prices are very reasonable. My cat has some issues (among them a nasty little attitude at times) but I've never seen her happier or better cared for her than when I come home after BCPS has been watching her. They always leave a little report about how everything went and are more than happy to text you and update you while you're out of town (also - they are ALWAYS easily reachable, which for a neurotic pet mom like myself, is a great perk). I've used BCPS for 2 years and can't imagine using anyone else. They have made it easy for me to go out of town knowing that my cat will be well cared for and loved and I can't thank them enough for that. read more

We have only used BCPS for overnight petsitting, but if they can handle my home for several days in a row, I have no doubt they can handle dog walks and afternoon visits! I have a zoo: two cats and two large dogs. Friends have offered to take care of them while I'm out of town, but I worry about my furry family being too much for any one person to handle. That is, until BCPS. I love that someone stays overnight in the house with them. It's comforting to know that our house isn't empty while we're gone, but more importantly, it is so nice to know that our animals are looked after, loved, and in their own home while we're away. Our two dogs are goofy, high-energy, and cuddle-craving. One is (almost always) an angel, but the other one is definitely a handful. When we get home after a trip, they are both happy, not at all stressed or nervous, and their routine is clearly intact. They actually appreciate the instructions I leave for them (even though they are obsessively detailed) and never make me feel like I'm crazy for worrying about my pets. Whenever something out of the ordinary happens, they let me know or ask questions. I love knowing that they don't assume anything and are more interested in doing it right the first time than guessing. You can't go wrong with BCPS. I love using Bull City Pet Sitting for my cats when I am out of town. They schedule the same sitter whenever possible so that your pet gets used to them. Shanna is our sitter and she's been great! She cleans the litter box thoroughly, leaving the room as clean as I do or perhaps more so (and I'm pretty particular about this sort of thing). She texts me to let me know how everything is going and alerts me to any issues (we have a roof that has leaked on and off). Unfortunately, our cats get spooked whenever we leave town, so they never make an appearance for her, though she says she has caught a quick glimpse of one scurrying down our hallway and a couple of lumps under our comforter. I think the prices are really reasonable, and when we've fostered kittens they have never charged extra for the fosters. I think that's awesome. I imagine all of the pet sitters with Bull City are excellent and recommend them highly. read more

I can not say enough about BCPS. They are AMAZING and worth every penny (although I think they have very reasonable prices). I am new to Durham, I moved here for grad school with my loving puppy. Since he's so tiny and the love of my life, I'm incredibly protective over him. I decided to contact BCPS because of their yelp reviews, and I am so glad I did. They come to walk my pup twice a week, and always leave me a note with how he's doing. They've sent me pictures and texts, changed their schedule to accommodate mine in as short notice as 24 hours on numerous occasions, and are always so kind about it. They always go above and beyond my expectations and ease my mind about leaving my pup for long days. My dog had to get surgery, and I asked them to come twice the next day and send me text updates both times (I know, I'm a little crazy) and they were so helpful and did exactly as I asked and more. They often even let me know what he was up to while they were there (which toys he was parading around, etc). They take great care of my puppy and are incredibly professional. It's obvious all of their employees genuinely love pets. If you have any doubts about hiring these guys, hopefully this eased your mind. Can't go wrong with them. read more

I'm not really a yelp reviewer (I can't remember the last time I wrote one), but after this weekend I feel compelled to write a review for Bull City Pet sitting. I was terribly nervous about going out of town for my first weekend after adopting a dog a month ago. Bull City Pet sitting came highly recommended, I really liked them when they came for a home visit, and they had great reviews so I went with them. Of course, I wasn't gone more than 12 hours and my poor dog stopped eating. Heather at BCPS was in constant contact with me via phone, email, text. I'm surprised she didn't send a carrier pigeon. Heather gave constant updates on her eating, dehydration symptoms, bowel movements, haha yes, everything a mother wants to know :). She even cooked rice and chicken for my dog in her own home to try and get her to eat something. She did everything I would have done for Abby if I had been there an more. Within a few short hours my dog's illness went from concerning to terrifying (still not eating and throwing up after drinking a little bit of water, severely dehydrated). Heather called me, picked up my dog, took her to the ER, and texted with me until midnight while I drove (sped) home. To say that BCPS went above and beyond would be an understatement. They were so thorough, thoughtful, and 100% reliable I couldn't believe it. Do yourself a favor and look no further--the folks at BCPS are pet sitting angels. I cannot thank them enough. It has been such a pleasure using BCPS for the past year and a half for our big dog. Pricing is great. Online system for requesting visits is excellent! Dog walkers and owner both go above and beyond when a problem arises. I had a sticky key that ended up not working and our dog walker took our big dog to her home and was willing to meet a locksmith later that day in our home. This kind of service is rare these days!! Initially I would worry about leaving our big guy, but now I am totally comfortable when we leave and know that he is in good hands. To me, that is priceless. Cannot say enough good things. I have been using BCPS for 15 years. When Jen and Heather started the business I was so impressed with their love of all pets and our pets! They have been with us through five dogs- RIP and now two new ones. I was worried about the new management since I don't know them at all. However, I have had the same assigned pet sitter, Melissa, for over two years. She is the best! She has helped with our new crew- a special needs pit mix, and a new pup with high energy. After a long extended weekend of travel- I came home to our pups who were relaxed and exhausted! I like the new updates after each visit. Not necessary but greatly appreciated to know all is good. The time to pet app is easy to use and to track your request, ask questions and see doggie updates including photos and pay your bill. I haven't noticed any changes with new management. I think heather and Jen left BCPS to capable hands. I have boarded during transition ( puppy phase) but I am glad no more boarding since home visits are the way to go! Heather and Co are really as good as it gets. We have been using BCPS for over 4 years for our cat. In that time, Heather and our cat have formed a wonderful bond. She has gone well above and beyond the call of duty -- she has even gone to the vet to pick up meds for our cat based on symptoms our cat developed while we were away. She has watered our plants, checked our mail, brought in packages, and kept an eye on the house, overall. When we started working with Heather years ago, BCPS was a fairly small operation, and we left or mailed checks. Since then, they have built a wonderful website and accept PayPal. They send confirmation and reminder emails, too. Runs like a well-oiled machine. We completely trust BCPS with our cat and our home. Jen & Heather were a god send during a very stressful time then. Since then, they do mid day walks for us, and have done many extended overnight pet sits for us. Been a client for several years. As much as possible, the same sitter is scheduled. My two dogs adore Shelley, she is excellent with them. When I come home, my dogs are happy, calm, the house is exactly the way it would be as if I'd been home, or better. The app and/or email communication is very good. Online booking, invoicing and payment are clear, easy and convenient. Always have had great communication with BCPS. But the best part is the dogs are happy, cared for, exercised. I've been using Bull City Pet Sitting for four years now. I have two dogs (for a time, that was three) and two cats and my house has been in various phases of construction and general upheaval for much of that time, our animals (including one of our cats) are always on a bunch of medications, plus, we don't have TV, so it isn't the cushiest of jobs. They are always reliable, sweet to the animals, and just an absolute pleasure to work with. They make a hectic work travel schedule possible, and they were also super-accomodating during periods when I was caring for a dying parent in another state and needed to take many last minute trips during the summer (of all seasons).
