I'd been here a couple times. Inspection and tires. I thought it was cool that it's a woman owned shop and woman mechanic. I wanted to support them for that reason. I brought in my F150 for brakes. I heard some slight grinding. They told me that the rotors, pads, and calipers were shot and it'd be around $1000. I told them to do the work. They called when it was done. I showed up and they claimed that the credit card machine was down and I'd have to pay in cash and also that it went over and I owed them $1200. I drove back to Carrboro to get cash, paid, and left. I got to the 1st traffic light and noticed the same grinding sound I brought it in with and drove back. They then told me the rear brakes were in the same condition and everything would need to be replaced. Another $1000. They fixed the wrong brakes in my opinion. I told them to do the work. The weekend came. They called me on Monday and told me they needed to buy a special tool because they couldn't get the hub assembly off and even came in on the weekend (they're closed) to try more without success. It's Wednesday now. They said it's done but that they had to charge me for the additional labor. Now $1400. I brought $1400 cash but argued that I wanted the $1000 they quoted. It got heated. She called 911 and the police came. I waited for them. We argued further. I wound up paying the $1400. I was also trespassed. I went to start the truck and they'd run the battery down, it was dead. They had to give me a jump start. As I'm about to leave she says, "oh by the way, the hub was damaged in the removal. It's leaking differential fluid onto the brakes so the brake light and ABS light won't go off. You'll need to get that fixed soon." I WAS FLOORED. I've been a customer for many years and have never had anything but great experiences with the owner and all of the employees. They are warm, helpful, personable, and honest. I drive past every shop in Chapel Hill and Carrboro to do business here (e.g., serious repairs, tires, inspections) and it's where I have my cars towed after breakdowns. I trust them with my new cars and jalopies alike. If they don't think you need to replace a part, they won't replace it unless that's what you demand. If you want to do business with people who will not rip you off and will do the best thing for you, this is about the only place in the area that has consistently met that description in my 14 years here. Finally, this shop has a very racially and ethnically diverse customer base. Over the years, I've sat in the waiting room with many Hispanic customers and people of color, all of whom were treated warmly and as equals. Dependable and good value. They've handled all my basic car needs ever since they opened -- tires, oil and fluid changes, inspections, brakes. I've used them for other repairs and work (axles, suspension, radiator) but occasionally I take the strange problems to the dealership. They've been better about fixing things the first time than any other mechanic I've used, but on a couple of occasions when something wasn't exactly right the first time, they've made it right. If you have any prejudices about female mechanics, set them aside. Kathy's been working on cars her whole life, and she's got as much experience as anyone. And the important thing is, they're honest. They won't upsell you or do unnecessary work. Edit: I saw a couple of bad reviews about work not getting done on time. Yeah, on a couple of occasions, something wasn't finished when expected because they got overwhelmed with other things. Just don't get mean with them (that's their one rule), and they'll get to it as soon as they can. Went here to rent a uhaul and it was a cluster of an experience. They didn't leave the key in the lock box like they were supposed to which means we did not get the uhaul we had reserved. Had to drive across town to another location to pick up a different uhaul. It was a huge inconvenience that was advertised as a hassle free 24/7 access experience. read more

Horrible. Absolutely horrible and racist. I've been here two times for quick tire changes. First time I came I got one of my back tires changed, not even 24 hours later, the tire popped off the rim. So like I said, first time. I thought to myself maybe it was my driving, maybe it was just a coincidence so I shook it off. A few months later while I was in the hospital, my partner went to get one of our front tires changed, one trip to the hospital and the tire popped off again. He was stranded off 15 501 around 9pm so he couldn't move the car and my car ended up getting towed because this place doesn't like Hispanics and purposely don't put the tire on the rims safety. I went back to try and return the tire and get my money back because we literally wasted over $200 just to get my car out. The woman kept saying it was my fault and my driving when this has not only happened not once, but twice. Not to mention they also charge about $40 for used tires. So pathetic and the woman didn't want to even fix the tire because she kept saying "your car is literally broken." I took my car to Chapel Hill Tire, Alfa y Omega tires and to a friend of mine in pittsboro and they all told me that she didn't put the tire on correctly and my car was perfectly fine. Please go to Alfa y Omega tires just about 5 minutes away, they do used tires as low as $20 and I never had an issue like this with them or any other mechanic. Let me also not forget to mention that the same woman told me that I needed to do a smoke test on my car that would cost over $700. When I took it to my general mechanic, he told me nothing was wrong with my car, and this was all the way back in May and my car is still fine. These people over price for shit you don't even need for your car AND do a HORRIBLE job at even changing a damn tire. They have no warranty on their tires. Hmmm I wonder why? Most mechanics do have warranties but these people don't? Please go anywhere else but here. One more thing, I'm Hispanic and I hate pulling out the race card but they talk to you like you're stupid and can't speak English when I speak English fluently, I felt so insulted over this whole experience and will never come back. read more

I went for a flat fix and inspection. Wouldn't fix the flat because they claimed the hole was too close to the shoulder. I would toss a coin on that one. They wanted to sell me another tire. Then, I waited an hour and a half for them to get the inspection done. And I was the only one there, no other cars in the bays. I used to go there before they changed hands. The other company was quick and good. I had not notice it was no longer Al's. Too bad. I will never go again. read more

I have been using this place for years because I like to use local and women owned business. They have always treated me well and did a good job on my repairs. The prices have been going higher than usual but i wanted to support them. Long story short they replace my timing belt and 2 weeks later it was smoking again. I checked my oil and it was very low so added some and the radiator reservoir was empty so I added about a cup of pink antifreeze. It was still smoking so I went back to ask them about it and told them I added fluids. They freaked out and said you can't add 2 different color antifreeze it turns it all to jelly and I would have to have my whole engine taken apart and have over $2000 work done. I asked some other people about this antifreeze mix and looked it up on internet. All i really needed was my radiator flushed NO BIG DEAL!!! I just told them dont do anything Ill pick it up. Well my radiator fluid was fine and other problem they told me about was untrue. I used to respect this place and the workers but now with never go back and if asked about them I will not recommend them ever!!!! Very hurt and disappointed in a women owned and run business. CROOKS!! I went there for an inspection on my 2016 Malibu and was told they failed my car because my new tires (less than a year old) were completely worn down and ruined because the struts were bad on my car. They said I needed to replace the struts of the front axle and back axle ($1500 job), plus I needed to buy 4 new tires. I left and drove 30 minutes to my friends house who is a mechanic and had him look at my car. My tires were in nearly perfect condition. My struts were also in good condition. Horrible! Had appointment, left the car all day for just tires they had on hand. They did not get to it cause as the old lady said they "got slammed". I said I don't care give me my key back, she tried to stare me down and pointed to a hand written sign reading "no mean people"! The service has gone down hill since John sold out to Mike. Had one tire pressure sensor replaced and it went bad about 30 days later and they had to replace it again. Had another tire pressure sensor go bad and the guy argued with me that his testing equipment said it was good and he didn't want to replace it, even though my dash instruments said I had no air in the tire. I told him to replace it, which was done, and the problem was resolved. I had the transmission flushed and the next morning I got codes saying the transmission fluid was overheating and the gear ratio was incorrect. The transmission also now had a problem called drainback. Back to them where they re-did the job. I still had the drainback issue where the transmission does not engage until 5-10 seconds after putting it into gear when it was cold. I found information stating this is caused by using cheap aftermarket parts. I talked to Mike about using Mopar Parts and he didn't want to, said he had already done the parts twice. After a couple of months where the drainback wouldn't go away I bought Mopar Parts at a cost of $208.00 vrs what the aftermarket parts cost at around $16.00. They redid the job for a third time and the drainback problem was resolved. Four days after that I got new tires and the tire shop discovered I had 2 missing lug nuts, one on a front wheel and one on a rear wheel. This came from the brake job and tire rotation Triangle had done at the same time they serviced the transmission. I let Mike know about the missing lug nuts and he argued that they hadn't done a tire rotation. I pointed out to him, on his invoice were charges for the brake job and oil change, at which time a tire rotation was also requested. Mike didn't respond. Sloppy work and cheap parts. read more

If less than one star was an option that would be my choice. Upon arriving at the Triangle Tire, was told it would take 15min and $35 for a replacement spare tire. We ended with, NO spare tire and more than $400 worth of damage, the police called, and myself passing out on the sidewalk because I have a chronic medical condition and the owner refused to let us pay for the spare or have our car off the lift for over 2 hours. The spare that they placed was originally zip tied under the car because they stripped the gears in the lift. The owner never once tried to handle the situation, the male Employee came out to bully my husband and myself. Everything is fully and well documented. Guess we will see them in court. I will go all over the county letting people know of the horrible experience I had here. The horrible customer service and the lack of knowledge they have to even change a replacement spare tire. Not to mention could have caused me to loose my life from preventing me to leave and recieve my medication and proper treatment for my condition!!!!! She cut the zip ties down and left the tire lift hanging, refused to even give us a zip tie after wasting our time, and damaging our property! read more

Scammed me out of $2,600. They gave me an original estimate of $1,100 for a new clutch. Then they called two more times to tell me they found something else that would increase the price. Estimate of $1,100 turned into $2,600. Three days later, the clutch went out again, leaving me stranded. I got the car towed to their shop, and they told me the clutch was fine. I got the car back and the clutch was fine, leaving me to think they fixed their mistake but wouldn't admit they messed up. But now I'm afraid to drive the car and will probably have another mechanic check it out. I could live with the possible bad work on their part, but their "too bad" attitude is what turned me off. read more

Absolutely blown away with the service I received this afternoon. I needed to find a used tire quickly and called many places, increasing the distance from RTP with each call. When I called Triangle Tire, they had the size in stock and were willing to fit me in immediately. I arrived after 3:30 and had a new tire on, balanced and was back on the road by 4:25. The price was absolutely unbeatable. Though I'm not excited for any future service for my car, when the next time occurs, I will come here first. read more

Went to the location to find used tires , seemed to have good reviews on line. Friendly staff and seemed very knowledgable . I started home when the TPMS light flashes on, I called and they asked me to come back. I went back they tested pressure and left again . 20 minutes later warning again came on , they said drive 50 miles Hondas reset. Started to work the next morning before I pulled into work my tire was flat . Called then once again and they did send someone out to change my tire and fix the tire that we later picked up . After picking up the tire before my husband got back to my work the warning light was on again . They are not knowledgable in Hondas and sensors. They also quoted a price for brakes @ 250.00 , Michael's in Siler City charged me half of what they were asking .. And I still have a warning light .
