--Part 1: I will update this review after repair work is complete. My parked car was recently hit and the driver left the scene. After leaving several messages and waiting three days for a return call from my dealer, I was finally able to talk with someone who informed me the earliest they could provide me with an estimate would be June 16th (today is May 12th). I immediately pulled up Yelp to check out the best reviewed body shops near me. As you can see, Hatley's was at the top of the list with a perfect score and some excellent testimonials. I called Hatley's and one of the owners answered on the first ring, and told me I could bring my car by anytime for an estimate. Even with the excellent reviews, I was surprised and wary at how easy this seemed. I drove my car over to the shop. I was greeted by Thomas (the owner) before I could even walk into the office. Thomas was so pleasant and started looking at the damage to my car right away. He asked a few quick questions, and then asked another mechanic if he could run an estimate on my car. This mechanic, Steve (actually the co-owner I believe), who was midway through painting another vehicle literally traded spots with Thomas, greeting me with the same extremely pleasant nature, and starting taking a look at the damage to my car. 15 minutes later I had an itemized estimate in my hands. Incredible! The pricing is extremely reasonable, but the professionalism and genuinely kind and honest customer service is what made the biggest impression. My mom and I brought my 2007 Toyota Prius into Hatley's because a piece of plastic had been partially dislodged and was hanging down from the underbody of the car. Michael (the estimator at Hatley's) took a look, explained everything to us clearly, and solved most of the problem on the spot free of charge in under half an hour. Rather than trying to upsell us on unnecessary work, he explained what the part's function was and helped find a simple fix that worked for us. He also helped walk us through ordering the necessary parts from the supplier and even offered to install them for free when they arrived. I visited Hatley's earlier this afternoon and I wish I could give more than 5 stars. For as long as I am in the triangle area, I will be a Hatley's customer -- let me tell you why. About two weeks ago I blasted my passenger side mirror off while backing out of a parking deck spot. The passenger side door was dented and there was some paint transfer from the concrete piling I hit, but the door works fine. I have an old car, I'm a grad student without an income, and I don't have comprehensive insurance coverage so I wanted to do the repair as cheaply as possible. I even bought a replacement mirror myself from a scrap yard to keep the cost low. Initially I contacted a chain body shop who gave me a 2k+ estimate for the full repair, and I made 2 trips out there over the course of a week before being told it would be another week before the mirror could be painted and installed. I ended up just asking for my mirror back and decided to check out Hatley's. In under 15 minutes they installed my mirror, gently buffed off the paint transfer, and quoted me for HALF of what the chain place had if I wanted to fully repair the door. If I'd wanted the power adjustment capabilities for the mirror that would have required taking the door apart, but he offered to install it without that just to get the car legal to drive. He clearly explained the details of what the full repair would entail, why it would cost what it would, and even some suggestions for what I could do to improve the appearance without the full repair. My 2016 Mazda CX-5 had damage caused by someone badly scraping my right front fender in a parking lot (leaving the scene without leaving a note) plus some small damage to the left rear bumper that had occurred previously. Incredibly nice staff. I was dealing with a scratch on the back of my car and the worker helped me by wiping off some of the scratch and then suggested that I spend $20 to get a touch up pen that would help me the rest of the way. This is a very professional body shop and working with them was a pleasure. They replaced my bumper and repaired the trunk lid, and were right on track with their estimate. They also repaired it in a timely manner and were completely transparent about everything they were doing. Also, and I feel this was very important: my passenger side door had a significant scratch in it from a few years ago, and before I could even mention that I wanted to bring it back to him to have him look at it later -- I walked over and saw that he had already touched the scratch up, without charging me for it, or even mentioning it. To me, that says a lot, and especially says that he really takes a look over the car and goes the extra mile to make his customers happy. They made the car look new again, and beat a competitor's price by half (In fact, while we were discussing the project, Steve knocked out one dent as we talked, and then announced 'that doesn't need fixing anymore.' Micheal is the son of the owner and he knows how to treat people well. My wife was 8 1/2 months pregnant and we needed the car back as soon as possible. I had just moved to Carrboro this past May when literally the day after I drove here a girl hit my car and knocked off my driver's side mirror and then not only scratched but dented the front left side. I was so distraught, especially since I knew it'd cost me hundreds of dollars to repair. A friend of mine in Chapel Hill recommended Hatley. I am so glad because Hatley and his crew did an exceptional job! I first took my car there to have it patched up while I was waiting for certain parts to come in. I would've been happy with some duck tape at that point because I was very self conscious of just having my mirror hanging there. But Hatley surprised me when he fixed the mirror so well that it never looked like it had been knocked off! The actual repair was far less than I expected to be paying and Hatley did a phenomenal job. The dent was completely fixed and the paint was touched up. When my car left his shop, it was as if I'd never gotten in an accident. And the price was very reasonable and much cheaper than if I had gone anywhere else (I checked). There is no where else to go. Strait forward, honest and up front, they go above and beyond just because its the right thing to do. Honestly, it feels like Hatleys would be right at home in Mayberry--that fictional Southern Andy Griffith town. When I came back to pick up my car, the crumpled bump on my fender had been fixed--even though I had gone in because the front plate under the car was falling off. When I asked him how much it would add to the cost Steve (I think thats his name) said "Oh thats okay, it wasn't a big deal, I was there anyway, I just heated it a little and popped it out." The dude wasn't going to charge me for it--and when I insisted on paying, he seemed genuinely embarrassed and walked away. I had to chase after him and tell him to buy his kid a present from me to get him to take the money. The guy obviously loves his kids. And his work. And his integrity. Don't go anywhere else. Super honest and down to earth people that do great work. I've had some paint work done on my 2013 BMW here and both times I was thoroughly impressed. The prices are extremely reasonable! Once I had some tree wax scrape of the clear coat on my hood and what some said would have been a $500 full redo of the hood, Hayley's was nice enough, and knowledgeable enough, to find an alternative solution and buffed it out and it was like new! I had a minor parking accident and took my car to Hatley's after comparing quotes from 6 different places. There was a misunderstanding with the quote and I got a quote for the wrong job. When Steve Hatley (the manager) found out, he took full responsibility and did a great job with my car. He apologized for the mistake, adding that having customers happy is the top priority of the business. Went there after KNS and another well known shop in Chapel Hill tried to take us to the cleaners for scrapes down the left side of my SUV. The other guys tried to replace EVERYTHING with new parts. All I needed was a rearview mirror, putty and paint. Hatley worked with me on price. Then gave me a reasonable date. They came in on time and on budget. Fantastic work. Can't say enough about this place. I stopped in to see if there was an affordable way to replace my side mirror and dent in the side of my car. I've had the car for 11 years and 150k miles and didn't want to drop too much $$ into it. Michael Hatley had the brilliant idea of screwing the mirror back in rather than replacing it. He also wiped off the dent with a special cleaner to get it looking much better. The kicker is he didn't even charge me anything for it! He fixed a dent for me once and didn't charge me a dime, wouldn't even take any money for it. Unfortunately, I put a very small dent in the back passenger door of my Jetta. I brought it to Hatley's and hoped they could give me a good price. I was quoted about $700 by a few other shops and was stricken by how much it would cost for such a small dent. An employee took a look at my car and said that it would be about $650 to make it perfect. But, he said he thought he could pop it out right then and there for free. He worked on it for about 5 minutes and there was almost no evidence of the dent. He refused to take any money for getting the dent out. I hope I never need to bring my car to a body shop, but if I do, it'll definitely be Hatley's. I had such a great experience with Hatley's. I had a dent in the side of my Hyundai, and when I drove over to the shop they gave me a quote on the spot. They replaced the door panel and did some other work to smooth out the side of the car, and the quality of their work was amazing. My car looks as good as new. Their prices are so fair and hundreds less than the body shops that exclusively work with insurance companies. If you have to pay out of pocket, make sure you go to Hatley's. They work with insurance companies too. Besides their low price point, they do a fabulous job. I had to have dents fixed on both front doors and decided to have an old dent in the hood fixed also. They painted the adjoining bumper for free just so it would look good. It is a pleasure to do business with them and I would never go anywhere else. I stopped in at Hatley's without an appointment. The young man who greeted me looked at my car on the spot and inserted clips that had been broken by the impact. He could have made me return for an appt for an estimate or for the repair, but he did the work on the spot. He could have milked my situation so as to make more money, but he did not. I'd punched a hole through the bedside of my worktruck while backing a trailer (doh!) and checked several local shops befor getting an estimate from Hatleys. While the other shops insisted I'd need a new bedside, which would cost several thousand dollars, Hatley assured me that the hole could be welded and repaired. When I got the truck back I was sure I'd still be able to see at least some sort of blemish but was amazed when I could see no sign of the hole at all. The price was thousands less than other shops quoted and the job was done very quickly.
