Our experience with Tribeca Pediatrics was limited to two visits over a 1-week period for our newborn son. Unfortunately, the dismissal and false reassurance we received preceded his hospitalization for respiratory failure. Our son had respiratory distress since birth and was initially diagnosed with Transient Tachypnea of the Newborn (TTN), which should resolve within the first few days of life. I am a NICU nurse, so I was able to recognize that something wasn't right. At our first visit, I raised concerns that he was still breathing fast and was reassured this shoudl resolve. These concerns, and his respiratory history, were not documented in his medical record. His notes also inaccurately described his delivery as uncomplicated and vaginal, when it was in fact an urgent C-section. We returned days later due to worsening symptoms, including persistent fast breathing, stridor with feeds, and intermittent cyanosis. Dr. Johnson dismissed these concerns, including a video showing clear stridor, which she described as "normal baby sounds." A few days later, when called the after-hours nurse line as his symptoms worsened, I was again reassured that "babies breathe fast," and the call was inaccurately documented as nasal congestion, which I explicitly stated he did not have. Despite their repeated reassurance, we went to the ER, where he was hospitalized for two weeks in respiratory failure, required prolonged respiratory support, extensive workup, and was discharged home on oxygen. We transferred care immediately to another local pediatrician office and experienced a night-and-day difference. If you choose Tribeca Pediatrics, be aware that concerns may be minimized, after-hours coverage is limited, immunizations are not required, and visits are very brief. When something is wrong, this can be a danger to a child's health and well-being. read more

Brought my newborn there for 2 visits already. Really love Dr. Moustofi! He is friendly, timely, and answers all our questions with patience. Very good beside manner. As a nurse, myself, I am always looking for these traits when it comes medical professionals. Tribeca Pediatrics (LIC location) also had immediate timeslots and availability for us, versus the other pediatric clinics in the area that did not have openings for weeks. They also have night phone hours and other locations are open at night / weekends. We appreciate the availability & proximity to our home. read more

First we have to say Kelly Covel is fantastic! From day one she has been wonderful with both our son and with us as first time parents. She has a very laid back yet incredibly knowledgeable way about her - which is exactly what we needed. She is fun and caring during exams and our son loves her. We never feel rushed and our questions are always answered without judgement. We highly recommend Kelly. Secondly, the team at LIC Tribeca Pediatrics are great. The front desk is friendly and helpful. Chelsea, who we see upon arrival is always lovely and thorough with updating our son's progress. We had been referred to sonogram imagining at Cornell twice and both times LIC TP had the paperwork/referrals sent over and the experiences where seamless. If you're new parents in the neighborhood, this office checks off all the boxes. Tribeca Pediatrics on call line is a good resource (esp as new time parents when "no question is a silly question".) The doctor got right back to us both times we called - once when our son had a fever after recieving shots, and a second time when there was blood in his stool. I had a medical emergency while out of state and needed my son's medical record. They put me on hold to put a $19 bill and then put me on hold again to talk to someone else to get his record. It took me almost thirty minutes to get his record during an emergency. Listening to their Hawaiian hold music during the hole thing. They are good doctors but holy cow are they crappy humans, risking a child over $19. To clarify we have spent thousands there and the bill wasn't overdue it was just from last visit. read more

Had to trek to this location when my 4 month old had a high fever that wouldn't break. The location itself is very nice and easy to get to by car or by train. Parking may be difficult but its def walking distance from the G train. We arrived at 255 on a Saturday for a 310 appt; on Saturdays, they close at 4. Usually, upon arrival you check in with reception and wait for your name to be called. The receptionist was talking to two prospective clients who were asking about newborn visits, etc . They didnt have a child with them, nor did they have a sick child with them- I too made this kind of appt before my child was born...over the phone. The receptionist gave these two parents her undivided attention and did not take a moment to check us in. We stood there for what felt like eternity before she checked us in. The two parents came back in for more questions, when another parent came to check in and she paused her convo with them to briefly check in the parents that just came in. That annoyed me. If I'm checking in for an appt, surely the parents there without a child can wait a little longer since my child is here and shes sick. We waited. And waited. And waited. It was 355 by the time we were seen and had the displeasure of hearing trash cans being slammed as they were cleaning up in preparation of closing while we were still there. I love the east Williamsburg location. This location pissed me off. I am grateful they were open for us when we needed them but I wish they had better service - the doctor did a quick exam; not very thorough and said to bring her back if she was still sick in 3 days. I love Tribeca Pediatrics! Dr. Binu Mathew is amazing and very patient and loving. The office itself is well lit, clean and kids-friendly. It is not too crowded as Long Island City is not too popular just yet. They open from 9 to 6 M - F and has hot line you can call in for any questions. Besides, they got a website you can register and get your visit history and appointments reminders. I would highly recommend to parents in the hood. read more

We started bringing our son here when he was a newborn at the recommendation of my OBGYN. The staff here is SO nice and friendly. We see Dr. Moustofi and could not be happier with him. He has plenty of gentle suggestions for new parents and is so warm and welcoming. Being a new parent is overwhelming and he put us right at ease. The rest of the staff is fantastic and very responsive. We've called a couple times with general questions and someone always gets back to us immediately. read more

We are changing pediatricians - our son has gone here since he was born because it was close by however over the last two years we have encountered numerous issues. 1. If you have a balance with them they will scream it as soon as you check in in front of everyone there how rude and unprofessional and it's without fail every single time 2. They let sick and well kids in the same waiting area twice I've had kids throwing up inches away or kids with snot literally running down there face playing with the toys near my son 3. Our son had a four day long high fever and the doctors and on call nurses literally refused medicine and said he has to come back in to get rechecked no I'm not a doctor but a four day long fever that won't break is cause for concern again treated so rude Don't waste your time there not to mention some of their new doctors are very condescending as well this practice is going down hill read more

I generally like this office. Scheduling can sometimes be a pain, and wait times can sometimes be long, but not any more than what you'd expect at a typical doctors office. That said, if you're new patient, make sure to ask who your appt is with. There is a nurse that works there, Kelly Kovel--she's pretty unfriendly and speaks in a very condescending way. She belittles any of your concerns and questions and makes you feel silly for asking anything at all. So, I suggest making sure your appointment is actually with one of the two DOCTORS at this location. read more

I got an appointment right away and I waited at most 3 minutes to see the doctor. I wish I had that now. The reviews for one star for not giving antibiotics for viral infections ?!? That's because antibiotics don't treat viruses. Just let the doctors do their job. It takes 7 years to become a pediatrician. Dr Google doesn't replace that. read more

Not recommended. Called the office to make an appointment for our newborn and the person that set up the appointment assured us that they accept our insurance. Long story short, they told us our insurance was not accepted on the 2nd Visit and initially told my wife that they would want her to stay for the 2nd visit "pro bono" since it was their staff that drop the ball. Well, after the visit they turned around and stated that my wife had to pay half after all............. Silver lining was that the Dr that provided service was very professional and helpful but the front desk quite the opposite! read more

The low-intervention style, friendly doctors and nurses, tech savviness and office design are all amazing. Tribeca Pediatrics is the best. Both my three year old daughter and two month old daughter are patients. Tribeca Pediatrics LIC is one branch of a multiple-branch, Tribeca-based pediatrics practice. The LIC branch is staffed by Dr. Bini Mathew and Kelly Covel, PNP, together with various friendly medical assistants and receptionists. (You can call Kelly "Kelly," I asked!) Tribeca Pediatrics offices share a low-intervention philosophy. I find this approach wonderful, but if you're the kind of parent who will calm down only if someone else stresses out with you, Tribeca Pediatrics may not be for you. For example: I once called them in the middle of the night because my toddler had run into the furniture and was bleeding close to her tooth. The doctor on call essentially told me to relax and wait and see. I believe it was the right advice, but some parents may actually want to be sent to the ER. I also really love the tech-savviness of the office. Before each visit we receive an email that contains advice about sleeping, breastfeeding, solid foods, discipline etc. I've found these emails to be incredibly on-target. I also appreciate that the practice responds to email. And of lesser importance but also nice: the cute decor, toys, and convenient location on Vernon Blvd. UPDATE: For LIC parents looking for emergency care (or wanting to be prepared just in case), I'd go for New York Hospital Queens in Flushing, which has a competent 24hr pediatric emergency room. What an awful experience, talked to guy on the phone this morning to schedule the appointment. I was supposed to register online on their website in order to make an appointment , but since I was not able to do it over my IPhone and I had no access to the computer I asked him if he can register me over the phone which he did. I do not think I have ever experienced such rude customer service, he was beyond unpleasant, disinterested ,rude and unprofessional. I will just say this , I will definitely stick with my kids pediatrician in the city . I thought it would be great to have place to take kids for quick sick visit, but the customer service brings this place down for me to 2 stars ! That one extra star is for the ambiance. read more

I have been going to TriBeCa Pediatrics for the past 1 year!! We love Dr. Mathew!!! First off appointments are easy to make and I have never had to wait. I pick morning appointments mostly because it's easier for me before work. Dr. Mathew is very thorough with her questions and usually helps me in deciding between options. I was confused if I wanted to do puréed foods or baby led weaning. I liked going over the pros and cons and deciding what was best for child. She was able to see my fear in some areas and helped me work around those fears (i.e. choking/gagging). I've done the standard vaccination schedule -all vaccines at 2,4,6 months because I didn't want them spaced out and preferred 3 shots in one visit. She was highly accommodating and said no problem! I've seen a lot of negative reviews and feel they have to do with parents. I think some parents know exactly what they want and what is right for their kid-which is great but doesn't always work with medicine. So I feel if you're a parent who wants it one way and one way only, let them know upfront what you want so they will discuss your decision and as a parent be ready to hear the good and bad of that choice! My son goes to TriBeCa pediatrics at 4727 Vernon Blvd, Long Island City, NY 11101. Dr. Codel saw my son yesterday and did not give him any antibiotic to get rid of his virus. Sure enough he got worse. Dr. Codel direct me if he got worse call them then get him prescription mediation. Since we called call, three times first call we made more than 6 hours later not hear anything yet. Worst nightmare Dr. To me for sure. read more

I take my two kids here, and have done so for the past four and a half years. We see Kelly Covel, PNP, for wellness visits and she is wonderful with kids- patient, funny and very laid back. Her repertoire with first time parents and newborn babies is excellent. She is supportive, nonjudgmental and really listens. While the practice does suggest "sleep training" to parents of infants, they are not dogmatic and do not press if that's not your style. My husband and I did not chose to do any sleep training method and were never pushed to do so. In fact, Ms. Covel never brought it up with us! My boys have seen the other doctors at the practice for sick visits, and they are all very attentive and thorough. I feel confident in and comfortable with all of the medical staff. I highly recommend this office, and Tribeca Pediatrics as a whole. read more

We had our second visit there, and although our initial experience was not good (submitted a low score previously), my second encounter was much better. I suppose anyone can have a bad day, so do I. Perhaps after a few more encounters the true rating score will average out. Given the limited choices nearby, I plan to continue visiting this practice and hope that more encounters are like my last and not the first. After a few more months, I have visited this clinic a few more encounters with the same physician (Stamatos) for all of my children. Only the initial visit with her was off, the trend has clearly shifted to excellent care. I would highly recommend this clinic and Dr Stamatos. read more

If you anticipate that your child will not get sick and will not need prescription medication than you'll be fine at Tribeca Pediatrics, but if your child gets sick and you might need antibiotics or basically any prescription you will have a hard time getting them here. My child suffered from cough and congestion for almost a year. I asked her doctor many times to give her antibiotics, but she just flat out refused to do so. Finally, her solution was to send her to an ENT and perform a very invasive and painful test on my 2 year-old. They would stick a tube up her nose to look all the way in the back of her nose to see if there was an infection there. Once I got fed up with them I transferred her to a different clinic. It turned out my daughter had fluid in her years and had a sinus infection. After 10 days on antibiotics her cough and congestion went away completely and for the first time in almost a year she can sleep without coughing and struggling to breath. read more

FINALLY! A pediatrics office located in LIC. I guess word about the baby boom in LIC within the past two years hadn't taken off.... Well, I'm glad a great group of pediatricians jumped on it so that MY boys have someone right here within the neighborhood. Pristine, new office (some of it is still under construction but i would have never known if not told). I gotta say I love their examination tables. The examination table has a headboard with little cubby holes on the side of it. The cubby holes are used to store tissues, baby wipes, and even has a discrete little hole in one of the cubbies that lead to a hidden trash can. Yay! Because truth be told, anytime my kids see a trash can, they cannot help themselves but to turn it over, or lick it (ick!!), or stick their tiny hands into it (aaargh!!). Plenty of space in waiting room with toys galore. Little cutouts in each exam room for a quick game of peekaboo to distract the little ones. Dr Chris was manning the office by herself on the day we came in for a sick visit. She was pleasant, she was gentle even with two screaming toddlers in the room, and she listened to mommy. Mommies need to feel like they are heard when speaking about the ones they love & care for. From what I'm told, if the demand for a pediatric doctor increases, then the staff of LIC will grow. In my opinion, its just a matter of time. I see tons of kids in this neighborhood and I'm pretty sure the mommies are all in the same dire need as I was for a local dr. My daughter (and now my son) started going here when our insurance changed and the last pediatrician did not accept it. Street parking (metered) on the same block is easy to find. The waiting area is modern and very spacious. My daughter loves the kitchen play-set! We've never had to wait more than 5-10 minutes after check-in. So far we've only had visits with Kelly Covel, PNP. She's awesome! She always answers my many many questions, I never feel rushed, and she has a wonderful bedside manner. read more

I almost didn't come here because of some of the bad reviews with my newborn a year ago. But it was so convenient since I lived 5 minutes away. I so glad I decided to take my daughter here. Waits are short and appointments later in the afternoon are easy enough to get for the routine before 1 year old visits. The doctors and staff are all gentle and friendly. There are a lot of visits where 2 shots need to be given, and all those times she was poked by both needles at exactly the same time to reduce the amount of crying and anxiety. Don't believe all the bad reviews on Yelp, this is a perfectly good place to take your kids to if you live in the area. read more

If we had known that they were going to prescribe weening/sleep-training our infant by placing her alone for 12 hours to 'cry it out', we never would have visited in the first place. Great, clean office with friendly staff. I have never waited more than 5 minutes to be called into the office and be seen by the doctor. The office is newly renovated and has added an extra patient room. Dr Matthew is the best pediatrician we have ever met, and she puts the anxious parent and child at ease instantly. She's straightforward, relaxed and no-nonsense. We are moving out of state and the hardest thing will be finding a pediatrician on par with Dr Matthew and this office. read more

First of all, this office in LIC sucks big time, make yourself a favor and take your kids to the city. I changed my medical insurance and my former Pediatrician who is the best doctors in Astoria, the famous Dr. Paul Pediatrics doesn't take my insurance unfortunately. First, the receptionist at LIC was rude and very unpleasant to talk to. She told me that I have to do her job that it was calling my insurance for verification, I respond at her nicely "that's your job to do, not mine" and then, she rolled eyes on me. "What a b..tch". Second, when i finally see this Doctor, Dr. Mathews, I told her my 2 year old daughter had a severe cold a month ago and she was prescribed with antibiotics, steroids cause she had a croup cough and sinus infection, Dr. Matthews said my daughter is fine, relax and it's just a simple cold. Ok fine, I asked her "can you prescribed me something for her cough and mucus" I told her that my pediatrician used to prescribe my toddler Hydroxyzine to dry mucus out and calm the cough at night, Dr. Matthews said "we don't do that, I don't know what doctors have you ever seen in the past but we don't do that" excuse me, who the hell is we? She is the doctor there, the only one who makes decisions about Rx, no one else. Finally at the end of check up, Dr. Matthews suggested to my daughter to use saline solution and nasal aspirator to take the mucus out and I said fine again, i asked her for a prescription for of Sodium Chloride (saline solution) for nebulization, her respond was "it's over the counter" when it's not, I always was prescribed to get a box of sodium chloride each time my daughter had a cold. I end up same afternoon, paying a visit in cash to my former pediatrician, but it was worthy cause I get the prescriptions that my daughter got deny by Dr. Matthews. read more

We had been going here for years. Never again. This winter our daughter got the flu. We went in only to find out that they don't test for the flu or provide prescriptions for flu medicines, like Tamiflu. The visit lasted 10 minutes. A day later, we had to rush our daughter to the emergency room with a 105 degree fever, where they gave us Tamiflu. The emergency room doctor told us to schedule a follow up visit with our pediatrician to make sure she was recovering. That follow up visit took place a day or two later. Another 10 minute visit. No testing of any sort was done on either visit. Basically just listening to my daughter's heart and lungs, taking pulse and temperature, looking at throat, etc. Total bill--OVER $600. Insurance covered some, but we were still left paying most of this ridiculous charge. Total time with the pediatrician over two visits: about 20 minutes. So basically we were charged at $1800/hour. read more

This is probably one of the worst practices. The doctors are inexperienced and have misdiagnosed my child several times- where we then had to go to Cornell Emergency. The doctors come from some of the lowest rated medical schools and you are probably better off going to a family practice instead or heading to the city. In addition, the receptionists are rushed and unhelpful. Head to the city of you think your child is very sick- the wait is probably the same in terms of total time. read more

We love Tribeca Pediatrics. It's beyond convenient for us (5 min walk), we have never waited more than 5 minutes to see a doctor, it's super easy to schedule appointments (very flexible schedules). I've been able to see a doctor within a few minutes (yes, minutes!) of calling in. The doctors are super patient, kind, and knowledgable. I can't say enough good things for this practice and the care of our infant son. The offices are clean and the reception staff is friendly. read more

I came here to update my rating from 4 stars to 5 (since we've been with this practice for a few years now) - I am truly astonished at the negative reviews. My son & I love Tribeca Pediatrics! They are kind, accommodating & knowledgeable. We continue to enjoy seeing Dr. Mathew at my son's checkups (even though he remains very bashful with her, he opens up to her a bit, which is more than I can say he does for most health professionals). Whenever we have any immediate or weekend needs, the weekend hours at other locations are a godsend & have always found warm, competent care from whomever is on duty. Medical forms for schools & whatnot get done super-quickly. The patient portal is very convenient. The communication with office staff by phone is super. I have never had an issue with billing nor has anyone ever disrespected my parenting choices (as stated in reviews here). I encourage anyone who is considering this practice to check it out for yourself! We are very happy with Tribeca Pediatrics & the LIC location. read more

My children have been going to Tribeca Pediatrics since they were one week old. I had originally transferred from another pediatric practice having been disappointed with their wait time, service, and lack of knowledge. When you walk through the doors of Tribeca Pediatrics you immediately feel that you're in your cool older sister's apartment who happens to be an interior designer. The sleek, minimal, and beautiful design is a far cry from the low-lit, depressing doctor's offices of my youth. There are brightly colored, well made, stylish toys and books to keep the children busy while they're waiting which makes things exceedingly easy for mom and dad. My children have been going to Tribeca Pediatrics in Park slope for 5 years now and I have never waited more than 5 minutes to have my children seen. When my children had emergencies, the doctors saw themimmediately. Long ago when I was overly concerned about my son's high fever and called them when their offices were closed, Dr. Michel Cohen called me back himself to reassure me. Dr. Gold who has been our personal pediatirician is straightforward, smart, hip, and firm but she knows all. She has never been wrong and has put me, a naturally nervous mom, at ease every time. The nurses are friendly all the time and Regie, the receptionist, knows me by first name and greats me with joy every time I see him. It saddens me to see any kind of negative review about them but I'm sure various people who interact with various offices have different opinions. I can't rave about them enough. I have placed my children's health and lives in their hands time and time again. They have always acted with care, attention, kindness, and wisdom. Even when I drop in for pesky administrative things like updated health forms they have helped me gladly within a matter of seconds. It is the best run business model I have ever experienced in my life. Tribeca Pediatrics should be all over the world and I really mean this. My children ALWAYS want to go to the doctor; they jump up and down when they know they're going in for vaccinations or a check-up. That is strange but I don't question it. It's no small thing to love your doctor and I can't thank Tribeca Pediatrics enough. They are truly the best. read more
