This review is for Angela. In short, she's a hair wizard. I moved to MI from the west coast and have super dark almost black hair that I've been bleaching. I went to another stylist in Troy that did a less than great job and left patches everywhere. Not only did Angela know exactly what to do to fix it she also used all the same products my stylist back home did which was amazing because I didn't have to go out and buy new products. I've only been to her two or three times so far but I know that I'll be going solely to her as long as I'm living in MI. She is a gem and worth every penny! read more

This is a very nice salon - large, modern, clean, easy parking all around. My stylist is Charlotte, and she is the absolute best. My color is absolutely beautiful, and my blowout was top-notch. Many people have difficulty blowing out my curls into a smooth, silky texture, but Charlotte handled it beautifully. I'm really sad. I went to this salon in hopes of finding a stylist closer to home. My hair is fine, chest height, and color treated. I specifically asked my stylist before beginning NOT to cut my hair wet and to take off minimal length. We agreed on 1/2 an inch off the bottom which she did cut dry. What happened next was the disaster. After washing my hair she began cutting away and creating short layers in my hair while wet vs the long layers/more blunt cut I had before. I kid you not when I say there is 2 inches between this random layer and the rest of my hair. Now my naturally wavy hair poofs at my chin and is flat underneath down to the top of my chest like a mushroom. You can see how unblended it is. It took me a year to grow out my old layers and get my length back and now I have to literally start over. I didn't even want layers just a DUST! I now have to put more heat on my hair to make it lay appropriately than I normally do. I will not be back. read more

Longggg overdue review but I came here back in March to get extensions. Jamie did my hair. I wanted a nice ombre from my black to a light brown at the tips. I was super excited and paid a good amount (probably $700 all together for hair and to get them put in). She told me in the consultation she would wash my hair, straighten it, match the color, and then place them in. None of that was done. She straightened my hair after they were put in. After I was done, i was SO upset I literally cried. I asked her if she could dye them because this color was definitely not what i wanted and I already paid so much but she said because of COVID shutting down the spas she couldnt. Absolutely awful & everyone I show is appauled. I tried calling a few times in the spring to talk to a manager and every time they were busy. I would give them 0 stars if i could. read more

Nail Services Review: Saying goodbye to an old favorite of a salon was easy thanks to my regular nail technician's move to Tricho. I've been seeing the amazing ANNA for years now, so when I learned she was moving from Ferndale to Royal Oak, I was glad that my regular visits to MI for work allow me to visit her even more regularly than in the past. Anna takes the art form of nail, hand, and foot care to a level I am willing to bet you never experienced at a typical "nail place." Anna elevates her job to a true passion as an artist and treats each client as an individual. She is never in a hurry, she had studied hand/foot massage, and carries special lotions, creams, and ointments that will smooth and soften even the roughest of heels. She never uses those nasty razors, and each nail file/buffer is fresh for each client. Now, let's talk about her polishes. She obviously uses "3 Free" polishes and does not do acrylics/shellac/gel. She uses the best regular polish money can buy - my most recent visit she used "Cindi Naturals" on my toenails and fingernails - it's a 5-7 coat process that leaves your polish intact for well over a week yet can still be removed with normal remover. She's funny, skilled, thorough, and client conscious. Seeing her is truly a relaxing experience, as she has her own oasis at the salon! read more

I have been getting simple, basic blonde balayage for 8 years. My normal girl at Gina Agosta had a family emergency but I needed my hair done before I went on vacation so I turned to yelp. I found Tricho and I saw good reviews for Angela. I decided to make an appointment. Angela was a very nice girl, but did an absolute atrocity to my hair. I asked for blonde, she made it bright copper. I thought it may be the lighting at first but when I got home I realized it was awful. I called to schedule a follow up for her to fix it and explained to the receptionist that I was not too thrilled with it and would like it to be fixed....she never called me back. Then I called the next day and explained that I never got a call back and she assured me that Angela would call me back. Well, she never did. I had to make another appointment at another Salon (Mario Max in West Bloomfield and I highly recommend) and the guy who did my hair questioned everything. He said it was the completely wrong color, it was totally uneven, and he fixed it. I was extremely disappointed because I ended up spending over 500 dollars for my hair (because of what I had to spend at the other salon to fix it) and you can still see bits of copper through the blonde. Angela has good reviews so this might have been a fluke- but if you are going for blonde balayage I would not recommend. read more

I have been going to Tricho since I moved to Michigan. I met Angela two years ago when I was asking about purple shampoo for my blonde hair. Ever since, I only trust Angela with my hair, I like to call her my hair doctor! She is the best to work with extensions and highlights. Saying that, my hair isn't the easiest to work with because of the red pigment it has, but Angela was able to remedy this challenge! All the other staff are amazing too. Worst experience ever. Called to make an appointment, specifically said I had short hair and needed someone who cuts short hair. I Park, 10 minutes before my appointment and they call and say the stylist won't be there for another 40 minutes. I sit and wait. She finally comes and gets me, then tells me that short hair isn't her specialty, that all the girls hair she cuts is butt length and she can't cut mine. Although I appreciate the honesty over a crappy cut, you shouldn't be working in a salon if you can't cut all hair. To top it off, I drove 25 miles to get there to be told I could make an appointment with someone else a different day but wouldn't be getting service this day. Jamie is respectful of time - but what I love the most is now educated she is. I never feel pressure to buy product - but love what I have purchases. Ok. So. Melissa pretty much changed my life. Yeah you heard me right. Her brow game is on point. I am not a huge fan of my eyebrows. They are light and kind of sparse. Every time I try to fill them in myself it looks like...well...it looks like I filled them in (badly). I discovered Melissa on instagram (check her out and be wowed by the brow awesomeness @beautybymelissad). I think Melissa spent about 30 minutes on my brows. Waxed (by hard wax - i had hardly any pinkness or irritation afterwards), tweezed, reshaped and tinted. I had never tinted my brows before and honestly I was a little nervous that it would look super fake (p.s. it did not). You guys. I am OB.SESSED with my brows right now. She totally changed the shape of my face just by 1 appt. They look amazing and full and just totally awesome. She also gave me a mini lesson on how to properly fill them in. An appointment was super easy to get (although I am nervous to write this review in fear that she will blow up! but if she does - she deserves it). The salon is very pretty. Its huge and they had bagels and drinks available for their customers. Everyone I encountered there was super nice. I HIGHLY suggest you make an appointment with Melissa. For my brows + tint it was $38 - which compared to similar services in other cities its very reasonable. PLUS - she has such attention to detail and really is just a brow wizard. It is designed with hardwood floors and rustic charm. The bathrooms need help. They are not clean and are too much like an employee's bathroom than one for the customers. My husband saw a tootsie roll in the men's toilet. Minus the bathrooms, the salon meets most of my needs. The stylists provide hair services to diverse clientele. If I can give negative one star, then I would. I went for my haircut touch up on April 9th. My appointment was at 1 pm. I called previous day and on the day of the appointment at around 11 am to make sure. They said they can fix my hair at 1 PM. After arriving, receptionist told me they are running behind a little so I will have to wait about 10 minutes. 20 minutes passed and I was forgotten. Then after another 40 minutes, I went up to the receptionist and asked. She was like few more minutes. I was looked around and saw that one customer with very long hair just got her hair washed. I waited another 20 minutes and went to check. It has been an hour now. She said one of our customers wanted a blowout so we are doing that. I had to wait another 30 minutes to be seen. So I waited 1.5 hours to get my hair fixed by a little. Receptionist said she will talk to the manager and she what she can do. She never called the manager. My hair was oily in some areas and not in the other areas. My hairdresser didn't wash my hair or offer to wash my hair. She just cut my hair. I came home and washed my hair and I saw that my hair was uneven. I went there so that she can make my hair even. She didn't even do that. Then, I had hair all over my clothes! My shirt and pants had tiny bits of hair and it irritated me so much! I had to come home asap. Very rude customer service and awful hair cut read more

Her and another one of Tricho's stylists Cat completed updo's for 2 brides, 2 moms, and 8 bridesmaids AHEAD of schedule, and everyone was super happy with their hair -- especially me! I got a ton of compliments on it throughout the night and love looking back at pictures of it! I've been seeing Nick for cut and color for almost 2 years now and I wouldn't trust my hair to anyone else. I have very thick curly hair which many stylists have a hard time cutting to look good, but he does an amazing job. My hair looks great curly and sleek and polished when I straighten it. He's also a genius with color! He always has new ideas and techniques to keep things fresh. The salon itself is spacious, clean, and modern.
