Tucked into the scenic harbor town of Hingham, Massachusetts, Trident Galley and Raw Bar is more than a restaurant--it's a refined yet approachable culinary experience curated by seasoned restaurateur Brian Houlihan. With a deep appreciation for coastal New England flavors and a commitment to excellence, Trident has quickly become a must-visit destination for food lovers and locals alike. Atmosphere From the moment you step inside, Trident strikes the perfect balance between cozy and inviting. The space is thoughtfully designed--nautical without being cliché, modern yet timeless. Large windows frame the patio for outdoor dining , giving diners a serene backdrop to their meals, while the energy of the open raw bar adds a touch of vibrancy and authenticity. Food Trident's menu is a love letter to the sea. Every dish highlights the freshness and quality of the ingredients, and the attention to detail is evident from start to finish. The raw bar is nothing short of exceptional: briny, pristine oysters shucked to order, and impossibly fresh clams. The pan-seared scallops over seasonal risotto, are a standout--perfectly caramelized and delicately seasoned. Scituate fish and chips is another hugely popular menu item, local haddock expertly fried with a light crisp batter. The lobster sliders special, is a local favorite for good reason: generous, succulent chunks of meat nestled on a perfectly toasted brioche bun. Even the simpler dishes, like the fish tacos, house-made chowder, or salads, deliver bold flavors with subtle elegance. For those looking beyond shellfish, you can't beat the grilled ribeye with truffle fries and a side salad, the chicken avocado sandwich, upscale grilled cheese on sourdough bread, duck confit à l'orange with potatoes sarladaises, and roasted carrots. Service The staff at Trident strikes a rare balance: attentive without hovering, warm and friendly. Their knowledge of the menu, wine selection, and craft cocktails is impressive, and they carry out every service with genuine hospitality. It's clear that the team has been trained to reflect the high standards set by Houlihan himself. The Vision Brian Houlihan, no stranger to the restaurant world, brings his expertise and passion to every inch of Trident. His vision is clear--fresh, elevated seafood served in a beautiful space where everyone feels welcome. There's a personal touch to the way the restaurant operates, and if you're lucky, you might even spot Houlihan himself greeting guests or checking in on service. Final Thoughts Trident Galley and Raw Bar isn't just a great restaurant by the water--it's an experience. It respects the region's seafood legacy while bringing a fresh, modern perspective to the table. Whether you're a longtime local or just visiting the South Shore, dining at Trident feels like discovering a hidden gem that you want to tell everyone about--but also secretly want to keep to yourself. A true standout on the Massachusetts coast. Bravo, Brian Houlihan.

Mushroom lo mein & salmon. Good but salty, and fabulous, lose the tomato salsa!

Given the location, I was prepared for mediocre food and service, but was pleasantly surprised. Especially the salmon entrée was good.

Wings were amazing ! Bartender created a drink that specifically to my taste. I called it the "Betsy" a coconut, flavored expresso martini. The bartenders name was Betsy she was very accommodating & great personality! We would definitely return.

Went here this past Monday because Wifey was craving oysters. This place was nearby and offered BOGO oysters. We were greeted and seated right away. Started off with 2 dozens. All were very fresh. Then we ordered: Clams 3 Way(must get!!), Cataplana, Haddock and Tuna tacos. We will come back very soon when she craves oysters!

Classic Caesar salad. Ordered with shrimp and without croutons.

We came in on a Wednesday night around 7:30 and were seated immediately. Staff was very courteous and attentive. We ordered a few different small plates to share and they were pleasing, but nothing earth-shattering. The standouts were the deviled eggs, buffalo cauliflower, and charcuterie board. The two salads I wouldn't order again just because they were fairly average. The menu online is out of date so be sure to check the physical menu when you come in. Very much a cocktail bar ambiance with small, tapas style bites.

Seafood stew close-up! Look at this feast in a delish tomato broth that was so tasty I wanted to lick the bowl!

WOW what a fantastic restaurant! This was our first dinner at Trident Galley in Hingham. Jay the Manager welcomed us and made us feel welcome and comfortable immediately. There's also a relaxed vibe in the dining room. First impression: 5 out of 5! The meal? I had the Portuguese stew that consisted of a plethora of seafood and lots of it! Shrimp, scallops, muscles, clams and more in a delicious tomato broth that was just perfect. My guests ordered the Catch of the Day which was haddock. Once they started eating it, they stopped talking and enthusiastically ate every incredible morsel. Yes, it was THAT delicious ! High 5's for food, ambiance, service, price and presentation! This is definitely going to be one of our favorite restaurants and another winner by Chef/owner Brian Houlihan. Amazing!!!

Came back here twice in a row during my trip to the Hull Massachusetts area. It was one of the decent seafood places open in our area since we were isolated from many restaurants. And whoa the experience was a success. After a full day, we chose this location for a small bites dinner and a round of drinks. Everything was fresh to the very last bite. Our host was so gracious to let us know to wait a few minutes for the clock to hit 9pm for the $1 oyster happy hour. Such fresh oysters for a good deal. The same can be said about the tuna poké, lobster rangoons, and those flavorful mouth watering pork belly tacos. Even the Brussels sprouts packed a punch in flavor. I wasn't a fan of the drinks as I felt most of the cocktails were sour. Second visit decided to play it safe and just had a glass of rosé. Aside from the drinks, this place saved our trouble of going hungry in the Hull area for dinner. Thumbs up.

    $1 oysters delish

This is of the places close to home that stays open late so we were hoping we would like it and we did. The $1 oysters after 9 were excellent. They also offer $1 oysters during happy hour 4-6 m-f. We had a couple of beers on draft that the bartender suggested (Vitamin Sea & Widowmaker) both were easy going down and would definitely have them again. Plan on coming back frequently and trying out their other offerings. Super nice people working there.

We ordered scallops, brussel sprouts, truffle fries, & oysters. Came for the $1 oysters and really can't beat that deal! Oysters tasted fresh. Brussel sprouts were delish - perfect amount of sweet, salty (there were bits of bacon), & crispy. Scallops were great really can't go wrong with scallops. The risotto that the scallops laid on were OK not awful but nothing out of this world. Truffle fries I would not order again. I am a fry-snob and like my fries crispy. I also did not taste the "truffle" Service was great, waitress was attentive and kind.

That was very courteous of him. Both bartenders checked on me to make sure my food was great and if I needed anything else. They were both very attentive to me and my crew. One of the 3 bartenders didn't make the drinks right but he did mk em' strong so if that's your cup o tea then by all means go for it lol. You must get the sticky ribs appetizer. You get like 5 pieces and are a must try. Get some wet naps in your purse ahead of time or I'd say finger lickin' good lol. The flat bread pizza was good too and their portions are not small. They also had wings done nice and well. They had a dj mixing on a Saturday night and he did real good and there was music for everyone. Space is great for dancing, eating or lounging. It will hold a good amount of people. I would go there again. I usually get photos of the food but a girl was hungry lmao presentation was nice too.

We stopped by for a late afternoon drink and appetizer. The drinks were good and the bread appetizer was great, 71 west has the same bread and it's great. The prices are similar to other restaurants in the area which is the moderate cost range. The service was good and they have plenty of TVs for any sports fans looking for more than pub food options when watching the game. Definitely will be back and try some other entrees.

Tried Sala Restobar in Beverly and overall it was a pretty underwhelming experience…read more We started with drinks -- I ordered a piña colada expecting it to be blended, but it came unblended. Nothing on the menu or from the server mentioned that, which was disappointing right away. When I told the server I didn't like it and wanted something else, he literally tilted his head and said, "ummm what do I tell the bartender?" That honestly rubbed me the wrong way -- just felt unprofessional and awkward. Jenny got a tequila cosmo, which was fine, nothing special. Food-wise, everything was just average. The bao buns were overcooked and the bun fell apart, though the flavor was decent. The pineapple fried rice was probably the best thing we had, but even that was just okay. We also had dumplings -- Jenny liked them, but I thought they were just alright. Dessert was the biggest miss. The blueberry cobbler was not good at all -- maybe a 3/10 at best. One thing that really didn't sit right was when we asked to split the tasting menu and were told no. That doesn't make much sense -- if people want to share, especially for a tasting menu, it should be allowed. Overall, nothing stood out in a good way, and between the service and the food, solid ambiance , it just wasn't a great experience.

Food is adventurous & bold; memorable meals over the years: Fried Goat cheese with charcuterie meats, manchego cheese & french bread, have to do The Bocado Experience for 2 or 4, Jamon Iberico, Pato (duck pastrami w sherry glaze), tuna poke, atun de bocado (seared yellowfin saku tuna), braised pork belly, Spanish octopus, mussels in cream sc, twin mini Kobe style beef burgers, venison, fried calamari, lollipop lamb chops, seared beef tenderloin, classic paella & Paella de Mariscos, & baked flan for dessert. Just so fascinating - their chefs can put out such tasty small plates so quickly, each packed with such fresh & exciting flavors, always cooked to perfection (never over or under cooked). Get the sangria pitchers, bar is always packed & hopping. Dining room just got a refresh, but was beautiful even before with a great atmosphere also. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, though our table was in the middle of the aisle which felt a bit cramped. Unfortunately, the service itself was inconsistent. We had to ask for bread three times. When we ordered two brownies and one coffee, we were brought one brownie and two coffees. At the end of the meal, we asked for both my meal and my son's meal to be wrapped to go. My son's plate was accidentally thrown away because other plates were stacked on top of it. When I asked about it, the server explained what happened but did not offer to remake it, remove it from the bill, or apologize, which was disappointing. That said, it was a busy Friday during Restaurant Week, so I would consider coming back and hope the service is smoother next time. While writing this review, I actually received a text from the restaurant letting me know we left our son's plate behind, which was thoughtful and appreciated. If Yelp allowed half stars, I would give 3.5.
