FIRST OFF, RESIDENT DOCTOR JESSICA KRANDAL TOLD MY MOM WHILE SHE WAS IN THE HOSPITAL TO JUST DIE, NO ONE WANTS HER ALIVE!!!!! MY MOM TOLD ME THIS OUT HER OWN MOUTH. THEN SHE TELLS MY MOM'S FIANCE HE CAN STOP COMING TO THE HOSPITAL BECAUSE MY MOM ISN'T MAKING IT OUT THERE ALIVE. HERE'S THE STORY BEHIND ALL THIS. I will start off with the latest occurrence when my mother died. My mom was diagnosed with double pneumonia (both lungs) back in July 2024. She went to Trident and they treated her. They sent her home a week later. The nurse that came by her home checked her hemoglobin levels and it was at a 0 a few days later. She told my mom to rush to the hospital asap or she could die shortly. Since she lived about a mile from Trident she went back. She kept complaining about the IV they gave her in her arm. She said the IV kept hurting. Apparently, they put the needle in her arm, into the bone. I have attached a photo of how bruised her arm was when they finally removed the IV the next day, and many calls to the nurse. After about two weeks, they sent her home. None of us knowing , they never cured the pneumonia. One day at home she said she couldn't breathe, so she went to Roper in Summerville, they moved her to the downtown Charleston location. She stayed there for about a week. They sent her to rehab to get her strength back for walking. While at rehab she started having chest issues, and they sent her back to Trident. While there, they said the pneumonia was not getting better, or worse, it was stagnant. We thought they got rid of the pneumonia this whole time. One day she would do good, the next day she would do bad. They put her in ICU and called us and told us to come see her because she only has hours to live. We had the whole family there to see her. The next day, she was laughing and talking. Another doctor we haven't seen before said she has about 48% lung capacity left, due to COPD and Emphysema, and of course, the pneumonia. He said his goal was to have her breathing on her own so he put her on a nasal tube to have her breathing. She would talk to us and use her phone. The next morning, we get another call from a different person stating she isn't doing well and she will likely pass that day. We went to see her and stayed with her for hours. For two days she was on the mask to help her breathe. The next day, she was back on the nasal tube. Laughing and trying to talk, but her voice was weak. We kept getting calls in the mornings saying she isn't doing well, but the night time, she would do well. We couldn't understand it. One doctor said she is moving in the right direction, and the other doctor would say the opposite. One day while I was there visiting my mom a resident Dr. named Jessica Krandal came in. She was staring at my mom weirdly. I didn't understand why. A day or two later my mom tells me the Resident Dr. Jessica Krandal told her to, "just die, no one wants her alive!" We told the nursing station about the situation and they said they would not allow her back in my mom's room, and contact her boss. A day later, she's back in the room, telling my mom's fiance that my mom is not getting out the hospital alive and he can stop coming. The day of my mom's passing, a few days later, the doctor calls me on the phone and tells me to come down there because she's not doing well. Then she proceeds to put Jessica Krandal on the phone, after all this, they put her on the phone. This was a slap in the face. ....another incident involving my then 16-years-old son. He woke us up at 4am saying he can't breathe. We sent him back to bed and again, he woke us back up, saying he can't breathe. We took him to Trident, and they said he has anxiety. My wife argued about what does he have to cause that much anxiety. They did a test on him and found out his heart was beating irregularly. They rushed him to MUSC where he was diagnosed with myocarditis. Please, avoid this place if possible. read more

Having to deal with a hospital, a LOT more often than not will evoke a feeling of anxiety or worse. That's why it's important to know up front the type of care and facilities are abundant and their reputation. For the record, I've had to deal with hospitals in six states for 13 surgeries, 10 procedures, 8 ER visits as well as having to attend to family members who were in critical or relatively bad condition so I have a pretty large sample size to draw comparisons. That leads me to this review for Trident Medical Center which isn't very good. I'll be factual and leave emotion out of the review as it's important to be fair and balanced. First off when I drove to visit my family, there was a huge pothole in the main road leading up to the hospital. It took weeks to fix and when I asked the nurses about that and they giggled as if it's an ongoing joke. It has since been repaired but it gives pause that a hazard at a hospital isn't repaired in expedited fashion. One of my loved ones was transferred from their satellite facilities to this one located on Medical Plaza during an emergency situation. The records and/or information either wasn't fully documented or properly received thus slowing down the treatment at the main center. I'm very disturbed how the first hospitals findings can summarily be waved in favor of restarting the root cause efforts of a critical patient. Next the doctors without consulting my mother called in a specialist doctor for more input. The next of kin are required to be consulted when bringing in other medical professionals. Moreover, this doctor only reinforced what the initial satellite facility had originally suggested. I completely understand the effort to give fast and quality care however if an initial doctor makes a diagnosis based on tests why redo the same efforts? As for the nurses they were great in almost all aspects of their respective jobs. They gave us good communication, were accurate with their needles (trust me, I've had really bad experiences will less than stellar nurses) and attentive to the patient. As for their demeanor they were pleasant but worked with efficiency to ensure the comfort of the patient. There is one small issue as another loved one had a do not resuscitate order and this was made clear in the paperwork and my brother. The acting staff then encouraged my family to keep him alive "and all he had to live for." The severity of the situation dictated otherwise; thus these needless conversations only make the process inconvenient for the family and prolong the patients suffering as care was and wasn't administered until this was resolved in the eyes of the hospital. Finally, I'm not sure who cleans the hospital as every time I've stayed at a hospital, the rooms are cleaned daily. This hospital wasn't and I'm not sure why. Therefore, my mother would often clean the room while she remained with my dad. As far as records are concerned, there is a level of deceit that is being practiced here. After my father died, in accordance to law, copies of the records are to be handed over to the next of kin, spouse, etc. For more than 2 years Trident has refused to hand over any info stating the records now have to be filed with a judge. This leads one to suspect there were issues that they don't want the us to know about. Overall, my two prolonged experiences at this hospital were less than stellar when compared to, well any other hospital. Doctors tread over each other's test results, they aren't quick to release records of a patients stay, the upkeep both outside and inside the hospital isn't a high priority and a family's desires aren't always considered. If one is to have a choice, I would advise continue looking however in the unfortunate situation should arise and this hospital is where you end up, make sure you have informed loved ones taking charge on your behalf. While I don't believe the doctor and staff are incompetent, they don't inspire enthusiasm. read more

Over the years I have been a patient at Trident Medical center and have not been happy. But I am proud to say, they are working very hard to make it the best experience you can have. This last 3 weeks was amazing. Each and every doctor was top notch, the food was actually good and I ate every bit. The nursing staff was incredible. They were attentive and I didn't want for anything. I truly hope if you need medical help please give the a try, I am sure you will not be sorry. They recently opened a new free parking garage so you can always find a parking space. I wish good health to each one who reads this. read more

One would hope the folks that CHOOSE the medical field would do so because they care. Care about helping others. Joy when their help is appreciated and successful. However, sadness, emptiness and fear when that trust has been destroyed and replaced with hopelessness. Sadness that the medical field is just the same as any other. With the power to save lives, make lives better, change hopelessness, to comfort. Comfort in knowing there are people who care about you, you're well being and give you a sense of wellbeing, empowerment. That can come crashing down when in a glance, a flicker of an eye, the same people can place you right back in the dark, take your life back to pain. What is worse the same people that gave you hope, are the same people that took it away and made you believe it was your fault. Like DV... The abuser, the controller, the keeper of your joy and sadness. The one who you trusted to keep you safe, to give you comfort. It is sad to feel no one cares, no one is helping or assisting you to be better because they care. When medical staff says /as you are walking out the door/call us if you need us or anything"with a smile on their face... They Do Not even know your name or what your medical issues are, have been or will be.- they charge you exorbitant fees for one test, make the rules up as they go along. Do they care?? Do they worry about you? NO I realize this post will it change anything. However, maybe give me some peace I did nothing wrong. Give me the strength to pick myself up and start again. If there are folks out there that have suffered the same abuse, it is not your fault, do not lash out, do not try and hurt these folks, pick yourselves up and carry on. Revenge is not ours. April 2024 // I was rushed to this Hospital after requesting to go to MUSC and being resident with Charleston county. I didn't expect to have my jewelry stolen in the trauma center. I was fully alert & aware at this time. I gave helped nurses cut jewelry from my septum and placed my belongings inside a sandwich bag. upon departing a precious Ring was missing. only one male nurse took to searching with me (not found). I could have been reimbursed and wasn't. I was discharged without papers or my ring. Worst of all the investigation was less than incomplete & incompetent for a hospital. Like much of anyones health. The ER doctor and the staff were fantastic. They attended to my needs and helped me as best as they could. Unfortunately for me on March 21,2021 I was told the ice machine was out of order. I was in shock and disbelief. I was told I had 3 broken bones, CT can revealed a total of 9 broken bones. I got a shot, 1 Norco pill, a prescription for 15 Norcos, a splint and sent on my way. To my shock and disbelief I was billed over $6200. If this is the best this facility can for that kind of money, I definitely need to take my business elsewhere. read more

Terrible care. Staff acts as though a person who is older is not worth the effort to care for and if they don't feel like doing something, say feeding someone or giving them a breathing treatment, they refuse to do it until pressed. The night staff is absolutely the worst. They have very little interest in doing much of anything and will discontinue meds. Then the next day when a person is worse the staff tells the family that they should accept the fact that the person is old and dying. Meanwhile all that was wrong was that they weren't being allowed to get adequate rest and were being denied meals. Absolutely awful. Never send anyone you love here. If they end up here, insist on their being transported to another hospital as soon as they are stable. I don't know if they are overstuffed or what. And I will say some of the daytime staff is excellent. I feel bad for them that they're working in a s*** hole. Probably if you went to a third world country your care would be on par with this place. read more

5 stars for the staff at this hospital and their passion to care for patient. 0 (zero) stars for their billing and greed. Was recently there in the ER due to stomach spasms (ache) and got some saline solutions, a CT scan, and to lay in a covey (not room) in the ER for about 2 hours. After which was discharged with a prescription. Well today I see they billed $13,353.00 for that visit. Sure my insurance had a set rate and paid $4,807.20 after that; leaving me owing $1,201.80 for the short time in the ER. If only I had utilized an ambulance service I could have met my out of pocket maximum for the year. But since they charge so much I guess they'll have to take payments from my HSA over the next year, since I only spend non-taxed money on healthcare; hopefully they'll settle. usually do not like posting negative reviews or giving the negative attention. However I have been left no choice at all! My mother fell November 9th, she was taken to this hospital because she had a possible broken leg. We arrived here to assess her injury. 8:50pm the xray technician came in to do a bed side xray of her ankle ( Alex) she has an insulin pump. If you look up Dexcom insulin pumps it states the following: You should not put a Dexcom insulin pump or other continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) device through an x-ray machine. Now my mother in pain told Alex this and asked for it to be shielded. He stated that she didnt know what she was talking about and even told me that. I told him no its to be shielded it is a 10,000$ pump and she cant replace it so please shield it. He abided by that request however had an attitude about her taking "his" shield for the xray so while he was throwing a fit he did a complete sh** job for care. When he improperly lifted my mothers leg that was also broken to xray her ankle his response to her pain was " oh well this is how it has to be you took my shield" so the piss poor compassion for my mother started in the ER at 8:50pm November 9th. It then carried on into the night with her not getting pain meds for a broken FEMUR . Sunday Nov 10th the surgical team was amazing with her allergy list they themselves did amazing! Leading up to this day my mother is still in trident. Last week a nurse came to draw blood and my mother asked her not to take it out her hand the nurse yelled and stated " you dont tell me what to do" and snatched her hand to put the tourniquet on my mother did snatch her hand away and put them under the covers. She did not feel safe here nor does she still feel safe. They let her go without eating, they dont get pain meds to her so she cries in pain. They let her sit in her pee for hours and tonight to top it off my mother set in her own feces for an hour tonight until 20 minutes before i got here! She is supposed to go to rehab but they need her to move around to do so how is she supposed to move around when the care team here does not even care! They sit on there cell phones and ignore the call button I have seen it. Do not bring your family here its not safe this hospital doesnt seem to like watching people get better and leave. Incredible staff, organization, and leadership. If I had to describe the facility staff in four words: Compassionate, Respectful, Professional, Capable would be my top choices, and I would only regret not getting to emphasize those more. I recently had an emergency that led to a significant surgery and I couldn't be more glad we decided to drive the extra distance to go here. Triage was FAST and efficient, and the near-absence of a line despite the constant arrival of new patients shows it was efficient for everyone. The entire staff - doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, imaging technologists and even the non-medical support staff - are respectful, professional and focused. I've never been treated so much like a human - and one with valid thoughts about my own health and body - by so many trained medical personnel. Everyone here listens, everyone here cares deeply and all of them are skilled, focused and tireless. The surgery itself was performed with truly impressive skill and precision, and the surgical team was attentive and informative both before and after the surgery itself. I spent a week in this hospital's care, and even with the medical problems that put me there and the recovery from surgery, it felt more like a vacation than a hardship, which is saying something given the condition I was in. The people employed here are exactly the best that one might imagine waiting on the other side of the ER doors. All of my expectations were exceeded; all of my hopes were more than realized. "There was no nurse to be found, he was literally left unattended in a hallway on a stretcher bed," she said. After about six hours in, she felt like she had to take matters into her own hands and called for a patient advocate. "He was literally not in this hospital," MacDonald said. "He came from across the street in an office building and met me in the ER to make sure we were being taken care of." She tried to make it in Florida and had to move back in 3 weeks and couldn't go back to Florida for dialysis the ER told her to go back to Florida for dialysis and turned her a ay with her face so swollen her eyes were swelled shut. Trident has been very good to me. I usually see Dr Dunn for interventional radiology and he is by far the most educated and well versed doctor I have met. His bedside manner is fantastic as well and he has always made sure I was comfortable. 10 stars for Dr Dunn, I highly recommend him if you need that department. The hospital itself has been good to me as well. They are very good at explaining what is going on throughout your stay. When they bring you back they ask what is most important to you, being warm, pain control, communication or (something else I can't remember but when I do I will fill in). At first I was confused like duh, all of that. Haha but I understand they want you to be comfortable and what's important is different for everyone. Everyone is very nice and comforting. I only have two complaints. When I returned from my procedure and had to rest in the room for an hour for observation, the nurses outside of my room were very loud. All I wanted was to sleep. I know it's a regular day for them and I didn't complain because of that, but maybe just be aware people are trying to rest. The other small complaint I have is the valet (although nice) can sometimes be rude. read more

Dolly H. Lee County, SC 01 11/17/2022 My fiance went in on November 19, 2020 for a simple procedure to place stents, day surgery. He got there a11:00 am. His surgery was scheduled for 1:00 pm and should have lasted an hour. His niece was waiting in the parking lot because of covid.They had her number and was suppose to call her and keep her updated. I waited until a little after 2: pm and heard nothing, so I called his niece, who told me she hadn't heard anything, so I called the hospital myself. The lady who answered the phone told me that my fiance had not been taken back yet because Dr. Jason Coker had gotten double booked. I called his niece back to let her know what was going on and waited some more. Somewhere between 3:00 pm and 3:30 pm my fiance called and said he was still waiting. More waiting and calling to check on him and finally I called a little after 6:00 pm they said he was in recovery and would be there about 4 hours. I called to check on him again between 8:30 pm and 9:00 pm and was told he was having trouble coming out from under anesthesia, at which time I begged them to keep him overnight for observation. Shortly after that call, my fiance calls to say they discharged him. He was slurring so badly that I could hardly understand him. I was really worried and upset. About 30 minutes later, around 9:30 I get a call from his niece telling me that he had to be taken back to the ED by ambulance because, as they were driving down the interstate he started having extreme pain and vomiting. When he got to the hospital he was in cardiac arrest and had to be intubated. He suffered multiple cardiac arrests,acute respiratory failure,retroperitoneal hemorrhage,hemorrhagic shock,acute kidney failure, sepsis, hypoxia, acute blood loss and many other things. He lost 6 units of blood and had to have multiple transfusions. Now the hospital nor Dr. Jason Coker want to take responsibility for their negligence from prematurely discharging my fiance. He also suffered short term memory loss when he was in the hospital, from the cardiac arrests, hypoxia and sepsis. He is still dealing with that and more due to the negligence of Dr, Jason Coker and Trident Medical Center. Prayers for anyone that goes there that you get out alive and well! read more

Absolutely terrible! I can't believe this hospital is still open with all these reviews and stories from friends telling me to never go there. I was very hesitant to go but my son was sounding horrible so I figured I would just try, NEVER AGAIN. I brought my son in with croup a few months ago and the triage nurse was real sweet with him but the place was so dirty! There was blood on the seat, gauze and garbage on the floor, they would leave the door open while giving my son his care, the hospital smelled terrible like they literally never clean just disgusting! I noticed a few of the nurses didn't wear gloves This is by far one of the worst hospitals I've ever seen and horribly unprofessional. read more

I begged BEGGED EMS not to take me here!! Any and everyone I've known to be admitted here has been treated terribly, come out worse, or died. I'm now a Trident statistic. I was in a bad car accident. My worst injuries were that I broke my back in 4 places and had a calcaneal compound fracture. 1st in the ER they were refusing to give me any pain meds bc saw I had taken Suboxone OVER 10YRS AGO. Finally after x-rays, blood work and hours of being left to lay there they gave me something right B4 foot surgery. I came out of foot surgery screaming about my back. They told me they did not have the hardware they needed to fix my back so I would have to lay there for 3 days, still, at the risk of being paralyzed. Now remember bc I took Suboxone over 10yrs ago they gave me minimal to no pain meds. I was in a horror movie. Finally the day came to do my back surgery. Which I was told I'd feel much better once it was done. BS!! I awoke screaming and was told to be quiet that this was a quiet place "ICU". I then demanded to speak to SOMEONE who could arrange a transfer to another hospital. The floor Dr. who was later fired, due to his excess of drinking, I was told. Told me I couldn't leave no other hospital would take me since I had back surgery. Which I later found was BS. After another week of mistreatment, especially from the nurses, I signed myself out. Come to find out the doctor butchered my back, which required an 11hr surgery to fix, as well as the foot Dr, which took 6 more surgeries to fix. It's been 3yrs and I'm finally able to walk on my own again thanks to MUSC!! TRIDENT took years of my life, lied to me, mangled me, robbed me, treated me in ways I've only seen in movies. This place shouldn't be open!! They are truly the worst of the worst. I've done research into the company that owns Trident facilities as well as others. If you think the things you can see are terrible, think about the things you cannot!! read more

Care was awesome for my Brother I am not going into details it would take me all day. But the billing dept stinks. You can't get through to them or when you do they tell you it's not the right place give you another number then that number isn't right then you fax them paperwork for which nobody has and your limited on time cause your trying to get financial assistance for them and if you don't get it in the right amount of time he won't be eligible to get it. We are from another state as well which makes it even worse. I am beyond frustrated. It's been 4 months since the accident and i am still fighting the phone system. I am about to give up and drive down there and sit all day if i have to in order to get what i need!! GRRRR read more

My husband was experiencing chest pain and EMS will not give us any option but to go to Trident even though Berkeley Roper is just as close‼ in the emergency room, they had to shock his heart, which is similar to being tazed! This was Saturday morning around three or 4 AM‼ it took a while, but finally they found him a room, and Tuesday morning they did sedate him before shocking, his heart to try to. It is a fib regulate it. Lowcountry cardiology works out of Tridentt hospital, but Dr. Looser who is our cardiologist did not do the procedure but one of his partners! We only saw him once, and a kidney doctor once! I had to call the nurse to bring his meals the only other doctor we saw was the doctor on duty and they did not send him home with the medicine to keep his heart rhythm steady, and the drug stores did not have it, and he was released from the hospital about five or 6 PM and should've had the proper medicine he would've needed at least for a couple of days‼ I never saw them take his vitals and he was released that Tuesday evening, although he had not slept in several days! He wasn't able to sleep, and I called my doctor several times without a response until Friday when I demanded an appointment on Monday! We were able to meet with his physician assistant who did some test and put him on some water pills and he lost about at least 15 pounds in two days and was finally able to sleep after the water that was in his lungs left his body‼ we have change doctors because they go only to Tridentt hospital, which has a reputation and the saying that says if you go into Tridentt you don't come out‼ well my husband did come out but he is weak and we have a new Cardiologist who works through MUSC and has an office for visits on the same street as Trident and is very near us‼ oh, because I have mobility problems are use the valet parking and gave the girl a tip when I got there and my keys. When he was released, we were both wheeled out by nurses to the front, and the valet stand was move inside, and nobody knew at the desk or anywhere what was going on! One of the nurses found a bowl with my keys in them. Thank goodness we had a friend who helped us drive around the parking lot until I could find my car because the valet people had just left and they had my phone number and did not call me to tell me anything about how to access my car where my car was‼ We drove around and found my car and we went to the pharmacy and that's when we found out that the prescription has been called into the Drug Store, but they would not have that medicine until the next day and would not be filled until after 230 p.m. and he was supposed to take one Tuesday night and two a day so he missed his Wednesday morning pill also that helps regulate his heart and that was the reason we came in there is because he was experiencing cardiac a fib and flutter‼ so I had to hold my breath until we got the call after 230 that his medicine was ready to be picked up and I immediately got it and he finally was able to take that pill which is toxic but necessary to keep his heart regulated for now‼ unfortunately because we live near Trident, that will be the hospital the EMS will be taking us to either one of us have to go to the emergency room‼ berkeley, Roper and Trident Hospital both are 10 minutes away from us and Berkeley Roper, has Cardiology listed first and the services they offer on Yelp and on their site‼ it was my understanding that if you have a stroke incident, then you are to go to Trident or MUSC and if you have a heart incident, then you are to go to Roper‼ this was explaining to us at the Roper emergency facility on University Boulevard‼ read more

If only we would have read all the reviews BEFORE my mother (who is 90 years old), went into the ER for vomiting and almost passing out. She was taken in on a Thursday night, put on a list (supposedly) for a hospital bed and not admitted to the hospital til Sunday late afternoon...no rooms available, so they said. A battery of tests were performed on her (2 MRI's - one on one day and the second on the following day because the tech failed to get a clear picture the first time); had to lay in a wet bed multiple times til someone finally responded to her plea for help; was told at one point when she requested an additional blanket that they 'didn't have any available'; and was NEVER told until the day BEFORE she was released into the hospital to 'move it or lose it' and, at that time, it was already too late...of course when they tried to get her up she couldn't walk! This was all downright elderly abuse and elderly neglect. And all for VERTIGO!! Good Lord...this couldn't have been diagnosed at the onset of the admittance to the ER so that NONE of this would have happened and should have NEVER HAPPENED? If things would have been done differently, my mother wouldn't be in Rehab now...she would be home recovering. Her motor skills were fine before she went in and now we're looking at 3-4 days in Rehab...more money being spent. I wouldn't wish what happened to my mother on anyone if I can help it. And people, read reviews before you do anything. As I said above, if I would have read what everyone said before listening to the ambulance driver about what a good hospital you were, I would have demanded he take us somewhere else. Also, as a side note, the ER during the time my mother was there had people crowding the ER waiting room, sitting in chairs waiting inside admittance, and LINING THE WALLS IN GURNEYS...the walls in gurneys in the cold, noise, non-privacy public eye. Grandfather was admitted here after pneumonia. They ran a FEW tests and found out what was wrong. He had a collapsed lung so this was critical to get him to better health. The doctors helping him never found out what was wrong and just gave him antibiotics and anti-fungal to just "try something" . Long story short, he was never attended too, often left with dirty sheets, and just poorly treated and it was SO SAD to see, especially in such a critical time. Weeks later he passed and grandma got pneumonia just stays after his funeral. Went to a different hospital, And after just a couple hours of testing, found the virus in grandma that was causing both of them to catch pneumonia and treated it and she is in better health thankfully. read more

Worst hospital ever!!!! when you call the nurses they never come to the room until you have to go looking for them yourself, many nurses do not even know what they are doing to the patient, the housekeeping service never comes to the room, they don't give a fuck when the patient has an emergency. an update..I did finally receive my 2500 refund after multiple phone calls to the top administration. I received an apology letter in the mail. This hospital is so convenient to my home, along with all my other doctors nearby..I would have hated to discontinue going there, so I'm glad they finally did the right thing. The nurses/staff are excellent, and I loved my spacious room with a recliner in the cardiovascular unit. read more

Worst hospital I have ever been to. Came in with a deep hand laceration. Stood in waiting area waiting for a room while dripping blood all over the waiting room. Took me back to a room then made me go back to the lobby because they said the room wasn't ready. When I finally got to a room they took off the rags I had my hand wrapped in. Decided they needed to stiitch it up. They stitched it and I went home. Came back 10 days later to get the stitches taken out and the would open back up and was wide open! They told me I was going to have to go see a specialist. They out steri strips on my hand and put me in a splint. When I finally met with the specialist. He couldn't believe how they let me leave the hospital with steri strips. I had to have a procedure done. He went in there and cleaned the wound out and got it re stitched. After being stitched for a second time and by an amazing doctor the wound did close. It took my 3 months to regain function in my hand. If I ever get hurt again and I'm in the area I would rather drive myself anywhere else but trident. I will never return to this poor tan hospital. I'm surprised they havnt gone under. Please if you value your time/money/health do not go to this place. read more

Went to ER and encountered the WORST doctor we have ever seen, Michael W. Boone. Although the nurses were friendly and the exam room was nice, Dr. Boone's negligence in listening to his patient and improper examination led us to Summerville Medical ER by nightfall. Dr. Boone's bedside manner leaves A LOT to be desired. We will never go to Trident for anything because of Dr. Boone's treatment. read more

I want to start by saying that this hospital was very responsive during an emergency we had earlier this year. Every other time we've had an experience with this hospital the majority of the staff has displayed very little professionalism. From a doctor's nonchalant delivery of the news that a friends husband didn't make it to the harsh, non-customer oriented attitudes from the rest of the staff, I hope to limit my contact with this hospital. read more

There's a reason you only average 1.5 stars. Recently brought a dear friend into your ER who was alternating between howling in pain and struggling to breathe, and sobbing continuously during both. After being checked in by your receptionist, who was clearly less than impressed with anyone's needs, we sat in your waiting room for no less than an hour without a single person at least checking to see if my friend needed more immediate attention. Let me tell you, it was a joy feeling all the curious stares of the strangers in the waiting room as I tried to comfort my distraught friend, who had already vomited more than once before we got there, unsure of what might be happening to her. We were finally brought in for vitals and led into a room where my friend was "treated" with IV fluids and a single dose of an anti-anxiety med, after the most cursory of "evaluations" determined this was some kind of panic attack. That was it, end of treatment. Oh wait, my favorite part: while we were in the room, while my friend was still alternating between crying and gasping for air, someone from billing came in and wanted to ask a bunch of questions in order to set up payment!! Are you kidding me? Do you also stop surgeons while they're removing bullets from some poor shot person to ask them if they have insurance or do you just go through their belongings and find their wallets? Fast forward a few months and now come two separate bills totaling over $6000. For a bag of saline and a single dose of an anti-anxiety drug. Those two things literally cost as much as a decent used car that you could drive for years?! And the only thing you can negotiate is HOW you will pay, not how much you are able to?! This is what our "healthcare" system has come to in this country. Each one of us is one visit to the ER away from bankruptcy. But I digress. The bottom line is you ought to be ashamed to charge poor folks these kinds of prices for actually providing QUALITY care, much less the substandard level of service we observed that evening. Folks, just don't bother. My advice, before you are faced with an honest to god emergency, do your research in advance and choose a better place to take your loved ones. read more

dr hardy treated me like a dog. Dr hardy do not have any bedside manner. Dr hardy was very rude to me. Dr told me that I was now following his treatment plan. Dr hardy act like he stay in the house with me. I was following dr hardy treatment plan. Dr hardy told me not to come back. Dr hardy told me to go elsewhere. Dr said that I was picking at my grafted skin for it to come off. I call dr hardy office and told them that peace of my grafted skin is coming off. I was trying to get a appointment to see dr hardy. Every time I call dr hardy off to make me a appointment the receptionist will call me back and say that dr hardy said take me off of the schedule. Dr hardy even had his nurse to right me up some orders for surgery. I was told to arrive at 6:30 that morning for surgery. When I got there dr hardy change his mine about the surgery. dr hardy told me that he will not see me without a dermatologist note. My dermatologist fax the note over to dr hardy. When dr hardy received the note he said that he note longer want to see me ever again. I went to my dermatologist like he told me to. Dr hardy said that I use to come to him every week which was a lie. Don't go to the dr. His receptionist is rude to. I don't want to leave a star. read more

Let's see, if you don't mind someone stealing your loved ones cellphone, asking every person that enters their room to change their dressing, making multiple phone calls (after being hung up on) to dietary but are told to keep calling back because they're too busy, hunting down wound care to give them a proper dressing or wonder why your loved one isn't being rotated every 2 hours then TMC is your place. With the ceiling holes, dirty floors and all that above I'm not sure how they stay in business. They're no longer the only game in town. read more

Brought my mom to ER with chest pain and difficulty breathing. Her bp was 225/102 and they checked it twice just to make sure and what sis they so next - sat her in hall for over and hour and yes I understand others may have had worse issues but wouldn't you think theyd atleast recheck? Well they didnt until I said something. They started an IV after an hour and a half and used too small of a needle....isnt standard er IV needle 18 or 20?!?! Never coming back!!! read more

My sister was scheduled for surgery with Dr. Katsanis who we had met and liked. But later we became worried about Triident's very low ratings and the terrible comments many patients made about the place. A couple of days ago I called Katsanis's assistant who we'd also met, to inquire. No answer. Called again today. No answer. You'd think that a doctor with a good reputation to uphold would be on the phone himself. A big red flag went up for us so today she found another surgeon at a university hospital. I'm at UCLA and have studied organizations for many years and all the signs I can see say "beware". read more

I've chosen to keep coming to this facility because my doctor is awesome, but after the past few times I've been there, I unfortunately will have to find a new PCP. For the past few months, I had been seriously sick from something. I called to schedule an appointment with my PCP, but because she was busy and I couldn't wait anymore, they scheduled me with someone else. I know that a lot of these doctors are relatively new and following protocol, but I also felt like this new doctor didn't listen to a word I said. She gave me medicine I told her I already knew wasn't going to work (based on the other meds I had already taken) and after about 60 minutes of back and forth, and sitting alone in the room, she finally sent me on my way. Long story short, the medicine didn't work and I felt worse. I went back and still couldn't get in with my PMP unless I wanted to wait for about a week. The new doctor I saw was wonderful and very thorough. Pros: Eager new doctors that want to get to the bottom of what's wrong with you. Everyone seems rather nice. The head doctor in charge knows his business! Cons: This facility has a "dirty" feeling. The equipment is old, the furniture is falling to pieces. There are cameras in the rooms--I've honestly never seen this before. Is this a thing?? I REALLY didn't like that at all and felt kinda dirty knowing my doctor's appointment was being recorded. Feels a lot like an urgent care--even if you have an appointment, you can wait very long periods of time. read more

This place has an odor, my girlfriend is a cna and works for Baylor Scott&White and Seton hospitals in Texas. I have been in many hospitals and never smelled a place like this. It's probably due to them not cleaning the rooms everyday. We are here for her dad who broke his hip, and it was clear that they hadn't cleaned the room for days, there was sticky stuff all over the floor. Any time you call the nurses station to request something they just hang up without acknowledging they heard you. The food sucks, I have had much better hospital food. The only good thing is he did have some nice staff. They might not l always did their job up to my standards but they were nice. Overall our experience has been less than average. One last note is that the faculties are not well maintained. Holes in the walls, leaking pipes and missing ceiling tiles, this is just in our room alone. Ok so a new doctor came in today and we brought up a few concerns, she listened and took them seriously and happily did some tests to alleviate our worry instead of brushing us off, this has made us a bit happier. read more

THE WORST ER VISIT I HAVE EVER HAD I went to ER late one Friday night with terrible pain in my side, was triaged quite swiftly and the nurse felt certain I had a kidney stone. Was then left in the waiting area for a couple of hours despite repeatedly asking for something to control my worsening pain. When I was called back to the treatment area a PA spent maybe 2 mins with me, gave me a pain shot and sent me for a CAT scan. During the wait for the scan results my pain worsened and I literally paced in circles for an hour unable to sit or lay down due to pain, staff members saw me but failed to check on me once (there was only one other patient in the unit so they weren't exactly rushed off their feet). The PA returned and without sitting me down or trying to soften what she was about to say, told me in a that I had a tumour on my right ovary and said "you have ovarian cancer, see this Dr, we will send him the scan" she gave me contact info for a gynecologic oncology specialist then turned and left. A nurse gave me discharge papers and a script for painkillers and we were left standing there wondering what had just happened. I left traumatized and in terrible pain. By the time Monday rolled around we were emotional wrecks, I called the specialists office but they had never heard of me and it took 3 calls and a conversation with nursing director Joan Manning and Dr. Perry at Trident to get them to send the scan to the Dr. While I had the Trident Dr on the phone I asked them how the ER diagnosed cancer without a biopsy, he said it was the radiologist who read the scan that saw "other markers" that due to their knowledge and experience indicated to them the mass was cancer. Thankfully this turned out to be wrong! But the stress and anxiety caused by these fools cannot be undone and of course they billed me thousands of dollars for their expertise - they did not even reduce the pain I was in that night....what am I paying for? When I received the ER survey in the mail I did not hold back! A hospital administrator called Scott reached out. However, his first misguided attempt to talk to me was less than 24 hours after I had major abdominal surgery and he waltzed into my hospital room to discuss the survey he had just got! I threw him out the room. He called me 2 weeks later and claimed to be very concerned about the events of that night, we talked a while and he said he would be calling me back. HE HAS NOT, unfortunately I did not ask for his last name or number due to meds fogging up my brain. However on the other complaints on this page I found the phone number for Rod Whiting Vice President of Public Relations and Communications, so I called and left him a message...3 TIMES. He has not called back either. So now I am writing this crappy review, hoping it may prompt someone at Trident to sit up and take notice. I will never use their ER again, and cannot recommend you do either. The only reason my surgery was there is because my Dr uses their facility. read more
