I…read morecannot say enough good about the attention and caring the staff at CPEC provided to my adult son recently. Sadly, my son has suffered with mental illness for the past 11 years; the illness rendered him homeless over the past two years, resulting to his landing in Phoenix. In June, my son contacted me and let me know he was receiving help for his illness. And, in late July, I had the opportunity to travel to out to Phoenix from Dallas, to see my him and make a best effort to get him some of the things he was in desperate need of. Since my son had been without his eyeglasses since January and since he has always had a very strong eyeglasses prescription, being effectively blind and only seeing blurry images beyond about eight inches in front of his face, that which he needed most was eyeglasses! Because my son's prescription is so strong and because of his apparent mental incapacity, I did not want to take him to a store like America's Best or Lenscrafters, because I believed he warranted an extra level of attention, to achieve the best possible outcome. Well, after a little bit of reading reviews on Yelp* and weighing all options, I decided to give CPEC a call. Since I was only going to be in Phoenix for three days, I was elated when I was told that CPEC had an available appointment the following day. My son and I arrived on-time and were promptly greeted and given the necessary "new patient" forms. While I filled out the forms for my son, he was called to be seen. I was graciously invited to accompany him during the process. The examination technician who saw my son, was friendly and communicative, and when it became necessary for the technician to physically force my son's head and eyeball to be on the exact point it needed to be, in order to achieve the correct imagery, she showed compassion and gentleness in both her tone and touch. Next, my son was examined by Dr. Kelsey Harraghy. Dr. Harraghy above all, was equally compassionate and thorough! She was patient and attentive and, made me feel that my son was in the best of care. Her tone was gentle and caring and her bedside manner impeccable! Dr. Harraghy not only showed sincerity in ensuring my son's prescription was as exact as possible, but she also went the extra mile to find a contacts prescription that would work to give my son eyesight, until his eyeglasses order was completed and ready for pickup. The impact of Dr. Harraghy's caring cannot be overstated and it became apparent when my son placed the contacts in - having his sight restored after seeing only blurry for the previous six plus months - and his countenance as he observed himself in the mirror changed to one of an almost angelic quality. He appeared genuinely childlike and mesmerized at his ability to once again see. Thank you, Dr. Harraghy!! We then sat down to place the order for my son's glasses. Everything was presented with patience and caring and in a very low-pressure manner. From beginning to end, start to finish, CPEC took excellent care to ensure my son was made to feel appreciated and genuinely cared for. I am sincerely grateful for the staff at CPEC for showing my son and I the very best of humanity and kindness. Thank you, CPEC Staff!! I cannot recommend CPEC highly enough. I was sent to a doctor in Phoenix who quickly referred me to Dr Maynard, who was an expert with my specialised needs. He was so amazingly excellent and knowledgable. I love the entire staff and have always had the absolute best experiences I was so nervous when Dr. Maynard retired, but Dr. Heffelfinger has continued to give excellent care to us and any nervousness I had about him retiring has vanished. I have absolute zero problem with driving 2.5 hours for my appointments. They are worth it and have always been able to work with my schedule. I work 7:00am-3:30pm and the latest appointment they do is 3:15pm. They are open Monday-Thursday 8:00am-5:30pm and Fridays 8:00-1:00pm. They do not work Saturdays. 2. I work remotely, a desk job, and my vision would start off fine in the beginning of my day, but a few hours into my day; my vision would get blurry for a few hours, then go back to being fine in the afternoon. The doctor kept testing my vision in the exam room; as in seeing if there was something wrong with my lenses. It turned out my eyes were dry. How can a doctor not know when a patients eye is dry? That is alarming to me. Luckily, he has been patient throughout the process; but is frustrating to see an optometrist who cannot detect dry eyes. 3. The bifocal was so low I had to tilt my head back to even use them. That was two weeks ago. It is June 2, 2025 as of this writing. I called AECC this morning for the status of my reconfigured sunglasses. The CSR could not even tell me if or when they'd be shipped! This is by far the worst new glasses purchase I've ever had. Who knows when I'll have my new sunglasses...properly made? I really loved the staff & the opthalmologist. This review pains me.
