I urge you to carefully consider this before contracting with any hospice provider. Unfortunately, our experience with Faith & Hope made an already painful situation even harder. In April 2025, my mom suffered a massive stroke. She was placed under Continuous Care (CC), which meant she required critical, around-the-clock nursing support. We were told her case would be re-evaluated after three days. However, the care was stopped in less than 24 hours and we were given only 4 hours' notice that services would be discontinued. At that point, it was clear our needs no longer aligned with Faith & Hope's philosophy of care. We scrambled to hire private help on extremely short notice. That night, my mom was in significant pain & experienced agitation. She needed her medication adjusted and an increase of the dosage frequency to help manage her symptoms. The next day, we made final attempts to Faith & Hope to reassess mom's eligibility for CC, even though the on-call night nurse, when we asked, did acknowledge that we were free to seek another hospice provider. We waited all day for a response from Faith & Hope, but heard nothing. Faced with another evening without adequate care, we transferred my mom to a different hospice. They gave us the right care without hesitation. Sadly, our mom passed away only 4 days later. The only positive experience we had with Faith & Hope was with Nurse Theresa. She cared for my mom with compassion, dedication and a true commitment to patient advocacy. Theresa's thoughtfulness and support helped guide my brothers and me through an incredibly challenging time, and for that we are deeply grateful.

She began with Palliative Care and transitioned into Hospice Care. Navigating care is an incredibly daunting journey, but having them by our side made all the difference. What stood out most was their unfailing promptness; whenever we had a request for supplies, equipment, or medical advice, they responded immediately. Beyond the logistics, they are truly compassionate professionals. They didn't just treat my mother as a patient; they treated her with dignity and our entire family with kindness. During our most difficult moments, they provided the wisdom and guidance we desperately needed. They helped us understand what to expect and gave us the peace of mind to focus on being present with my mom rather than worrying about the details of her care. If you are looking for a team that is transparent, reliable, and deeply caring, I highly recommend Maximum Care Hospice. Thank you Max, Victoria (our nurse), and Aylin (comfort care nurse) for everything! We could not have gotten through my mom's last few days without you! You were a blessing to our family!

During the pandemic, my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. It progressed quickly, and I was left…read moreto care for her on my own after my dad died from cancer in 2022. Buena Vista was recommended by her geriatric doctor at Kaiser, who told me that their care was better than that provided by her own employer. I took her word for it and scheduled my appointment with them. She was accepted quickly, and from February 2024 through September 2025, she was in their care, providing several visits to my home per week. There were some bumps in the road, which accounts for four stars instead of five (mainly due to under- or constantly revolving staffing and an original social worker who should be in an academic line of work, rather than a public-facing one), but overall, it was a positive experience and I would recommend BVH to anyone in need of such care for their loved one(s). I would have been doomed without the medications and supplies provided by BVH. Having to navigate her care by myself was more difficult than I can put into words-- you never imagine having to wipe down walls that have been finger-painted by the feces of a 70-year-old, or carrying the dead weight of a 120-pound woman from a bathroom to a chair because she's forgotten how to use her legs. Her social worker (Marci) stayed with me on the phone while I vented and cried, and offered warm words of kindness. The volunteer coordinator (Kellie) gave me friendship when my world had dwindled down to nothing but centring around my mom and her constant supervision. My second volunteer, Jacky, was amazing. We formed a friendship and still text each other weekly. Unfortunately, because my mom remained on hospice for more than the typical length of time (3 months), due to her condition, she cycled through a handful of nurses, but we ended up with the nurse we liked the most, after she came back from maternity leave. Karen is one of the sweetest people I have ever met in my life, and she always showed what felt like genuine care and concern for my mom, as well as myself. Estephany was a godsend. I feel that the most underappreciated "angels" of hospice are without a doubt the bathing assistants. They have to put up with tantrums, screaming, crying, and general awkwardness of showering and dressing injured and elderly people who are scared, confused, and sometimes violent. She felt like a friend to me in the time she was with us, and I looked forward to her visits. She was so good with my mom. I'm starting to cry as I type this because she had to endure the same weird ramblings and repeated questions three times a week, every week for over a year, and always did so with a smile. She treated my mom like a human being, with love and respect. That is probably my biggest takeaway from my experience with Buena Vista-- they allowed my mom, who suffered through this tragic disease, to spend the last leg of her life with DIGNITY, which is in short supply for the addled and elderly, trapped in their failing bodies and minds that betray them. Thank you to everyone at BVH who helped us during this dark time. Your generosity will never be forgotten.

The last thing families need during these difficult stressful times is added stress from terrible cavalier, and lacking service. They refuse to accept their horrible mistake which is the TRUTH. I did NOT have a problem with mom getting discharge I am very thankful for it as I am thankful she transitioned from hospice to home health, I did have a major problem with their disgusting discharge procedures, their refusal to take responsibility for the wrong information Maria gave me would affect my elderly mom's well being. My mother's discharge was atrocious and very poorly handled, yes she was given a 2 week supplies and equipment after discharge however this does NOT excuse them for the terrible treatment the last day. I would even consider it inhumane. 2 days before the medical equipment was supposed to be picked up a nurse named Maria informed me that NO date was actually set for moms medical equipment to be picked up. (Wrong information) 48 hrs. later and about 1 hour before mom's bed time a receptionist by the name of Samantha informs me by telephone that law enforcement would be called out if I did not surrender the hospital bed, I was shocked and panicked and in utter disbelief. Yes I elevated my voice I was outraged for the handling of their mistake and the misinformation they gave me and to be told the police would be called out if mom did not surrender the hospital bed. I had to call public health to investigate their terrible discharge practices, ** the investigator advised me on 2/16/2024 to share my experience so others would be made aware of my experience. They did NOT care when I informed them that mom would be sleeping on the floor because of their terrible mistake, the case manager named Vera korkanovic declined to speak to me to defuse this matter, or to find a resolution. The owner Tali Fayfel refused to speak to me as well. She later calls screaming at me. The receptionist screamed at me talked over me and repeatedly told me moms hospital bed was going to be picked up that evening no matter what! In panic and in the evening hours I began taking out some medical equipment outside, I had no idea how mom's health would be affected sleeping on the floor that night. ****The only nurse that stood out from everyone was a nurse named DAMARIS she was consistently caring, professional, and patient. ** I did email hospice to let them know I would be sharing this horrible experience so other families would not have to go through this. Sorry if you view this as threatening. * Social worker did not return calls/ text messages for days. * Case manager refused to take my calls a number of times when I needed guidance for discharge. I'm still trying to find out why they had her on morphine when she was not in pain. I talked to the Roze Room nurse on our second meeting two days later. All he would tell me about was his wife's cancer. He kept saying my sister was on comfort care. the comfort care that they gave my sister was morphine. She went from the point of eating food to being on baby food within the month that they had her. She was so drugged up she was not eating for days at a time. She died a month after she was drugged up due to her body shutting down due to lack of nutrients. (In my opinion) She had a prognosis of six months to a year. She was not eating because she was on morphine and drugged. If you put your family member on Hospice, make sure it is once they are truly needing the Hospice due to pain. Learn from my mistake.

When she finally became permanently bed-bound for the last year, and a half of her life, that's when comfort care hospice stepped in to watch over my grandma. We first started off with one RN-nurse visit every Friday, and two visits from another helper who would help me change, and give my grandma a bed-bath. As her health grew more concerning they upped the visits to a full five times during the week, and if there was ever an emergency, we could always call them over the weekend for someone to come out over any concerns we had. They treated my grandma with love, and respect during her final moments, and were extremely supportive of me too while I was taking care of her all the time. There's honestly nothing better than being in the comfort of your own home with a loved one whose about to pass away, rather than be in a hospital hooked up to beeping monitors, and noises all over the place. This hospice service was wonderful, and they always looked out for the best for my grandma. I hope when I'm finally on my own deathbed, I'll be able to have the same comfort of hospice, because it's so lovely having someone visit your home, and convenient.
