Large variety of well prepared, tasty dishes that you would expect to find in a Mexican restaurant such as Fajitas, Carne Asada, Burritos, Enchiladas, - even Chimichangas. Some of the best Chile Rellenos and Tamales north of the Rio Grande can be found here. Really outstanding Mexican food. I could have tried everything on the menu. Unlike most American restaurants the portions were not over facing in their size. That's not to say that they were small, but not unreasonably large as to create waste. The whole party of 6 polished off the wide variety of food we ordered and were delighted with it. Back for our annual camping trip to Oroville and our annual stop at Trino's. No problem getting a table this time around as we stopped by in late August and were advised that the kids in Washington State and Alberta were already back in school...so pretty empty town. The chips and salsa were as I remember...fresh and with a kick. I had the chicken burrito and two in our party ordered the fajita's. I think next time I need to order the fajita's as the smell of the caramelized onions with the fried green pepper, mushrooms and beef was amazing. We came away very full and packed the fajita leftovers for lunch the next day. This time around we ordered the Extra Large strawberry banana margarita...it was truly huge and happy to say we managed to finish it. We celebrated a birthday on this visit and they came out with a complimentary deep fried ice cream (unfortunately it was not great), placed a sombrero on the birthday boy and sang happy birthday....it was a nice touch. I love going to Trino's. I love the cabbage mix he serves with the chips and I usually order the Chinichanga Grande that has 3 different meats in it. It is so delicious. I also love the chicken fajita and the Natcho Grande too. Trino is always hospitable and asks how you are and tells you that it is nice to see you. read more

Went here on a Friday night. Wasn't busy at all. I thought the portions were very small for the price and the Texas taco said was mostly lettuce and not much else. My husband asked the waitress if they had beer on tap and she said yes. He asked if she was sure as it didn't look like she was understanding. She assured him that they had beer on tap. We were greeted with warm friendly service. The homeade salsa ohhhh that salsa is drinkable. Fresh with a nice spicey kick. I could have sat and just ate several bowls of chips and salsa. We ordered a tamale, chicken enchilada and a beef taco/ chille relleno combo plate. Everything was authentic and so delicious! I live in Seattle and we are surrounded by tons of great Mexican food. This place belongs right at the top for awesome food. I will definitely make it back here sometime. Infact I will stop before I leave and get some salsa to take home! read more

I don't like Mexican food, ever. My husband does, always. I thought the food here was very good, my husband did as well. The cabbage salsa they serve with the homemade chips was awesome (as were the chips), the salsa was almost inedible for us because it was so hot (and we like hot!). We ordered sour cream with it too cool it down and then it tasted great. We were there on a Friday night and it took nearly 1 hour to get our food, when we were leaving the waitress told us that it wasn't really that busy and some nights the wait can be longer - so be warned. We tried to order the enchiladas verde as a previous reviewer mentioned, the waitress was apologetic and said it was as too busy to do that night but said they would definitely make it when it's not so busy. I would have come back anyways, but I will definitely go back to try those, maybe lunch - I'll bet they're amazing. They serve several different flavours of margarita, and they were very good. Not like some of the watered down or super sweet ones we get in Canada. We shared an XL between us and it was perfect and so yummy. A great fish bowl size for about $16.50. We were prepared for nasty bathrooms, they were bad when we first got there but by the time we left someone had cleaned them up. The decor is dated but it just seems to fit with the location just off the highway in Oroville. Minus one star for not really deep frying the ice cream prior to serving (and the long wait). Perhaps they deep fry it and then freeze it but it is served freezing cold, not true deep fried ice cream which should be crispy and hot on the outside. Our bill was around $50 including tip for the two of us, we thought it was a good value. Recommended and will return. read more

Maybe I hit this place on a bad night but the food was positively terrible. Ordered Carne Asada and I have to say it was the worse I have ever had. My son had Toquitos and at 15 years old he wouldn't finish them. Daughter had probably the best thing which was pork burrito. The Chips where stale. The rice was hard. The beans had more cheese on them than beans. The hot sauce tasted old and our water cups were never filled even after asking for more water. Can't say I would go back here unless it was to drink a lot and then eat the food. read more

Husband and I went for early dinner. Our first time at Trino's. I ordered a blended margarita that was not blended and was way too strong. I do like alcohol in my cocktail but this was way too much. My husband had the Chimichanga Grande that was supposed to have several different meats. It only had shredded beef. Plate was filled with beans and rice. I had the Quesadilla Cameron appetizer that was just cheese and tiny (thinking canned) shrimp. Really disheartening to pay so much for a lousy meal. I would probably have given 3 1/2 stars if this restaurant was put up next to my favorite in a bigger city. But under all the circumstances they deserve a big fat five! We came on a stormy Tuesday in the middle of a high travel season. The place was packed with campers who had gotten washed out of their fireside dinner plans and that meant several large parties. There was only one other restaurant in town that was open and it did not look appealing apparently not only to us. We found the service to be great and the food was far better than I would have ever expected. And anyone who knows me would say that's about the best compliment any Mexican restaurant can get. I am extremely picky about my Mexican food. Keep it up guys! Don't change or relax because your the only game in town or soon there will be no game in town. Beware of Food Poisoning. I dined at Trino's while passing through Oroville mid September. After mostly finishing a combo plate of tacos and an enchilada I started having intense stomach cramps. I told the waitress who informed the manager. They completely ignored me for nearly 1/2 hour. When I spoke with the manager he told me to leave and go to a hospital. I did. After a painful hour drive to Omak I was admitted to emergency at MidValley Hospital. The attending physician's diagnosis of the symptoms was probable acute food poisoning. The pain and discomfort lasted most of the night. Aside from this intense physical stress, the most unpleasant experience of the night was the complete indifference of the manager and staff at Trino's.
