This rating is based solely on my one, and only, experience with Mike Bailey. I have a small (8.5 lb) dog and as recommended by Dr. Lueking during her annual physical this summer, she needed her teeth cleaned. Dr. Lueking has seen Maggie a few times with no troubles at all. A few days before the procedure to have her teeth cleaned, I had to take her in for a blood draw. I have always been with her during her visits there, but this time they took her back to the lab and said it would be just a minute. It took 20 minutes and the Practice Manager and one of the Kennel Technicians came out looking like they had wrestled and alligator! :) They said Maggie had really struggled with the blood draw. I had a nice one-on-one conversation later with the Practice Manager about this and she mentioned that with small pets, they can be squirmy. Also, it is harder to find a vein and they often have to stick the pets 2 or 3 times, and as she mentions "Nobody would like that!" She did say that Maggie did not try to bite anyone. With that as the background, it is now the day of her procedure. In walks Mike and with a completely different demeanor that Dr. Lueking. He asks "what are we doing for him?"... my dog is a female, Maggie. (Looking back at the situation, I know he would have/should have read her file, and it became obvious he knew that her blood draw didn't go well) After I corrected him, he says "Let's take a look" and goes to check her teeth. Maggie bristles a bit and he grabs the scruff of her neck, hard and tightly, and says "You are not in charge today" - at which point, Maggie is so frightened that she releases both her bladder and bowels, all over me, the exam table and floor. Mike snickered and said "she got you" and handed me some paper towels to clean up. I was shocked. He then proceeds to lecture me as to why this happened, sounding like a dog whisperer wanna be. After all of that and the cleanup, he came back with her shot to put her under. I held her and she only winced when the shot went in her back leg. He gave us a minute and then took her, told me it would be a few hours. I told Maggie to "be a good girl" and his response was "oh, she won't have a thing to say". Taken alone, yes she would be under and wouldn't be barking or squirming. Given everything that happened, it sounded more like a threat or a "I will control this dog" type of statement. After I left, I was pretty upset and emailed them letting them know this. When I went to get her, he said "I have a note here - let's talk". I'll be honest, I was upset and let him know it. He immediately put up his defenses, never apologized for anything, and in fact, started to tell me I wasn't welcome back at all, but stopped short and said that he wouldn't allow me to see him again, which was a given anyway. I believe, he had heard that the techs had trouble with the blood draw, and came in prepared to show her, and me, that HE would be in control and not take any crap from an 8.5 lb dog. He also did a couple of other very childish gestures as I was paying my bill and said "don't act like this isn't the dog's fault" So, I would say to avoid this guy at all costs, especially if you have a small pet.

Even tho I stated I do not want to use the newer vaccines id like to go traditional to be as safe as possible. They claimed they would give an exemption for all others but he has to have rabies due to state law so because of that I wanted to go with a traditional. I called ahead of time to make sure they could do that. They told me they could and it would be a 3 year. I get here and they tell me they just are not gonna order that and not that they cant they just will not. Was already mad when he walked out before even talking to us? I was calm and said that I had talked to someone on the phone who told me he would have the traditional 3 year vaccine he claimed he was to young for a 3 year and that he could only do a 1 but he wont order a year traditional for him. Why was I not told this on the phone? I specifically called to make sure so I didnt waste my time driving here and once getting here absolutely did not deserve the way we were treated or spoken to. Every step of the process from navigating the website and getting on the waitlist to picking up our puppy and getting her home was smooth and professional. There were no surprises, loose strings, or hidden costs. Expectations regarding the waitlist time were realistic and response times are incredibly quick, respectful and friendly. WVP is clearly a reputable breeder with the health and wellness of their puppies and parents in mind. We only had one point of contact (Jason Yoder) throughout the entire adoption process which was nice because it took the chance for confusion or miscommunication out of the process. He checked-in (and still checks in) regularly and always responded within the same day (typically within minutes). Not only did Jason answer all of our questions but he also helped us decide on the puppy that was going to best suit our family's needs and lifestyle. We especially appreciated all of the photos, videos and the personality ranking system they use. Extra effort was also taken to help us navigate through the "preparing for puppy" prep work (puppy proofing the house and yard, setting up vet appointments and training, ordering food and supplies, etc.) in order to ensure a smooth transition when we brought "Harriet" home. We received a generous swag bag full of goodies and necessities (the blanket with her mom and littermates' scent has been incredibly valuable) to help with the transition as well. Once we got Harriet home, it was obvious that WVP put in a bunch of work getting her socialized and weaned prior to the 8-week mark when we picked her up. She has been easy to crate train (we are going into week 3 and she has not had one accident in her crate - she's even sleeping through most of the night!). Our new puppy is sweet and playful with our young daughters as well as any other person who will give her attention. We've had complete strangers come up to us to say how adorable and well-tempered she is and ask where we got her. Our Harriet is an adorable tiny F1B bernedoodle with a well-balanced temperament of curiosity and calm and she's so smart with the training. If you're looking for a bernedoodle, Walnut Valley Puppies is the place!
