I wasn't impressed with Lowe's or CRST who scheduled the install...However Trio Plumbing did an amazing job with the installation, they showed up on time and Scott was excellent, very friendly and personable. 4 years ago called Lowe's to purchase a water heater my service was turned over to Trio to install the installer said " They gave you a short tank" didn't understand what he was saying the installer said this to me. Should I have had a tall tank you trust people to come to your home and not mislead or scam you. Never got any instructions or warranty. So this is 2026 again 4 years later get a letter a permit wasn't pulled and they need to come to inspect water heater. Called permit office in my area asked "Why am I getting a notice well it's not on them or me I was told they should have got a permit and closed it out within months of installing. Now this company is acting like its my fought no one told me anything about me applying for a permit that was their job I paid for the apparently smaller water heater and for installation. Now 4 years later it needs to be closed out and the letter states" thats my responsibility to I get it done. I will never call Lowe's to get anything installed they never told me they outsource to companies I assumed someone from Lowe's would do it. Absolutely unacceptable experience. The owner, Mark, was arrogant, dismissive, and outright disrespectful from the start. Both my wife and I were talked down to, but the way his workers addressed my wife in particular was completely inappropriate; condescending, borderline sexist, and unprofessional. This wasn't just poor customer service, it was a complete lack of basic respect. No one should be treated the way we were. I will never do business with this company again, and if this is the level of contractor that Lowe's chooses to partner with, I will be taking my business elsewhere as well. I used Trio through Lowes to install a Water Heater. The tech was on time and the service was excellent. They hauled off the old heater, cleaned up after themselves and best of all... They installed the Water heater with welded parts. They didn't use shark bite fitting. I use Shark Bite fittings, but I would prefer that the pros do something that I can't. They were also the best priced contractor between Lowes, Home Depot and True Value. read more

Update: Since I left the following review on Google Reviews RE: the owner's condescending attitude, which is also mentioned in numerous other Google and Yelp customer reviews, Trio Plumbing will not mail me an original paid receipt & lien waiver, even though I've paid in full. This is illegal retaliatory behavior so I've turned it over to the BBB (Better Business Bureau). Please read the reviews & don't make the same mistake I did. Mark, (the owner), is very unprofessional, rude, condescending, all attitude, will not allow you to speak 4 words before he talks over you, denies statements that came out of his own mouth, combative, zero customer service skills, etc. I have never been treated like that with any other plumbing company in St. Louis. When Trio arrived, I asked a simple question as to why the old water heater drainage hoses (3" wide total for 3 drainage hoses tethered together with zip ties) centered on top of the floor drain (4 1/2" wide floor drain) were lying on top of the drain & not inserted inside the drain? I stated that my concern was if the 50 gallon old water heater would empty out, wouldn't it make more sense if the hoses were inserted inside the drain but Trio told me the hoses don't need to be inside the drain. 3. After the work was completed & Trio left, I thought I only saw 1 shut off valve & knew that the before photos showed 2 shut off valves. I asked you why they removed 1 of the shut off valves and you informed me that both shut off valves were still there. As I was talking to you on the phone, I stood on my tippy toes (I'm short) & replied yes, you are correct, I could see the 2nd shut off valve now as it was over my head, higher up on the back end of copper pipe, & apologized for my mistake. (attached photo, which Mark said "clearly" shows 2 shut off valves. Nope.) 4. As for your comment, "saved you a bundle of money" "at a great cost savings"? I paid $1,400 for a State Commercial Grade 40 gallon electric water heater & never questioned or had an issue with the price. 5. The installers asked me for old towels, which I provided, & had to throw away after they left because they're stained w/black grease (or oil?), emailed you a photo, & asked why Trio doesn't bring their own old towels to job sites? 6. They placed the new 40 gallon water heater butted flat up against the far side of the drip pan, 1 1/2" from the wall & turned the drip pan 1" to the right for some reason, away from the floor drain. The old larger 50 gallon water heater was centered in the drip pan. Therefore, the rigid plastic drainage tube that is connected to the drip pan & runs to the floor drain is now off by 1", meaning if the water heater drains, it won't drain down the floor drain & will drain on floor & I have a condo below my 2nd floor condo. In our phone call, you insisted it's fine. It's not. (attached photo, after installation) Since it was so difficult to speak with you on the phone due to your condescending attitude/interrupting, I said I didn't want to do business with you anymore, will pay someone else to correct the drain hoses back to their original position centered over the floor drain, & I clearly said good-bye. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Purchased a water heater from Lowe's which this company is contracted with to install in the area. Previously had a 40 gal manufactured in 2009 and they recommended replacing it with another 40 gal. We were consistently running out of hot water after the new install- several weeks and several service appointments later it was recommended by a second opinion that we needed a bigger size water heater for this size house, due to how they are newly manufactured. At no point during our install, conversations, or service appointments with Trio was it recommended that we had one that was too small, should size up, etc. I'll gladly pay for the new water heater but now they want labor fees associated with this cost. It was handled incredibly poorly by all parties (installer didn't clean up after himself, the manager was incredibly unflexible, etc.). Would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. read more

This company is an absolute nightmare! First of all they do not pull plumbing permits so if you by chance sell your home right afterwards if WILL FAIL your occupancy inspection because they never pulled the permit for the plumbing inspection when they install your water heater which is exactly was the case for a job they did thru LOWES for my 88 year old mother. They also failed to bring the install up to local St. Louis County code. Upon reaching out to them they claimed they were not responsible for installing a properly coded pipe on the flue on top of the hot water heater and that I should contact an HVAC company to do this work. After contacting the HVAC company that they referred me to I was told that any plumber worth a grain of salt should have been able to do this with the hot water heater install. The HVAC company didn't know that they had referred us until they suggested we go with a company that they have worked with in the past...Trio Plumbing... I had to call and deal with two of the rudest folks I've ever dealt with Laura and Mark...aka the owners of the company. After a very heated conversation where I had to repeatedly demand respect and professionalism from both of them then they agreed to send someone out to do the repairs that should have been done during the initial install and get the work properly permitted. It took them 2 trips over the next week to get everything done. The good news is that the work did finally pass inspection for both the plumbing permit and also the occupancy inspection. Another thing to be aware of is that they don't like to contact the county to do the follow on inspection but expect the customer to do it per their workers. After once again calling and having to go thru another frustratingly rude conversation with Mark he advised that the customer should contact their office and left them know that the work has been done...like wouldn't their tech know this work was completed and informed the office manager/receptionist to track this to make this call to the county....why would this EVER be the responsibility of your customer????? Proceed at your own risk but I could never recommend them to anyone and would have given less that a one star if I could. read more

He was prompt for our appointment. He was in and out in an hour. I cannot express enough our appreciation of his professionalism and knowledge. I have nothing but great things to say about Mark and his installers. I needed a new 75 gallon water heater. I did not go through a big box store like it appears many have. I bought the water heater and installation directly from Trio Plumbing. Their price was 30% less than my other quotes. The service was astonishingly quick and very professional. They got the proper permits, and had it installed and the old ones removed the day after I called. I was recommended to them by my in-laws and my aunt who all had great experiences with them. They are the only water heater installer for Lowe's and they know they can get away with not providing customer service. Trio was hired by Costco as a 3rd party service provider for a dishwasher install that I had purchased. I was the customer and had all of the interactions with them but Costco was the one paying the bill. 1. The 1st available appt they had was 3 weeks out. They would not give me a window of time - such as AM or PM - so I had to block out my whole day. It wasn't until the morning of the install that they called me to tell me a time. 2. I spoke with Trio 2 different times prior to the install and each time they went over the instructions for the day of... need to have supply lines on site, under the sink cleared out, etc. What they never said was that they were going to throw on a bogus fee at the last minute. It wasn't until the morning of when they called to give me my appt. window that they said: oh yeah and there's a $106 "license" fee. I said, "no, this is for a Costco install and they are paying you". I was met with a: no, this is in addition to what Costco pays us and we won't install unless we get paid. So I canceled them and they could care less. Here is where it gets interesting (all verified with Costco after the fact when I called to file a complaint against them): a. Trio gets paid by Costco even if I cancel the install. b. Trio is NOT supposed to be charging this additional fee to the Costco customer and Costco was not aware they were doing this. c. When a customer calls Costo to file a complaint (such as... the installer charged me an additional $106 fee that I wasn't aware of), Costco just reimburses the customer so the issue gets resolved for the customer and the install company (in this case Trio) does not get punished, in fact, they are rewarded. It's a flaw in Costco's system. The bottom line here is that Trio is majorly taking advantage of people. They get paid by Costco even if they don't do the install because the customer doesn't want to pay their bogus license fee. And, when the customer does pay their bogus fee, they get paid double. I can't speak to the quality of their work since they never came out to do the install but I can definitely bear witness to their unethical business practices. read more

Contacted Trio to about replacing ​my water heater. They came out were 45 mins early so we weren't ready. Paid them for the quote and never heard back from them. We had to get Lowe's involved. They fina​lly came after changing the time to 7 AM in the morning. They installed the hot water heater and new drip pan and the water heater leaks. It drips from the bolt where the hot water pipe is connected to the water heater. They left water 9n my hardwood floors, black handprints on my doors, sediment all over and in the new drip pan. Not happy with any 8f their services. I will try calling them again tomorrow. read more

I called with a problem because was getting misinformation from Costco and another plumbing company. Instead of trying to help sort out the issue, was told it was basically my problem. The lady that answered the phone was rude and didn't want to be bothered. Then she got upset with me when I was frustrated and passed me to Mark who was equally as rude, interrupting me while I was speaking and again not offering any help to work with Costco. Mark raised his voice with me and offered no assistance in resolving the issue. At least the prior plumbing company made a call to Costco to try to resolve and called me back. Not this company. Recently, one of our tenants at a rental property moved out and when the new tenants moved in, they reported several plumbing issues. Trio sent over a tech to service the dishwasher and a few other minor issues. The tenant reported that the dishwasher did not work. I heard multiple conversations between my wife and Trio office and the tech stating that the dishwasher is old, that she would like for Trio to assess the dishwasher, and to repair / replace if necessary. According to the new tenant, the tech discovered that the supply line to the dishwasher, which is located in the basement, was shut off. The tech then turned on the supply and started the dishwasher which appeared to be functioning normally at the time. According to the new tenant, the tech did not go back into the basement to see if the dishwasher had any leaks nor did the tech assess whether the dishwasher leaked upon draining as he reportedly did not cycle through to drain. I personally have done enough repair jobs to know that this could be a fairly common misstep, not cycling through to check for leaks. A few days later, the new tenant called and told us that the dishwasher was leaking severely. Water was pouring into the basement. The tenant noticed water in the basement previously but was not sure of the source as they had not been in the basement when the dishwasher was running. My wife called the tech to discuss this issue. She also called the Trio office to try to work out this issue that is supposed to be guaranteed for 1 year. Our contention is that the tech failed to properly assess the condition of the dishwasher. He solved the fill problem but did not identify a possible leak. The water being shut off should have raised a red flag that there was a potential issue. We as landlords were not aware that the supply to the dishwasher had been shut off by the previous tenant. My wife proposed that Trio go back over to the property, reassess the leak issue, and repair and/or replace the dishwasher but to waive the service call charge. That proposal seems fair in that Trio only addressed the fill issue but did not fully assess any possible leaks. Further, Trio would potentially make more money by replacing what is no question an old dishwasher with a new installation and make a loyal customer out a person who owns several properties. The lady in the office suggested that my wife call Nick to request that he go back over the fix his misstep. Nick refused stating that the problem with the dishwasher was that the supply line was shut off. My wife asked Nick why he thought the supply line was shut off. My wife told me that Nick states that he assumed that the property was "winterized". In June? The property was vacant for one week. My wife called Trio office to request to speak to a Supervisor. After 4 days and no call from a supervisor, my wife called again and spoke to Mark, who identified himself as the owner. Mark stated that his technician was correct in his action, that they were not going to go back to the job. He raised his voice, he was argumentative, he repeatedly talked over my wife when she tried to speak. Then, he called her back and continued to be argumentative, and hostile. She hung up on him. THEN, he called back again!! She did not answer. According to Google Reviews and Yelp reviews, Mr Mark has a history of this type of behavior. He is completely unprofessional and rude. We are going to buy a new dishwasher from Lowe's and we are going to tell them to use any other contractor besides Trio. If they cannot meet that requirement, then the deal is off. read more

Trio was contracted through Lowe's by way of Handy. Absolutely the rudest, unprofessional man, Eric, appeared. (He called at 2pm to say he'd be here at 3 and arrived at 4:08) Was to install new toilet and disposal. Turned off the water, asked me for an iphone charger, then less than 5 minutes later, interrupted my phone call to ask how much I paid for the installation, because I was going to have to pay more. The caller went on hold, while he explained that if he couldn't get a pipe off easily, he'd have to break the tile and there would be an extra charge. He then picks up his tools and says he's going to get a phone charger. I asked if he would return..."I don't know." As he approached the door to leave, I asked if he remembered he had another job to do, that is the disposal. "Yeah, I know." With that, he was out the door, WITH MY PAID MERCHANDISE IN HIS TRUCK, never to be seen or heard from again. I contacted Lowe's. They said it is strictly against policy for an installer to ask for more money. (Seems to be a habit with this company!) Trio had the nerve to ask if Eric could drop my merchandise by my house. My response: "NO. Absolutely not!" After all this, not even a call from the company to apologize or find out what happened. Really value customers! Lowes contracted with Trio Plumbing to install a water heater. To my surprise, no one came to my home, but instead, Mark called me and asked me for two measurements which I provided. Mark then gave me a package price right over the phone. When I asked for a breakdown of the costs, I was told that Lowes doesn't break down the cost, which seemed strange, but I scheduled the installation. When the installer arrived, he said Mark didn't ask all the right questions. You guessed it -- I was hit with an additional charge for the package installation! I am not a plumber, and I have no idea what questions I should have been asked (I think the expert here is Trio?) I won't be shopping at Lowes anymore or recommending Trio Plumbing! read more

After a house fire, my whole house's plumbing was done by Trio Plumbing. That was two years ago. Since then I have had the kitchen piping fall apart--literally. Trio repaired that at no charge since it was less than one year old, but they would have charged me for all the following: The shut-off valve downstairs had to be replaced, the main bathroom water shut-off had to be replaced, and the most recent thing was the water heater had to be replaced. That's ridiculously poor workmanship. Needless to say, I hired a competent company (NOT Trio Plumbing) to fix the last three things. Plus they often times don't obtain the permits they are supposed to get. Do yourself a favor and do NOT hire Trio Plumbing. read more

Trio is a subcontractor to Costco for appliance installations. Costco tells you the day that Trio is coming, but Trio sets their own date -- unclear whether that is Costco or Trio's fault. Trio charges a license fee which is not disclosed when buying from Costco -- again, unclear whether that is Costco or Trio's fault. What is definitely Trio's fault, however, is poor installation and very unfriendly customer service -- had to reinstall it myself when the appliance clearly wasn't working properly and customer service was clearly disinterested in coming out again to re-try installation. read more

We had a problem with our bathtub faucet and called several places. This was the company that would get to us the quickest. They came in the day we called and shut off the water to the bathtub and said they could not come out and do the work until the following Tuesday. We called them on Friday. They did come out on Tuesday and installed a new faucet. It definitely cost more than I expected, and they left my bathroom in a horrid mess, with dirt and shoe prints everywhere. My carpets had to be cleaned and my tub had to be scrubbed and bleached. Even the walls were dirty with The invoice they gave me had no details about the work they did, just a short,unreadable note that I think said, "capped water, fixed faucet". I had to ask what brand they were installing. The guy who came out was very nice, just very messy. read more

Can't tell you how happy I am with Mike and Mark at Trio Plumbing. Mark was extremely responsive when I first called to get a bid and offered several different options to attempt to fix my problem. I had some lateral sewer line issues and needed to determine whether or not to have a new line installed. Mike came out and gave me an excellent bid and was very honest about what he was going to be doing and what some of the unknowns of the job were. As I am typing this review, he has just finished the work (he replaced the entire lateral sewer line in less than one day) and Mark followed up with a call to ask how the work was and if I was satisfied. Their plumbers came in to fix my dishwasher. When they went to turn the water back on, they turned the wrong valve and flooded my basement. Now they are claiming that they are not responsible for the damages. The team that was at our house left without telling us, and Mark, the boss, continues to tell us that they are not responsible even though they were the ones who left water running and flooded the basement.
