Here's my story: I live in LA and there is a well-known wedding photographer who is also named Katherine Rose. Katherine Rose (LA) shot our very good friends' wedding two years ago and also came highly recommended by one of the partners of 100 layer cake that we're also very close with. I looked at Katherine (LA)'s portfolio via a link sent to me and my fiancé and I loved her work. We chatted about photographers over dinner one night and decided to go with Katherine Rose, so from my phone I googled her name and was directed to Katherine Rose (Escondido)'s website unbeknownst to me that there were two wedding photographers with the same name. I emailed Katherine Rose (Escondido) specifically mentioning all the people close to us that had recommended her and how excited we were to have her shoot our wedding. She did not acknowledge nor tell me that she didn't actually know any of the people who I said recommended her. Long story short, I signed a contract and paid a $1k deposit for the WRONG Katherine Rose. I discovered my mistake when we decided to push our date back a couple weeks. Of course, I'd already signed a contract and given a "non-refundable" deposit. Katie did give me back 60% of deposit, which of course per the contract she didn't have to, but it still left me feeling pretty disappointed. I felt misled. However.. I'm also very grateful that I discovered the error before the wedding and was able to book the Katherine Rose I intended to book.
