Up until about 3 1/2 months ago, I thought it was the best dojo in the world, because it really was great. Sensei Kaz was dedicated, kind, disciplined, fun but strict when needed. He was the best instuctor you could possibly ask for. About 3 1/2-4ish months ago, right before a tournament, the masters stripped him of his position at the dojo. They moved him away and stripped one of his belt ranks and replaced him with Master Clark's daughter. They did this with no explanation to the parents or the students and when asked they said that Sensei Kaz was doing "advanced training" at the Northgate dojo, but it has been over 3 months and he still is not back. I thought that would be the end of it, but it wasn't. At the tournament, I saw Sensei Kaz looking worse than I had ever seen him, sad, lonely, and missing a belt rank and his instructors uniform. For no reason whatsoever, he was stripped of his certification, his dojo, and a belt rank. To add insult to injury, Sensei Hannah, the woman who took over for Sensei Kaz, made multiple changes to the dojo, disrupting students routine. She canceled the demonstration team at the dojo, she canceled the instructor program where students get to shadow and learn the process of being an instructor, she combined the teens and adults classes on Saturday, and she completely changed the class structure. Not only that, but she also made multiple price increases. Needless to say, I am switching dojo's and would no longer recommend Z. It used to be a great dojo, but now it has turned into a money farm and a belt factory. They used to prioritize students, now they prioritize a quick buck and it all changed in a week, surely shows how much they care about the well-being of their students. If you value proper training, useable skills, and earning your belts, I do not recommend. If you want to pay an arm and a leg for basic training plus an extra fee for belt tests just so that you can be pumped through with everyone else to increase another persons profit, then go right ahead and sign up. So sad to say this because Z really was the best part of my life for so long, but none of the instructors at that dojo care anymore, the only of who gave a crap about the students was Sensei Kaz and he was removed for just that. If you do choose to sign a contract with Z, good luck. By the way, Sensei Hannah is not the problem, she is actually verry nice, a little annoying with the amount of times she calls about minute things, but nice. It's the way the dojo in general is treating people, including their long standing instructors.

The training itself pushed my limits, sharpened my awareness, and left me feeling stronger and more confident than ever. Bruce and the instructors didn't just demonstrate each technique--they took the time to break down every form, explain the purpose behind each movement, and show why each method truly matters. Overall, Annie and Bruce created an environment that felt both empowering and supportive, making the entire experience unforgettable. I'd give this a 10 star if I could! Highly recommend!

I take the adult classes and my kids are in the kids class. Moore's does a really good job keeping it fun while still holding everyone accountable. Since starting, I've seen a big increase in my kids confidence along with better discipline and focus at home and school. The adult classes are challenging but supportive, and you actually learn practical self-defense instead of just going through motions. I'd definitely recommend coming in and trying a class if you've been thinking about martial arts but weren't sure where to start!

DC Fighters is the best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school to train in Colorado Springs. I have trained in…read morefour other schools throughout my BJJ journey, and here are the top seven reasons I think DC Fighters is the best. 1. Professors Mike and Alec bring the most up-to-date BJJ technique to the curriculum. They never hold back instruction and will patiently guide students from the fundamentals through the most up-to-date techniques developed in the ever-evolving sport of BJJ. 2. Prof. Mike is a retired Soldier who understands what it's like to start and stop training due to deployments and PCS. He has a true knack for assessing a person within their journey. 3. Students learn both sport jiu-jitsu, judo, and self-defense. As a student, you have the freedom to develop and focus where your interests lie. I was interested in becoming a coach, and Mike developed a program just for me to make that happen. 4. For those who already practice and are considering DC Fighters, I think it's fair to say we all hate the ambiguity culture of BJJ and not knowing how we are doing and progressing. Not at DC Fighters, Mike and Alec will tell you exactly where they think you are and what you need to work on to get to the next level in your journey. 5. If you have kids, OMG, this is the place to go! Mike and Alec are fantastic with Kids. Classes are fun and well structured. As kids progress, they have opportunities to compete all the way up to world-level tournaments. Mike is a natural-born coach and leader with many championship kids under his wing. He also provides a safe environment for kids to learn about themselves and test themselves physically and mentally. 6. Training at DC Fighters will allow you to be affiliated with DC Fighters Infight Jiu-Jitsu directly out of Rio, Brazil. Mike is an International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) certified 1st degree Black Belt and the first American to earn a Black Belt from DC Fighters in Brazil. Training at DC Fighters provided me the legitimacy of certifying my belts with the IBJJF. 7. DC Fighters is a huge family. I think Mike has like ten of his own kids, and they all train there, lol! Seriously, Mike and his family are good, warm, and welcoming people. They do what they do for their family and the love of the sport. I encourage you to drop in and see for yourself. Regardless of whether you're brand new or have been training for years, I would love to see you on the mat!

They are great with kids but also the adult classes are amazing. My older son went to another gym and didn't last a year. He got lost in the very high numbers and coaches had a hard time remembering his 3 letter name. This isn't the case here. Coaches know my son and love him and are biting their nails when he competes , and are so proud when he does well. That love and caring that I see from coaches , and teammates is gonna keep my son here for good. Peak Krav Maga trains locals in Krav Maga - an Israeli martial art. From the moment I started training, I began learning defenses I could use should I find myself in a situation where I need to defend myself. I went for my first class (back in June of 2009) and it was free (everyones first class is free!). I went to one more and then I was ready to commit to learning this style. They offer very competitive pricing and packages for 1, 2, 3 people, familys and more! They do have classes for kids and adults, and most of the offered classes are available during convenient times. The best thing is that the instructors encourage everyone to take each class at their own pace and always hang out to address questions students have after class. After many months of going 4 days per week, I feel I am in much better shape than when I started (I didn't even make it through my very first class), I have tested to level 2 and am just about ready for level 3 testing, and I feel if I have to defend myself I would be able to do so in a smart and efficient manner. Oh, and I lost a good bit of weight! I highly recommend this if you are looking for a good way to get or stay fit, or if you are looking for a good self defense martial art. You can check out events and hours at their website - http://www.peakkravmaga.com

I was a chronic fitness quitter until I found Krav Maga, the teachers here do a great job of keeping classes fresh and challenging. If you decide to try it out the first class is free and it's sure to get your blood pumping no matter what your current fitness level - the instructors stress that each individual should work to their own fitness level (good advice if you're out of shape like I was). As for what's taught, Krav Maga isn't like your typical martial art... you will be hitting something in every class, there is a reasonable amount of physical contact (they go to great lengths to train safely, the only rule is 'don't get hurt'). There aren't really any forms or Kata, just a set of guiding principles and straight forward combatives. i could probably go on for pages about how much I love Krav Maga, come to this place and give it a try. Oh, and they have some kids classes too, haven't tried those.
