It was constantly shedding dead branches and lots and lots of walnuts on our property. They did a top-notch job with no damage to anything beneath which was no small accomplishment. They also cut back a huge amount of wisteria vines that were hanging over the fenceline from nextdoor. Another task was to cut back a huge laurel bush which was a big job in itself. And, don't forget trimming a bunch of low hanging branches below trees in the back of the property. These guys were wonderful - cheerful and hard-working. The project being a tree removal, as well planting within a foot away (due to sprinklers only being able to reach so far). With that being said I had set a time and date with them to do the job. I ordered the tree for delivery the day prior, but once the day came for the job it was a no show. Concerned, I contacted NW Tree Work to see what was going on. Turns out they are short staff. I'm pretty reasonable so I go ahead and try to reschedule. This time, I'm told the job is more complex so a new date is set. Once the new date rolls around, again, no show. At this point I'm constantly contacting NW Tree Work to the point they are reading my messages but not replying. I have to call every single time to get a hold of someone, to which I'm told I will get a reply later in the day, and to which I don't. It takes me contacting each day to try and reschedule only to be told a date the project will get done by and for someone to not show up. Big waste of time. On top of that, when speaking to John he assured me the prior weekend he'd get the job done and not only that move the tree out of public view and water it so it's okay. Sadly, none of that ever happened or came into fruition, the trees flowers started dying off due to it not being properly taken care of which it would have been had it been planted as planned. Ultimately this lead to a lot of back and forth. Whether its short-staffed or health related issues, telling a customer a date you're going to get the job done and continuously bailing is not the right response to do. The kicker was John calling me later that day to tell me how to give more trust and understanding to professionals and how delays happen and it's all normal. How about building that trust with customers first by not bailing on them multiple times over and over again, then we can have that conversation. Aside from all the negatives, I can give them credit for at least reimbursing me on the tree (though they only would if they ended up taking it). I'm not typically one to leave reviews, but I think it's important for anybody else on this platform to be informed with what potential risks you have working with certain companies. Emotions aside, this is just my personal experience with the company and for that I would not recommend them moving forward.

This all appeared good until I started digging into the pile. It was full of garbage. There were 3 inch thick branches, rhododendron clippings, holly clippings, multiple bundles of long twigs and huge mats of long dead pine needles included. It required considerable effort to separate the junk from the poor quality woodchips. I hope Foster Trees treats their direct customers better than this.

He also treated my yard for a peony blight that had begun effecting not only my peonies, but other plants as well. I was so happy that he knew about this blight and how to apply what I'd bought at Portland Nursery as a cure. I trust Paithen's recommendations and knowledge. He also cut down and pulled out a relatively small espallied apple tree which was a difficult job, but he stuck with it! I found once it took me several calls to get a call back and get put on his schedule. I sensed they were very busy. Perhaps Spiral Tree needs to develop a more effective procedure for taking messages and returning calls. Paithen is a pleasure to work with as his quiet, knowledgeable way invokes confidence and trust.

Terrible company, unresponsive to new customer inquiries for tree service. How simple would it be…read moreto say you're just too busy to return phone calls or respond to customers on your voicemail and website? Or say when you will actually be responsive? Completely unprofessional, and with this impression they are giving at the inquiry stage it calls into great question how they would treat you if you actually hired them to do work. Probably equally bad at communication. Even if they did bother to eventually return calls or emails there would be no way they would ever be hired. Buyer beware with this outfit - apparently spiraling out of control!
