My experience was mixed. I initially wanted a quote to remove a street tree that was damaging a public sidewalk. We discussed the possible issues regarding city tree removal permitting, site specific challenges etc. and received a quote of $2700 to remove the tree and grind the stump. I filled out and returned the permit application and waited for city approval. Approx. 6 weeks later I got a call from Evergreen and was told the city denied my permit for a few reasons but that they would allow a structural pruning and gave me a quote for two trees witch was almost as much as the one tree removal. I went ahead and approved the work and gave a deposit. Later I sent an email to the city arborist asking for clarity on why the permit was denied and was told their office had no record of the denial yet. I was a bit annoyed that Evergreen made it sound like the denial was a done deal and scheduled the pruning before any official denial was recorded or given to me directly by the city. I would have waited until it was officially denied in writing before proceeding. If there was any chance that the permit had been approved I likely would have had to eat the pruning cost for the one tree AND paid the removal cost later. read more

I left a review earlier with 4 stars but can't seem to edit it. I just received a response from the City of Portland re: my permit to remove a street tree that Evergreen told me was denied. They basically lied to me and talked me into a structural prune instead. The city did NOT deny my permit at that time but instead requested additional info from Evergreen which was never received . As of now the permit has expired. My guess is Evergreen did not want to take the time to satisfy the city request at the bid price and just wanted to move on. The whole purpose of wanting the tree removed was to facilitate a sidewalk repair so I have spent $2100 on pruning 2 trees and still have a busted sidewalk to deal with somehow. Thanks. read more

After disqualifying a different service's previous bid, we ultimately chose Evergreen for our large Ponderosa Pine tree removal in Tigard. Diane (their arborist) made a follow up visit from their initial quote and confirmed the quoted pricing and the need for a crane to be used as the tree was leaning so far toward our neighbor's home it was almost touching. The crane operator also made an in-person visit to confirm which pieces of equipment would be needed. Note: Evergreen owns their own equipment and has it on hand in their Sherwood yard. See pics attached of their yard and worksite. After flying up from CA, visiting the Evergreen Sherwood yard and speaking with Myra, I signed the contract, put down the deposit and scheduled the job 2 weeks out (coordinated with my neighbor). The job was completed in a day, and a part of the next morning, ahead of the scheduled estimate of 2 full days. Both my neighbor and I were very happy with the professional approach of Myra and Diane and how well they communicated by both phone calls, texts and emails. Diane even kept me up to speed (she was onsight) by texting me with updates on the job progress and sending me pics along the way. The clean-up was top notch and no damage occurred during the removal. I will be sure to use Evergreen for all my future tree and landscaping needs. read more

We had three very large silver maple trees that were growing at a precarious angle over our sunroom. Plus we had a deodora cedar tree that was growing too large for its space. In order to access these trees they had to maneuver this large machine called The Spyder that has the ability to expand to 170' or more. And they had to do this across our grass field without destroying the grass. They laid down large plastic sheets to protect This was a precarious task that included grinding the stumps down. Evergreen accomplished all of this to perfection in only 2 days and at a very competitive price. read more

I had 2 large street trees removed and 2 trees installed authorized by the Homeowner's Association and city permit. Evergreen handled the entire permit process, was right on top of it to schedule and did a terrific job. The removal team was right on time and took both trees down in 2 hours and cleaned up. The installation of the new trees was a few days later and their employee Pedro worked hard all day and cleaned up the area, including the city street. I like to leave a review, at first the General Manager show concern about repairing my backyard. The crew showed up most of the time spent sitting inside of the truck waiting on a call to pick up supplies. My backyard project turned out to be a joke. The quoted me a good price, however, the performance on my yard did not turn out like to photos presented when I sign the contract. They left equipment in my yard where my two German Shepherd got into and hurt his mouth. The did not renovate the extra patio as presented in the photo. Then General Manager said he pride himself in the work they do and came back out to supposedly finish the project left it exactly like it was nothing change. I paid for river rocks they did not purchase enough to complete the project so all the yard tarp showing in my yard. You can see it when you walk into the dog run. they did not put enough wood chips inside of the dog run, you can see the yard tarp in there too. Now I have pay someone else to complete this project. read more

I used Yelp to request three quotes for trimming back a very large overgrown ornamental pear tree in my son's front yard. Larry from Evergreen came out and had a great vision on how to save the tree and cut it back. Though his bid was a little higher than the lowest bidder, I went with him. I'm glad I did as his crew (two large trucks with a bucket lift and a chipper) came out and did a fantastic job in a short amount of time. Very professional team that left no mess. I use this service every time I need some work in my yard and my rental. Every time they come; they do wonderful work. I needed a maple thinned out and balanced because the trunk is leaning quite a bit. My rental needed the arbitrative, which was getting tall again, trimmed down 3 feet and 2 maples, in front, trimmed because they were growing over the roof. I have been using several different tree service companies throughout the years but never stuck to one because I was dissatisfied with the quality of the finished products. For my current project I got 3 different bids and Evergreen was a clear choice after I met Diane. She not only assessed the trees I needed pruning, but went the extra mile by looking at all the trees on my property and providing her professional opinion on them. I found out there were weeping cedars that were planted too close to my house that were overgrown and the inappropriate species for that location. I was sad about losing such beautiful trees and had grown attached to it (20 years!) but decided to trust her judgment and boy, am I glad I did! Not only did the crew do a great job, but the house looks 100 times better and 'newer!' I had two very tall birch trees (not sure how tall exactly, but over 60 feet). At that height, ladders won't do the job. They had to send up a man to climb up to the tallest part of the trees with a handsaw. (See photo.) The whole team worked fast and very efficiently. I was very impressed. read more
