I needed a large tree removed from my property that is leaning into a neighbors' yard. Contacted several companies for quotes and decided to meet with Adrian from Greenroad and our neighbor on Wednesday, July 16 at 9am in Tigard, OR. Keep in mind, Adrian was aware I was coming in for the signing of paperwork from California based on the quote and that he verified the work would be accomplished via a crane for $9000 . We met Adrian on time at the property and he was pleasant, though he lacked details on removal. We walked the job site and he again verified the use of a crane, just needed his 'crane guy' to decide if it would be the little crane or big crane. Wednesday passed, Thursday passed and I called Adrian Friday at 6pm asking what he had determined. Adrian explained he was going to call me Monday to let me know that his 'crane guy' said he couldn't do the job with a crane and they would be doing it by hand. I explained we agreed a crane was needed and said we would not be using his services. I was tempted to chew him out as I could have met with other services Wednesday, Thursday or Friday before flying back to CA Saturday morning. Very unprofessional and frustrating. If there were negative stars Greenwood would have received my first negative star review. UPDATE to Adrian's response: Adrian, my review is 100% accurate and, yes, my neighbor can verify but I will use your own words to confirm what you said. There was never an option to do the removal with anything but a crane. Before you came out, I verified your bid was for using a crane telling you I had other bids and wanted to make sure I was comparing apples to apples. You verified it was including a crane. On Wednesday, you verified several times it needed to be a crane and the question was which crane, if it would be a small crane or a large crane. We discussed how you would bring a crane in and where the protective mats would be placed, that we had to sign a waiver in case the driveway was damaged, that it would take 1-2 days etc. You said you needed to confirm which crane and when it would be available, not the method of removal. The price was still $9000 for one large tree. To say you were professional to take my call Friday during your dinner is absurd. We met at 9am Wednesday and, if you had contacted me earlier (Wednesday, Thursday or Friday) I would not have had to call you. You knew when I called you Friday that you would not have a crane available and yet you said you were waiting until Monday to contact me. So, Wednesday to Monday to tell me you wouldn't have a crane? That is unprofessional and disrespectful. There was never a misunderstanding. You are not being upfront and accurate about this job. You said you would reach out to me as soon as your 'crane guy' could come to the property to see which crane was needed. If the job was too much to handle, you should have just said so (not misrepresenting what was discussed and agreed upon by all three people involved) and I could have spent the three days that you left me waiting to locate another service for this level of work. Crew did a nice job on the tree trimming. Quote was reasonable (but not the best one I received) and was supposed to include clean up and removal of all debris. The truck was too full to take everything so the workers state they don't have room on the truck so would we want to keep the extra wood chips. My husband did not ask for the left over wood chips but rather was offered since truck was too full. When I point out that the work order says it included removal of all debris I am told well we asked for the wood chips. That is not the case and I find the attitude of the personnel to be less than desired. Be mindful of you use this service and be clear on your expectations or you may be stuck with clean up you didn't really want or need. read more

We don't have the easiest trees or lot - so I give 5 stars on their quality of work. Trimmed widow makers from 2 tall Douglas firs and asked for me to inspect for anything else. I got two other bids for my tree removal. One was more than twice as high, and the other almost exactly the same price as Greenroad. I chose Greenroad because I thought working with Adrian was more straight-forward than the other company's estimator. Greenroad's crew removed a large old cherry that had plenty of deadwood hanging over the neighbor's yard. The working space was very tight: a fence within 10' on two sides of the tree, a nice ornamental Japanese maple 20' away on the third (never touched), and a glass sliding door 9' from the trunk on the last side. Adrian was efficient and friendly in dealing with a couple topics that came up in advance, and he got the City of Portland permit very quickly with minimal effort from me. The crew was easy to interact with, seemed very safe, and did an excellent job in piecing down a tricky tree with no damage to any of the targets below. I am delighted to recommend them. read more
