Overall, I've been pleased with the installation and the system itself. My concern is with the follow-up service. Part of the critter guard came loose and fell off, and it has now been almost three months since I first contacted Oak. During that time, I've corresponded with three different people at the company as well as their phone service. I initially asked whether the repair was covered under warranty. I also asked that, if it was not, they simply provide a parts list or tell me what I would need to buy so I could address it myself. I still have not received that information. I was subsequently told that Oak would take care of the repair, but almost three months later the critter guard is still sitting on the sidewalk. This seems like a relatively minor issue, and I've tried to be flexible about the solution. I would be satisfied either with Oak reattaching it as promised or with enough information to understand what is needed to fix it properly. I chose Oak in part because of its participation in Ann Arbor's organized solar group-buy program, and I otherwise like the solar installation. I'm posting this review because the normal service channels have not resolved what should be a straightforward service request. I hope someone at Oak sees this and gets it taken care of. I'll be happy to update the review when it is resolved.

Speaking with the receptionist she said they might come out after 2 o'clock....( MIGHT )....I wasted my entire morning and rearrange my schedule to accommodate their service and I receive no call that they were delayed. Nathan came back, went through wiring in attic, basement, found additional box in kitchen cupboard, stuck with it until he found two areas of burned melted wires! Working conditions were terrible. Wet basement, 120 degrees in attic that day! We are up and running in the whole house. Nathan is honest, reliable, knowledgeable, reasonably priced and I will call him for any future issues! They even swept up after themselves when they were done. I mentioned to Shawn about not leaving the doors open to keep the cat from running out and he incorporated my concerns into his kick off huddle with his team before they started. It's worth noting that I previously had a Lowes contractor give me a price for a generator install. Not only did the local Lowes contractor tell some fibs about what was required because of the Michigan Building Code (which I rebutted because I know the code and I offered a copy for him to show me the section right on the spot ) I was offered a lesser quality Generac generator (even after I told him I wanted Kohler) and a small limited circuit manual transfer switch. Nevertheless I sent him on his way and called Shawn. I have never looked back. Not only was Shawn's price reasonable he was lower than the other contractor and I got what I wanted to which was a Koehler generator and whole house automatic transfer switch so I didn't have to pick and choose what I wanted on the panel I am a contractor so I know the system.
