Came here after many recommendations from friends and my Instagram feed--and it absolutely lived up…read moreto the hype. The vibe is warm and lively, the service was great, and the food was delicious . The Paneer, House Black Daal, roti and parathas, crispy okra, chai and lassi were all delicious. Definitely worth the wait, and I'd happily come back when in London!!

I'm probably going to get some hate for this but I only thought our meal was ok…read more Which bummed me out because I've been dying to try this place for years! We started with some yummy cocktails and the okra fries which were delicious - if only okra always tasted this good. For mains, we shared the chicken tikka, black daal, paneer and garlic naan. Pretty standard Indian order. The chicken tikka was just too spicy and we weren't used to that so it went mainly eaten. My favorite was the black daal but again, it wasn't so amazing that I would go and have it again. Honestly the best dish we had was dessert - the basmati kheer is a perfect rice pudding with crème brûlée like topping. So good. Service was spotty, I constantly found myself trying to find our server or make eye contact with him. They were slammed on a Tuesday night (which I'm sure is the case every night) so that's probably just the way things are but it could've been better. Disappointed but willing to try again, also made me want to try some other Indian spots in London next.

The Halal Guys - Love the White Sauce

I'm a big fan of Halal Guys and was stoked to hear London was getting one. Excited to not have to…read morewait for the trips to New York to satisfy the street meat craving! Unfortunately like some other restaurants that made their way to London from abroad, this was also cursed of not being the same in a bad way. What a shame! I usually get the mixed platter and stuck to that. The salad was crisp and nicely chopped, liked it better than the NY version. The lamb was far off, seemed to be lacking in spice. The chicken was closer, but was again not as good. Service was good - the staff were very great and energetic. One of the members of staff was even walking around to give top ups on red + white sauces. Kudos to that! With the disappointing taste, unless I'm not heading to NYC for some time, I shall wait to fill the street meat fix in NYC.

I decided to give halal guys a try after hearing so much hype about this place…read more I opted for the combo platter, which is dry, tasteless, unappealing pieces of discoloured chicken. Dried out, disgusting pieces of unseasoned beef. Poor quality white rice that was turned orange by whatever they use to turn it that colour. A massive portion of lettuce - the only decent thing on the platter, a tiny scattering of something that resembled tomatoes and four pieces of stale pitta bread. Their "World famous" white sauce is offensively bland. As someone who loves hot spicy food, I also tried their hot sauce. Another one of their "World famous" offerings. Hot sauce is not that hot and has no hint of any flavour. When I went to the till to pay for this c r a p, I was presented with a grotesquely ugly, fat, orange haired, insecure, weak, incompetent manager with a vomit inducing narcissistic personality disorder. Due to his inability to communicate effectively in English, I was unable to understand the gibberish nonsense pouring from his revolting gob. A member of staff intervened and communicated effectively on his behalf, which going by his body language left him feeling deeply humiliated. After all the unnecessary confusion, instead of him conducting himself in a professional manner he rudely chucked my change on the counter. I am absolutely disgusted that an employee especially a manager could behave in such an appalling way especially when this shop has recently opened. Halal guys is desperately trying hard to be different but failing on every level. The three old greedy owners and those on a management level are crazy to think the halal guys is not a kebab shop when in fact it is nothing but a glorified kebab shop. This shambolic, pompous kebab shop is over-hyped beyond words and overpriced. The halal guys have zilch to offer in quality, taste, experience and value.
