    Doctor holding baby
    Delsy S.

I am so grateful to have had Dr. Bickman as my OB-GYN. From start to finish, my experience was excellent. Her staff is super sweet, lovely, and incredibly helpful, and the office is in a beautiful Santa Monica location which makes every visit feel calm and easy. Medically, I felt extremely well taken care of, but what stands out most is how Dr. Bickman handled a medical emergency during my birth. She was calm, decisive, and completely in charge of the situation at St. John's. I never doubted that she could handle the complexities of my case. Some reviews mention additional fees. That is true because she runs a private practice and there is a modest extra cost. But here is why it matters: those fees guarantee that Dr. Bickman herself will be at your delivery, not an on call rotating doctor like in big hospital groups. For me, that peace of mind was worth every penny. It is also worth noting that her C-section rate is lower than both the state and national averages, a reflection of her expertise and commitment to evidence based care. Dr. Bickman has a serious, no nonsense disposition. Some people may not find her super chatty at first, but she is caring and goes above and beyond to ensure the safety of both mom and baby. She is always on call which shows her deep dedication. If you want an OB-GYN who is highly skilled, steady under pressure, and truly there for you when it counts, I cannot recommend Dr. Bickman enough.

    Ridiculous $800 admin fee

I wish I had read the reviews before coming to my first appointment with her. 1. My appointment was scheduled for 10AM and I arrived early at 930AM. However when I was called back to the patient room - around 10AM- I noticed I was waiting for almost 30minutes before I saw her. 2. I told her my reason for coming to her clinic and the next thing she asked was "what would you want me to do?" I'm a physician myself so I was shocked. You're an OBGYN! You should be telling me what your plan is for me. Not asking me what do I want to do. I had to tell her from my previous experience A,B, and C happened soooo what are you going to do? As a black woman and knowing how black women are treated in the medical field, this lackadaisical attitude is extremely disturbing. 3. What clinched it for me was the $800 administrative fee. WHAT THE HELL? The way the secretary quietly slipped the folded up piece of paper was ridiculous. I just had my appointment yesterday and yet I'm seeing recent posts where her "fee" is $600. So she basically is just making up a number to charge people. All a ghetto hot stinking mess.

Dusty & unclean practitioner foot pedals for patient bed. This is highly unacceptable! If you are cleaning the floors these should look new!

I was 36, single, and not even sure if I wanted kids, but I wanted the option to have them if Mr Right ever showed up. She was so compassionate, funny, down to earth and kind that I continued to see her for regular exams. Her all-female staff and spa-like exam rooms turn what is usually an uncomfortable doctor visit into a welcoming, supportive environment. At 38, I casually mentioned a dull, numb pain in my right breast. Even though I was two years away from the recommended age of mammograms and had no family history of breast cancer, Dr D sent me to get a mammogram. Two months after my wedding (Mr Right DID show up!), I was diagnosed with HER2+ Stage 2 breast cancer. Dr D not only called me lot tell me herself, but she told me that she'd already called the top breast cancer surgeon at UCLA and gotten me an appointment for the next day - on the surgeon's day off. Additionally, she'd already told the surgeon that she wanted to do an additional egg retrieval/embryo preservation before I started treatment. I got the news that I had cancer on Tuesday and I started my retrieval meds that Friday. Dr D also reached out on my behalf to non-profits that aid breast cancer patients with the high cost of fertility treatments since my insurance wouldn't cover any of it. For years, Dr D walked alongside me, supporting my women's health needs as well as my spirits. She continued to guide our fertility journey and made recommendations for acupuncturists and non-traditional methods. Of course, she used the most recent data from the scientific fertility world as well. When the time came to face the reality that my body just had been through too much and that we could only have a baby via surrogate, she was caring, nurturing and honest. She guided us through the complicated process during the even more complicated time of covid. I'm thrilled to share that, at 45, I am cancer-free, healthy and the mother of a perfect baby boy, made from one of those eggs we froze back in 2014. Dr D made a speech at our baby shower that still gets people emotional when we talk about it. We are now starting our sibling journey with the same surrogate and with Dr D's guidance and friendship. We know that we would not have our family without Dr D. It didn't happen in the way we planned or hoped that it would, but it happened in a way that will give our children one hell of an origin story! I also know that I would not be alive today if she hadn't encouraged me to get the mammogram I thought I didn't need. She truly is the most caring, most thorough doctor I've ever had and I feel so fortunate to have her in my life.

We came to Kind Body after switching insurance companies from Kaiser to Cigna OAP, if you are struggling with infertility I highly recommend it. We were on a 8 year journey of infertility and it was trying, we came to kind body tired. We had been diagnosed with unexplained infertility and my wife had blocked tubes. We tried many treatments with Kaiser and about $6k in holistic treatment. Our Dr, Lauren Sundheimer, was incredible. The nurses there are also amazing. We had a virtual meeting first to go over what to expect. We went to our first appointment in Santa Monica. The staff there are also friendly. Dr Lauren is so personable. She makes you feel welcomed, she cares. After much conversation and prayer we landed on starting with IUI. We did our first cycle and it didn't take. So we waited a little. We went in for our second cycle and we were advised that we shouldn't proceed because the follicle growth wasn't where it needed to be, as crushing as it was great to have the support of Dr Lauren and her staff. On our third cycle everything was looking great and we went ahead with the trigger shot. We were so nervous. About two weeks after our insemination we went in for a blood pregnancy test. A few hours later we got a call from Dr.Lauren, WE ARE PREGNANT! After almost 8 years and many tests and procedures we finally heard the news we were waiting for. I am 100% convinced that it was Divine Providence that brought us to Dr Lauren and her care and the support staff we are now due to have a baby in July! We plan on inviting her to our gender reveal and baby shower, that's how much she means to our family.

I chose Kindbody after consulting with several fertility clinics. Their technology and patient…read moreportal appeared modern and efficient, and I assumed most clinics ultimately follow similar protocols. Unfortunately, my experience showed that the quality of care can vary significantly. Throughout the process I had extremely limited interaction with the physician overseeing my care, Kristin Bendikson. In total, I spoke with her only about twice during the entire IVF cycle. Nearly all communication occurred through physician assistants who acted as intermediaries. While they were friendly, they often needed to relay questions to the doctor and respond later. For a treatment costing roughly $30,000, I expected significantly more direct physician involvement. My egg retrieval took place in January 2025 during the Santa Monica fires, when the Kindbody office where I had been receiving treatment had to temporarily close. Because of this, I was instructed to travel to Newport Beach for the retrieval procedure. Despite the fact that Dr. Bendikson had been overseeing my cycle and monitoring my follicles leading up to retrieval, she did not perform the procedure. Instead, the clinic assigned a different physician whom I had never met before and whom I encountered for the first time immediately prior to surgery. Given how critical egg retrieval is within the IVF process, the lack of continuity of care at such an important stage was concerning. Prior to retrieval, my monitoring scans showed more than 14 follicles measuring greater than 14 mm in size. Follicles of this size are typically expected to yield eggs during retrieval. However, only 7 eggs were ultimately retrieved. When I asked why the remaining follicles were not retrieved, I was verbally told that my bowel was obstructing the view. However, the procedural note in my medical record states that the retrieval was "difficult due to abdominal breathing." The differing explanations have left me with unresolved questions about what actually occurred during the procedure. Even accounting for normal biological variation, retrieving eggs from only about half of the follicles documented during monitoring represents a significant discrepancy. The procedure itself appeared to conclude very quickly, leaving many follicles uncollected and significantly reducing the number of eggs available for fertilization. During egg retrieval, each follicle is typically aspirated individually, and based on the number of follicles documented prior to the procedure, I expected more comprehensive attempts to retrieve eggs from the available follicles. From the 7 eggs retrieved, only 2 embryos were created. One was abnormal, and the single normal embryo ultimately failed to implant. Equally concerning was the lack of follow-up care. After receiving the call informing me the transfer was unsuccessful, there was no outreach from the physician to review the cycle, discuss what may have happened, or talk through next steps. About a month later I experienced unusual symptoms and contacted the clinic requesting to see the doctor. After multiple follow-ups, I was ultimately told to see my primary care provider because it was "no longer their responsibility." Since my treatment, I have learned that Dr. Bendikson is no longer practicing at Kindbody and is now affiliated with Pinnacle Fertility. As a result, there is effectively no opportunity for continuity of care or a proper review of what occurred during my cycle with the physician who originally oversaw it. IVF is an emotionally and financially significant medical process. Patients deserve meaningful physician involvement, continuity of care, and proper follow-up. Unfortunately, my experience at Kindbody left me feeling like a number in a system rather than a patient receiving individualized medical care.

I let my coordinator know that it was not the type of place I'd like to stay for multiple nights on bed rest and I got a different hotel for the next night. 20 minutes before my transfer appointment I received a call from the clinic (Sarah) telling me the transfer is canceled because I didn't get enough rest. I was so shocked and upset. I went to the clinic anyway and asked to talk to the Dr face to face (John Jain). His only reason he could give me for canceling the transfer was that he said I didn't get good rest. I told him I was fine and asked if he would take my vitals if he felt I was unfit medically.. he refused. I also asked for something in writing explaining why I was being turned away and he also refused. This was the most egotistical person I've ever met. He took such offense to me not liking the accommodations that he canceled it all.... I can't even imagine how the intended parents felt! I was so heartbroken and distraught. I cried for days. I had been building up to this point for at least 7 months just to be shut down at the transfer. And he expected me to do all the injections and hormones all over again!!! Absolute insanity. Luckily I was able to get out of my surrogacy contract, no one expected me to trust him with my body after that experience.

She also understood my situation with the time difference and kindly adjusted her schedule to accommodate my needs by moving our consultation to an earlier time. During the treatment process, I was quite concerned about my low egg count, but Dr. Armstrong took the time to carefully explain my condition and the purpose of each medication, which helped reassure me. She also adjusted my medication dosage based on how my body responded. In the end, thanks to her attentive care, the result exceeded my expectation.

While all of the care providers at Kindbody SM are wonderful, from our first call, I immediately felt at ease with her positive, friendly, and warm demeanor. She answered every question I had and made me feel heard and understood. When I experienced some challenges along the way, she acted immediately to mitigate any issues that might derail the entire process I had just gone through. Naturally, I was stressed and overwhelmed, but after speaking with me on the phone, walking me through what was happening, and assuring me that I was still in a good place to move forward with retrieval, I felt calmer. She continued to call and message me to check in and provided positive thoughts and affirmations. Once my retrieval was complete, she was thrilled to see my positive outcome and shared in my excitement! I honestly could not have asked for a better doctor throughout what is an overwhelming and delicate process.
