It is currently 3am and I am holding my 5 day old baby on my chest post feeding. As I sit here I am reflecting on the journey to get to this point and I couldn't have made it without Tamara. I started trying for a baby at 39 and while I could get pregnant, I would miscarry due to chromosomal abnormality (really my eggs weren't great). At 41 I started my first two rounds of IVF. Both were unsuccessful in producing a viable embryo and for some reason my left ovary would not respond to the meds. So I took a break and made some changes. My doctor recommend Tamara after I researched the benefits of acupuncture on egg quality. While the next round of IVF was not successful, I do wish I had waited longer to do round 3. Changes take time. The supplements I added and the acupuncture needed time to make a difference. So after round 3 I took that time. I continued with Tamara 2x/week. Months later I was not only ready for my last attempt at my own eggs, I felt better. I was fully off anxiety medication (which I had been on since I was 18) and my hormones felt more under control. Round 4, at 42 years old, I produced a viable embryo and it came from the left side that previously didn't work. Two months later Tamara came with me to do acupuncture before and after my transfer. It was successful. I continued through with acupuncture 1-2x/week for my first trimester for nausea and it helped so much. Tamara recommended not to come in during my second trimester because I would feel good and to return once the 3rd trimester aches and pains kicked in. Which they did and she helped tremendously.. Long story short, I truly believe I would not be snuggling my miracle baby without the help of Tamara. She is an expert at what she does, she's warm and friendly and every visit is a 10/10 experience. Tamara ZumMallen is simply the best at what she does. I have had her treat me for several things, including: "pre-hab" for my ACL surgery, to get my knee ready for not only the surgery, but all the PT work to follow for 9 months after the surgery. Tamara also treated my knee about three months after ACL surgery to compliment the physical therapy. I have also had Tamara work on my back when I had a herniated disc, which made my ACL injury seem like a walk in the park. She was so compassionate and a wealth of information on back injuries. I was referred to Tamara by my fertility health team at UCLA. Her office is so inviting, warm, and calming (and smells great!). She helped through my IVF cycle, through the egg retrieval process and FET. We were lucky and ended up with 7 healthy embryos! Adding that because I truly believe the acupuncture played a big part in how my body responded. It was so helpful to have Tamara there at the FET for the acupuncture and as an added voice of experience in the process on top of my clinical team. The FET was at a clinic separate from my regular clinic, so it was even nicer to have her familiar face (above the mask :) and calming energy that day when my body was so stressed and my partner couldn't be there due to covid restrictions. Long story short, the FET was successful and we now have a perfect beautiful healthy baby boy! I didn't miss the IVF process but I did genuinely miss my acupuncture appointments. NO PROFESSIONAL COURTESY I contacted Tamara ZumMallen because she had high ratings on yelp and is located a walking distance from where I work. After the initial talk, I called her back and made an appointment for the following Friday. This was already time consuming because she does not have an assistant and never answers he phone. Then on Wednesday, two days before my appointment time, she called me and left a message that she has to cancel my appointment because she has to go to a transfer and for me to come back the week after on Friday. I called her and left her message saying that I would like to see her sooner. She never called back. So the day after, I called her and asked her if she could see me a little earlier like that Thursday. I asked her if she could call me to try to work something out. I also said in the message that I am doing a transfer on November and I really would like to start. As of Monday evening, 6th days after she left her message to cancel my appointment, she has not called yet. The process of fertility is already very difficult without people who are so inconsiderate to even make a phone call timely. Even if she did not want me as a client, she could have a courtesy to just call and let me know instead of waisting my time. read more
