Wow where do I start? I met Chris back in 2009 ish, it could be earlier. One day I was at the…read moreRichmond auto mall having my car serviced and noticed a guy working on a dent in a lot near by. I asked if he can work on my car. He's done my Honda Civic Sir and Accord v6 coupe. Since then I've owned a few more cars and I've been lucky I haven't received any dings. Until now. Fast forward to 2025. I own a 2019 black Rav4 Trail now. All my previous cars were black as well. If anyone is an owner of a black car, they know very well that you can see a lot of imperfections easily and your contact washes have to be very delicate. I am the kinda ocd car guy growing up. Yes, that kinda guy who would wash his car in the rain if a bird landed multiple bombs on the paint. I've kept Chris's number and this man has been consistently busy. He booked me a week in advance after I sent him the photos of the damage. Some international student on an electric scooter was riding careless and nicked/dent my parked car ‍. Chris is a real friendly guy. He's straight up and honest. His quotes are very reasonable. Obviously the prices are not like before. It's been almost 20 years. But what I can say is I rather support a local business than a corporate entity at this point. I didn't want a record of claim on the vehicle. The option of dent repair makes more sense. I basically dropped off my car by 11am and got a call back by 1:50pm. There's no way you can get your car back on the same day with icbc. On the same day before date night, on a Friday afternoon. I was extremely surprised Chris raised the bar and fixed the paint as well. I wasn't expecting the paint to be fixed. The results looked like the damage never happened. I was so impressed with his standards being so high. Amazing craftsmanship. If you can relate with growing up in poverty , you learn about how to take care of things that you own in life. Maintain your property, vehicles, watches, sneakers, suits, anything you appreciate. It's gut wrenching when you're always so careful then all of a sudden you get dinged and it's by others. Very mentally frustrating. When I picked up my car I was so happy. Now keep in mind I haven't washed my car in 2 weeks because of all the rain storms we received. That damaged area looked practically brand new. Chris made it happen. But it wasn't over. If I wanted to really see his craft I needed to do a contact wash. I took the car home. Did a wash. As expected Chris's work is legit as usual. I took pics and videos on different positions for you to view. It's clean work. All I had to do was apply a Si-o2 protection spray for now to match the hydrophobic beading with the ceramic coated car. I was due for an overhaul ceramic renewal this coming summer anyhow. Chris. Long story short, someone keyed my car and damaged my door lock a couple of years ago. I made the claim right away but then procrastinated on following through with the repairs (for which there is a 2-year time limit if you want it covered by your insurance). I figured I'd have all the time in the world to get it done but then suffered a health condition that took me out for the months leading up to my 2-year deadline. So there's me, trying to find an auto body shop that would take my car in for repair on less than a week's notice. I initially didn't realize how ridiculous of a request that was until I spoke to my insurance provider and then called a large number of other auto body shops. Turns out they all have a 6-week waiting list right now. I literally got laughed at when I called some auto body shops to ask if they could take me right away. But Boyd Autobody Richmond was sympathetic to my situation and agreed to take my car right away, despite how busy they are. I was already on cloud 9 and so incredibly grateful when I went in to pick up my car. But little did I know, they still had one surprise left for me. After paying my deductible and getting my keys, I walked out to my car to examine their work. It was perfect. I then jumped in my car, prepared to drive off, when I looked around and saw that my car was immaculately clean. I was shocked. To put this into perspective, my car has not been that clean in years. I have two huskies, both of which shed like you wouldn't believe and love to run through mud, as well as the sand at the beach after getting wet. And then they get in my car. I literally gave up on trying to keep my car clean years ago. And I'm pretty sure there was close to an inch of husky hair than had accumulated on the floor of my back seats, which I tended to ignore because I have a little 2-door BMW so it was hard to get to that area and I never really had to see it anyway. So let's just say, I was convinced my car would never be clean again unless I paid at least $500 for a professional to detail it. I in no way expected Boyd Autobody to clean the inside of my car like that...and BMW certainly doesn't do it whenever I've taken my car in for servicing (not that I can blame them, lol). But Boyd Autobody Richmond went above and beyond on that front. I don't even want to know how many hours it took the poor guy assigned that task to complete it. I was so impressed and grateful that I ran back inside and asked if I could give the guy who cleaned my car a tip. But they, with a smile, said no, it's all good, and they would pass along my thanks. I am never taking my car to another auto body shop again.

First they called me to tell me that the car is ready for pickup. When I arrive by taxi (i don't have a car), they told me I have to come again because they do not have a part. I spoke to the GM on my second visit and his answer is that they have to wait for parts. I sense that he does not want to take an extra risk to have the car parked on the lot for an extra day. I tell myself which business has no risk? Therefore, if they call that the car is ready for pick up, ask if it is 100% ready and you do not need to take a second trip back for parts.

The customer service has been extremely disappointing. The estimators have been careless, and I found the estimating process to be very poor. I had a misalignment issue with my hood, which I explained multiple times to the estimators and the manager. Today was my fourth visit, and despite repeatedly explaining the issue, the problem still has not been properly resolved. It is extremely frustrating to have to return four times for the same issue and still not receive the quality of work I expected. The lack of communication, attention to detail, and professionalism has been very disappointing. Customers should not have to repeatedly explain the same issue to different people, especially after bringing it to the manager's attention. Overall, I am extremely unhappy with my experience at OpenRoad Richmond AutoBody. After four visits and still having the same issue, I cannot recommend this body shop. If you value quality workmanship, attention to detail, and good customer service, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

Through a friend I brought my dad's car in for vandalism damage to the whole driver's side of the vehicle which resulted in an excess of $4,000 in repairs. Manager Darren Leung and his support staff were all very professional in handling my claim, provided a brand new courtesy car and had the repairs done in less than 2 days! Shop is located in a strip of commercial buildings southside of Bridgeport Road and depending on which direction you are travelling on it will be tricky to get to as it's a quick right turn after you pass Shell Road travelling east and there is a no left turn travelling west, so best to be on the lookout for their large green signage.
