I had an extremely unprofessional experience here. My cat was taken here to be euthanized. The doctor that came in the room had been a different doctor than was previously seen. After receiving a diagnosis from multiple physicians, we decided to put our cat down. The doctor comes in and looks at the chart and gives us an "Oh! Wait...", Only to be followed by a "you're making the right decision" a few minutes later (giving us an awkward moment of false hope). Then just as the doctor was administering the euthanasia, someone front the front desk came in and interrupted to ask for payment. The whole thing just felt very unprofessional and uncomfortable. I have been taking my rescue dogs to Trooper vet since we first adopted them. The care has always been excellent. The staff is wonderful. Just by happenstance each dog sees a different vet. Both Dr D'Souza and Dr Luetke are wonderful. Dr D'Souza has been so diligent in caring for our one dog that we adopted with extreme anxiety issues, coordinating with her behaviorist. Dr Luetke was instrumental in quickly diagnosing congenital knee issues of our other dog as a young puppy and getting him into surgery early. I really cannot say enough about how grateful i am to this practice in the on-going care they give to my now aging dogs. We moved away from the trooper area 3 years ago, but still bring our dogs to Trooper vet, even though we have many choices closer to our new home. read more

My grandmother and I took our ailing feline here to be checked out by a professional. Dr. DeSouza checked her out and suggested bloodwork to rule out any possible problems. We left with a 5 day supply of pain meds to make her more comfortable and now she's getting back to her old self! My grandmother also took her jack russell here to have surgery; she had three lumps removed and teeth cleaned. She did end up having two teeth pulled and two fell out in the process, so I guess her gums were pretty bad. I say they're good, but they come with a price tag! That tends to be the trend with the area though. read more

Since we have moved to the area, we had been to a few vets for our cats, and were lucky enough to find new establish with Trooper vet. The facility is impeccably clean and they have a separate area specific for cats who tend to be a bit more sensitive. we have found the vets to be very thorough and knowledgeable as well as caring and sensitive to our concerns. I never felt as though I was trying to be sold something, end treatment plan had always been well explained. Follow up contact and care has been excellent as well. I also feel as though these are reasonable and customary in our area. Unfortunately good vet care is not inexpensive. but we have not felt like it's been over the top. Our doggie, Marley, has been a patient here her whole life, that's 8 years and counting. Not only does our primary vet, Tara Jean Cleary, love Marley like her own, take exceptional care of Marley like she was her own, and offer to teach us how to treat certain areas at home (no thank you! lol), the ENTIRE front desk staff are among the MOST FRIENDLY and ACCOMMODATING people on the planet. Two weekends in a row I had to attempt to get Marley seen for 1) a recent allergy flareup and 2) to check on shot records as we would be boarding her while away on vacation. Did they try to get us in? Yes. Did they take my number and call me back immediately upon an opening becoming available? Also yes. Were we seen that same Saturday? YES. We didn't need to go in for a shot thankfully and the ladies at the front desk emailed over het shot record then and there. THANK YOU TROOPER VET FOR ALWAYS GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND! I've noticed a decline here in the last 2 years. The care became inconsistent - 1 vet would tell me my dog looked amazing for her age while another would dismiss anything I mentioned as being "senior related". More recently, I took our dog in with a *detailed sequence of events & concerns* & the vet was so disengaged, to the point that she didn't even acknowledge my emotion as I told her we were especially concerned b/c we just lost another dog 3 months earlier. I had to bring my dog's weight gain to THEIR attention & was asked if she was spayed when it was Trooper that coordinated the spay! It was clear the vet didn't touch her record before I got there. My dog passed away days later w/ lungs filled with liquid & for the rest of my life I will wonder if I pushed harder or if the vet cared to connect the dots of my concerns, if my girl would still be here or at least have been able to pass more peacefully. We're heartbroken & so disappointed in Trooper. We'll never return nor recommend. read more

We adopted a puppy in January and began taking him there. We only had a few appointments before COVID hit. When we could go in with our dog we were very impressed. All of the staff were great in making our puppy feel comfortable, so much so that he LOVS going to the vet. Most of our visits have been routine, but we have had one accident/injury and one eye infection. The care we received for both were outstanding. We have seen all of the vets and love them all. During COVID they have a great system of driving up to marked spaces, calling in to say you are there and they came and get your pup and take them in. The vet calls you when the visit is complete. I find it very efficient and safe for them and for me. We have just adopted a second dog this week and am looking forward to adding her to the Trooper Vet family of care. This place does not even deserve 1 star. The rudest people I have ever come in contact with. I called their office on a Tuesday explained we just moved back from Georgia our dog has terrible skin allergies and has chewed herself raw. They scheduled her for Wed at 4:10. My husband and I brought our 11 year old shepherd to their office. We missed the turn into the office off of Park Ave. So we had to turn around in the traffic on Park and everyone knows what that is like at 4pm. We went in at 4:12 told them who we were. The girl said ok I will let the vet know. We sat down with our very nervous dog. The woman came out and said we will need to reschedule. My husband and I were so confused. So I asked why. She said because you are late. We could not believe it. We were 2 MINUTES LATE . So we said what are you talking about our appt is at 4:10. She says yes you are late it is now 4:18. Mind you we had been sitting for 5 mins. So we really arrived at 4:12/ 4:13. She said well you are late and that is that. We have another appt scheduled. I asked why would you schedule my dogs appt then. She said we allot 30 mins per visit. Again our appt was at 4:10 we walked in at 4:12 told to have a seat. then told sorry we cant treat your dog because you are late BY 2 MINUTES. They were the rudest people I have ever encountered in a place of business. So since they made me pay for the visit when I scheduled the appointment I told them I want my money back. So that took another 10 mins. This whole time they could have seen my dog that they scheduled. My poor dog was standing there with a open wound bloody and all on her foot, sides and hips. SO IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR ANIMALS I WOULD NOT STEP FOOT IN THIS PLACE. THE WOMAN BEHIND THE COUNTER TREATED US LIKE WE WERE GARBAGE AND WE WERE BEING PUNISHED BECAUSE OF 2 MINS. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TALKED TO OR TREATED THIS WAY. I CAN NOT SAY THIS ENOUGH DO NOT GO HERE. THEY ARE AWFUL AND OBVIOUSLY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE WELL BEING OF ANIMALS OR THEIR OWNERS. Lack of accountability, lack of professionalism. They gave us an appointment time of 10:00 when we showed they ensured us it was 11:00. They were short/rude and not disclaiming all of their protocols for COVID-19. I was told after an hour wait I couldn't leave my car and they would take my dog without me. When I said I wanted to cancel as my dog has separation anxiety and a history of bursting eye vessel when in that environment, she said "okay, sure CLICK" and hung up on me. Wow... last time I go there. Should be Noted: I caught them trying to overcharge/administer anesthesia and had to walk down an invoice hundreds of dollars before moving forward. Be aware and seriously consider looking at other options for your furry loved ones. read more

I must sadly disagree with Mary, and say this is the worst animal hospital I have taken my kitties to. I had a very sick cat, who being a cat mom, I knew in the back of my mind was dying. which is a sad thing to go through as it is. I took her to Trooper Vet where I was told she was just dehydrated. ...Alright, this makes me feel a liiittle bit better. So they told me to leave her with them over night so they could keep her on an IV. Of course I could do that! So the next day the doctor called me personally, which was very nice I must say, and told me that my little one was now hydrated, but still not eating and I should keep her another night so they can try to nourish her. This is when I got a bit nervous as to what my wallet was about to feel. I really didn't have the money to keep her in the hospital, but I did anyway. At this point, they were just keeping my cat and putting different foods in her cage. The doctor called me that night and told me I would be able to visit my little love the next day (A Sunday, they are generally closed) This was great because I'm sure she was scared and missing her home. I was devastated when I got to the hospital the next day to find it was pet pictures with Santa day. Especially when I got the the front desk and the staff had no idea what I was talking about when telling them I was there to visit Oreo. I took her home the NEXT day...$700 later. I was initially told by one receptionist I could go on a payment plan, then told that was untrue. Oreo was put to sleep within the next couple weeks. All I was looking for was compassion and comfort. My friend, who is a vet student was able to diagnose her with a hypothyroid and gave me some medication which i think made her feel a bit better. After telling all my friends to stay away from Trooper Vet and being thankful my ordeal was over, over a YEAR later, I got a voice mail from them telling me Oreo was due for her checkup. Disgusting. I'm so grateful I've found compassionate animal doctors who are looking to heal my cats, not purge my wallet. read more

Trooper Vet takes AMAZING care of our dogs! We have rescues and one especially has had a rough life before coming to the shelter, so is extremely timid, but when we first got him he was beyond timid - he was absolutely terrified of any stranger. Dr. Cleary was so gentle and kind with him that he warmed up to her right away. She also was extremely knowledgeable about not just his physical health but about the effects the abuse and neglect had on him psychologically and gave us great advice about how to help him get over his fears. He is now an amazingly loving dog and is becoming more and more social all the time, due in large part to Dr. Cleary's advice. The prices for treatment are a little above average but still reasonable, and they work directly with our pet insurance company so getting our reimbursement checks is pretty painless. Getting an appointment is SO easy they always seem able to accommodate us, and when we have any pressing issues they can almost always take us on very short notice. Finally, the boarding - we lodge our pups there maybe once a year or so as we try to take them with us in our travels if possible, but when we do board they actually seem excited to go to stay with the vet! Everyone from the front office staff to the assistants and doctors are so happy to see them and it feels like leaving them with old friends. read more

I originally began taking my dog here because it was close by but they are very expensive and I feel as though they will do addition testing in order to increase the price. I decided to write a review because I recent took my dog there for a severe GI tract issue. I called ahead and arrived at the time I was supposed to. When I got there there they changed the appointment to a video call and ultimately refused to see my dog because I had been exposed to COVID-19. Refusing service to a very ill dog is not okay in my book, especially when they are a previous client. I will no longer be taking my pets there. read more

We've not had good experiences at Trooper vet, but went for convenience. We will NEVER return after our last visit. Our 13 yr old beagle struggled to walk, fell often, had impaired vision and hearing, defecated in the house, and stayed mostly separate from our family as he slept all day. For months we prepared to say goodbye, a heart wrenching decision. He still walked with a gimp and ate, so I was concerned about possible guilt from Trooper, who I perceive to be condescending and motivated by making money. I shared with a receptionist my concern that a doctor may not understand what he is like at home and asked what to expect. She seemed to understand and said she'd note in our file why we were coming. Upon arrival, I spoke in detail with the Dr about our dog's symptoms. I thought we were on the same page because when I mentioned how he still ate, Dr A said some dogs enjoy food right to the end. So she basically agreed the only reason we hesitated in euthanasia was a non-factor. But when Dr A called with her assessment, she seemed to forget all I had said about his life at home. He had a burst of energy, excited to visit a new place. She commented on his cataracts, clean ears and teeth (why does that matter now?), and saw his pain, but couldn't conduct a full evaluation because he wouldn't let her touch his abdomen and hips. Yet her "professional opinion" was that he was mostly healthy because he didn't have cancer. I was devastated to explain to a "professional" that he was not fine based on his quality of life at home. She disagreed but said she'd "respect my decision." My children and I began to cry on speaker phone and reminded her of the symptoms we already discussed. Dr A back-tracked, apologized and again said she'd "respect my decision." I felt no respect. I felt kicked in the gut during a most painful experience. I feared a suggestion of pain meds to prolong his life which would be difficult to refuse, but never imagined a vet could be so heartless. This was just a transaction for them, the last transaction they'll have with us. We lost another dog a few years ago at Metropolitan, where we had a wonderful, empathetic doctor who laid out our choices in a way that freed us to make a good decision for our beloved dog and family. I should have gone there again and will in the future! read more

So far I have been happy with the service I had received. I recently had an outbreak of ringworm in my household and the Dr. has been talking to me regularly about our progress. Should have known that this place would be a disappointment from the start. When we first took our dog there, he burst a blood vessel in his eye. It was our dog's fault because he does not like the vet and got over excited. Of course in the heat of the moment, we were upset and may have cursed, but we had every right to because we had no idea what had just happened. We were given pills and reexamined multiple times to make sure our dog was okay. Now, our dog is difficult to deal with. Separation anxiety, hot spots, the works. We have been in and out of there multiple times and I have accompanied my boyfriend for most visits. We were sent a letter saying that my boyfriend is verbally abusive to the staff and they will not tolerate it. We had not opened the letter until I was on the phone with them today. The woman had the nerve to say that my boyfriend has anger issues and the staff is scared of him. As I mentioned above, I have been to most vet visits with him and have never seen a staff member scared of him or him abuse a staff member. Sure, he curses in casual conversation, but we are all adults, or so I thought. Our dog's charts were sent over as well, in the chart, it states that we were difficult to reschedule an appointment with TWO DAYS before the letter was sent out. Difficult? Difficult because I work odd hours and am going back to school soon? By then, they knew they were going to send this fabricated letter out to us, so why bother even trying to reschedule? I am sure the staff just can't get over the one incident where we may have gotten angry and the other incidences where an f-bomb was dropped in casual conversation and that is why they have turned us away. TL;DR: They hold grudges and turn you away for cursing in casual conversation, and not wanting to deal with a dog that needs appointments almost every other week. Overpriced too. read more

Im horrifically scared by this place. I pray no one ever leaves there dog here over night or unsupervised. Vey clean in the front but They're dog boarding area should be consider along the lines of animal abuse. We were house hunting last winter and at the time i lived in another state. They also had decent reviews. Luckily i was smart enough to request a tour of theyre boarding area, where as i walked in i heard every dog in there barking crazy which didn't surprise me since all i could smell is multiple kennels of urine & feces that smelled like it had been there a couple of hours. I also didnt see any dog laying on anything to sleep on but hard concreate. Ontop of that no one even attempting to do anything about it. All they did was look at me with a straight face like it was all okay! read more

I was very very pleasantly surprised by this vet. I moved here from Yardley, and was using a vet closer to my old home. I've had several issues with my old vet (like they started charging $500 for a routine check up visit) and just needed to find a new one. I thought I had some time, but when my dog was having issues with her stomach I needed to find one immediately. I called and made an appointment, the receptionists were very polite and sweet. When I checked in they were very nice and asked me some basic questions. I was taken to the back room quickly. The doctor came in and talked to me for a while and did a very thorough examination of my dog. He even noticed a small skin infection I didn't think twice about. They ran the tests I expected, and he left to examine her sample brought from home. He came back with no definite answer of what was bothering my dog, which I expected. He told me of other further tests we could do and he noted he didn't think it was necessary at this point, he also gave me the option to put my dog on a simple medication, and antibiotic, and a preventative medication and if that didn't help I should come back for more testing. I so appreciate that he didn't push any tests on me that weren't necessary and he was willing to give me options for treatment. I feel confident in the treatment he gave us, and hopefully it will cure my dog of her little bug. After the doctor came in, I waited in the waiting room for a little while and the nurse came in with her medication. She spent several minutes with me going over the treatment and the dosage. She was extremely thorough and made sure I understood everything. After the nurse I went to check out, the prices are extremely reasonable compared to other vets and I feel my money was well spent on my pet's health not bells and whistles. She stressed that if I had any questions or concerns to call back anytime and they would help me. I left happy and confident. Overall, this is a great vet. Everyone is super friendly and the facilities are nice and clean. I feel confident my dog was well taken care of and I trust the doctor. I will be using this as my regular vet. read more

Trooper vet is excellent. We have 2 beagles who they know by name and love on whenever they come in. Whenever we have had any procedures done for the dogs the doctor will personally call with any problems, concerns or updates. Prices are middle of the road, but the staff there is really great. We use the boarding services there whenever we travel, and feel comfortable and confident to leave our four legged loves with them. read more

Twice now had to rush to an Emergency vet clinic following a visit at Trooper, where their "pre-treating" method for keeping my dog from experiencing severe allergic reactions following a vaccine clearly did not work out whatsoever. This place lacks basic compasion and listening skills. My dog suffered 10.more days than necessary because they just don't care. Even after the visit we called them numerous times concerned with our dogs behavior and they made us feel like we were over reacting if they even called us back at all. Lets start off by saying my experience was very uncomfortable with the front desk person who have pink hair and the Indian doctor who examined my puppy. When you first enter the hospital it appears to be very clean in the front area. It was when I arrived in the examine room you saw the real truth of that place. There was blood smeared on the floor in the examination room and dog mess. I couldn't take it anymore and went to spray the floor myself with some bleach cleaning products that was sitting on the counter area. The Indian Veterinarian doctor kept interrogating me stating that I should get my puppy neutered and some type of $1,000 surgery done on his mouth for his teeth to get cleaned, while being under anesthesia. Then my puppy was taken into the back area of the hospital for almost 30 minutes and I noticed that his rare end area was red when he returned. I do not know what weird stuff they are into at that place but it's very scary to leave any dog with them creeps. The fact that I wasn't told over the phone to bring my puppy stool in for testing was upsetting too. That was the reason why I came out there to have my dog tested for parasites and a checkup. Then the Veterinarian kept hounding me about my puppy Rabies shot and other shots. I said I gave the front desk Clerk the information over the phone and I don't know why she haven't done her job over a week now. Then the Vet Doctor went to the front and mysteriously had my puppy records after she done gave him the same shots that I paid for from a year ago. These people at this hospital are crooks and creeps. I will not be taking my puppy back there anymore. Trying to charge me close to $200 bucks for an exam when my puppy already had his shots. This is by far the BEST vet office Ive ever had my pets to. ALL of the vets are great, caring people. They explain everything they want to do as well as alternatives and what the costs will be prior to doing anything. I've been going there for over 20 yrs with all my dogs and guinea pigs. With their help my border collie lived til the ripe old age of 17 1/2 yrs old. When we had to put her down we were led into a special room with a rocking chair and I was give a big blanket to hold her in as they put her to sleep. I was allowed to stay with her as long as I wanted. Even doctor Wichs who had treated my dog for most of that time was crying. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that they don't have 24 hr emergency service and they are kind of expensive. My pets have been seen by every doctor there at one time or another and I have nothing bad to say about any of them. I recently moved to Lansdale and have seen two different vets for two of my animals and have been less than satisfied and I think I'm just going to go back to Trooper even though it's now a half hr ride to get there. After questioning this vet about some recent service and cost I was told there was a miscommunication from them on how much the bill would be...Sorry but that is unprofessional to do service without declaring cost first. No complaints with the staff, they are very friendly.. All of the Dr's are good. The prcing at this facility is just over the top. Try to purchase your medications online. Trooper is typically twice as much as you can get online from the many pet medication resurces. $65 for initial visit and $48 for follow up. Any additional services, CAT Scan, any use of a microscope or anything that happens in the back room, expect a large bill at the end. read more
