This place is legit! Might look like a whole in the wall, but the quality of the food is authentic. Great service too and they show you the food to make sure it's to your liking before you head off. Both dishes I ordered came out hot and fresh and delish just like I was hoping for. Highly recommend

Well hubby and I couldn't resist trying this little Magical Jamaican Diner out again! Once again they did not disappoint! The food was immaculately divine and the customer service was of royalty! This go round we decided to try appetizers. We ordered the beef meat pie and the curry chicken meat pie. Let me just say this, they are very fulfilling and a meal all by themselves and the flavor, OMG! We enjoyed every delicious and flavorful bite! For our entrees, I tried the Jerk Chicken with cabbage and rice and peas. My husband tried the brown stew chicken with cabbage, a side of white rice, and rice and peas. It was so yummy guys! We even ordered a side of coco bread to eat with our meal and it was a great match as we enjoyed dipping the bread in the jerk sauce and the brown stewed gravy. We also ordered a side of fried plantains which were so warm and soft in the middle but golden crispy brown around the edges. Hubby and I were in Jamaican Island Heaven! I didn't get any pictures of the coco bread, the meat pies, or the plantains because we went in, lol. If ever you are in the greater Katy area and you're in the mood for some scrumptious Jamaican cuisine, stop by and give The Tropical Diner a chance to take you on a magical Jamaican Culinary experience! You won't be disappointed! You will leave feeling Irie Irie! Ya Mon!

My mom and I had large oxtail dinner, and my son had the jerk chicken dinner. The food was oh so good. I haven't had good Jamaican food in a while. This different brought back good times.

The young lady taking our order was really nice and patient, which I appreciated since it was my first time trying Trinny food. I ordered the curry chicken with fried rice and potato salad, while my friend went for the stew chicken with roti. Honestly, my plate was just okay. The chicken was a little dry and not as full of flavor as I was hoping. Now, the potato salad? That was the star for me. I could've eaten a whole container of it--I really wish I had grabbed some to go. My friend, on the other hand, really enjoyed her meal and said it was good. The space itself is nice and clean, restrooms included, which I always notice. Overall, I'd give the experience an 8/10

As I walked in, I was not greeted, and was certainly confused as I was expecting a restaurant. It was basically a bar / event space. You order at the bar. After mentioning that it was my first time and requesting a menu, they displayed the menu on the TV. The menu has no pricing, nor did the shelf with specialty items (i.e. caramel, currants roll, etc.). While I enjoyed the music, it was extremely loud for a Sunday morning breakfast. I got doubles and aloo pie to eat there. Sadly, neither one had flavor. I was so looking forward to a nice hot doubles with plenty pepper, and was truly disappointed. The aloo pie barely had potato. I ordered two Sunday lunch plates to-go. One was stew chicken & the other was BBQ chicken. Both were served with fried rice, macaroni pie, and potato salad. The stew chicken was dry. No sauce at all. The BBQ chicken, macaroni pie, rice, and potato salad were decent. I wouldn't say it's something I'd crave or go out of my way for again. Parking: Sufficient surface parking.

Thank god we found this!…read more After finishing our lunch at Wrap & Roll, we saw this out of the corner of the eye and decided to stop here as the girlfriend was looking for some caribbean snacks. Being from St Croix island in the Virgin Islands, seeing the menu and taking in the smells of this place gave her memories of back home. Of course I was happy to indulge her request as it gave me an opportunity to try some handheld eats. First the beef pattie, pretty big and so savory with the meat melting in your mouth and the dough having a nice texture and crust. And then the saheena; OMG! It was my first time having this lovely pastry which is made of chickpeas, spinach, and caribbean spices. You'll be hooked on this after one bite. Texture was similar to a savory piece of cornbread. Of course I was very happy with this item. The girlfriend ordered a currant roll which had some sweetness to it with a flaky crust. I enjoyed it but not as much as I was scarfing down my beef pattie and saheena. They also serve traditional caribbean eats including jerk chicken, oxtails, bake & saltfish, and roti wraps. We noticed a lot of people place to go orders here and call ahead for pick up. There were several bags of eats waiting as we witnessed people roll in and pick them up while having small talk with the owners. All those items looked delicious and we plan to come back and try those out. We also talked to the owners for a bit, they're a husband/wife team who've owned/operated this place for a while. Super polite and gracious, they helped me navigate the menu and explained what the items would be like when I ordered. Sadly I could not get the Aloo Pie (sold out) but they assured me it's worth having and to come back and try it (which we will). Pearland is lucky to have this place here. Definitely recommend trying it out for yourself!

Gotta admit the spiciness had my tongue tingling & my nose running but it wasn't overpoweringly spicy. Btw. I didn't request spicy, that's just how it came. Cabbage and rice & peas were tasty, standard accompaniments. My hubby got the curry goat and it too was very tasty but what got my attention was how tender the goat was! To me, the goat seemed just a little less spicy so the chicken spice level may be just how they cooked the batch that day. Upon entering, I thought it was just a takeout place because I didn't see any tables or seating. While waiting on my food, I discovered a whole other large room with seating, full bar & stage! So takeout or dine-in is definitely an option. It's a little bit of a drive for me but I would definitely return.
