My coworker told me to check out Miami Spice and I am glad I did. Restaurant food on a food truck. The food is made to order, so I called my order in. If you don't call in it takes maybe 15 minutes. The customer service is outstanding. A young lady took my order on the phone and was really patient with all of my questions. When I got there she greeted me. This is a family owned business. I've never really been a food-truck type of girl, but it's a crazy time right now to go and dine-in sooo, I Yelped and found this place! Well, I'm not sorry I did. I took the advice of another Yelper and called in my order in advance. They do take down your credit card information when you order AND everything is made-to-order BUT they don't charge your card until you arrive. (Just the facts..and I understand!). I ordered the Fried catfish platter with a side of sautéed spinach and an order of seafood rice. My husband ordered the Jerk Chicken Mac and cheese. We did get turned around en route and the young lady who took my order called to let me know that my food was ready. So, we finally arrived and are greeted immediately and pleasantly. I was soooooo hungry I ate one of my very large catfish fillets on my way home burning my fingers in the process but it was soooo good and fresh! So, finally arrived at home and tried the seafood rice. I'm not going to lie, though it was also fresh and hot, that's not going to be my jam when I return (and I will be returning!). The spinach was delicious and the jerk chicken Mac was sooo ABSOLUTELY YUMMMM! I'm planning to try the seafood Mac on my next visit and possibly one of the two lobster items on the menu. Miami spice was definitely a surprise- being from Miami we have such a big Caribbean cuisine influence, but when i moved to Houston many times it's hard to really find a good Caribbean spot; plus I'm hyper critical as a foodie! I wasn't expecting much since it was in Katy (a bit far out), BUT the first time i had there jerk chicken pasta, i was shocked... So shocked that after i had the leftovers for lunch the SAME day i ordered there Jerk chick and seafood rice that night for dinner to make sure it wasn't a fluke... And the next week the lobster (make SURE it has the cream sauce). They have something special- Only other place i know that gave me the ITIS like that in Houston on a consistent basis has been Turkey Leg Hut. They offer a lot of specials if you follow their IG- so even some of the pricier items can still be tasted on a budget. To be honest Only reason it has a 4 isn't the food- they just opened a food truck so they have a few kinks to iron out when i went with the wait, but i've personally heard the timing has drastically improved. Definitely worth the drive (and i live off Almeda). My recommendations: 1. Jerk Chicken Pasta (Creamy af) 2. Lobster tail and Seafood mac (Great combo especially with the sauce) 3. Catfish and grits (Def a southern feel, their batter just taste different too) 4. Jerk Chicken+ Seafood rice (Always get the seafood rice) 5. Found them on a Facebook group and I had to check them out! The food was very flavorful. Restaurant quality food coming out of a food truck, I was very surprised. The staff was Amazing, Social distancing was enforced. I was even offered hand sanitizer. They have contactless payments and the young lady brought my food out to my car. Everything is made to order and comes out piping hot. Definitely was worth the wait. The Mac was to die for it was actually baked fresh and the catfish is amazing like advertised it is REAL catfish not swai. The shrimps were great they definitely are not from the gulf.
