This place was surprisingly cute. Like one of those roadside hotels some of us grew up with. The courtyard has artificial glass, seating with tiki tops, swing bench, regular tables. The pool, although not heated, is clean. The owner is very nice as was everyone that worked there. The room was super clean with a comfortable bed and soft linens. Large sized towels too! Not those dinky ones most places give you. There's a mini frig and micro in the room, but no coffee maker. There's a soda machine by the office, no coffee in the lobby either. Diet coke did the trick. I wouldn't say it was quiet as you can hear everyone walking by but it was by no means loud or rowdy! Pretty tropical plants around the property too. Tons of hole in the wall mexican restaurants around..just dont order banelly taquiera (see other review) Its super reasonable priced too! read more

This place looked great online but yikes, it was sketchy. When we checked in they were telling us how to use the shower (like the curtain, etc) it was weird. The linens had holes in them (towels, washcloths, etc) Whatever they used to clean the floor left it greasy and gross. The floor also was missing pieces and it was bowed. Spend a little more money and go somewhere nicer. read more

Not as clean as it should be and only 1 roll of TP provided despite booking a week for 2 people. They don't seem to do any cleaning mid stay that I can tell. So very light on amenities. Good price but they will charge you $15 per child and $10 for parking. Also $25 for late check in after midnight. There was plenty of of late night activity in the parking lot that didn't feel very safe but nothing happened. The beds were comfy and we thought the room to be clean but woke up to a couple cockroaches. That alerted us it was time to check out. We wanted to use the pool but decided against it. Too many rules and too strict for what they offer The hotel is okay for the price - but there's a $10 parking fee which is not clearly informed on booking.com They send a message with all the extra fees they charge for everything but dont mention parking. The bedspread is not changed with every guest and it was disgusting. Towels were pretty old and beaten. Its convenient if you're going to Baycare Sound though. Definitely a little piece of paradise. From checkin to checkout, we had a great stay here at the Tropical Inn. Before we arrived, the owner called us to make sure we were arriving before 10:00 pm since we were checking in a little later than 3:00 pm. He was super friendly on the phone and just as friendly in person. The room was very nice and the location is central to Clearwater beach and all the restaurants we wanted to go to in Dunedin. The facilities were kept up and updated very nicely, from the artificial turf to the updated flooring in the rooms. I chose this hotel on Booking.com not only for the price and location but because of the rating. It definitely lives up to its 9.1. It's not high class fancy by any means but it's a modest indulgence. 10 in my book! Tip: take your family photo in front of the gorgeous Bird of Paradise mural by the front desk/pool area! read more

Stayed at this hotel recently for me and my bfs anniversary. The room was alright clean but bead could have been more comfortable very cheap bedding. Upon checking in we were charged up front for our stay instead of after checking out like a normal hotel. We were also asked to provide 50 dollars in cash only for our deposit meanwhile the guy charged my bfs card. When trying to use the ATM on site vystar had put a block hold on my bfs card to get the deposit out so bring cash with you. There are cameras on property and by the pool but for some reason the man at the front desk watched us swim by peeking over the fence which made us feel uncomfortable. It wasn't the worst experience but for sure will not be coming back. Also tub stopper would not stay in place and kept draining the tub! There was also a cockroach in our room. read more

We were looking for an affordable place to stay while friends visited from Oregon. I found the Tropical Inn and Suites online and figured to give it a try. The price was definitely affordable and significantly less than staying in downtown Tampa. First impressions: Though there is road improvement going on, the hotel stood out as a light and bright small complex off Cleveland Street. After checking in, we went to inspect the room. OMG, I don't think I've been in a cleaner hotel room, even ones that cost hundreds of dollars! The room has colorful appointments and has a friendly feeling. The shower has beautiful tile and is very spacious. There's a small table and two chairs for snacking, and a desk to work. The bed is comfortable and sheets are equally pristinely clean. The place is so clean that I don't feel like I have to wear my sandals in the room! That said, the low cost means limited amenities. No included breakfast and no in-room coffee maker. But there is a local organic supermarket a couple of blocks away with very good coffee. The room has a microwave and refrigerator. The kidney-shaped pool area is very clean, albeit not heated. Everything is in excellent condition. All in all, this is a real gem close to downtown Clearwater in a very cute area. The new sidewalk that was installed as part of the road construction is very wide and facilitates waling to local places. I'd stay here again and again! read more

We found this little charm of a place when doing a search for an overnight stay in Clearwater. For less than $110 we were given a wonderful room for the night. Upon check in the owner greeted us and checked us in. We were given a lower lever room next to the courtyard. The hotel is an older hotel that was recently renovated. Room was immaculately clean and overall a wonderful bargain. Location is about a mile and half from the Clearwater area where we took an Uber about $8 to see a show at the theater downtown. This is not the on the beach hotel, however if you don't mind off the tourist area at an affordable price this hotel is perfect. read more

We had a friends surprise party near by and didn't want to spend too much just to stay one night, so I found this place. The property is fine, it's actually pretty decent for a Clearwater motel. Rooms are (relatively) updated, pool seems nice and even has a neat little courtyard. The problem is the owner/operator. I walked in to check in and was immediately asked for a $100 cash deposit. I've stayed in plenty of hotels before, this was a first. Normally they just put a security deposit hold on the card you use to pay. "You didn't read the policy??" Evidently not, no big deal, must have missed it. No ATM on site, so I drive back about 10 minutes to my closest branch while my partner re-reads the reservation, it's *very* easy to miss, oh well, our fault. Partner clicked "Surprise fee" on the booking website check-in feedback because, well, it was a surprise to us. Walk back into the "lobby" where the owner/operator once again says "You didn't read the policy! WHY DID YOU SAY SURPRISE FEE?!?", thought we'd been over this but I guess the deposit is $100 cash but the shaming is complimentary. I said "Because it surprised us." He honestly would not let this go, saying "This hurts me!". Get our (1) key and head to the room. There are 2 towels, 2 pillows, and TV that had to be reprogrammed. Checking out the next morning, once again the FIRST thing out of owner/operator's mouth is "Why didn't you know about the deposit?!?" in, quite frankly, an aggressive tone. I said, again, "I must have missed it, this can't be the first time". Becoming visibly aggravated, he said "WHY DIDN'T YOU READ THE TERMS!?!". I should mention there are 2 other customers behind me, waiting to also check out. It took me having to raise my voice to say "I'D LIKE TO CHECK OUT. NOW." before he realized I wasn't a tourist that was going to be berated by anyone, let alone someone that was holding my money. I was handed different cash that I deposited and left. Read the scores of the less than positive reviews on any of the travel sites, you'll more than likely see his incredibly aggressive responses. Place is severely overpriced for what it is. It is a slightly nicer version of a Motel 6. They charge $150 a night for a place that is maybe worth $50 per night. I get it that it is a touristic place and hotels on the beach cost 400 dollars a night, but at that price point you should be able to offer something more. Instead there was a dead dried-up roach on display in our room, housekeeping was not done when I asked "because of Covid" which is totally BS in a State like Florida where everything has been open for a year. I travel in Blue States under lockdowns in the past year and housekeeping was performed! When I asked for fresh towels I was also told I had to pay $3 per towel, which is total craziness. No trash was collected and we accumulated it in our room over the course of 2 days. Totally lazy and cheap. No cable channels and room is probably 150 sqf, NOT 300! No trashcans or ashtrays anywhere on public grounds, no vending machines, no coffee machine in the room for the price of a suite in Vegas! A towel was on the pool deck for 2 days and the backyard was full of trash, as no bins were provided. Better off sleeping in your car. RIP OFF. read more

we had bugs all over our pillows and were refused a refund when we brought up the problem and said we had to leave because we did not feel comfortable sleeping in a big infested Motel not suite. Before leaving, the guy at the front desk told us that we would be able to get our refund through booking.com, since we weren't even there a full hour. We contacted booking.com who needed a written consent for the refund and the guy who told us we would get the refund denied it and was very rude on the phone when we brought up this issue. honestly the worst traveling experience i have ever had being stranded at 11pm with bugs everywhere and no place to go. luckily we found a place but would highly not recommend ever giving this place any business ever again. think wisely before you book a motel room here. read more

Run far away!!!!!!!!!The manger/owner motel husband and wife team are rude ,threatening, and not trust worthy .I could not even leave my puppy that was 5 pounds in fear that something would happen to him if he was left alone. I purposely selected the motel because it was pet friendly, but was charged over 250.00 dollars(they did not update their website.) The outside is decent, but rooms were old and I found bugs. When I went to complain I was visibly upset the manger refused to talk to me and stated he only will deal with a man(my husband)He refused to give us our money back!He said if I complained again he would have me kicked out and call the police. I was stuck there so I called the police myself who were not shocked(apparently he has threaten people before)I had to pay 15 dollars to have my grandchildren swim there for the day. It was so uncomfortable he and his wife were trying to find my granddaughters doing something wrong.(there were 4 adults to 2 children)I wound up coming home and going to the hospital with an ulcer attack! read more

If you arrive early, you will also pay extra for check in as they will not hold your bag. You must have a car or expect to Uber. There is nothing within walking distance and the neighborhood is not great. They do not have maid service for your room. you are expected to put your trash out and they are stingy with towels. Renovated rooms This property is an older style motel that has been recently renovated. The motel, room and bathrooms look fresh, bright and modern. This is a basic no-frills option though - there are no tea/coffee making facilities, there is no breakfast provided (but there are plenty of breakfast options nearby) and check out is at 10 am (usually it's 11 am). Also, note that your room will only be serviced if the housekeeper is working that day. We stayed for 3 nights and even though we made a special request for our room to be serviced our room was not serviced at any time during our stay. Our room was on the second floor and if we wanted to have hot water, we had to run the hot tap for at least five minutes. Otherwise we were reasonably happy with our choice - Mike is a really good host, the bed was comfortable and there is a fridge, microwave, flat screen TV and good WiFi in the room. read more

I know about the 100 per room deposit, but I paid everything upfront, I was advised there would be a 2% charge for using a credit card, The rooms were clean and nice. In no uncertain terms, we were told absolutely not. We had booked a refundable rate but being that it was the day of arrival there was no flexibility. Additionally, beware of all the additional fees they tack on after you book. The room rate is not the end of the story! Wish we had read more reviews before we booked. Me and my boyfriend were celebrating our anniversary in Clearwater and we didn't want to spend $300 a night to stay on the island. Tropical inn and suites was a fair price for what it was. We've stayed at many hotels and this one was clean, smelled good, and it was in range of all the things we wanted to do on this trip. This place looked recently renovated and painted pretty colors. They have a cute patio area with picnic tables near the fenced in pool. They did require a $100 cash deposit which I was unaware of but no problem we just ran to the gas station atm which charged almost a $4 fee. We didn't get a chance to use the pool but it looked very nice, they even had a handicap chair lift in it. We didn't spend much time at the hotel, just to sleep. The only downside was that you can hear everything outside the door which woke us up in the morning, around 9-10am. They also had a ton of pamphlets of things to do around the area. Great stay we'd probably stay again if we come back. read more

The room states it come with a kitchenette. Which is 2 stove top burners that requires magnetic pots that the motel does not provide so we had to throw out all the food we purchased for the stay. It was 3 rooms booked total. 2 suites and 1 king. The king bedroom lighting in the bathroom did not work so the owner just placed a lamp in the bathroom. Check out is at 10am and for late check out its an additional $20 and thats only til 1130. But I have an email that states its until 2pm max but would not be honored. For my 3 room the owner was very rude to my brothers pregnant girlfriend with her just asking about the extra fees. Stating "you can cancel you reservation for free and just go find another room" All the rooms had outlets hanging out the walls. None of the refrigerators would get cold. I had my own pillow but the group stated the motel pillows were hard and had an odor to them. We had disinfectant spray so that helped I wouldn't recommend this motel at all until its brought out by a brand hotel chain or sold to a better business pioneer. I reserved this room 8 months in advance as part of a wedding group. The confirmed reservation was $676 for 5 nights. Three months prior to the stay our flights were cancelled and had to be rebooked one day earlier. Called Mike or wife and they said no problem and made no mention that this would nullify the rate. When we checked in Mike the owner changed the rate to over $900 dollars and demanded cash in full at check in. No credit cards. He was afraid we would refuse payment with credit card company. Loved my stay here!! Quiet area, clean rooms, very cute courtyard and a really nice outdoor pool! My friend and I also accidentally had locked out key in the room and we didn't arrive back to our room until 2am and Mike (manager? owner?) was so sweet and helped us day and night!
