We rented Unit 508 at Crystal Palms Resort in Treasure Island through Oasis Getaways for a six-week winter stay. Our complaint is not that construction occurred. Major projects are sometimes unavoidable. Rather, we believe the extent of the disruptions affecting our stay was never adequately disclosed. During our booking discussions in the summer of 2025, no mention was made of major construction. The day before our arrival, we received an email describing a "much needed facelift" and advising us to expect some "exciting activity" during weekdays. What we actually experienced was far more disruptive. Workers repeatedly used our unit to transport equipment and materials, scaffolding was erected on our balcony, and our exterior windows and doors were covered with plastic for nearly three weeks, eliminating most natural light, airflow, and views. Noise, dust, and limited pool access further reduced our enjoyment of what was intended to be a premium six-week winter vacation. After discussing our concerns and requesting compensation, we were offered only a 10% discount on a future rental, the same offer apparently extended to guests whose units were affected far less than ours. Had we known the true extent of the disruptions before arrival, we would have seriously considered alternative accommodations. Our complaint is not that construction occurred. Absolutely unacceptable experience -- avoid this rental This was one of the most disappointing rental experiences I have ever had. After paying to stay in this condo, we were shocked to be hit with a $200 "cleaning" charge for items that were nothing more than normal, minor use -- including wiping out a freezer and cleaning a stovetop. These were simple wipe-down tasks that do not justify an outrageous fee. Even more concerning was the way our service dog was treated. Our dog is a legitimate service animal who has been accompanying us for over a decade, yet the property attempted to report him. The lack of understanding, professionalism, and respect shown toward a trained service animal was extremely upsetting and unacceptable. A rental company should understand the difference between normal occupancy and damage. Charging excessive fees for routine cleaning while questioning a service animal reflects a lack of fairness and customer service. I would strongly caution anyone considering staying here. There are many rental options available where guests can expect to be treated with basic respect and where reasonable expectations are applied. read more

Update 8/7/2020: Sadly, I can no longer recommend staying here. The location has become incredibly rundown and it's clear that the proper maintenance is not occurring. From the uncleanliness of the baseboards (that clearly need to be not only scrubbed but painted as well) to the general wear and tear of the room it's become disgraceful. Also noticed an increase in loud and obnoxious guests. The individuals staying in the next-door room to us were loud and obnoxious the entire night. This went from being our go to resort to never coming back again. We always stay here when we come to town! The resort is across the street drom the beach but if you have a room on the 3/4/5/6 floor you will be able to see the gulf. The rooms are always clean and contemporary. We have literally never had a problem with them and we've stayed at least seven times. The changed though from being a boutique hotel to being privately owned condos that are now managed by a property company to rent out as needed. Easy walking to eareries in the area and a simple walk across the street to the beach. Updated 10/21/2018: came down for a quick one night get away. A few things have changed - they require a $100 hold on your credit card now for in incidentals. It gets released when you check out. Check-out time is now 10am. This one hurts as we like to take advantage of some of the local bars and with such an early check-out time, it's hard to truly enjoy them. read more

My first and last stay at the Crystal Palms. Good location and spacious rooms with a large balcony but that's about all that's good. This is sadly a place that has not been maintained. The suites are filthy dirty, the furniture is stained and worn. Entire unit needs a deep clean and paint job. Air conditioner did not remove the humidity, everything felt damp. Lots of better options on Treasure Island, keep looking. read more

I'm torn between and three and four star rating. Let me start off by saying, I can get on board with some pretty no frills style hotels or rentals as long as they're clean. Our stay started off on the bumpy side with the room needing to be Rex leaned due to an abundance of hair throughout the sheets and pillow cover, in cleaned floors and some not-so-clean bathrooms. They sent someone up the next morning to remedy the issues but it's not the most ideal way to start the visit off. On the positive side, they offer a dedicated parking space, location directly across the street from beach access to Treasure Island, easy walking distance to John's Pass and other restaurants (John's Pass is a little too touristy for me). The hotel pool and hot tub were both very clean and warm. I also appreciated the large porch found with each apartment. Lastly, they restock towels and washcloths every other day but start you out with only washcloth and towel per person. A more thorough cleaning and attention to detail would go a long ways with making this a more positive experience. read more

I truly wanted and hoped this would have been a 5 star stay, but unfortunately, it was not. The location was perfect, and I appreciated having an assigned parking spot. My issue was with the cleanliness of our room. The floors were dirty, sheets and towels stained with makeup. All surfaces had dirt, hair, and sand. Worst of all, the trash left by the previous renters was still filled to the brim underneath the sink. I was truly shocked by this, and it meant no one cleaned our unit before our arrival. Staff is only on property until 5 pm, so I waited to checkout 10 am to discuss with management. However, no one was there when we left. I'm super disappointed because I expect so much more when paying a premium to be in this area. read more

What a nice place to stay! We got a 3 bedroom suite and it was so very nice. It was kinda pricey but I didn't feel cheated. I got what I paid for. It was 1 night only and for 3 couples it was $160 per couple. The staff was extremely helpful. Our rooms were amazing. The view was over the top. We were on the top floor maybe it was considered rooftop. It had this wrap around balcony. Each room featured something special but what seemed like the master had a closet with beautiful built in shelves and a jacuzzi tube. It was so bright and clean we were really able to relax here. The pool wasn't huge but there was plenty of chairs and a hot tub. I don't know what a regular room costs but if the single rooms are half as nice as this one it would be worth it. I will definitely check this place out again. read more

First stay here. Excellent location. Very close to a crosswalk and public beach access. Nice pool. Hot tub was not working during our stay. They've done a good job of spacing the furniture out at the pool for Covid. No housekeeping at this time because of Covid, but you can call for anything you need. Beds are VERY firm, if I'd have known we would have packed a foam pad. Nice size space for the 3 of us. Kitchen was adequately stocked. Need a casserole dish. Bring your own laundry detergent and dish washing pods if you cook, they only supplied 1 dish pod and no laundry soap. AC blows very cold. Balcony is lovely with a great view. I've stayed at the Crystal Palms several times but this last visit seemed to make me think it's the last. The upkeep has slipped over the last few years and the friendly staff have been replaced with sneaky, mean and disinterested people who seem to be straight out of the methadone clinic. I booked the best room there and one day one the toilet didn't work, the cold water for the jacuzzi was broke and couldn't be fixed during my stay, the floors were dirty (no one apparently moves anything when they sweep either) and no one could bring extra towels. The maintenance guy was leering at my girlfriend and her friends the entire time he "tried" to fix our problems and front office manager shrugged her shoulders when confronted. He also made a racist to our friend on his way out the door. There are many other nicer options in Treasure Island and they now have my business. read more

Living in Tampa, just over the pond from here, we just wanted a quick little weekend getaway July 4th weekend. Since there's only 36 units in this place and it being a holiday weekend, the place was pretty much booked. But we opted for a 2 bedroom, the only thing available, for 2 of us, which was much more room than what we needed. At the FL resident rate, it was an ok price. I requested a room on a high floor due to reading reviews about the view and the noise. Upon check in, it was very pleasant, the lobby was very nice - love the lighting. The desk person was very nice however when we were told we were on the 3rd floor, I reiterated my request to be on a high floor. That was all they had. Ok, fine...it couldn't be that bad, we thought. When we got to the room, we were impressed by the decor. Everything looked clean and liked it very much. We went to bed fairly late and wanted to sleep in. Before 8 am the first morning, I was awakened by something very loud outside, almost sounded like a garbage truck. I figured it was Saturday, I didn't think it really was a garbage truck, but something that loud... Once my eyes opened, the light that shined so brightly in the bedroom was disturbing. Eventhough we closed the shade and the other window covering, there is an inch of light on one side and about 2 inches on the other side of the window from floor to ceiling. I could not get back to sleep. And the traffic noise continued to be very apparent. At 8:30 am I went downstairs to speak with the front desk and was greeted by a friendly "good morning." I asked for more creamers and sugars and was given them quickly, I asked for a do not disturb sign and he did not have one. Then I proceeded to request a different room on a higher floor due to the noise, even if it was a 1 bedroom. I was told all the 1 bedrooms were on the 2nd floor. Then I requested a 2 bedroom on a higher floor to help with the noise. I was told he couldn't change my room because people were checking in today. I stated that I understand there are other people checking in today- give them the room we are in. He said he couldn't do that because they'd have to clean another room. I said "That's right! Because I'm unhappy where I am.". (duh) He said the manager wasn't in at that time but would let them know. I took my sleepy self upstairs and waited to hear from the manager. At 9:10 am there was a knock at the door. I jumped up to get it and before I could get half way across the kitchen there were several more knocks and could hear the 'housekeeping' yell/warning. Just the reason I wanted a do not disturb sign. Luckily they had one, I immediately put it on the door, we did not want or need any service or anything else. 10 am rolled around and I still hadn't heard from the manager. So about 10 minutes later I called down (not wanting to waste my day waiting). I was connected to Heather Murphy. She was supposedly the 'manager.' I introduced myself, gave her my room number and politely said I wasn't sure if the desk person shared my complaint, which he had. The 'manager' flat out and quite rudely said she is not changing out any rooms that day (Saturday) and offered no resolution or consolation. After a few polite exchanges on my part expressing how someone else who reserved a 2 bedroom could have that room, etc. I was told that there are people checking in staying 7 nights vs our 2 night stay. Apparently, they are more important than existing guests. And with no offering of any sort, I stated that we'd decide if we'd stay another night or not and left it at that. Since we had a wedding in the area to attend that evening and wanting to just relax, I decided Heather Murphy wasn't going to ruin my time and suffered through it one more night and made the best of it. Little did she know that we were also scouting for a location to stay for the whole family for a week (or more). She won't have our business and we will be sure to share the sub-par experience with all of our friends, family and acquaintances. I used to work in hotels previous to my corporate, professional career, I am certainly familiar with hospitality customer service and this is not it. We would not return just based on the lack of accommodation/customer service. If you have an issue, don't expect any resolution. We do not recommend it. Nasty business in more than one way!!! We have stayed in Crystal Palms twice a year for the past 10 years. Lately, we noticed that the upkeep of the apartments has been going down. The bathrooms are not too clean, the sofas and throw pillows are disgustingly dirty and this past weekend, we even found a few roaches. Let me narrate our experience this past Memorial Day weekend. We were parked in the Handicap parking with the handicap tag hanging, unfortunately it seems that the parking permit that read our apt. number (505) blew away to the back seat when we opened the door. When we went to put away some things in the trunk of the car at around 5pm, our car was not there, it had been towed. That day we saw 2 other cars being towed, all 3 of the cars belonged to guests staying at Crystal Palms. To continue with our experience, We called the front desk to complain, and the lady in the front desk, immediately said that she had nothing to do with it. We called to find out were the car was and the towing company asked for $200 CASH. They wouldn't accept debit or credit cars. My husband and 2 other of our guest went to get the car at the towing facility while I was talking to the front desk lady. She threatened me with calling the police and throwing us out. Let me clear, that I was not screaming or being disrespectful, I just told her that, "I believe there is a connection between Crystal Palms and the towing company to share the money collected for towing". I clearly understand that if a person is parked illegally and someone complains, they should call the towing company and remove the car. However, that is not what happened. Someone from the front desk must have been checking and calling to get all the cars removed, because it was a few cars. One of guests ran to stop them from taking his car and he still was charged the $200 cash even after he showed them the parking permit. Even though the law says that if they haven't removed the car, they should charge only 1/2 of the fine. We went out to dinner and when we came back at 9:30pm, we saw both tow trucks on both entrances of the building parking and the 2 drivers with flashlights checking inside the cars for the permits. I believe that is called harassment and the property management allows that to happen. When they saw us, they recognized our car, we waited a little bit to see what they were going to do and then parked. As soon as we got out of the car, we went to check and they had disappeared. We also saw from our balcony people in the jacuzzi at late hours in the night having sex. Instead of harassing guest for the parking, they should be checking on what goes on around the property. There is no supervision at night after certain hours and the entrance doors to the building are open all night. There is no security for the guests. We are so disappointed that we cancelled out last day and asked for a refund since we had paid ahead of time for all 4 days. We will never stay at Crystal Palms again!! read more

Wow! What a great spot to spend the weekend! Not only are the rooms immaculately remodeled and decorated, they are super clean, comfortable and offer all the amenities of an apartment -- without someone else's stuff there. We lucked out and got a corner 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit with a great view of the Treasure Island thoroughfare and beach. This place is literally steps from the beach and on top of the beach access, offers a great pool and hot tub - perfect for a nightcap and cool off after spending the day on the beach. Hit it up in low season for great rates and a good choice of room. Skip the gym in the tiny room on the second floor and hit the beach for a magnificent sunset run. Highly recommended! read more

We stayed here in January 2013 at one of the Penthouse Suites, and absolutely LOVED the room, the view, and the location. Sure - it's not right on the Gulf of Mexico,but if you get a room high enough in the building (and the Penthouse is) then you can see just fine! There was a fabulous garden tub in the Master Suite, wonderful granite kitchen, great deck area, and two other bedrooms for lots of family fun. The staff was so very helpful and really seem to like their jobs. We love the location because you can walk to so many things - John's Pass, great restaurants, live music, ice cream, and the beach for morning walks. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE! We booked to stay for 10 days here. The rooms were super filthy as they are hiring new maid staff and are understaffed. The showers were covered in brown marks, there was dirt all over the floors and the sheets had stains. They had positioned a big glass table in the living room. We after requesting someone to come clean the room, the glass top (which was unsecured) slid off the base and shattered across the floor. They made it very difficult to get someone to come clean it up but also charged us an addition $350 for something that was not our doing. They are con artists and unprofessional. These units are not even owned by the hotel. They are condos that are privately owned and only managed by this so called "hotel" also this is not beach front it is across the street and not worth the money. We were lucky to not get injured in the accident and instead of being cared for as guests we were charged extra and ripped off. read more

This place is absolutely spectacular. We were in room 203. We stayed June 7 through the 11th. The staff was extremely helpful. Our room had a commanding view of the beach and the pool area. You were walking distance to the beach. The location is walking distance to many good restaurants in the area. There is plenty of parking. Our room was not necessarily a "hotel room"-But more like a one bedroom condominium. We had two bathrooms. Full kitchen with refrigerator. King size bed. Found this place on AirBNB, but don't be fooled. It is merely a suit hotel. Run by a company, not an individual owner so there is no personalized service that you get with Airbnb. Bait and switch. They check you into any available suit, not the room we booked for. Staff is very nice and accommodating but the kitchen was horrible. Hardly any kitchenware to cook with. Dishwasher was broken. Oven didn't not heat properly. Whole place needed a deep cleaning. Pool area was very nice. Convenient to beach access. So some good things, but not what we expected. The room was very nice. Beautiful furnishings and very nice appliances. The bad part was all the partying in the complex. We stayed 4 nights and only got sleep one night. At 9:00 as soon as the front desk staff left the parties began. They went on until 3:30 am nightly. People screaming and yelling, fighting, things hitting walls. People were vomiting off the balcony next to ours and the smell of pot was coming through our closed balcony doors. This was advertised as a family resort and it was not. We did call several times and spoke with security but it really didn't seem to help as the parties still went on and we were all kept awake. read more

Most of the kitchen utensils was none existing or broken. Penthouse was more like economy class. Also very rude front desk staff, especially one younger girl. I sent an email and called Provident the company that manages the Crystal Palms and never received a a response. A group of us stayed at the Crystal Palms Condos in Treasure Island from 6/9/2023 to 6/20/2023. Our entire trip was ruined by your towing polices. Upon arrival on 6/9 we were greeted by the front desk person. I believe her name was Kaylie. She gave us a pass to put in our car window but did not make that big a deal about it. With all the hustle and bustle of checking in, we forgot to put the pass in the front window. We were all hungry and wanted to get some dinner. Within an hour my car was towed. When we came back we asked Kaylie what happened she immediately took a defensive posture. Knowing what we know now it is understandable as this is a common practice of your establishment. Instead of being understanding she became defensive and basically said "I told you this would happen. " I can assure you she was not that clear about it. Regardless this is no way to treat one of your guests. You can think it, but you should never say it. We were all very irritated and expressed how upset we were. We never used profanity or disrespected Kaylie in any way. We let Kaylie know that this was no way to treat a guest and that we would all be sharing our experience on Google and other social media platforms. Kaylie escalated the situation by informing us that everything thing is being recorded, threatened to call the police, and kick us off the property. At this point we were beside ourselves. I told her to go ahead and call the police we were not doing anything illegal, unless asking for good customer service is now a crime. We are all professionals and mostly locals. Since threatening us with police involvement did not seem to phase us, she then proceeded to tell me that she has two kids at home and this was her day off. As if this had anything to do with our situation. I asked her for a supervisor's number. I made a call to the number she provided. The person on the phone was extremely rude and short with me. I asked him how he could possibly speak to a guest this way. I came to find out that Kaylie did not give me a supervisor, but the tow truck company. The man on the phone, who is also the owner of the tow company, told me I can pick up my truck anytime. It was late so we decide to go the next morning. Upon arrival to Frist choice Towing I was informed that they only take cash. He then proceeds to tell me that the ATM is not working. To add insult to injury he then tells me it will be an additional 37.00 for overnight. All of this should have been explained to me on the phone, but he chose not to. I wonder why. That evening alone four other cars were towed that belonged to guests. This is quite a racket you have going. I understand you have people going to the beach parking illegally on your property. It was eight o'clock at night and there were empty spaces everywhere. Kylie claims she tried to call the room. She had our cell phone numbers why did she not try that? In addition, there was a bunch of us, she watched us leave for dinner. It was not busy at all so I do not know how she did not remember or just does not care. I am sure If we owed you money you would have called our cell. Another guest told me my car was towed in less than two minutes and that he watched more cars being towed. We rented four rooms via VRBO. We contacted all the owners and they all said that the towing is a big problem. We also feel that either the hotel or some of it's employees are in on the scam and getting kick backs. The precision, timing, and frequency leads me to believe this. At this rate First Choice is probably making 1K per day or more just from the Crystal Palms. If this is how want to treat your guests at least hire a company that is going to be professional. For the record, your manager was not very helpful either. The basic attitude is "we told you so." Regardless you ruined our weekend and it cost me 285.00 and lots of wasted time and aggravation. Your staff needs some hospitality 101 training. There were almost twenty people in our group and we all witnessed what happened. It will not go unnoticed. read more

I don't even want to give this place one star. First I rented a two bedroom so each couple could have their own showers. Well, one shower wouldn't get warm called the front desk and they said they couldn't fix it and didn't care to accommodate the guest. So all four of us had to take turns in one little bathroom. Then after walking around for five minutes bare footed our feet were black! Called the front desk not once but three times! And they never had anyone come clean it. The couch had stains, dirt everywhere and the fake wood was peeling off of the kitchen cabinets. For what they are charging I should've just stayed at the Hilton that was 5 miles further away. We picked this location for our vacation and we were extremely pleased with our selection. This hotel is very nice and offers a very classy ambiance. Upon check in, the staff was very nice and provided A+ service to us. We loved our SUITE; very clean and comfortable with modern facilities. I really loved our 2-bathrooms with the stand-in shower. We enjoyed our ocean-side view. Although they're doing some upkeep on surrounding properties, our view was still nice. read more

This place is great. The staff were very nice and helpful. It was half the price of far less impressive places we stayed, and the suite was very impressive. It's quite large, totally updated, and the two bathrooms were a big bonus. We didn't especially love the Margaritaville vibe of Treasure Island, but that's no fault of this place. If you're into the 'Spring break all the time' thing then Treasure Island is for you. And while you're there, do yourself a favor and stay at the Crystal Palms. They care and it shows. read more

What a great property for the price. The pool and hot tub area is very clean and enjoyable. All rooms are hotel style with private bathrooms, full kitchens, living rooms, and TVs in every room. The beach is literally right across the street and the location is convenient to almost everything. John's Pass is a short walk one direction and there are plenty of other restaurants and stores two blocks the opposite direction. I've been to this area several times and I think for the price you cannot beat this resort. read more

Wish I could give it a 4.5 because it's almost the best it gets! This was so affordable, relatively quiet and most certainly spacious. The two of us shared a 1 bedroom that featured a view of the pool, a full kitchen (thanks for stocking with dishes and things to clean them with!), and a giant bed. My one complaint is that the TV quality was, frankly, rubbish. HD isn't available and it's quite fuzzy on both televisions. We weren't there to watch a bunch of tv but we did want to watch some and rent a movie in one night but, no pay per view either. Would be a nice, easy upgrade for them. Easy to walk to restaurants, Publix, beach, pool (saltwater!) was rarely crowded even during the 4th of July weekend. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable, courteous, and efficient. We stay here every year for at least a week for vacation. It's a great location and they are flexible with dates unlike a lot of places during prime season that only allow for sat-sat rentals. We loved staying here!! The rooms are spacious and the staff was awesome. Rachel at the front desk was very helpful and offered lots of suggestions for things to do in the area. We loved having a full kitchen because we didn't want to eat out for every meal. There's a grocery store near by and a "free taxi" service that made it convenient to get to/from. We also liked having a washer/dryer in our room and found we used it a lot during our week stay. We used the trolley service to get around and there's stops right by the hotel which was nice. I have not stayed here. I live basically across the street. During the summer times July , Aug it is a loud obnoxious party place on the weekends. Til 4am tonite. July 8th 2022 loud sounds like young kids yelling running around crazy all over the premise and on the streets around here. And there is no security or a front desk person to reprimand them. I saw out my window about 10-20 very young people hooting and hollering all nite. It's absolutely ridiculous screaming to the tops of there lungs. At 4AM!!!!!! The owner of This beautiful place in such a nice quiet beach neighborhood should be ashamed of themselves. All they care about is the almighty dollar. What a shame. I would NEVER recommend this place to anybody EVER. Even if the rooms are clean it wouldn't matter. It is an absolute disgrace. I almost never rite a negative review but this place is affecting my peace and disturbing the peace. I will be going to the front office on Monday when all the wild drunk loud people are gone and complaining and voicing my opinion read more

Beautiful location and spacious condo! But needs a little bit of an upkeep. Although the towels and bed sheets were "freshly" cleaned I still found stains/spots on them. Also towels were suppose to be replaced every 2nd of a full day stay and they were not, we ended up requesting towels a long with toilet paper. The water/heater closet was beyond moldy, along with some of the closets in the bedrooms. I like sunset vistas condos a lot better which is right across the street. I would recommend anyone to go there first before going to crystal palms read more

My husband and I stayed there after attending an event at The Club at Treasure Island. It is BEAUTIFUL, quiet, great service, wonderful layout of the room, and across the street from the beach. We will definitely be back! read more

If you are looking for an apartment/condo to stay at while in Treasure Island, this might just be the place for you! Three of us stayed in a 2-bedroom unit and had a ton of room. (The unit was larger than many apartments I have lived in!) Two bedrooms, two full baths, living/dining area, fully equipped kitchen, laundry, nice pool! Everything was nice and clean. Really, I can't complain about the unit. However, I will complain about the location. There is a reason this "resort" is on the odd side of the street, when all the other hotels are on the even side. The beach is on the even side! To get to the beach from here, you have to cross a very busy road. So busy, I would not let my child do it alone. I will note, however, we did not experience noise from the street as others have complained about. Maybe that is because we were on the 5th floor. Also note, this is NOT a HOTEL. There is no restaurant on site. Therefore, no restaurant, no room service. And no pool bar! If you want to have a drink while lounging by the pool, you have to plan ahead and stop at the 7-11 at the corner first. And make sure you either buy beer in cans or get plastic cups - there is no glass allowed around the pool. Now, I'm on vacation, I like to get some frosty, blended concoction from a bartender who knows his stuff. Instead, I'm drinking beers from 7-11 out of a plastic party cup. Call me a snob, but this is not my idea of vacation.... If we visit Treasure Island again, I'll look for a HOTEL to stay in, rather than a CONDO. That's just my preference. But again, if you are looking for a condo, the unit was nice, big, and clean. Housekeeping was good. Good spot, right between St Petes and Mediera Beach. read more

Although the location is good, and the rooms are nicely furnished, it lacks comfort. The only food on site is 1 vending machine. No dining of any kind unless you have it delivered from the pizza guy. No lounge, of any kind. So bring your own, or cross the street where the gulf side hotels are, and have a drink at one of their tiki bars. But the biggest mishap in my opinion is the lack of privacy. It still blows my mind that the only window coverings they have are sheer shades. NO privacy panels!! There is so much lighting on the streets, that even with the lights out, you could still see in the windows. And forget about sleeping. Somewhere, some street light will be shining right in your eye. I don't think we will repeat our stay here. read more
