My watermelon Mojito experience... I ordered one for the first time on 8/01 at 2pm and it was delicious!!! Just how they had described, flavorful and fresh.. I liked it so much that I asked my daughter to get me one for dinner, she went at 8:15, I got it and was hoping for the same delicious flavor but it was NOTHING like it. The watermelon smoothie didn't taste like Watermelon at all!! I'm back this morning 8/02 getting one again to see if it was the night crew, and yes, the morning smoothie is DELICIOUS!! Wow, I really like TS but this location was the worst! If I were the owner I'd want to know how many people walked out while I was waiting (forever) for my order. I came in just before a deluge of people on a Saturday. The poor (2) staff were making smoothies for everyone but neglecting the food orders. So I (and others) got our smoothies but had to wait for our food orders. When I finally asked about it the girl said "I'm on Smoothies". Lol. I watched and waited for 20 minutes while the other girl (who I guess was on food) made smoothies and neglected food orders. At least 7 people came in, waited and then left because neither of the girls who were frantically making smoothies, took any new orders. Upgrading to 3 stars ... my visit here last year was my first Tropical Smoothie experience, and it was rather meh. Granted, I didn't get a smoothie here, just lunch, and had terrible fish tacos. Since then, I had a yummy lunch at the TSC in Dumfries, and have gotten my wife hooked on their smoothies. I left my car at work last night and my wife was kind enough to drive me to work today in exchange for lunch. It was just before 11AM and many of the usual lunch spots hadn't opened yet, so we went here for lunch. My experiences at TSC are up and down ... I was at the Manassas location just this weekend and I would never eat there because there is a weird smell that permeates the establishment. I caught a very slight whiff of it at this TSC, but it was so faint that after a minute or so I didn't notice it. My wife ordered the King Club wrap, and I ordered two Korean beef tacos. My wife seemed to like her wrap, and my tacos were tasty. But they were WAY too expensive - nearly $6 - for the size. Their food tends to be overpriced and small portions, and this TSC didn't have any specials to offer a better value for the food dollar. However, the one consistent among all of my TSC visits is that the smoothies are REALLY good. And maybe they think that you'll get so full off of their huge $4+ smoothie that you won't really care about the small food portions. Sorry Charlie, I noticed, and that's why TSC is at the lower end for lunch options for me. However, I do pledge my continued patronage for your delicious smoothies. read more

Why should you take my word on smoothies? Because I make them at home and it only takes me about 2 weeks to earn a free smoothie at Robeks. It's safe to say I am a smoothie connoisseur (and apart from a killer veggie mac and cheese, it's all I really bother making at home). So, with that said...I tried this place on a whim because someone got me a gift card. I was a dedicated Robeks customer, but after trying Tropical, I haven't gone anywhere else for a smoothie, nor will I. There are a few reasons for that, but the first is that their 24-oz smoothies can be added to ANY food item for $3. That makes it an unbeatable value proposition against other quick-service places (not to mention healthier). My go-to is the Spinach & Kale smoothie and a breakfast burrito (usually the Early Bird, filled with eggs/chicken/tomato/pepper jack/chipotle mayo). I walk out for under $7.50 and am satisfied for hours. I've only tried the breakfast entrees and a few smoothies (try the Caribbean Carrot). But everything has been amazingly good, and it's darn consistent...always the same, never poorly made. I'm not a perfectionist about service. And I'll admit that I've waited a bit too long for food or drinks. BUT, I enjoy the food and the owners so much that it doesn't matter to me anymore. The owner/manager is very young (like, not even 30) so I cut them a lot of slack. He is a very friendly guy and when I had to wait a while for my breakfast wrap the other day he gave me and another customer who was waiting on the same thing a "free lunch" card. I don't usually post negative reviews and I usually love tropical smoothie, but afraid to say that the customer service I've received at this location specifically is awful. The workers don't ask what you'd like to order, they just look at you silently and wait for you to start. If you order a meal and don't realize it comes with side(apple/chips/etc), they won't ask you what you want, but will instead throw a random item in the bag when they hand it to you. No "please", no "thank you", they just print out a receipt and hand it to you silently. Lastly, there have been multiple instances where I could tell the food wasn't prepared with fresh ingredients. If there were another tropical smoothie around I could drive an extra 5 minutes to I'd do it every time. read more

This tropical smoothie is a great location that I go to very regularly, but today I greatly disappointed. I went in an ordered a quesadilla and 2 smoothies. It took 2 minutes to get my quesadilla but my smoothie is a different story. It took at least 30 minutes to get my smoothie after multiple people came in and got theirs before mine, and I was in a rush to go somewhere. Not only this but when I asked the employees about my order they couldn't understand anything I was saying. This tropical smoothie was a complete disappointment today. I also saw an employee give a back massage to an another employee and then proceeded to make food with the same gloves. This location is full of health code violations. read more

This place is amazing! The customer service is spot on! They recognize you after only a couple visits and they are always more then willing to offer suggestions, especially when the monthly flavors come out. They have never steered me wrong. The music has never been to loud (if on at all), especially since you are usually in and out within five minutes. I've been going to tropical smoothie for years. Last week i asked for a kiwi quencher with green tea and they made it for me. Today I went in and ordered my same drink I always get. When I asked for green tea (not matcha green tea) the employee ringing me up said they haven't had it for 3 years. I said false. I was here last week and they had it. She said "they must've put something else in there then and not told you" when I asked what they put in my drink, they wouldn't say. Throw the whole store away for real. read more

Wanted something light for lunch yesterday since I was planning a big dinner and my boyfriend recommended this place. I passed on the smoothie since it was freezing cold outside but my boyfriend got one and really enjoyed it. They're huge 32ozsmoothies for only $5! If you purchase a meal and add one on, they're only $3! I ordered the king Caesar wrap and it was delicious! Tasted just like a chicken Caesar salad all wrapped up in a tortilla! It was exactly what is wanted. My only reasoning for leaving only 4 stars is because the staff was not friendly. We were the only customers when we walked in and the cashier merely mumbled a greeting that I didn't even catch. He wasn't rude but he also didn't smile once through the entire visit. read more

Staff is very friendly and fast. They know how to keep the long lunch lines moving. I work right next door so I come here frequently when I want a refreshing smoothie. I'm simply impressed with this place. A little smoothie place that can make killer wraps and sandwiches. I had a hummus wrap the other day thinking it would be pretty mediocre. It had so much flavor and fresh ingredients. I also love their Caribbean flatbread, the sauce and cheese are awesome. The smoothies and sandwiches are great. Customer service today was not so good, but it used to be fine. I felt like I had to pull information out of the guy to find out what the included sides were (and then they were missing from my order). They have a Rewards Account system but I don't know what it's used for and they won't tell you about it when you order unless you ask. No big deal, though, just odd. read more

**SEVERE FOOD POISONING**On Saturday 3/23 my daughters had smoothies and shared a chicken Caesar Salad wrap at around 4 pm and at around 8 pm they started vomiting and had diarrhea. Severe food poisoning was confirmed at the ER, we were lucky to keep half of one of the smoothies for testing. I did a quick research online and found that back in 2016 many people got seriously ill after eating/drinking at this restaurant chain all across the US, many of them ended up with hepatitis A. Restaurants like this should close for good if they keep making people sick. read more

So I couldnt give it a full five stars because they are still working out their kinks, they opened not too long ago....definitely over a month now. (Its very obvious they are new staff in training still) The menu varies from other locations. So far I have had about 6 smoothies and a sandwich. The sandwich was tasty on really hearty bread. The smoothies are good. However, I have noticed recently that they are not telling people they have the option of splenda or turbinado sugar. ( I only knew because I had been to other locations.) I'm not a fan of sweet so I usually ask for little or no turbinado. My colleague loves this place; we like to get out of the building and this convienient since you can walk to it from our building we make it a point to stop at least 2 times a week. I definitely recommend giving it a shot. read more

Disgusting. Went with coworkers for lunch. Quesadillas were thrown together and pressed. Chicken was dry, onions were old and overly seasoned. Sides were chips, apples, or bananas. Tried this place again and this time they forgot to make my drink yet again. I sat there with my sandwich and saw several other people get their drinks and thought maybe mine just takes longer. I finally went up to the counter and had to show them my receipt even though i had been sitting there the entire time and it was an empty store aside from the five people that came in and ordered drinks to go. May 29th, 2019, the straw that broke the styrofoam smoothie cup. In recent months, I sacrificed quality for convenience by visiting this location. The majority of employees don't speak English, which wouldn't be problematic if they could just understand what I perceive to be a simple deviation from the recipes on the menu: no added sugar. Today, however; as I tried to explain to the employee that I didn't want any extra sugar in the smoothie from the menu, a woman seemingly walked off the street and stood herself behind the counter and started questioning the staff. As I stood there, she asked them questions about their day, whether or not they had been busy and suggesting the other employees contact her mother about going home early if they wanted, before finally turning to me. As it turned out, the original employee who had been helping me never actually entered anything into the POS system, so I reordered and specified that I did not want any sugar and that I would rather have the pea based protein over the whey. The lady, wearing no semblance of a uniform, couldn't have conveyed more easily that the complexity of my order was an inconvenience for her to type in, but she repeated my order to me and I verified that it was correct. The window asserts that 4-7 PM is happy hour for specific smoothies on the menu, one of which was in my order, unmodified and unadulterated, but she didn't give us this promotion, something I became aware of after checking the receipt at the end of all of this. After I got my smoothie, which had both the sugar syrup and whey protein in it, the only two things I wanted to modify, I sat down and waited for the other smoothie which was for my girlfriend. Three young women came in and approached the counter. The same employee, who I can only assume is the daughter of the manager or franchise owner, eyed them from behind the counter. A young man came in and she addressed him immediately, asking if he was ready to order. The young man asked the three women if they had already ordered, but before they could answer the employee in question barked that they were being indecisive and that he should go ahead and order. The three young women looked at each other with surprise, and the man went ahead and ordered. It was uncomfortable for everyone. Then the women ordered. His smoothie comes out, then two of theirs are prepared. At this point I get up and remind this employee that I was waiting for one additional smoothie, and she asks me to recite my order, as she had forgotten. All in the span of 10 minutes! I reminded her and another employee quickly produced my second smoothie. All of this was off-putting enough, but the coup de grâce was that I had witnessed one of the employees, wearing her latex gloves, massaging another employees shoulders and then continuing to prepare food without changing gloves. Gross! Health code violations and an unwarranted attitude from someone I couldn't tell even worked there has turned me off to revisiting this particular location. If driving to another city for a smoothie shields me from illness and disrespect, it is an easy choice for me. Avoid this location and avoid a headache. read more

I've been to this location before, and they were fine before, but it's gone down hill recently. I ordered a Bahama Mama with dark chocolate and I had a coupon for $3 off. They charged me $4.47 which doesn't seem right since their smoothie is $5.74. I questioned the cashier and she said it was because of taxes. No one here spoke English. Card wouldnt swipe, so I asked to manually punch it in. Kept on swiping about 7x. After having to pay in cash, I was charged for 2 drinks. I ordered a Kiwi Quencher w/ pineapples and lime. Came out with 2 drinks. Kiwi Quencher and pineapple/lime (separated) Ask for a refund which no one on site could issue. Had to call manager, and she just handed the Kiwi Quencher to me. At this point I have repeated pineapple and lime about 15x and they respond with manzana (apple). I so no manzana about 3x. They go back laughing and add pineapples but still no lime. (I'm seeing all this) She comes out with the same Kiwi Quencher with just pineapples thrown into it. I say wheres the lime and she obviously doesn't understand. She says just taste it, and I respond with "no bueno" She the just shrugs her shoulders. I dont mind the lack of English as much as the lack of professionalism and effort to correct their mistake. I believe both employees should be fired for laughing and making jokes about such a situation. Definitely do not recommend this specific location to anyone. read more

On top of that the "smoothies" were in liquid form as though they skipped throwing in even 1 ice cube. Person in front of me was waiting to be served while employee was counting money, she finally looked up and proceeded to laugh at him asking if she was waiting on her.... then told him to get in the other line. Here's a tip: never count money in front of the customers. When it was my tern to order I had to repeat my order twice because they weren't paying attention. I was never offered a side with my drink and food. I took it upon myself to grab a cookie. The cookie was beyond stale and about as hard as a dog treat.
