Rude staff. Overpriced slabs. The price increases if you show any excitement over the slab

We had an excellent experience with Tropical Stone. If you're looking for your countertop to be a statement piece, like we were, they have a huge, diverse selection, complete with staples like classic whites and also fantastic colors (and the price wasn't too bad, either!). We worked with Kim, who was great, very helpful and knowledgeable without being overbearing or trying to push something onto us that we didn't want. I can say that we looked at MANY granite and quartzite warehouses, but our desire for color was not matched in our budget until we came to Tropical. I am not sure I remember Angie's experience and details. As a fabricator, when my own warehouse stock does not have sufficient choices for a client, we refer them for a visit at Tropical Stone. 1) Tropical Stone has a wide variety of attractive, unusual stones that we have not seen elsewhere. When we recently remodeled our kitchen, we went there to find a countertop, based on the recommendation of our floor tile supplier. 2) The manager spent an hour and half walking with us past the items on display in the warehouse and explained the various pros and cons of the stones. We selected one stone for our countertop but later -- after receiving the floor tile that we were trying to match -- we went back and chose another stone instead. The manager spent more time helping us select the second stone and helped us make the swap without any disagreement. He also arranged to have the raw stone shipped to a local company to be cut, polished and installed. Everything worked out very well even though we had selected an unusual blueish-green Italian floor tile that was difficult to match. read more

Breadth of choice, unique products, exceptional service - that sums up our experience with Tropical. My wife and I visited virtually every supplier in the Philadelphia metro area - our experience at Tropical was on an entirely different level. First, the selection of marbles and granites is enormous. Then it's the uniqueness of the stones that just blew us away. Where in some showrooms we left trying to find one choice that grabbed us, at Tropical our initial list was 9, which we got down to 4, and then finally struggled to make our final choice, which is absolutely brilliant. A big reason why we had so many choices is the way that Tropical displays its stones - there is room to view them and they are staged in a way that you get a sense of what they can look like as a finished product. The General Manager knows more about stones than anyone we met and worked with us a true consultant, not just a supplier. We must have returned to the showroom a half-dozen times. Each time the Manager laid out for display multiple slabs of the stone we chose and spent the time with us to coordinate our selection with our new cabinets and floor. This was the kind of experience we really needed on this big home renovation that means so much to us. read more

I am not one to write reviews on businesses, but I really feel obligated to let others know about our negative experience at Tropical Stone. My husband and I were building a custom home with multiple areas that we wanted to put granite, marble and Onyx in. We have a large kitchen, butlers pantry, master bath and 5 other bathrooms.. We had a great relationship with an awesome local fabricator(ASCO, formerly known as Ameron in Exton). The fabricator sets up appointments with Tropical Stone so that you can pick out the slabs of stone you would like to select for your project. Needless to say we need to make several trips to Tropical Stone to make our selections, Just for the kitchen alone we needed 3 slabs of granite. Anyway, I had something very specific in mind that I wanted and did not see it on our first 2 trips to Tropical Stone. One our third visit they had some new inventory in that we thought may be close to what we wanted. Unfortunately those slabs of granite were hidden behind some other inventory they had just brought in. We decided that we would come back to see those once they were "unveiled". Long story short is when we tried to set up another appointment, our Fabricator told us that Tropical Stone refused to let us come back!! We made too many visits!! WOW, bad move. They missed out on a huge order. We ended up visiting Stonehendge(super nice staff!!) in Chester- found bathroom granite and also visited OHM in NJ. OHM was also awesome. Not only more pleasant but they had a WAY better selection. It was worth the drive. Needless to say Tropical Stone has lost tons of business. We also finished a large bar and Wine Cellar in our lower level and used Stonehenge and now we are selecting Granite for an outdoor kitchen(2 slabs). I also have many friends and relatives that have had projects that needed granite- I have told them to stay away from Trop Stone!!They listened read more
