This is the only tanning salon I will go to! The high pressure bed is amazing I love the glow it puts out when I tan in there! And it gives amazing results right away! They always have my favorite tanning lotion in stock! They have amazing deals about every single day! I love how I can get a uv tan one day and maybe try a spray tan the next!! This place is a rip off!! They charged me for the entire month, however, because I cancelled on the day my monthly EFT membership was to be charged they still took $82.50 and still wouldn't let me tan after that day! They took my money for the entire month of June and would not let me tan! They are thieves and the manager Ali is rude and ignorant! If they cancelled my membership the day it rolled over then they should have given my money back or honored services rendered and paid for, but refused! And the beds are filthy, the girls there don't clean, they are just worried about their next text, it's disgusting and unsanitary!!!! Hence why I was cancelling in the first place! Let me start off by saying my experience wasn't too terrible. It was my first time ever coming here. I know someone who actually works at this location. I was greeted by an employee who was on her cell phone, actually talking to someone on a call. It was clear that it wasn't another employee or a customer. The whole time I was filling out the paperwork she had her phone set down on the desk and occasionally picked it up to tell the person not to hang up. In my opinion, that was RUDE. Second off, I burn really easily. So I told her that I wanted to do a level two stand up. She told me that unfortunately they only have a level three stand up, but the lights were old and haven't been changed lately. So I said that was fine. I told her I wanted to go in for only 5 minutes... due to the fact that I burn easily. She then replied with "the machine is already set up for 8 minutes," which to me was telling me she didn't want to change it to 5 minutes. With a hesitant look on my face, she then said "you don't have to go in the whole time. You can step out if you get too hot or you feel yourself burn." So I said OK. I just wanted to be in and out. I bought the 5 for $20 and I really wish I hadn't. I also bought a sample lotion packet and a tattoo stick. So she brought me to the stand up tanning bed and she gave me the run down. Simple; not hard at all. But as soon as I closed the door, it was pitch black! I couldn't see a thing. So I stepped out and I asked her if there was a light in the booth and she took a look and there wasn't. So I had to put my lotion on, somewhat in the dark (I used the flashlight on my phone). And then I noticed there wasn't a mirror. That was the other issue. I wouldn't have cared for the mirror except I have tattoos on my back that I need to see in order to put the tattoo stick on. So that was something else that made me upset. The tan was fine. Some of the lights were starting to go out like she had told me. I just felt like my whole experience was bad except for the fact that the girl who worked there was friendly. I have seen your Facebook page and I notice you had 5 stars. I don't know what happened, but I guess I came on a bad day. And I think a lot of the people writing reviews use tanning beds rather than stand up. Signed up for the high pressure membership with Gabby (she's supper nice). Gabby explained everything in detail about membership perks etc. OMG the beds are by far the best!! Supper clean mints baby wipes lotion etc in every room bathroom . The Versa machine was cleaner then any salon I've seen in the past 10 years! You really get your bang for your buck compared to other salons. You can feel the high pressure beds bulbs are fresh plus the size of the rooms are huge so used to small tight spaces rooms ! I have previously came here and liked it, as to why I was a returning customer . Well after the customer service I received today I will never be back and just wanted to warn others of the situation. I asked to do the level 6 (first off ok, my fault I thought that was the level of the p90) the one if you look in the system is the one I have done the past few times. She tells me the room and I was confused because it was not the p90, it was the level 6. I said oh I meant to do the other one. She said that was a high pressure bed. Ok cool no problem I have no problem with paying more . She said to upgrade it would be an additional 16.50..... I already paid 16.50 for the 6, which I had not used and the "high pressure" was 20$ plus tax . How in the world does that make sense to pay $33 dollars for a $22 bed ? She said the best option is to buy a new session.... it's 2018 you should be able to do a refund for an incorrect transaction and process the correct one . Or have me pay the additional $5.50 to do the correct bed . She honestly did not seem to care and said "I can text my manager but he will say the same thing"... I've worked in customer service and I've worked in a tanning salon and I would never behave the way she did. I am just honestly shocked at how the situation was handled . I even asked "so if there's a wrong transaction there's nothing to do about it?" She stated unfortunately yes , the system doesn't allow it....... okay....I was NOT asking for a freebie I was legit just asking to pay the correct price for he bed I thought I meant to do. Oh well just beware before you pay here that you legit know exactly what bed you mean because god forbid you don't know the correct name and it will be the customers fault and there's nothing they will even try to do to fix the situation..... side note she didn't ask for my eyewear. Maybe if you're going to be so strict you should abide by the the state laws of asking to see required eye protection. read more

I've been searching for a good spray tan ever since moving away from Sun Tan City. I heard about this place from a friend, I had always passed by a lil skeptical, but she is a loyal weekly spray tanner so I thought I'd give it a shot. They have the option of a personal spray tan where they do it themselves or a VersaSpa, ya girl obviously opted for the privacy of a booth. I liked it because they use VersaSpa at Sun Tan City so it was familiar to me and I already knew the drill of how to go about it. I was hoping they'd have the option of clear spray that gradually gets darker but the tinted ended up turning out nice- overall a good spray tan, not orange at all just a nice brown color. I got level 2 which is a medium shade which is recommended unless your already a tanner. BONUS inside the booth they had, extra hair ties, baby wipes, and mints- they treat ya right at tropical tan. The price was decent too, only $25!!! Will be going back. read more

I usually go to the Grayslake location but I was running tight on time. I saw that they had a Palatine location. So excited!!! I am a big fan of this place. It is always spotless and has very high quality beds at an affordable price. They offer different deals everyday which are all reasonable and exciting for customers. This place is cheaper than almost any other high quality place in Palatine (LA TAN /Suntan Studio) and the hours are very accommodating to all schedules. The workers aren't pushy about packages or lotions either so if you just want one tan they don't make you feel awkward or guilty. I have also never had to wait for a bed which is a huge time saver! read more

I went in today and tried the p90...... omg the nicest tanning bed I have ever been in (and I am a tanning veteran) I HIGHLY recommend trying it! The girls working were both very nice! Used yelp check in coupon. Unorganized check in process due to system issue. Thats fine that system has to boot but pay attention to people leaving and coming in. I waited patiently whole time (already filled out registration card) and then when things worked, I was one of the last people and didn't leave. Since I was new; I was told not to go first to a room. Registering me was quick but I guess it's better to put value on existing and paying people. Who cares about making a positive experience and creating rapport with new people? My problem is I was given a poor explanation of the tanning beds and then I choose the pressurized one Because it was open. I was warned it may have some issues with start button but to call over or go over to front desk if issue. She said she was also going to bring me a towel. That didn't happen. Fine. My issue was then I did indeed have trouble starting the machine. So what am I to do then besides try pressing buttons as I obviously can't step out of the room with no towel etc? Smdh. The pressurized standing bed did nothing for me but that's not my issue. Half-a**ed customer service tbh. Maybe it's cause I had a free tan and not a paying customer? I recently scheduled an appointment for a custom airbrush tan at Tropical Tan in Palatine the night before my vacation. I called a week in advance to schedule my appointment. I arrived on time and said that I had an appointment and what I was there for, I was told to "hold on" while the employee helped walk in customers. 20 minutes later when she finally got to me, I was informed that I couldn't get the custom air brush tan I was scheduled for because the manager wasn't there. I understand things come up and schedules change, but I should have received a phone call before arriving for my appointment to let me know they weren't going to be able to do it. That is very basic customer service. Their solution was to let me use the spray tan machine for free. No matter how you stand in those machines, it's impossible to get an even application. So I went on vacation with overly orange ankles and hands due to the uneven spray and spent the next couple of days scrubbing off the tan. Not only did I get a bad spray tan, I didn't get the service I was willing to pay for, and they wasted my time. I will not be returning and I wouldn't consider referring anyone. read more

Started off here the beginning of the summer, the staff was great, friendly, cool and just offered a great environment. Recently, the staff is rude and never makes eye contact. Coming into the salon i feel awkward and not welcoming at all. Girls are always on their phones, talking on the phone, paying more attention to their electronics than the customers satisfaction. Prices are decent but definitely not worth the sassy attitudes greeted by the employees. The beds have finger prints on them majority of the time i come in now which question if the beds have been cleaned or not and if the health department should be contacted, i use the wipes to clean my own bed which as a customer i should not be doing what so ever. Not sure if this salon has switched staff or decided a newer or cheaper form of training but my experience has definitely took a turn for the worst. All employees are now trained to give custom spray tans, however that does not make up for the loss in customer satisfaction and cleanliness of the salon. Hoping this gets fixed before i decide to switch salons soon. read more

LOVE this salon, I have never tanned here before but I did go in and the place was awesome, and very clean! Love'd all the new kinds of beds they have over there, and all of the different lotions they have. But the staff is not as good as the tanning beds. They are very rude, I asked them to show me around the place, and I seemed like a bother to them and they were annoyed they had to get off there phone. I just wanted to see the place because i bought a package or anything! Not sure if two people are suppose to be working at a time or not? But there was 2+ people behind the counter and they seemed more like friends than anything, it was awkward to say the least. Also something very strange and not sure if it's okay to say this on Yelp.. but smelled like marijuana in there. Not sure if there was a skunk around the salon late at night or what.
