Of the three tropical tans I visited last week, this was my least favorite. I loved the front desk guy, I didn't catch his name. He was personable and friendly. I misunderstood what I was buying and thought I was doing a buy one tan, get one free, but it turns out that wasn't the case. No big deal. Five stars for customer service. The three stars is for how dated it is and inconsistent hours. The bed was taped in places and the room was tiny. A lot to be desired bed wise, but I only tried the second to best level. Maybe if I had gone to the highest level, the beds would be nicer. I went one day at 11 am and it wasn't open. Found out from another location that this is not a first time problem with this location. read more

I've been coming here for a while, over 2 years. And I just recently visited Edmonds location, and one other and it blew me out of the water! Their customer service vs shoreline was 10 stars Shoreline is extremely inconsistent with their times of closing. And their staff can be super rude and slightly condescending, definitely not fans of "the customer is always right" which is t always true, but they should at least always be listened to and validated. A simple tanning spot with the best plan I've found. The staff can be hit of miss as some of them are very knowledgeable about the difference between beds and which one to get the best color and then others don't know why you should even use lotion. The price of the lotion is so expensive but if you wait you can find some deals on things that wont break the bank every time you need new lotion. The two large negatives is that staff openly talk about the very questionable things while working ranging from band mouthing other staff to waaay to person. The bed are loud and most people listen to music but if you don't you can still hear EVERYTHING. The second negative is their bathroom. NO HOT WATER. NONE. and the soap always is out or the pump is broken so good luck washing any lotion off your hands. read more

However, I believe it is unfair to be charging your clients for their membership of April when the salons are closed for the entire month of April due to corona virus. Okay this blonde girl I didn't get her name helped me a lot I had never tanned before and she walked me through everything! She seemed very experienced and I trusted her judgment completely. I wish I knew her name. I felt very taken care of, I was kind of nervous and she said don't worry "come on in and I'll take care of you" over the phone. She was fun and bubbly. Now I go to several places but this is my home location and has been for over 20 years I love the owner and the store I love the people there the ambience is great the staff is friendly the prices are reasonable parking is always easy there is always availability but it does get harder in the summer appointments maybe necessary in the summer but usually not this location is very clean and they have a great variety of lotions I also like to utilize the red light bed which is great for aging scars an acne if you're going to tan anywhere I suggest you try one of their several locations unfortunately there are none on the east side but it's definitely worth the drive if you're in the area read more

SERIOUS HEALTH HAZZARD! I signed up in May 2017, I thought it was pretty dirty however after my month ended, I chose to sign back up. Please refer to photos as this is THE most unsanitary tanning salon that I have ever been to. The health Dept has been notified. As you will see from the photos there is about 1/2 inch of nasty dirt caked on the fan that is there to cool you as well as the ventilation fans on the actual bed. There is dirt on the floor in room 11 that was there back in May, the bed itself in room 2 is nearly destroyed by people using regular tanning lotion. This bed is severely shattered and they still use it. The caked on filth in The crease of the red light bed is beyond disgusting. C'mon people this is a lawsuit just waiting to happen!!! read more

Haven't been tanning in awhile and came here based on a referral. Love that it's an auto debit ONLY and you don't have to buy additional tans that deduct each time you tan as other places do things. I've been tanning here for only a short time. I think the girls I've encountered so far are super sweet and nice. The bed I use all the time is super and I'm loving the tan I'm getting... I haven't had to deal with canceling yet, so I can't speak about how that goes as far as continuing to be charged as some reviewers have. I was told that you can cancel after 3 months so my final review will come after that (as I'm tanning for an upcoming event so I more than likely will not continue tan year round, but again we shall see). My only real 'annoyance' so far is that I was told I was signing up for a package that is "$49.99" plus a one time $10 start up fee, so I paid the start up fee and got going with my tanning... However this past month I was charged $59 against my account - not sure how there is $10/month extra in taxes. If there is that's fine, but wish they would have told me that in reality my monthly charge was going to be $59, not $49. That's why I give them a 3 star instead of 4. Nice place to tan - nice staff - clearly not completely up front about charges :-/ read more

You guys know people come here to relax? kids running up and down this place! it's not a playhouse and how was bed 8 "out of order" for a few days only when a certain person was working also same days I would hear and she children running around. she didn't check to see if it was working when i said something she just sat in her chair. The towels are filthy! They water down their soap which is absolutely disgusting in a time like this. Do you think I wanna bring my own soap in every-time!? ...and the "decorations" only made things more BLAND they don't even match. I miss Nathan :(! read more

This location is one of the best, the staff are always super helpful and sweet about everything. They are always making sure us customers walk out satisfied every single visit. The salon is always kept in good shape, very clean and organized. Most rooms also have a radio that works, as well as chairs in every room. The only reason this place has good reviews is because they had a contest for staff rewards and "A Google User" posted several reviews 5 years ago.The staff is great. The owners are crooked. When they say that a bed has new bulbs, what they really mean is half of the bed has new bulbs...like just the top half. They also over charge and when you want to cancel they charge you a whole extra month. This month my automatic withdrawal came out with a $20 fee added on. They said my bank refused the first attempt which isn't true. Their computer glitched and now I'm supposed to go get a letter from my bank saying the money was in there. I pay $175 a month for 3 of us. I've been going here for years and now they will lose this over a $20 fee that was their mistake in the first place. Save your sanity and go somewhere else! read more

I had never been to Tropical Tan before, and was a little bit weary. My experience at other tanning salons has not been that great. I don't like how the staff can be a little pushy as far as sales, and not really attentive when you need something. This Tropical Tan was definitely an exception. The staff was really friendly and let me take my time deciding on a package and on a lotion. Everything was easy as far as explaining how the pricing went, starting to bed. Everyone here has been really helpful and friendly. I have sensitive skin and usually end up burning, despite me telling people at other places that I burn easy, but not here. I have been going to Tropical Tan ever since 1996. If you are a pug owner/lovah like myself you will appreciate seeing the owner Dan in there with his adorable troop of pugs. The staff is friendly, helpful and best of all consistant. The manager has been there for years and is just darling. The only complaint I had ever had was the location being on busy hwy 99, since they have relocated to their new location in the Central Market Strip mall it is way easier and comfortable to park. I worked here when it was Midnight Sun, years ago before I moved to a different job. I've always loved the salon layout, but since Tropical Tan bought it out it has only gotten better. When Midnight Sun closed down I came in because I still had multiple tans on my account, Ashlee was great and honored them for me! They always have a great selection of lotions, and will try to find a way to give you a good deal on packages and products. For some, a little pricey, even for me. I used to not have to pay to tan, so having to pay for it now, kills me! Great location, great staff, and good beds! If you need your dose of vitamin D, give this place a try! read more

At first, this tanning salon, was premiere considering Seattle's options, but after being a member for almost a year, they began charging my bank more and on two separate occasions, actually withdrew money from my account and denied it. Been tanning here for several years (over 10) I must say all stores are not ran under the same management so some are more dependable then others when it comes to bulb changes, turnover or lack there of. For the last 3 months I have asked the Kenmore store to replace the three missing bulbs in the stand up. They have failed to get this done causing me great to have to go out of my way to drive to another location 5 miles away in Shoreline. The girls in Kenmore are very nice but maintained if bulbs in that store gets a 1 star. My tanning has decreased because of the inconvenience I have to drive to another location. Now the Shoreline store is always great with customer service very clean always stocked with the latest new lotions and they maintain there bulbs and replace frequently. So out of the several locations I would say visit Shoreline if you want dependability. I have been to several other stores that are okay but the Shoreline store by central market holds the highest standards. read more

I went in due to closeness to my house and my Groupon was over at the Desert Sun, that was too far away anyway. My boyfriend decided he wanted to treat me to the 3 month 49.99 V.I.P. package special. The girls were very informative and helpful. It's a great for unlimited everything. They have all the beds you could want. The only issue I have is we present paid cash for the 3 months, and also had to leave a credit card on file. Well since I came in on the 2nd of February, and wanted to tan right away using the package, I was required to pay the normal 79.99$ VIP price, Cuz the system is set up for only allowing it to start on the 1st of the month. Wasn't very happy with paying full price for a special I signed up for 1 day after the 1st. Doesn't make sense really. I love using the red light, it's my first time. Spray tanning and the Ultra bed. It's very clean. The employees are helpful and nice. I'm very glad I came in. read more

March 15th, 2014 I went to visit Tropical Tan and asked about their special of $20 coupon for regularly priced services. I asked about Red light therapy, and the employee offered me the same special which was 3 months for $90.00 from my previous order. I did not request the special pricing the employee honored it without me asking her for this special price. Ashley called me and mentioned the Red light therapy is not available for $90.00. Ashley said it was my fault for getting this price and did not ask the employee for that price and only asked about the $20.00 coupon. Ashley continued to be rude, not professional and controlling behavior. I asked for the owner's name, and she said she was the owner and the Manager, and I cannot discuss this with the owner and hung up on me. She called me then hung up on me, very professional. You lost a great customer and have heard many complaints about Ashley and customers will not use the services when Ashley is working. Maybe you should think about getting someone that likes people and have an excellent record of customer service. She lied to me, and I am sure to other customers and not a good advice to have a Manager hang up on customers and be rude. read more

I've always been impressed with Tropical Tan's excellent products, reasonable prices, and great customer service. Unfortunately, this location is the exception to that rule. I've been using the red light bed at this location every day for the last two weeks. I always take the first appointment in the morning. They open at 9 and the first appointment is 9:15. Every time I've used this bed, 6 bulbs have been out. I mentioned this to the woman at the front desk, who was on a personal phone call during our entire conversation. She told me that I was wrong. She said "I just did a bulb check last week and there were absolutely NO bulbs out. Well, maybe one bulb. Some times when the bed is cold, they don't all fire, unless we do a 'warm-up' session in the morning." I asked her if she could please do a warm-up session on that bed so that all the bulbs would be working for my next appointment. She responded, "Well, I won't have time to do that because you want to come in at 9:15." I replied "If you arrive at 9 and my appointment isn't until 9:15, wouldn't you be able to do a warm-up session between 9 and 9:15?" She told me "No, we only do warm-up sessions in the off-season because otherwise it gets too hot in here." I certainly can't follow her logic. It seems to me that since it has been 55 degrees and raining for the last few weeks, a warm up session would not raise the temperature of the salon to a dangerous level. This is especially true since people use the beds all day. I can't see how one extra session would hurt. I left this location feeling like I wasn't getting what I paid for. I also felt unwelcome. I have worked in customer service so I understand how difficult it can be to deal with customers. Because of this, I always try to be polite and understanding. I think that this one employee just doesn't understand how to meet customer needs. All of the other employees I've talked to have been great. I e-mailed the company about this problem, but have not gotten a response. Needless to say, I will no longer be visiting this location. read more

If you want a great tan and HORRIBLE customer service come visit this tropical tan location! I've recently moved in the area and have been coming to this location for a little over a month and can honestly say that the service is just poor. I've been a long time customer to other tropical tan locations and the service was always great! Almost every time I've walked in the girl at the front doesn't even make eye contact. She's glued to her phone or busy putting her make up on. I understand it's a tanning salon not Westin, but when I pay almost $90 for a month of tanning you can at least be polite to paying customers. Not all over the girls are rude, I think there is ONE nice lady. Lol. They also have a super cute pug that is there from time to time, but the one nice girl and the pug isn't enough for me to keep giving this place my business. Shoreline Tropical Tan. Asked to have my account froze with the $5 dollar fee instead of the $72. Well that didn't happen they charged me the $72. I have been calling "customer service" and you get a recording saying leave a message we will get back to you. Guess what they don't get back to you at all so I called back to the tanning salon she tells me oh they have 48 to 72 hours before they get back to you?! WTF! They took my money and can't get them to process it getting it back to my account that long......I'm going to the bank and telling them it was a fraudulent charge. I wont be going back and stopping all charges to my account. read more
