Julie! My friend! Wonder Nails is located right behind my house. When I call to make an appointment it as if I'm talking to my friend. She knows what I need even before I tell her. When I go in I'm welcomed right away! It's such a pleasant atmosphere and kind place and VERY accommodating. My favorite nail place! Still a great deal for a pedicure or a manicure, I only come here for the pedicure because I suppose a lot of men like me have trouble reaching their feet or doing the job right so I just paid Julie and she does a fantastic job of cleaning and scrubbing and getting all that debriding done. A lot of ladies come here and she and Danny do a great job with the fingernails while I sit there and watch from my comfortable foot pool. They generally don't take walk-ins so it's better to call and they are not open on Sundays and the best hours are to come in 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. although they do close at 7:00 they are counting the time from when they start so it's doubtful they would take you right and like 6:45. Free Wi-Fi to and cozy music and pretty scenes on the TV. read more

JUST AMAZING !!! I wish there were more stars honestly!!!Amazing costumer service!! Danny and Julie not only made me feel pretty cause my nails turned out amazing and so beautiful but helped me because I got my nails done at another place which did a horrible job and were lifting after 2 days, they could see I was upset about them and fit me in as quickly as they could. I can't wait to come back and Im so happy to find a place I'm confident I will get great nails everytime . read more

Julie, her mom Lyly ("leelee") and Julie's hubby all perform wonders. I am not often able to afford mani-pedi assistance, but when I can it's practically all-around a cuticle emergency! I have had great experiences with uv gel nails, acrylic nails, gel polish, and lately just the standard mani-pedi with clear polish. Tip- the citrus foot/leg scrub smells amazing, the massaging chairs are the best I have ever used, and the hot rock massages are heavenly. (They also don't charge as much as they are worth, it's a screaming deal... so much so that if you go anytime but a workday Monday-Tuesday, plan on making appointments or waiting a long time.) read more

I've driven past this nail salon a million times and never noticed it. I'd never have ended up here if it weren't for Lily. Lily has been doing my nails for the past two years and she just switched to this salon. It's big, spacious & air conditioned. It's a bit more pricey than my previous salon but you do get a LOT! Comfy spa chairs, a sugar scrub, hot stone foot & leg massage (can I say heavenly!!), TV, a comfy waiting area with leather chairs & a relaxing fountain. It's $25 for a pedicure & I can't say enough good stuff about Lilly. Another perk is that they are open 7 days a week & open till 7pm, and they have a parking lot. For those who use credit card, just want to give you a heads up that the is a minimum purchase of $20. The only thing I wished is that for the days that you're in a rush & don't want to be pampered, that they had a cheaper pedi without the scrub & hot stone. But other than that, I really love this place! The owners obviously put a lot of effort into making it nice & you feel like you are pampered while you are there. Very serene and calming. read more

This is a follow up to my visit 2 days ago... The edge of my big toe that ended up bleeding during my pedicure is INFECTED AND PAINFUL two days after!!! literally The WORST customer care I've ever experienced in a nail salon. i waited 1 HOUR for a nail clip fix - they wanted to refuse replacing the nail and instead file it down where the chip would have remained and not been fixed at all. after asking many times for one replacement acrylic, they made me wait a whole hour to get to me! ontop of the wait, the male owner yelled at me infromt of a room full of customers telling me what i can and cannot do. WOULD THINK TWICE BEFORE MAKING APPOINTMENT. cheaper places who do a better quality job, too! WAY OVER PRICED read more

I've been here several times now and have never had a bad experience at the salon. It's definitely not the most fancy nail salon and the massage chairs don't look super expensive but I think the magic is in the staff members. I have been here and have had my nails done by various staff members and have not had any issues with lifting or chipping for my shellac nails. I have tried other salons in the Northgate area and have never been as satisfied with the outcome of my nails as I have been when I come here. They take their time and I have never felt rushed. My cuticles look awesome and they really put the attention into making sure the nail polish is applied perfectly. I often leave other salons and end up discovering little specs of dust or lint under my manicure and it totally drives me crazy . This has never happened in the 5+ times I have been to Chicago nails. I would totally call this place a hidden gem. Cost for shellac as of Jan 2018 is 28$. (It used to be $25.) read more

Such stupid place , so I came here today get my pedicure with take off gel !this woman filed my nail like paper and when she clean the side of my toes it was so hurt ! But she said "then I can't clean it " I was so mad and going to pay just take off gel. I asked owner how much for it , he gave me ugly face said $15 ! I was able to get a mani/pedi with short notice and had a great experience with the ladies. Not only were they efficient, bit they were friendly and was able ti get me in and out in 45 minutes. Clean establishment and easy to find. I got a shellac pedi and was given hundreds of color options. My toes and feet feel feel great and I was very pleased with the results. I definitely recommend and would be back next time I'm in the area. read more

This was my first time at wonder nails. I called to see if they can fit me in for a fill. I was only 5 minutes away so they were able to squeeze me in. At first they told me they can only do a simple color because of how booked they were. Thankfully the next appointment didn't show up so they were able to do the design I really wanted. I wanted Instagram worthy coffin ombré acrylic nails, and the man who did them KILLED IT. They are perfectly flush at the cuticle and expertly shaped, which I find a lot of nail salons in Seattle fail at. I showed him a picture & he did them perfectly! Also really inexpensive considering they're an interesting design. I also got a pedicure and it was great! A sugar scrub AND hot stones. Nice massage chairs, tv to watch & clean atmosphere. Will definitely return for a fill! ***UPDATE: I went back in for a fill after a month and the same man did an AMAZING job. So smooth and perfect, great attention to detail, but still fast. He's a true artist that understands reshaping. Also, not a single nail had lifted in that month & I'm really rough in my nails. Every other salon they lift after 2 or 3 weeks. I had an exceptional time here today!! I have only been to a nail salon one other time and it was to this same place!! That took such great care of me and are very flexible. Unfortunately while I was getting my nails done, a potentially drunk woman who was super entitled came in and just started yelling at the owners. Average service but be careful they overcharge! I got a gel fill, and toe nail polish change with design on big toe (no pedicure) and eyebrow wax and they charged me $82!! Normally should be $25-30 for nails, $10 for eyebrow wax, $20 for color change on toes plus design.. Total should've been $60 NOT $82. The owner was so disrespectful to me, changing the price the more I tried to reason with him. He first said 80 then 82 so I just paid him afraid he would keep raising the price. ITS LOCATED RIGHT ON THE "TRACK" (prostitution area) AND STRIP CLUB ACROSS THE PARKING LOT. Females be careful in this area alone. I'm never going BACK. One of the most unpleasant experiences I ever paid for. I've worked in customer service for many years and tried handling this with as much grace as I could, because I refuse to be "that Karen." I've been coming here for years and finally decided enough is enough. Not sure why I gave them my business when they're often rude, abrasive, and somewhat combative about how you'd like your nails done. I'm low maintenance so never ask for anything too difficult. Although their shop was empty while we were there today, it was a very hurried, an almost frenzied experience with the lady passive aggressively slamming things around on her work station. She was very rough and cut my cuticles many times. She made me bleed a few times and kept pouring some weird blue antiseptic over the wounds. It stung so much that I felt nauseous and her slamming things around made it all the more unbearable. I finally said something about it...calmy...and respectfully. "Hey, I don't know if you're having a bad day, but you're really hurting me." Instead of being receptive to her client's feedback she flipped out and started yelling. The man that works there came out of the back room and they both began yelling at me about how they didn't deserve to be treated this way...**really**...my toes were bleeding and stinging from antiseptic. They screamed at us to never come back and that they were refusing to finish my daughter's nails. I paid them and tipped them anyway. I work hard and am on my feet for 9 hours a day earning an honest living. This was supposed to be a much needed self care day for my tired, aching feet, but it was anything but that. Actually feeling a little traumatized by the experience, but hey, I'm a big girl and I can choose to take my business elsewhere...and you should too. Please support a local small business that treats you with respect and kindness. Life is too short to spend your money at an establishment that treats you like cr@p. I still just can't wrap my brain about what happened at this place today. read more

I popped in on a whim on Saturday afternoon without an appointment and was told they could see me but it would be a wait. They had two people in front of me but I didn't mind waiting since I had a free afternoon. I suggest an appointment if you're going in on a weekend or if you have time constraints. Julie did a great job on my nails! I got an SNS full set with regular polish. She didn't trim/cut my cuticles, which I appreciated, and she worked quickly and efficiently. read more

I love this salon for my nails! I went for the first time over two weeks ago. My shellac manicure held up nicely the entire time- through typing, gardening, washing dishes and daily wear and tear. I went back again today for a shellac manicure with ombré gold glitter on my nails. They turned out beautifully! Julie worked on my nails both times. Her staff is friendly and efficient. Hot stone foot massage?! I think yes!!!! My friend told me about this nail salon, and I'm so glad she did. I met the owner, and he was so welcoming. The quality of their work is great. I get my pedicures here from time to time, and I always walk out with happy smooth feet. I love how well they actually clean your nails, and cut the cuticles without making you bleed like some salons do... The hot stone foot massage is a great addition to the pedicure. Update. 1/2/17 - I've been here a few times and received great service. The older lady is not gentle and dug into my cuticles and made them bleed. Today my big toe is sore and infected. Stay away from her. All the younger ladies are very good. read more

Why is it so hard to get a decent manicure? Started out decent though I'm not convinced they sanitize tools in between people... Color went on nicely until she put on a sloppy top coat. Down the center but missed both sides of just about every nail. Beside looking tacky, it also tends to lead to discoloration between the two layers within a week. Polish also dried with bubbles on several nails to which she responded "why didn't you tell me sooner." Well, bubbles rise as they DRY. I asked for a fix and she painted another top coat which did nothing for the bubbles. I asked her to repaint just the worst nail of the three (I just wanted to leave) which she pushed back on and then only gave me one coat. read more

I have been here about 5 times now. The first time was good until Lily didn't pay attention for a moment and slit my thumb skin open while filing. It definitely stung for a while. :( Despite that, I gave them another chance because of the care she took before that point. And four times later, I have been very impressed with both Lily and Julie's extreme attention to detail. THIS is the reason I will continue to go back and tell others. If they keep up the level of attentiveness and detail, this place will be my go-to! I recommend this place! read more

Bad customer service. Poor quality. My nails were not even. And when I pointed it out my hand was rudely grabbed back and I was told I'm difficult today. My French tips were poorly done and uneven. I didn't have time to stay for fixes and didn't want to deal with their poor unprofessional attitudes any longer. I don't suggest them for anything other than a solid coat. Also the are not very clean. I didn't see anyone wash their hands as they jumped around from different people. They used a duster to clean the station before sitting me. I don't have time to go else where today. But I won't ever return after this shit show. read more

Today was my first time at Chicago Nails, and I was nothing more than happy!! The workers were very friendly...nothing like in the last review. They even let me pay below the minimum ($20 with card) because I was new and didn't know. I got a basic fill with a very pretty polish. The guy doing my nails did a perfect almond shape. Prices here are very reasonable. You won't be disappointed :) read more

I felt so safe and she really created an atmosphere where I was able to fully surrender and relax; you can just tell you're going to be take care of. It was so healing. I wish this would have been double checked prior to being used on me because even if it's probably fine only happening once and (hopefully) it wasn't in a high dosage.. but was unable to confirm this - it still caused me immense anxiety that I really wish was avoided. I washed it off and emailed my doctor. But I still feel awful and wish more precaution was taken. This was my first facial since becoming pregnant (almost 27 weeks now) and I was really looking forward to it and thought I'd be safe here. Unfortunately I didn't feel safe and I wish I never came now. They don't have pregnancy pillows to accommodate pregnant individuals either. I'd go elsewhere if you're expecting but otherwise they usually do a great job... pretty disappointed this happened to me though /:

However, I'm sad to write about my second experience :( I was hoping to get Kathy again but I was paired with another nail technician. I'm hoping it was just "a bad day" for her but the moment I walked in, the energy was heavy and even a bit aggressive lol. I've never felt so tense throughout the entire session, which I was hoping to be relaxing. She made comments as to why I had long nails before and told me never to do that "hard gel". I've also never got my nails dunked in a bowl of acetone before. It's usually wrapped so the smell isn't overwhelming? I've went back and forth about whether or not to write this review since I'm usually one to promote businesses! I am hoping it was just a bad day but I fear I won't be back as the energy of this particular tech was a lot/she seemed unhappy... I wish I could say it was good work but my nails and polish didn't even last a week, even with GEL!! :( Two nails broke and the paint peeled off. I was sad because this was my birthday nails lol. Hopefully that was just a bad day and it's not their baseline. Sadly I'm still on the hunt for a nail salon lol.
