Had a great lunch at Tropical Tastebuds. The place is small but quint a family owned restaurant. Everything is made fresh daily. The lady in the front was awesome and super friendly. We ordered a chicken soup, a tuna salad, and a pasta. Everything was delicious and fresh. They did not disappoint on the taste and freshness. Be sure to check them out, you won't be disappointed.

This place is great. I love the food here. Your going to get a good quality meal for a reasonable price! I love that I could order my food and it be ready on time.

Jerk Chicken with steam vegetable and avocado.

So I took a real late lunch the other day and was trying to find a place to get something to eat. You know what I did ... whipped out my handy dandy Yelp app. Have you ever had that feeling where you're tired of eating the same thing over and over. Today was one of those days. Everything people suggested, I didn't want. But like I said thanks to the yelp app I was able to search for a different kind of place. So now on to this place; it's a real "take out" place. It literally had one table and two chairs. When I was there, someone was already at that table. So looking at the menu I decided to do the lunch special, Jerk Chicken. There was another person there ordering, before I did so you can imagine after I place my order since there was no extra chair to sit so I was just standing there. But the cool part about it was that my order didn't take long even though to me everything was made fresh. The Food though obviously was the best part. I had the jerk chicken and steam vegetables (trying to be healthy here) and a side of avocado. This was probably the best steam cabbage and vegetable I ever had from a Caribbean restaurant. I've been to a couple and you could tell it was probably frozen vegetable, but not this place. The Jerk chicken was good I'm not yet ready to say the best but it was good. And the Avocado (was just an avocado) come on you can't get that wrong your just getting it from the tree. But also I'm pretty sure I'll be back to try their fresh fruits. Overall this place is really good and will defiantly be back to try more stuff on the menu.

Food was hot and came out quick. Problem was it wasn't very tasty. It's a quick take out only location.

Mediocre Jamaican patties not very memorable for me personally. Swift service and take out style, standing room only, no seating available

It's located inside a nearby mall, which turned out to be high-end and really beautiful. We grabbed an Uber and headed over. The food absolutely hit the spot. We ordered three bowls with jerk chicken and rice and another bowl with curry chicken and spicy rice. Everything was fantastic and the portions were generous--definitely worth the price. When we ordered they had just served their last portion of oxtail, which was a bit of a bummer because that's what I originally wanted. But while we were eating, I noticed the line never stopped and the server was constantly plating food. That's always a great sign that a place is doing something right. They actually did replenish the oxtail shortly after... but by then we were already full. We also grabbed a rum cake and it was a 1000 out of 10. Must try! The only downside is that it's located inside the mall. It would be amazing to experience the full vibe in a standalone restaurant setting with maybe an even larger menu. But clearly they're doing something right because the line never stopped the entire time we were there. Highly recommend!

One thing that will always frustrate me is bad customer service, especially at a Black-owned…read moreestablishment where Caribbean people go specifically to support one another. At 3:07 PM, I called and spoke with a woman to place a pickup order: one fried fish and one oxtail with rice and peas and plantains. I was told plantains are not served until 5 PM, so I said that was fine and switched the side to steamed vegetables. She clarified it would be steamed cabbage, and I agreed. I then asked my father to pick up the food. He arrived at 3:39 PM, more than 30 minutes later, and the staff acted as though they had no idea what he was talking about. He called me asking if I had actually placed the order because they were telling him they didn't have it. I asked him to put me on speaker so I could speak with them. When I asked the woman why the order wasn't ready after being placed over 30 minutes earlier, she rudely replied, "Well you didn't talk to me. I don't answer phones." Excuse me? I don't know your internal process, but I do know I called and spoke with someone for about two minutes placing that order. I certainly didn't imagine it. I initially told my father to just leave, but since he was already there he asked them to make the order. I repeated the order to the woman and the call ended. I then called back and got the same woman again, as I recognized her voice. I explained the situation and she sighed deeply before saying, "Let me see because I'm here now." She put the phone down, I heard rummaging in the background, and then she came back and said, "He already placed the order." Ma'am, that was not what I asked. The question was why the order was never placed and ready for pickup when I called it in over 30 minutes earlier. Her response was simply, "Oh well I don't know, but the order is made now." At that point I told her I would be leaving a review. If I could leave zero stars for service, I would. The only reason this review is getting two star is because the food actually tastes good and they're a Caribbean restaurant. However, customer service matters. Being rude and dismissive when a customer politely asks about their order is completely unnecessary. A simple acknowledgment or accountability would have prevented this entire situation. My favorite Jamaican restaurant, Maam Jamaican Restaurant on Ives Dairy, closed and I was really sad about it. I also really miss the sweet oxtail flavor they used to have. I've been craving oxtails, and since they're closed and I wouldn't be cheating on them anymore, so I decided to give this place a try. Unfortunately, the seasoning wasn't too good on either dish, but the food was very fresh. Unfortunately, I will not be returning nor recommending this restaurant, and I will also be sharing this experience on other platforms.

I was initially told by the woman at the counter to wait for cabbage after she went to the back to confirm only to find out later that there was none coming. Customer service was average at best. When I expressed my frustration, they brushed it off, saying the sides are "free," so it supposedly doesn't matter if they're unavailable. But here's the thing I would've ordered a larger plate had I known sides weren't an option. When I said that, the employee told me the large just comes with "one to two more pieces of meat and extra rice" for a higher price which honestly felt like a scam. To top it off, another customer chimed in saying this happens all the time they always run out of sides, even with their overpriced meals. Yet, they still charge you full price for a partial meal. That's unacceptable. Between the lack of transparency, poor customer service, sketchy building setup, and over $20 wasted, I can confidently say I won't be returning. Save your time and money.

I ordered the Boulette(Haitian meatballs) which was my first time trying it actually, and it was literally the best food I've ever had!! It was so flavorful and delicious my taste buds didn't know what just happened. It wasn't crumbly and the structure held up well. Pair it with the chicken gravy that's provided and I promise you won't regret it. I also got Diri Jon Jon (black rice) which is very easy to mess up by the way. But she managed to not only cook it perfectly but kept it moist and not dry. Now I ordered some Haitian Mac and Cheese which was forgotten so I had to go back and get it, but again one of the most flavorful dishes I've tried! I would definitely go back just for that. I was too hungry and forgot to take photos Overall, I would recommend this place.

I had been salty about Big Slick's having closed, but it is time to move on. I saw some photos of the food from Bella's and decided to try it before remaining salty, so I ordered food for pickup tonight. They're on your usual delivery apps and have website ordering. I walked in before 8 PM and was a little surprised that there were 2 people separately eating in the restaurant. It had lounge lighting and decor, but it looked casual, since you still would place an order and pay at the front counter (still has the deli setup). To tell you how deserted the counter was, a child was sitting on the stool and had to get a staff member from the back in order for her to give me my order. I left wishing it were a little more happening, especially with the setup. But the food? Wonderful. I got to Griot Parmesan, which is griot (fried pork) and pikliz topping parmesan alfredo penne. THIS is ultimate comfort food! The penne had the great rounded flavor of parmesan and garlic without being overly creamy or heavy, the griot was so tender and evaporated that the fat on it was melty, and the pikliz was a tremendous accent to the dish with its spicy vinegar flavor. I can't remember the last time I liked alfredo pasta so much. It looks to me like Bella's is churning out some lovely Caribbean food. I hope this place gets more exposure so that more people can try it out for themselves!
