I started with the cole slaw. It instantly rocketed to the top of my list of best slaws if have had. I eat cabbage in some form most days. I love it but the seasoning was by far the best combination I have tasted, Next I tried the red beans and rice. Very flavorful - a must try. Now for the reason I chose this place, the conch. The stewed conch was bland, Mac and cheese okay, fish fingers the batter was good. Service sucks simply because the girl in the wig is rude and not customer friendl. it takes nothing to smile and greet people. I am highly dissatisfied with the food and I think I'm done trying these places. For good food go to Kekoon for authentic Jamaican flavors. kalaloo, great Haitian food! We were in the area and decided to stop on for a quick authentic Bahamian snack. We parked in the back of the building and accessed the building from the rear entry. From this entry point, takeout orders are placed in a designated area. We immediately noticed that there were renovations that had taken place since we were last in. There is a counter and a tv behind the bar that displays the live band that is on site in the main dining area! There were menus available for grabs across the bar and there are bar stools and a few tables available for you to occupy while you order and/or wait on your order. We ordered the seafood combination (3) which comes with 3 seafood options and a side order. We ordered double fried shrimp, cracked conch and a side of fries. I guess it depends on what side of the bed the cooks wake up on and they don't believe in giving you your money's worth. OMG!! Went here as a recommendation from the receptionist at our south beach resort. The food is awesome and the service is five star! Went there on a Sunday to try out the conch fritters. We ended up getting the oxtail plate, fritters, sweet potato cake bar and Bahama Mama. The food and drinks were FIRE! The hostess in the bar area was super nice and kind. Sadly we didn't get her name but she made the BEST Bahama Mama! Great food and even better service. Highly recommend. It was so good we went back a few days later for another round of food before our flight back to Cali. Conch is most indigenous to the Bahamas, and is typically served in fritter, salad, and soup forms. The chew is reminiscent of squid but thicker and also very chewy. I guess I would have like a little more flavor. The sauce for the conch was tasty. While there, I also had the Mango daiquiri (with the added alcohol). Once we got to our table, I looked around and there was trash on the floor, tables next to us and behind us needed the dishes removed. Clearly, they had been sitting there forever. There were two waitresses working and a pre-teen child wiping tables. The waitress told us as soon as finished the transaction at the register, she would be with us.We said okay and waited at our table. We watched her finish and move on, checking on her tables that had their food. It was now 2:30pm and we still haven't been seen or at least given a menu to look at. The amount of flies had now almost tripled at the tables next to us and behind us because no one had removed the dishes and leftover food. At that point, my daughter and I got up to leave. The service was horrible and by the looks of the amount of food that was left in the dishes, the food wasn't much better. Very disappointing from a spot I used to frequent. The food is good here, but it depends on who the server is whether or not it's going to be good or bad; and that's not a 50/50 thing it's more like a 70/30 thing, 70% of the time you going to get a bad server and there's only about one or two servers that are professional here. I think the owner is so busy running his business, maybe it's a part of his culture or... no, I can't say culture because a lot of Bahamians are polite and thoughtful of customer service, so i guess it's part of his own personality that he doesn't particularly focus on good customer service, for if he did he would definitely hire better people to greet his customers; because customer service is the lifeblood to any business. I think for the same reasons, he doesn't pay attention to how his servers serve the food and how it's prepared in the back or how the production of the food to is be delivered in terms of eating a meal, because like One reviewer said they bring your items out one at a time and it seems to take forever to get your whole meal. It also seems to take forever for that whole process to start in the first place. Also the wait to even be acknowledged to take your order is tottally rude and unacceptably long.
