The flavors were really hittin--not salty but definitely not lacking in flavor and complexity. We had dinner at Manjay's Citadel location. The food was fresh, filling, and delicious, and service was good. If you're looking for something unique to try at the Citadel, Manjay is worth a shot. They serve Haitian cuisine. Portions were generous and in general, the food was kind of heavy. Many of the components I believe were made to order, so there was a short wait. Here's what my wife and I ordered: Appetizer: * Caribbean Conch Fritters ($14) - Manjay pikliz, honey mustard remoulade These were big and tasty. Six pieces, like giant hush puppies with conch inside. The plate came with pikliz in the center. Pikliz is like the Haitian version of coleslaw, made with cabbage, carrots, onions, and peppers. Manjay's version was spicy and yummy. Bowls, each with 2 sides and 1 sauce: * Honey Jerk Chicken Bowl ($18) - breaded and tossed in Manjay's homemade honey jerk sauce; with red beans rice and sweet plantains and scotch bonnet mango aioli * From Haiti with Love (Griyo) ($18) - Deep-fried Kreyol-style slow-braised pork; with banan payzay and toofay Both the chicken and pork were very good and flavorful. The pork was served bone-in. The rice and beans and sweet plantains were comforting and addictive. The scotch bonnet mango aioli was spicy. Banan payzay are Haitian pressed plantains. These were savory and starchy. The toofay ("legume") was good too. It's a hearty vegetable stew, essentially Haitian ratatouille. Our cashier was Roniqua and she was nice. During our visit, I think Manjay had the longest line (a good sign). After walking around, looking at the other food court options and seeing Manjay's high rating on Yelp, we were sold on Manjay. We dined in so we got real plates and silverware. We actually took everything up to the rooftop bar and ate up there. Our trays were bussed by the staff on the roof. Along with this location at the Citadel food court in Little River (just north of Little Haiti), Manjay has a casual strip location near the Miami airport in Doral. I was on vacation and this was my first experience with Citadel Food Hall and Manjay. I loved the food. I hate that I didn't get to try the red beans and rice (they ran out). The Honey Jerk Chicken Bowl with the mushroom rice and plantain fries? Delicious. The Mango Scotch Bonnet Sauce is so fire . If you can't handle spicy food, you may want to skip that one. The slaw/relish is great too. The plantain fries could have used a tad bit more seasoning but everything else had all of the flavor. I'd give it a 8.5/10. Customer service was good too. Since I didn't feel like driving all the way to Naomi's Kitchen, I looked for somewhere closer and settled on visiting Manjays! Going in, the restaurant is tucked inside a place called The Citadel, which is beautifully lit and bustling with all kinds of food‑themed shops. If you wander a bit further, you'll even stumble upon a really cool antique store worth checking out. For dinner, I ordered 1x Welcome to Haiti bowl with griot, djondjon rice, and sweet plantains. Going into my review, this little spot truly impressed me in the best way! The Welcome to Haiti bowl was packed with savory flavor, well‑seasoned, and tender pieces of pork (without the fatty bits), fluffy black rice, and sweet plantains cooked to perfection. The portion was so generous that I even had leftovers for the next day. Overall, the food was fresh, satisfying, and an incredible value for the price (easily enough to share). Very delicious and went well with the banana, pikliz and rice and beans. The rice and beans could use a bit more of the sauce that comes with it. The pikliz was not spicy at all. Some of us (I'm African) need spicy food to take the food up a notch. I understand catering to the public whose spicy tolerance may not be high, maybe make two batch. One spicy and one plain. I did not like the utensil being mental and out in the open like that. That was disturbing and please invest in some plastic utensils kept away from the public. I loved the cafeteria-style ordering--it made everything feel easy and inviting--and the decadence of the setting really elevated the whole experience. We ordered the jerk chicken, jerk shrimp, and conch fritters. The jerk chicken was DELICIOUS and came with plenty of chicken. It was more on the breaded/fried side versus your usual grilled jerk chicken that you see but I actually liked it a lot. I opted to get my sides of rice and peas and plantains which went great. My mom got the jerk shrimp which she really enjoyed. Her only complaint was that she wished there was more shrimp but other than that she loved. Can't go wrong with conch fritters either. BIG ISSUE: Found a hair in our food and the server had the audacity to claim we put the hair.. looked at the back of workers and cooks, not a single hair net in sight. Disgusting.. I fell for the hype and pulled up to the Citadel to manje at "Manjay." My 1st impression walking in was that this entire spot is a vibe. They had a dj playing on the night I visited. It wasn't too loud, and it was a nice size crowd flowing throughout the building. However, it was a little too dark for my liking. I could barely see the food on my plate because of the lightning. I didn't really like the fact that I couldn't see what was going on around me. When I walked up to the register, an older guy took our order. To be honest, my biggest and only complaint about my visit is customer service. I don't  care what country you're from; learn to be polite to your patrons. Moun Ayisyen, we need to do better. Epi dats et.... I ordered the jerk chicken, and it was well seasoned. My chicken was a little cold, but maybe it's because they got my plantain order wrong, and I had to wait for them to fry my plantain straws. I didn't bring it to their attention because their attitude was already nasty. I wanted to limit my interaction with them.  My friend got the griot, and it was ok. I've had better from the local Haitian restaurant in the city. It was a little tough and lacked epis (seasoning). I'm not going to lie; the rice and beans were delicious. We also did an order of Conch fritters, and they didn't miss a beat with that.  It's was cooked to perfection. So full of great flavors. The creamy dipping sauce they gave us for was spicy but in a good way.  I would purchase that sauce; that's how good it was.  Chef kiss. First, not sure what Haitian flavors they are trying to create but definitely not traditional flavors. Portions were de ent, but I would assume so for the price. Photos were deceiving here, unfortunately. The honey jerk chicken bowl: rice not cooked well (crunchy), chicken was very tough, not hot and crispy even though I ate right onsite. The coleslaw was extremely spicy! Sauces provided were also spicy but found them to be pretty good (and good that they were on the side). The steak frites tasted more like a sweet and sour steak - not one piece of steak, but small slices with a lot of sweet sauce on them. Plantain fries were cold/not crunchy. Quick lunch stop at the Citadel, this sounded like something different and worth trying. It was good, not great but food had a little flavor to it. Opted for the jerk shrimp instead of chicken to try something new but it wasn't as spicy as I would've wanted it to be. Rice was a little on the bland and the tostones were ok I guess. For $35 I'd expect a more generous portion as I was still hungry after this tease of a portion. Also the service wasn't the best or the worst. After getting my food I asked the manager onsite for the Wifi password and she acted as if she was annoyed by my question and again when I asked for the utensils. This is not the type of joint to feel entitled or as if they have the type of cloud to treat people like that but that's what o got. I will not be coming back or recommending but that comes with the territory I guess. They also took the mushroom rice off the menu because the owner, who showed up later on, mentioned it was too expensive to buy so that was a bummer as well. I am so so disappointed... I was picking which restaurant to eat at inside of the Citadel, and after seeing all the positive reviews for this place, I chose this one. $23+ for this bowl of sadness.. Honestly it LOOKS amazing. which makes it even more disappointing. Chicken was dry and the breading on the outside was stale like it had been sitting out for a while. It was tough to chew and the chicken was almost room temperature... As for the sides, I got plaintain fries and red bean rice. Plaintain fries were pretty good--well seasoned. but the rice... HORRIBLE. It was so hard and dry like it has been sitting out for days and then reheated. which I'm convinced might be what they do.. They also didn't give me a fork, so I asked for one, and she told me to get one from the side of the dining hall. There were none left, so I went back and asked her for one. She gave a weird look and very reluctantly handed me plastic silverware. Very interesting.. side note: service was ok. cashier was not very friendly but not my main concern. save ya money, pick a different restaurant within citadel. read more

This is not traditional jerk chicken at all and some purist might have an issue with this dish. These are small fried chicken nuggets tossed in a delicious jerk sauce. The chicken is fried fresh and is hot when it gets to your table. Overall, with the dish is a must have. On our second visit we ordered the chicken bowl which was the same chicken with two sides. We tried several sides including plantain fries spicy slaw and veggies and they were all good. We particularly liked the plantain fries. We also tried the Coco Loco Shrimp on our second visit. This dish was okay but could have used a bit more flavor. Not something I would order again. The guys at the counter are friendly. Definitely more we would like to explore here. read more

So I came on a Tuesday so I'm sure the food was fresh. But upon walking up there's 2 people cooking. Good sign. We stood there for what seemed like an eternity but it was like 2 mins until the lady reluctantly came and took our order. Usually when it comes to carribean food, the more questionable the service the better the food. So I got a good feeling when it seemed like she didn't want to take our order we got the honey jerk shrimp bowl and the griyo bites. So for paying 50$ for an appetizer and entree the food was so good I wasn't mad. Perhaps a lunch menu would do some good but either way I been wanting to try this place forever and I didn't care. I don't understand the reviews for this place, especially on the Honey Jerk Chicken Bowl. It was terrible there was nothing jerk about it, it had absolutely no flavor. I couldn't tell how my rice and beans tasted because the supposedly curry veggies was thrown on top of the rice, and by the way the curry veggies had no curry. I also ordered the supposedly jerk chicken sandwich, I will say it was a chicken sandwich, maybe they ran out of jerk because it had no taste of jerk, I can say it was ok. Delicious! We visited back in June and we are planning to go back soon with our family so they can all try it We tried the mofongo appetizer which was perfectly delicious.
