I contacted Mark to install a new stone bed area with a few plants. I also had some other work done, which I am please with everything they did. Yes, they are overpriced. My problem is two plants have died (honestly probably 14.00 each). We called to ask if the provide any warranty for the flowers and Mark just laughed. Plants died immediately. When asked for them to return or change them I got no response. I was given Wyatt to do the job that cost almost $10k. Grass is patchy most of the plants are dead. At first Wyatt mentioned the plants were to dry (I reminded him he did the sprinklers), then they were "poisoned", then they had pest. So after all this I finally fire them. Wyatt responds oh I was going to take care of you. Never once did he mention replacing the plants and making it right. Pictures speak for themselves. We have an old, majestic Bismarckia Palm in our front yard that suddenly started losing its bark, showing what we thought was rot underneath caused by weevils. I called Mark this morning and Wyatt was here within 45 minutes. He definitely is a knowledgeable arborist. Took one look and reassured us that it was not disease or any problem. Just needs to be cleaned up...and then he proceeded to do just that, peeling off all the dead bark, showing a healthy (but very dirty) trunk. Unprofessional is actually a good review for this company. Made promises, commitments and didn't meet any of them. The scope of the job was simple, remove 3 palm trees and then re-landscape the front yard. They were quick to give me a price for the tree removal then we hit a MAJOR breakdown. The landscaper came, took pictures, we discussed budget. Prior to him leaving, I asked for a board estimate and I doubled what he suggested budget, since I was clear I didn't want the typical yard plants from Home Depot and needs plants that were safe around children. He left assuring me I'd receive his estimate itemizing the plants and his layout idea. What I received was EXACTLY what I didn't want; croton, jasmine and 33 agave (enough for a tequila factory). It took numerous emails and phone calls just to get SOME of the plant issues resolved however NEVER got a layout. When they said they needed to come out and take pictures AGAIN for the layout... it was obvious they didn't want to do the job. Based on recommendations I had high hopes for Tropical. After this experience my high hope is everyone should beware! Update: I have the emails.. the one where I said I didn't want certain plants numerous times. The reply that said Wyatt would come up with "something" else. The one where I asked for samples/pictures the brick and the ceramic pot and the layout...all of which was suppose to be sent,,numerous times and wasn't. You called several times saying you were going to come out and never showed. You're right..you sent an email saying you were going to stop by to take pics (same pictures Wyatt took when he was FIRST out) You didn't need me home to take pictures. It showed things were basically not moving forward on your side. Even though I had advised you that I had received the OK from my HOA to do the work. The approval was for tree removing and landscaping WITH YOUR NAME ON IT! So to say I decided to go with another company that I had spoken with....try again. The Company that DID the work was FIRST contacted AFTER your finally email/no show. I HAD NOT.. I repeat..HAD NOT contacted ANY other company before Tropical for the entire job which was tree removal & landscaping. . Mark maybe it wasn't you.. Wyatt actually had the landscaping in his hands. Great experience with Mark, Willie and the team! I rec'd a speedy and reasonable quote and the team was able to do the work ahead if shedule. I have a small yard, with (a huge and overloaded with coconuts) coconut, queen, areca palms, as well as a non palm tree that was desparately in need of a (huge) trim. Mark, the owner, was awesome. He was prompt in returning my call, providing a proposal for work to be done as well as his evidence of his insurance coverage. There was quick turnaround between my approving the proposal and the work being done. I was not pleased with the work the arborist did the first time and Mark was quick to send him back out to do the work according to my desires. The completion of that work was fantastic.
