I really enjoyed my experience coming here. I booked a spray tan a few weeks before my wedding to just see if it was something I would like/want to do again beforehand. I forget the name of the gal who does the spray tans, but she made it an incredibly easy and pleasant experience. I was nervous because I've never had a spray tan, let alone set food in a tanning salon ever before, and I really didn't want to look like an Oompa Loompa. She was so helpful, guiding me through what I may be looking for, and through the entire process. It's slightly awkward to stand naked in front of a woman you have never met before, in a "shower", while she blows cold air on your body, but she was so professional and kind. I went back a second time because I did choose to go for it for my wedding and she was exactly the same way. I so appreciated it! read more

Everyone was super friendly and the place is very cute, but I got a spray tan before my trip to Mexico and no one could tell I even went. Friends that knew I had scheduled my tan asked if I had cancelled my appointment. I also wasn't told about the time frame for standard vs rapid solution so had to then plan my drive to the airport accordingly at 5:00pm. Unfortunately I was not the bronzed goddess I wanted to be in Mexico. read more

I was really excited about trying this place and was told good things but I honestly wouldn't recommend them for spray tans. Everyone was really nice and the place is very clean! But this is literally the worst spray tan I've ever gotten and I've been getting them religiously for years. It was super uneven, large parts of the tan just missing, splotchy, and all around poorly done. I have multiple big events coming up and am literally embarrassed to even go anywhere with this tan. read more

This is literally one of the worst spray tans I've ever gotten. I expected so highly of them from the reviews, to the price, to it being an actual person instead of a machine. Not only is TZ great place for tanning they have an awesome selection of CUTE clothing! This place is GREAT! I love that the girls and the owner know my name when I walk in the door. They are very personable and they typically remember my favorite beds and tanning time. They are open at 7:30 am; it's great to be able to tan before work and not have to fuss with it after a long work day. I feel like they have educated me on tanning (UV-A and UV-B, etc.) and really want me to get the most out of my tanning experience. They recently got some new beds, several lay downs, stand up, high pressure and spray tan: ALL of which I have tried and they are all great! Best tanning place in Chico. Their beds actually make you dark! I've had memberships at Cal Sun, EuroBronze and Electric lounge and I get just as tan at Tropical Zone in two sessions than I did in a whole month at the other places. Been going here on and off a couple years now. I would come here while I was on leave from the Marines and the owner would give my brother and I special deal since we both were only home for a couple weeks. Owner is very friendly and as well as staff. Went in last minute tonight while they were closing and Carly allowed me to get my "T" on. I can't say enough good things about my experience at Tropical Zone. I wasn't sure which route to go for the events I have over the next year. The spray technician I spoke with was very knowledgeable about the products and listened to what I wanted out of a tanning salon. I ended up going with a spray tan because I am fair-skinned and didn't have much time. She was very professional and explained the entire process to me to make sure I was on board. I can't believe this but she actually said "not now, I'm here alone and have a lot to do.", and then went silent! Nice tanning salon atmosphere & employees, but it had horrible spray tanning equipment. I'm very pale skinned and have been doing spray tans for years and one of my friends turned me on to Tropical Zone because it's cheaper than most places and let's just say I can tell why it's cheaper. It left me with blotches of tanning solution, drip stains everywhere and parts of my body are still white! Thank heavens it's cold outside and I can cover my body up! Before this week I would have given them 5 stars but that has changed. I purchased a spray tan package, no expiration and digitally tracked by their computer system. I used all but 4 and had found out I had a skin condition that kept me from using the remaining spray tans until recently. I called and was told they had a new system installed and I wouldn't be able to use my sessions because my name no longer was in the computer amd my sessions had been lost. Now I realize it has been some time since my purchase but I had called a year ago and asked about my remaining credits. At that time I was assured the tan sessions would not expire and would be there when I wanted to use them. I went in a few days ago and again tried to use my tan credit. I was told there was nothing they could do but I could pay $35 for a spray tan. So to wrap this up, they have a nice salon. No high pressure sales, nice equipment and clean. I would have recommended them to a friend. The customer service is lacking, they didn't care what I had paid for nor would they e en try to make it right. I asked for the manager amd was told hed be back Monday but he wouldn't be able to do anything because they had recently installed the new conputer software and my 4 paid tans were lost in the switch So for this I feel they have poor customer service and lack integrity. read more

I really really wanted to like this place! My mom has been using them on and off for years. There monthly plans seem very well priced and the customer service is outstanding! The ladies are so nice and knowledgeable. With that being said my sister and I both came in for a spray tan before a family wedding. We got two different kinds (mine a 2 hour hers an 8 hour) after following instructions we both showered after the appropriate amount of time and in the manner in which they told us to shower. Day one we both looked good. Day two tho (day of the wedding of course) we both started to notice spots. Big spots all over of missing tan. I would have to shower morning and night by end of day two because my neck would get all streaky. My sister got these tiny spots all over both of her arms. I am very sad it didn't work out and I will definitely not come back for a spray tan to this place. I am currently googling "how to get rid of a bad spray tan" wish me luck. read more
