We enjoyed sitting on the porch drinking cocktails and chatting for hours. We noticed a couple cleanliness issues when we first arrived, like a dirty floor and some leftover relics from the folks before us--a single wilted flower on a bedside table and dusty toys and a children's book under the bed. Our enthusiasm truly diminished around bed time when I pulled out the couch to find excessive mouse droppings all over the sheets, blankets, and pillows. Since it was pretty late when we discovered this, two of us elected to share a bed in the loft, hopefully away from any further rodent discoveries. The next morning we were told by the front desk that the mouse issue has never happened before, which I believe, but regardless it was clear to us that our unit had not been thoroughly inspected prior to our arrival. For the price, I would expect a more thorough cleaning of the entire space. We are pretty confident we won't return to Wee Casa.

It's also a 5 minute drive to Grand Lake and horseback riding. The town is definitely on "mountain time" meaning they start shutting down when it gets slow, or just before nightfall. THE RANCH: The ranch in general does have a lot to offer and it appeared that it's mostly used for weddings. They have a basketball court, volleyball court, kids play area, petting area with various farm animals, indoor pool, workout area, kitchen area, gazebo, fishing stream, 2 bridges, yard games, s'mores fire pit, BBQ grills, and a ton of places for photo ops! There were also several cabins throughout the ranch of various sizes that could hold families of 4-5 in each cabin. I think there were close to 15 different cabins to stay in. PROS: We really liked being on the ranch and got to spend some great quality family time doing family events on the ranch. We fished, rode horses, played BB, cornhole, and a few other yard games. We also saw a large Moose and her baby grazing about 100m from our cabin. It's really common to see Moose in the area, but it was a special treat to see her with her baby. We also saw humming birds and tiny chipmunks around all cabins each day. CONS: For 2 days we became overwhelmed by mosquito's. It got so bad that they called in a local company to fog the area with repellent to help kill them. The fogging did help and significantly reduced the number of mosquito's in the area. The rooms, bedding, beds, bathrooms, and cabins in general are nothing to brag about. They are old, and in need of big updating. I tried not to let this cloud my judgement about the ranch as a whole because we were there to enjoy the outdoors but it would have been nice to come back to a nice room and shower at the end of the day. If their main focus is a wedding venue, I was expecting to be in a much nicer cabin, especially considering they cater to people on one of their most memorable days. The cell phone coverage in the area is very hit and miss. Overall, the family and I enjoyed our time here and made some great memories!!

She was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable about both the lodge and Estes Park, and immediately made us feel at home. Walking into the lodge feels like stepping back in time in the best possible way. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a true log cabin feel. Many of the decorations and furnishings are original, including some of the glassware, which adds to the incredible history of the property. The first floor features three original fireplaces, plenty of comfortable seating, complimentary coffee and water, board games, books, movie rentals, and DVD players in every room. The lodge has also built a beautiful bar area that should be opening soon once their liquor license is finalized, which will be another great addition. During our first night, we stayed in Room 305, a one-bedroom suite with a separate bedroom and incredible mountain views. The bed, pillows, and bedding were honestly some of the most comfortable I've ever slept on outside of my own home. I slept amazingly well. The room included a kitchenette with a two-burner cooktop, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker with Folgers coffee, dishes, paper towels, dish soap, sponge, and even cute little salt and pepper shakers. The bathroom was stocked with quality shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion. The view from Room 305 was breathtaking. As the sun set behind the Rocky Mountains, it looked as if the mountains were glowing with fire. It was one of the most beautiful views I've experienced in Estes Park. For our second night, we moved to Room 103, a spacious two-bedroom suite. This room was absolutely huge and perfect for families or groups. It featured two separate bedrooms, a larger kitchen area with a mid-sized refrigerator, multiple bathrooms, a comfortable living room, and a full balcony with tables and chairs overlooking Estes Park. Like every room, it included a box fan, though we actually found ourselves getting chilly enough to close the windows at night. The outdoor amenities are just as impressive. The pool is large, clean, and surrounded by plenty of tables, chairs, and loungers. The hot tub is the perfect temperature and includes bubbling jets. There's a hammock for relaxing, Adirondack chairs overlooking the scenery, cornhole for some friendly competition, and propane grills available for guests to use. The property also hosts weddings, and honestly, I can't imagine a more beautiful setting for one. What I love most about this lodge is that it feels authentic. It's quiet, secluded, and never crowded. The limited number of rooms creates a peaceful atmosphere that's becoming harder and harder to find in Estes Park. I've stayed at five different hotels and lodges in Estes Park over the years, and this is hands down my favorite. The combination of history, comfort, amenities, incredible views, friendly staff, and fair pricing makes it stand out above the rest. I love the exposed wood and the furniture was all super comfy. Some of my main requirements for staying somewhere are safety, comfort, and cleanliness & they nailed it in every category. The amenities are a nice to have too. The location is great, just a short walk up from the main road with all the shops and restaurants and another block up from the lake. It's perfectly centralized and sits among other homes/cabins. The "village" is set up like a grid with all the cabins enclosed inside of a wooden gate and there's a super cute and cozy hangout pergola in the middle with a fire pit and cornhole boards. There's plenty of seating around the quaint property and each cabin comes with a picnic table, grill, and Adirondack chairs. The check-in process was easy-peasy and we were greeted with two complimentary Colorado beers in the fridge and a bottle of water. The cabin is equipped with everything you could possibly need - cooking tools and basic seasonings, coffee maker, towels, extra blankets, a dishwasher. The water pressure in the shower was great. There's a canteen on the property where you can rent movies, games, outdoor equipment, yoga mats, etc at no cost and there are also necessities for purchase. It's a touchless system which is nice. Heck one of my favorite places is the Best Western in Winterpark built in the early 80s... it ain't the Ritz! But for $250-300 per night for a 1 bed room + kitchen in Grand Lake without any view, next to an alley... it should be a lot better than this place The good... Everything was clean. Appliances, fans, heaters, dishes, pots/pans, etc were all in good shape and worked properly. The OMG... 2 kids 2 adults... each take 4 to 5 minute showers. You guessed it! Most days only enough Hot water for 2 to 2.5 showers. Oddly, water pressure was good) but if you turn on the cold water, it was so cold you'd freeze, literally, even when the hot was on full blast. Yes owners are nice and attentive but our cabin is a hodge podge patchwork of broken, worn out, poorly installed DIY, and some just plain missing items (some cabinet doors) Kitchen floor sloped a LOT It was annoying every time you walked on the slanted floor. Sofa Bed sagged, 80% of it. The "solution" is in the photos. Yeah, hey... I get it, a $100 sofa set from Big Lots will do that... so leave those to the college kids and get a decent quality set for your full time rental! Kitchen counter was screwed together -- sitting on top of the free cabinets ok, not all cabinets 'need' doors I know, not a huge deal, but it was obvious these cabinets had them and were freebies since under the sink were two end cabinets, not a single sink cabinet and you removed the drawer and screwed the drawer front on... classy! Tile work in the tiny shower... stop, please... you are not good at that, and you tried to be fancy... wow, no - just no! Shower valves... nice job letting water get into the wall without handle covers over the tile... I'm assuming more freebies and didnt want to spend money so ... holes in the wall, no problem Bathroom Fan/Light... WOW, this is LOUD... it vibrated the entire room, not kidding. The only other light was above the sink and the switch was not in reach from the door, no matter how tall you are. made finding it at night difficult. They need to separate the light and the humidity fan to 2 separate switches... oh, and make it so the fan doesnt sound/feel like the space shuttle is lifting off Bedroom... bed was comfortable, no issues there. But the bed took up the entire room, literally... only about 20" of space on any side... and you could not even open up a carry on on the floor except at the foot of the bed... then you are stepping over your luggage constantly.
