Spent the most amazing week at The Rustic Acre! First time in Estes Park and we couldn't have had a nicer time. The Rustic Acre is in a great location, close to downtown and the lake. The property is beautiful and our unit (twin owls) was perfect for a family, and included a full kitchen. We saw wildlife on the property almost every day, and had a beautiful view of the mountains from our porch. There could not have been a better way to wake up and go to bed everyday than that view!! Stayed here for long weekend 1/26. Pros: In Estes Park, cozy, nice design of room, beautiful gas fireplace & views. Cons: Hard to find - poor signage & lighting. wooden deck rotting & no railing for safety. Bathroom dirty - floor dirty - spilt water - wiped - black paper towel after. Yellow pee along the molding & fan in bathroom. Refrigerator very noisy. Mattress so creaky woke you up to turn over or get on. Coffee - nice set up except no decaf offers either coffee or tea. Safety - Snowed, they shoveled but very slippery . Did Not put down sand. We would not return - on VRBO & put in a review with suggestions & they lied & did not publish. Our stay was perfect. This location is convenient to downtown Estes and close to both the Beaver Meadows and Falls River RMNP entrances. We had a 1BR/1BR which met our needs perfectly. Brandon was friendly and responsive to our needs. The unit was clean and well maintained. I will definitely recommend this to friends. read more

Cute place. Not sure how clean it is though, there was a pair of dirty socks leftover from the guest before us in the loft area. Obviously they didn't look or clean up there. All they did was pick up the socks & say sorry. We lost something in the couch and when looking under the cushions it was full of dog hair and just nasty, there was some trash visibly under the dresser in the main room & the windows were dirty. You can tell it was because of a dogs nose. You'd think for a $100 something cleaning fee it would be a lot cleaner. Or maybe my expectations are too high? The walls are very thin, you can hear the people in the room next to us. I don't recommend this place, the only reason we picked it is because we were suppose to bring our dogs and at the last minute didn't. I'm sure there are better places in Estes Park, unless you have a dog then this might be a good choice for you. read more

We found Rustic Acre while doing an internet search. Our expectations were totally exceeded. Jason and Joanne seemed more like family than just owners, with their attention to detail and very service oriented attitude. You won't get what they have to offer in a motel, five-star or otherwise. Immaculately clean and down home lodges with amenities like large decks and porches to a huge fire pit and a keg of beer!! Spotlessly clean and lavishly appointed, you can't beat it! read more

We could not be happier with this slice of heaven. We stayed at the Prospect Cabin and had everything we needed for a fabulous vacay. Several days we had deer outside our cabin. I came to horseback ride and this was close to several different options. The views are spectacular, and its close to pretty much everything. We will be back! read more

we booked a week to stay at the rustic acre in the Prospect minor cabin, based on speaking with the owner and viewing their website, we thought this was going to be a great place. However, after entering the cabin, we knew immediately this was not what we were expecting. there was a very strong, overwhelming smell of an odor that was either a cleaner or an aerosol. It was so strong that you could taste it. We left the cabin door open for three hours in hopes of airing it out, however; we were not successful. We were told by the owner, William that there was not aerosols plugged in, but they were actually to prevent rodents. Regardless there was something in the cabin that was extremely overwhelming. It was so strong that it sent me into an asthma attack. They advertised that the showerhead was low for anybody taller than 5' 10" that they might have to bend slightly in the shower. I am 5'6" tall and had to bend my knees greatly in order to rinse my hair. The beams in the bedroom ceiling are so low and when my husband went into the bathroom during the night, he cut the top of his head wide open from the beam. The dust in the vents are thick and black . When you lift the bench at the table in the kitchen, it was full of cobwebs. The couch is so old and saggy that when you sat in it, you sunk in approximately 12 inches of which my husband had to help me get out of the couch because I sunk so low. they say the bed is a queen bed however, it is a full bed the pillows meet together when we both laid on the bed we were exactly next to each other. They have open coffee supplies that we don't know who touched them or if they were tampered with none of the sugars or creamers were an individual packages. The refrigerator had black chunks in on it the shelves. they had an air conditioning lock put on we're kept the room at 77°. We were able to reduce it for only two hours at a time which meant throughout the night we'd have to get up in order to reduce the air so that the room was cooler. the owner acted like he was just a caretaker, and he deceived us by saying he is not the owner when in fact he is and he lives directly on the property. His name is William , when we asked about having a refund for the unused portion of the 2000+ dollars, we paid for seven nights, he said he'd have to consult with the other four owners upon doing research we found out that he and his wife are the sole owners of the property they live on the property and he is making the decision not to refund us, even though they rented the remainder of our week out to another family. it states in there that there is a grill for your use . the grill is a community grill that is a couple of cabins away that we were not even aware of until William told us that there was one. Not clean. Website very misleading. Do NOT believe the photos , they are NOT current. read more

This is a wonderful place to stay when you are in Estes Park. Great location to get into Rocky Mountain National Park. We stayed in Mt Olympus, a very comfy 2 room cabin with a fridge and microwave. We loved it. But they do have units with full kitchens. Best of all- pet friendly! Check them out! Great hosts! read more

When we travel, we almost always rent vacation properties which are privately owned. We had a bad experience The Rustic Acre in Estes Park, Colorado. We checked into the property after 9pm on July 3 for a two night stay and looked forward to the fresh mountain air. Since it was warm inside having been closed a while, we opened the windows. After a short while the place began to smell like the smoke of a camp fire. Having a baby with us, we were quite concerned. I called the owner, Jason Miller, and told him what was going on. He asked me if there was a fire nearby and I said I did not think so. On the phone he said if we wanted to leave and find another place, he would make it right and refund us. He sarcastically said though "Good luck, tomorrow's the fourth of July." Within five minutes, he arrived at the property and came in. My wife was feeding our baby on the floor while we talked about the issue. He said there was indeed a fire outside. The property has several rentals on it and one of the other guests had just started a fire pit in a location just outside one of the windows. He told me that I said there wasn't a fire. Which came across in an argumentative way, but I dismissed it and just said we hadn't been outside since arriving. I told him we would try to find another place and appreciated his offer of a refund. Which he again acknowledged. He left shortly after. I was able to find a place online and then we left ten minutes later. I believe we were there a total of thirty minutes or so. Fast forward - Six days later we received a refund of $150, which was less than half the amount we paid for our two night. The comment with the refund stated "I was able to rent the unit for one night at $150 last minute." I emailed him about this and never received a response. After failing to get email response for several days, I opted to post on the place's Facebook page and quite frankly am in disbelief at the owner's attitude. Everything from saying he never said he would give a a full refund, to claiming he never received the email, to taunting my manhood for posting on his Facebook page. Even said we left a dirty toilet and diapers in the trashcan and lost him money. Hello, WE lost money! Thanks for reading, just can't believe the guy! Unreal! read more

Great place to stay! The owners are very friendly. We rented the Prospectors cabin for the weekend and it was very clean, well supplied and very comfortable. They allow pets which was a huge plus for me, I travel with my pup as often as possible. It's nice to have all the members of your family for a fun holiday getaway. Thanks for a great stay! We stayed here for the week of July 4th. We stayed in Mt. Olympus Cabin. Now, upon my arrival I was looking for the a/c. Owner Jason assured me there was no need to worry and even offered to refund my money if I wasn't happy. He was right and we had the time of our lives. The Miller family are wonderful owners and they make sure you feel welcome and comfortable. Very friendly and accommodating. I would (and will) highly recommend this property to anyone who is visiting Estes Park. It is so centrally located and easy access to everything. We watched the fireworks from the parking lot. Our stay 3/7/2015-My Husband and I (Colorado Mountain Town Travelers aka stay cationers) celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary here with our 2 boys. The cabin we stayed in was perfect for our needs. RELAXATION and somewhere our kids would be happy as well. The loft upstairs was great for the boys and the master was so relaxing with a view of mountains, a jacuzzi tub, fresh air, super clean and comfy bed. My only regret is that we did not stay longer. We had planned on getting out and we did not, we ordered amazing take out thai food and spirits and stayed in relaxation mode. Cooked breakfast the next morning in the well supplied clean kitchen and we will definitely be back. Thanks to the wonderful hosts for really making it feel so warm and welcoming. read more

This place is amazing. My husband and I had planned two nights, but on our first day driving out from Kansas City, we got stuck in a blizzard so bad that they closed I-70 and we had to spend the night in Burlington, CO. Jason was more than helpful with getting us a refund. When we finally made it there, the place was beautiful. The cell service was still down because of the storm and I knew my parents were worried, so Jason was kind enough to call them on a land line for me when he went into town. We stayed in the Mummy Mountain suite, which was awesome. I'm sure the other ones are too. I only wish we could have stayed longer. read more

My husband and I, being cigarette smokers, have a hard time finding anyone who wants to rent to us, even if we tell the homeowners we smoke outside--which we do. Jason and Joanne were accommodating and provided us with a wonderful, immaculately clean small cabin for us to adventure out of. Both owners introduced themselves and seemed to be so cheerful. We met their sweet dog, who just wanted to be loved on. The cabin itself is small, but perfectly sized for 2 people with a comfy bed, nice bathroom, good linens and nice whirlpool tub. The porch was a relaxing place to have a cup of coffee. The property is a 3 minute drive to the parking garage or 15ish minute walk. From there, you can catch the shuttles all over town. Both Jason and Joanne are wonderful hosts, and invested in making sure you're having a good time. The only thing I would have changed would have been a curtain or blind over the uppermost window, but the location of the same might make putting one up nearly impossible. It meant early morning sun streams into the room, but on the other hand, we both wanted to get up to adventure out. I highly recommend Snowy Peaks Winery, the Himalayan Curry & Kabob and You Need Pie while you are out. Again, we could not have asked for a better, more accommodating, clean or cheerful place to stay while in Estes Park. read more

I positively love this place. The owners were fabulous, accommodating, and friendly. The property was gorgeous and love the views of mummy mountain. My dogs were accepted here which I live bc one of my pups is a Pitt bull. I will definitely be returning for another visit. Mt Olympus cabin was affordable, with jaw dropping views of magnificent Estes Park, Co. Also within min of great local shops and restaurants... Oh and the infamous Stanley Hotel from the movie "The Shining" is less than five min away. If you want to experience the beauty Colorado has to offer and be comfortable while there visit Rustic Acres its home away from home. read more

This place was recommended to us by Buddha's and Ghouda's in Boulder on Pearl Street. Fell in love when I walked through the door. Very cabin-like feel in a hidden spot right in the middle of the Mountains of Estes Park. I would hands down come back or even move here! The Guest House was equipped with anything you could need including Caribou Coffee! Master bedroom has a jacuzzi which was a nice surprise. Only downside would be that the wifi was spotty and slow for my iPhone and the Smart TV didn't work when we tried Netflix. Also wish there was the option to turn the heat up a bit.
