And according to Evan there labor is $100 /hr so an $80 part quickly came up too $200+. And no one called me up before maintenance was done on my car I have an app that gives me updates on my car and was notified about my oil and tires before I even got a call. read more

I got locked out of an Audi A6 which is a notoriously difficult car to get into and was concerned that someone was going to need to drive an hour with my spare keys, but they saved the day. Tow truck never showed, unfortunately. I didn't have time to call another one because it was late at night and I had work in the morning. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because the women on the phone were polite. They had assured me I was the next person to get towed but I never got a call from the driver and decided to leave an hour after the service window closed (yeah, I'm the dummy for waiting that long, I know). Wish I wasn't on such a time crunch in order to see their work, but I will be looking for a tow that's more willing to help me out in the AM! read more

This place used to be my favorite one but I'm very disappointed my tires was changed by me and then it need to be alignment So I took it to this shop and they say they got me ,the engine light come on They take off engine light from my car and they charge me $162 but after I pick up my car was still feeling the same so I call the lady at front how can we fix that but she told me that I have to do an appointment so I basically I pay 160 for nothing. I've only really ever interacted with one of their techs - Jeremy. This dude is awesome. Super knowledgeable and great at explaining the issue with my car so that even I could understand it. Today I had my second service at Troy Auto Care. I had the alternator changed a couple of months ago and they did a great job. Today I had the battery replaced. While changing the battery, they noticed a tire was low, diagnosed the problem, and made the repair. I will definitely be coming back! I've also had them come to the house to jump my car. One of the worst mechanic shops around. We took my wife's care up there to get an oil change an alignment and her fluids checked and her headlight fixed. She dropped it off on Friday at 11 am and has not heard back from the shop and it is now Sunday and they are closed. She was given no update on the status of her car or even when she could pick her car up. We are now down to 1 car and I work in the morning and she works in the afternoon so she will not be able to get to work thanks to this place. I am never recommending this place to anyone and if anyone asks how this place is I will tell them to turn tail and run!!! read more

The battery in my Equinox died last week. We waited until we could jump it ourselves to see if it was really dead or just needed a jump (maybe I left my lights on). But nope, it was just dead. I called AAA and they sent out Troy Auto Care to my home within an hour and they called before coming to make sure they had the right battery for my car. Kyle was who helped me and he was great. So friendly and no pressure to buy from him. He came out, tested my battery for free, confirmed that it's dead (it's 5-6 years old, so it was time), and said he could have a new one installed in 10 mins. $150 later, my car now runs beautifully and it was super convenient that I didn't need to leave my house. PLEASE READ This place is pretty much only good for an oil change. Do not bring your BMW here! I mean even when they did the oil change on mine they didn't even reset the meter but This review is about my car that they could not fix even 1% of. My trunk was locked shut and I think I was having a battery issue (in the trunk) but they couldn't even figure out how to get into the trunk! They had my car for 24 hours and the next day I had to leave work early because it was getting dropped off to the dealership at 5:30. I ended up having to have it towed 25 minutes to the Erhard Bloomfield Hills dealership. Long story short I was waiting until seven and the dealership had already closed. Kaitlyn told me they had picked up the car 10 minutes before I called to check up at 5:56 but when I called dispatch they said he was still trying to get the car onto the tow truck because he couldn't figure out how to get it into neutral. By the time they got there at 7 PM I was the last person at the dealership and all the people had gone home. I was stuck waiting for an Uber in my cold nonfunctional car. While I was in my car AND THIS IS THE FUCKED UP PART I discovered that they put the center paneling which they brought up over my auxiliary cord and I didn't know why they had even brought that up let alone have enough sense to put it back how they found it. Also in the backseat the paneling to get into the trunk wasn't put on and I had to snap it into place. On the outside of the car it looked like they're dirty fucking hands left smudges everywhere on my car(probably from doing so many oil changes all day) . Shopping at Costco in Madison Heights, and while packing my items in the trunk, I set my purse and keys down... since I had not yet unlocked the doors, my Mini Cooper gave me a gratis "trunk lock" when I closed the trunk. Nice. I'm lucky for two things - carrying my cell phone in my pants pocket and my 5 year old gleefully still holding her newly purchased Troll toy. My roadside insurance arranged with Troy Auto to come out and get into my car. ETA - 60 minutes of wait time. I weighed the option of calling Uber, driving home for the spare and returning later in the day... I even down loaded the Uber app but as I couldn't decipher how to order the cheapest fare I decided to stick it out and wait the hour for the tow truck service. They arrived 30 minutes ahead of ETA and the friendly qualified assistant had gotten in the car in 5 minutes. Nice! Very professional and courteous. read more

My husband's truck's battery died. I called AAA and they sent someone from this shop. Brian tested the battery, they noticed the battery was bad (which is interesting because we had another shop replace the battery last year..shame). He was very polite and nice. Once the truck worked, I took it to the shop. When I walked in, I was greeted with a warm temperature (it's cold and January), free wi-fi and laptops, coffee, water, and an extremely polite young man at the desk. He called me man, smiled, introduced himself, and even shook my hand. He couldn't have been older than 17. Come to find out, he is the owner's son! They quickly replaced my battery and windshield wipers and I was out of the shop in 35 minutes. I'll definitely bring my husband's truck again for future service! read more

I had an UNSATISFIED experience. THEY PUT ONLY ONE LUG NUT ON MY CAR'S WHEEL!!!!!! I went to Troy Auto Care to change my rear brake pads and rotors. After that, I leave and I drove a few miles I started to feel some vibration and noise. I thought it was my underbody shield fall off until someone beeping and yelling at me said: "Your wheel is almost fall off." I pull over and I capture this. The mechanic only put ONE lug nut on my left rear wheel !! I call them immediately then they sent a tow truck to pick up my car back to the shop. They put the screws back and told me "You are all set." I not asking for a compensation for this matter. However, I think they should do something for me. I have not heard an apology from the beginning to end. I am very disappointed. For them it was just a careless mistake, for me it would cause me seriously injured. Since I bought this car, all my maintenance and repairs have been done here, they've been doing well until this happened. Their manage promise to give me answer after she check the monitor. NOW, IT HAS BEEN A WEEK AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY MASSAGE, EMAIL OR PHONE CALL!!!!!!!!! Troy auto care reply: Tim, when we installed the new brakes on your rear aftermarket wheels, we also cleaned the aluminum oxidation build up off the wheels as best we could and tightened the studs. Our customer's safety is the most important and we would never act as negligently as your claims. Unfortunately, due to the high level of aluminum oxidation, three of the wheel studs did loosen while you were driving. Upon your return to our shop, our owner Donnie Hudson, did inspect and review the video from your service showing that our technician did tighten all the wheel studs on this wheel. We are very sorry that this occurred, we would never intentionally jeopardize our customer's safety on the road! I'll say this response they gave was extremely irresponsible and unfair. They say they inspect and review the video, but did I review it? NO. Furthermore, you guys say you value the life of your customers, does it mean that I don't value my life???????? I know that they are doing their best to avoid responsibility. I hope other people can be vigilant, because this thing may happen to you one day! read more

I called AAA roadside service and Troy Auto Care was dispatched. The young man who assisted was prompt and very helpful under difficult circumstances. We could not start a handicap van and my wheelchair bound mother and her friend were in the vehicle with me. While pulling up to run diagnostics the service vehicle ran into the back end of the van with us inside. He quickly checked for damage, I was told there was none and let it go. We were focused on getting my mother back to a safe place and the dents went unnoticed until I picked the van up after they replace the starter. I have no complaints with the driver, it was an accident and an honest mistake. My outrage is with the owner who was supposed to take care of the damage. One dent was partially removed and the vehicle was handed back to me. Another dent he refused to do anything about. Granted, there was a small mark prior from the aftermarket pin holding the door securely against the ramp, but when the impact pushed us forward it protruded significantly. The plastic panel on the inside of the hatch was also gouged on both ends by the ramp. I was told I was "ungrateful" (as if this were charity work on his part!) and that he "saw the video of the roadside service visit and his driver went out of his way to be helpful" (as if I shouldn't expect repairs for this accident because he was so nice to us). Don told me he was done here and he wasn't going to give me a new car! I'm done too. I had been a customer in the past, but no longer. read more

I had a problem with my car and needed a tow (so I thought). I called AAA and these guys were sent out. Zach was here on time and instead of just towing my car to the dealership, took the time to ask me what was wrong. He felt it was most likely an electrical/battery issue rather than the throttle control switch which was the warning light that had been displayed. He called the battery and electrical guy that came and checked things out. Being part of AAA was quite nice because the battery replacement was the only thing that was out of pocket. Could I have saved a couple bucks going and getting the battery and changing it myself? Possibly...but time is money and these guys did NOT waste my time. Friendly service, reliable work. Recently needed car fixed there. When I asked for a detailed estimate via email, (there were a lot of things that needed repair) They say they would email it to me but never did. They even asked for an email address when I dropped off the car. In addition, I did not get a call after dropping my car off for 4 days. I know they can be busy, how about a call to say "hey, We havent gotten to your car yet but we will. We are a little backed up" I had to call to find out that they didnt get to it yet after 4 days. When the estimate finally came out a WEEK later, it was more than what the car is worth. Now that is not their issue. It just happens that my car needed a lot of work. However, when I asked them if I could just get the absolutely vital repairs done so I can drive the vehicle and not break the bank, they said the would call me back to let me know. They never did. This review is critiquing their customer service. Not the actual repair work. They do good work. I used them before. But after this experience I looked elsewhere. I found another repair shop that got my car up and running with 1/3 of the cost and I am very happy with that. If you read all of this, I thank you and my hats off to you. I am a working father, writing reviews is the least important thing on my to do list. But I felt so strongly about this that I have to get this off my chest and give this information for others to consider. read more

So 2 weeks ago I hit a pothole. The car started to veer to the right and wobble. Took it to the dealer for a scheduled recall and had them look at it. They performed an alignment and told me to get new tires and sent me on my way. The car is even worse!!!! Wobbly like a penguin! Bruce Drinkwater told me to come here. They were busy but somehow fit me in. The customer service was phenomenal!!! 45 minutes later I'm on my way with two new front tires for less than $150!!! Had my car fixed today, 1966 mustang that suddenly won't start. Tried jumping it but no effect. I know nothing about cars so I decided to call Troy Auto Care which has some good reviews. My car was towed by Mike who got in my place 30 mins prior to ETA, very professional and really knows what he's doing. Car service was great and honest. My car just needed a new battery cable. Not a fan of this place. Had some work done to the front end and upon picking up my vehicle the driver's side area was filthy--I mean disgustingly filthy. The tech that worked on my car was a walking dirt ball from head to toe. It appeared he hadn't taken a shower in weeks. So our steering wheel, interior door handle, seat and center counsel was smudged with grease. They attempted to clean but not to satisfaction. Owner who was deer hunting promised to make it right but repeated calls not returned. Additionally, the work they performed on outer tie rods was suspect as one year later they had to be replaced again. New technician pointed out (visable) that they glued a part near the wheel in an attempt eliminate the ABS warning light. Dissatisfied doesnt describe our frustration. Then they fixed it the same day and it was for a really good price. We decided to have them fix something on our other car and it was done same day and great price. And, they had to order a part. I have always recommended Troy Auto care to friends and family. They do quality work at a fair price. Then the other week, I took my car for an oil change and brake check at a place closer to my home. When I left there, my car was driving weird. After taking it back to this OTHER place twice more, they kept saying it was the heat shields and it wasn't fixed. Finally, I took it to Troy Auto Care, they diagnosed and fixed the problem in 15 minutes! The OTHER place had put my different sized tires in the wrong placements. And, Troy Auto Care didn't charge me to move the tires to the right spots. I love them even more now. GO THERE! read more

Im going to say this, if there is a more honest and customer service oriented auto care buisness in Detroit metro I havent found it. jeremy the mech, told me the way it was and what I needed. Thats what I wanted. The truth. My two sons were home on leave from the military and I needed my front end struts done like quick. Troy Autocare saved me.
