I ended up with a dead battery in the middle of a single digit degree day and after many unsuccessful attempts, was able to call B&R who came out and changed my battery in less than 20 mins. I live about 3-4 miles from the shop, so it may have been an easy drop-in, but Ray and Keena were amazing and extremely helpful, and the cost was reasonable given the cost of battery plus what a tow would've cost to a shop, plus labor. On Friday, August 2nd there was a storm with widespread flooding in Birmingham, Michigan. On my street, my 2007 Toyota Camry became stuck in a puddle and stopped. Unable to get it started, I called a tow truck nearby. Ray, from B & R Auto Repairs & Towing on 2330 Cole Street, Birmingham. He came and took my car and myself to his shop. He told me that he would check it out and call me and that he thought he would be able to fix it because Camrys are so durable. Ray called me shortly after to tell me that the engine was flooded and that it was totaled. On August 12, I brought the Camry's title and signed it to Ray. Ray paid me nothing for my car that he said was going to the junkyard. We were grateful for him to dispose of it for us. The same day he told me it was totaled, Ray offered me a car he was selling- an Infiniti 2013, claiming it had belonged to his wife, for $7,500 cash. I purchased the car and changed the title at the Secretary of State, costing me $450. A month later, I received a call from Paul G. He claimed to be the new owner of my former Camry and he needed my wife to also sign the title, as the car was in both of our names. He asked me what was wrong with the car and I explained what had happened to the Camry and that Ray said it could not be fixed. Paul said that he saw the Camry on Facebook Market Place a few days after the flood and shared with me the Market Place photos stating "This vehicle has no significant damage or problems. Ray had fixed my Camry and put it up for sale. He sold it to Paul for $5,150. On a call with Paul and his friend Kaleb, they told me that the Camry was running perfectly and Ray told him that I was his cousin from Spain, which I am not. This letter is to warn all the neighbors about this shop. Had he been honest and not lied about my Camry being totaled, I would not have needed a new car. I have also incurred additional expenses including: taking the Infiniti to an authorized dealer to have it inspected, $250, needs repairs over $7,000; new title ($450). Not only was my car inspected and repaired in a timely fashion(same day), the cost was the most reasonable repair cost I've had since I've been driving(I'm 66 so 50 years now!!). Ray and the 2 guys on his staff that were working with me were the nicest car service people I have ever encountered. So friendly, helpful, and transparent. And there were no unnecessary add-on service suggestions which completely defines my former experience with just about every other auto service place I've been!!!! DONT NOT GO TO B&R towing in Birmingham. I gave him $7k cash for a jeep. The check engine light came on two hours later. I returned it to be worked on and he sold it and gave me a bad check. Throughout the year he kept saying "I got you I got you, but never had anything, or when he did, I'd drive 4 hours just for him to say his brother is using it in Detroit. I recently bought a used Jeep for my wife and thought that it had a coolant leak, so I brought it to B&R for an inspection. The team was very helpful and friendly and fit my Jeep in on short notice. The team checked it out and found no issues, inspected everything and performed a pressure test. They could easily have tried to sell me on a water pump ($$$) but instead were honest and didn't even charge for the inspection. I suggest never going here...I bought a Jeep from Ray, returned it for him because issues that were happening he had lied about and acted as if he didn't know and that it was in "perfectly good shape" when it was not. So after returning the Jeep (hours of driving to him back and forth) he gives a BAD check, the bank so specifically said "we cannot cash this check." Ray said the IRS was freezing his account that he'd have it figured out...well weeks go by and I suggested the Jeep back if I couldn't get anything out of it aka the money. So then he says the Jeep was in the shop. This went on for a month...I didn't want to have to involve police ect. So no vehicle or money. I blame myself for trusting such a human knowing I have kids and a job and just thinking he was a decent human being! Avoid this place!!! read more

I had damaged my driver's side front bumper running into a concrete pillar in a parking lot. My care was 2 years old, so, i wanted the repair work done perfectly. I called several collision centers, but did not get a high comfort level until i talked with BR. I felt like they really cared about taking care of my car. Ray did not fix what I asked. Transmission was having problems. Well, after a month. I got my Jeep back in WORSE CONDITION. I couldn't even drive it off his parking lot. I tried and just couldn't. He took it back to ' make good on it'! He finally brought it back to me. I tried to drive it Saturday after he brought it. Doing the same. If not worse. Plus Ray REMOVED A two foot section of my 4 wheel drive! Hid it under a sleeping bag in the back. I've tried to contact Ray. I get excuses. His wife was in the hospital. His one flat bed was being worked on. The other apparently caught fire. But Ray refuses to return calls or texts. He told me ' Oh Yeah' Your transmission lines need to be blown out'! He didn't do anything to rectify the problem. I'm out $1,200 for what? I am filling in Small Claims. I'm also checking in Wayne County to see if Ray or any employee is CERTIFIED as a Mechanic in Michigan. I'm guessing NO! I would in NO WAY recommend Ray Bazzi or his R&B ( B & R). My sister and brother in law highly recommended Ray so I brought in my cadillac for service. He was really pleasant to speak with so I thought my car would be good hands. I picked up my car once it was done and realized I was still having same issues as I drove off. The ABS light turned back on and my car was still jerking etc. Ray says bring it back during the week. I bring it again and I get a new charge. He says he had to replace some parts and that this was a separate issue then the first time I brought it in. I thought this was weird. He showed me the parts he replaced and told me that he test drove my car anf its driving "beautifully". I mean he continued to say my car is driving like brand new. So I write him another check. I get in the car and a mile in same thing. I couldnt believe this was happening so Im pretty upset at this point because he told me it was driving beautifully. How can that be when Im driving it and it the breaks start jerking and again abs light, stabile track ets turns on again. I bring it in 3rd time and he knows Im really frustrated so he has the nerve to have a little attitude with me. He hooks his laptop to my car and shows me with his workers that its reading weird diagnosis. At the end of the day I need my car fixed and it doesnt look like they can do it. He is now ignoring my text messages and now Im out $600.00 for parts he replaced which did nothing to make my car drive better. He went from someone I thought could be my longterm mechanic to a scammer. read more

I had originally taken my car in to the dealership down the road to get my brakes done- They were disgusting slime balls and tried to gouge me on the cost. My husband suggested I instead go to B&R, as his family had been going there for years. They got me in right away, were respectful and friendly, charged me 40% less than the dealership was quoting, and finished the job by the end of the day. I went there for repair few times. I gave them few different chances, but their work is never complete or always break something during the repair. For example, AC service, they broke my lower pressure valve cap. They didn't even bother putting high pressure valve cap. I just found out after 2 months as I opened the hood to check on the engine oil level. I'm going to B & R today / tomorrow to ask the cap for high pressure. I just don't like to leave it uncovered. So frustrating... It's common that they forgot (?) to put back the bolts, heatshield, misc. If you have / had a repair done @ B & R, I would check to make sure they didn't put anything back. Perhaps take a before picture before you take it there. That's the most recent experience. I had few other repairs years (5-6 or more) years ago... Now I know why i didn't go there for repair last few years... Reason for 2 stars 1. It's convenient for me. 2. Very poor work. 3. Price is reasonable (not the dealer rate), but it's not cheaper by any mean. I had suspension work, cables, engine replacement.. I always try to be reasonable / mindful for the each review I write. They dropped my car off of a hoist. Replaced three of my doors, didn't tell me. Shortly after I saw that the doors were different shades I called and asked about it. He said he wasn't there when it happened but he would ask his employees. He let me know that my car was dropped off the hoist but he would be able to repair any damages or body issues and maybe even replace the car. I've been dealing with this for a couple of months and he did a couple repairs but the car still makes loud noises when it starts, the doors are still different shades, the doors have dent that have not been fixed and rusting that was not there before it was dropped. Later on I noticed that the fenders were different shades, he denied it, but it was quite obvious. I go in and get certain things done that he says he did but leave with my car doing the thing that he claims he "fixed". Currently, he is ignoring my calls on his personal and work phone seemingly trying to just "forget about it". read more

I was in the hospital for a whole week. When I finally got discharged, my car wouldn't start. In my weakened state, I had to walk home. The next morning I called AAA for help. The AAA driver said it was probably a bad fuel pump, and where did I want it towed? I had no idea, as my previous mechanic had moved away. I'm new to the area and needed to find an honest, reliable mechanic in the area. I found B&R through Yelp and I'm so glad I did! Ray and the other guys at the shop are so friendly and helpful. I brought in my old Honda to get a maintenance light looked at and change my tires for the winter. The light ended up being a reminder to change my timing belt. Ray suggested I do it but was not pushy about it at all. He put on great new tires and gave me an amazing deal on them. He also noticed that my oil was extremely low, and he filled it up for me at no charge. I really appreciated the service at B&R. Everyone there was very honest and did not pressure me to do anything unnecessary. I'm a young woman with very little auto knowledge and I've been to other shops that blatantly try to take advantage of that. I did not experience anything even close to that here. Ray and Joe at B&R are the only mechanics I've ever trusted. I've been here about four times over the course of the past two months for various car woes. If you're like me, you'll understand that I was stressed out, worried, and scared about how much it would cost. Especially driving a german car- which can be expensive to repair. Every time I've been in or spoken with them, they've been patient and discussed potential problems with me, talked about what could have gone wrong and what the symptoms would be if they did. They worked with me to figure out the issues and correct them for a reasonable price. They helped out a couple friends of mine with what they thought might be expensive repairs as well. B&R is great! After going to a mechanic on 11 Mile and Greenfield Road for a couple of years, I decided to find somewhere new. It felt like they were always trying to squeeze more money out of me while not actually caring about whether or not my truck was working well. A friend of mine introduced me to Ray and I'll never go anywhere else. He works so quickly that often, even with an enormous amount of work, I'll get my truck back in 1-2 days. The shop is also always packed with cars, which is a testament to how popular they are! Ray always quotes a fair price and takes the time to get to know his customers. I've been back and forth at least 5 times this summer already. Ray has fixed my exhaust, brakes, air conditioning, given my truck a wheel alignment, replaced all four tires, and more. I don't know what happened to his customer service but this guy has turned out to be a snake. I've been doing business with Ray for a few years now and he was amazing when I first started with him. I don't know what's gone on the past year but I've sent him many customers and his service has gotten worse and worse over the past year, such things as requiring cash payments for service rather than credit card, taking several weeks to even return a phone call or not even return a call at all. Promising vehicles in a week then taking over a month to get it back or even hear from him. He towed my car in for service then told me my car could not be fixed then asked me to sign it over to him. I said no then he would not return a call. He put my car on the street and left it there, where it was ticketed then towed. I received a letter in the mail letting me know where my car was and after several calls he finally answered and blamed it all on me. These guys aren't good, they're great! My water pump was leaking and instead of automatically replacing it they checked for leaky hoses first. A much cheaper option. Unfortunately it was the water pump and they quoted me a price that was almost 50% less than the dealer and they fixed it the same day! I'll always go to them in the future read more

A family member took a car in for a repair; it had very low miles on it for its age. He pampered this car and planned to keep it for a long time. He was quoted $750 to repair it and was told it would be about a week. 3 weeks later he got a call saying it was $1500 if cash or $2000 if credit/debit. He wasn't happy but needed his car. He drove off noticing that the steering wheel was crooked. He also noticed the engine was very rough. When he got home he opened the hood and was shocked to see that his clean engine with the emblem in black on the top was gone and replaced with a filthy engine with grass and dirt stuck to it. Evidently they took his low miles engine and swapped it out for a junkyard engine. Sadly, they are going to get away with it because it would cost more to litigate it than the car is worth. I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

I know many close friends and family who have had their cars serviced at B&R and so I assured my mother that he would be a great reliable guy to purchase a car from. She test drove and had her heart set on a particular car that needed a fender. He verbally confirmed to her that the odometer reading was correct at around 80,000 miles. She asked for a CarFax report which he told her he would not do as part of the car sale, but he did give her a copy of the original title. She noticed that the odometer reading numbers look like they had been changed (I'm looking at it right now and it could not be more obvious that someone changed the numbers by hand). She doesn't have much money and hesitated to spend the money to do the CarFax herself, but decided to do it based on the odometer certification on the title. Rather than seeing the 80,000 miles he verbally confirmed the car had, and what the odometer showed when she drove the car, there is actually upwards of 203,000 miles on the car. He seems to be a very reliable guy to go to for a minor car fix, but I would strongly caution anyone from buying from him. Tampering with the odometer is a huge deal and it seems that, if he wasn't the one who did it himself he had to have known that the odometer was wrong at least, or he would have been fine with giving out the CarFax. read more

My granddaughter bought a car from them 3 years ago. Since then she has had to replace the brakes, replace all the tires, the engine has been running rough for some time now. A vacuum hose had to be replaced as well as the ball joint and lower control arm. Also, the radiator supports are totally rusted away and the rubber shock mounts are the only thing keeping the radiator in. A mechanic recently called this car dangerous to drive. Suggested parking it until the last 3 items are tepaired. The owner has promised to come out and look at the car and possibly buy it back. 2 promises and 2 no shows. If considering buying a car here, have a good mechanic check it out first. read more
