The furnace quit. I called Fanchers and they were prompt in coming out…read more The furnace has codes on it so it's easy to zero in on most problems. I watched as the repairman kept repeating his testing on the electrodes ....... and finally came to conclusion it was a gas valve problem. Then he didn't have the part on the truck so he had to meet someone from the store halfway to get one. I was charged for 2 hrs labor. I felt he was just wasting time. I feel very uneasy about calling them again and will find another service. We'd always had great service when Ron was in charge.

Had a technician come "fix" our AC, paid $650. A day later, didn't work. Called for follow-up, were told they couldn't come for 4 days (after 3 day heat streak) unless we paid a "priority fee." I pushed back angrily, but respectfully. Said this was bad business sense & that we shouldn't have to pay a fee on top of a failed $650 repair. Was told the tech's schedule was full unless we paid the fee for them to "move things around." I said again that's unacceptable treatment of paying customer. Said if they insisted on the "priority fee," I would not work with them & would post on social media/tell friends. I was told "don't threaten me" and "we don't take that lightly." To be clear, this was not meant as a threat, but a statement of consequences. And as they did nothing to resolve things, we are following up with bad review as promised.

They are like, we can send a tech and we will charge you again. I asked again if Its one room it's gotta be a duct and want to see if he could help or if it could be something else and then decide about a tech visit. She is like they are on service and cannot speak but we could send a tech to look at it. She does not even know if the problem can be dealt by them or someone else who deals with ducts but would like to send a tech. That helped to figure how much service oriented they are. I don't know if they are running losses or they are just thirsty, but definitely not service oriented. I do business as well, but never this shameful way. No, I would not recommend Petcosky.

He got a second opinion from Fancher who did a thorough check up and said that nothing was wrong. When he asked Fancher specifically about the heat exchanger, he said that the heat exchanger was actually the best part of the whole furnace. When my grandfather refused to get a new furnace they tried to scare him into getting a new furnace by sending him a letter releasing them of any liability if there was carbon monoxide poisoning. It's months later and there has been no problems with the furnace or carbon monoxide (he has multiple detectors). Clearly this is an example of a popular local business trying to take advantage of the elderly. Hopefully this is an isolated case, but please let it be a lesson to get a second opinion.
