    Chicken Istanbul

Had a great first experience but today felt off. Busy rush but people were getting their orders made in different orders of being served. Took about 30 minutes to get meal after ordering at counter. Asked to pay before picking the custom add ons. And even though we were dining in they wrapped it so I couldn't do my food photography outside as I enjoy. The sandwich itself was solid but by the time we got it we were kind of bummed and behind schedule.

Absolutely amazing food! I have never been dissatisfied or disappointed here. Their chicken shawarma is amazing and the toppings are so fresh! The service is wonderful and the ambiance is great too. Try the Turkish brownies!

I really wanted to like this place. unfortunately it was not that great. The tables were sticky the floors were sticky in general the entire place was dirty. The food was average. The hummus was probably the worst hummus I've ever had in my life. Completely flavorless and tasted water down even though what appeared to be the owner and cookk said he just made a fresh batch and was taking it out of the mixer. I don't think there was any garlic or seasoning in it at all. This is not a sit down type of restaurant. This is more like a fast food restaurant. You order your food and then you take it and sit down yourself. I asked for a glass of water and was told that they don't give water. But that I must buy a bottled water that was almost $2. dollars. Eventually they did give me a glass of water. That's ridiculous a restaurant where you can't get a glass of tapwater. They have fresh lemonades that they make so we bought one of those. When we sat down to drink it, it was a block of ice. It was completely frozen. We were not offered a different one that wasn't completely frozen. This is definitely a typical college town, hole in the wall, small type of local restaurant. I won't be going back.

Such a cute little gem we found. This restaurant has so much charm when you first walk in with their creative menu board that made ordering so much easier. Casual sitting area inside but we opted for the outside sidewalk tables they had. Burgers were amazing, you can taste the high quality of the beef. Definitely come here if you're in the area.

When you order, it's kind of chipotle style where you pick the toppings you want. If you haven't tried kofte before, I highly recommend it. It's a meatball that was a beef/lamb mixture. The kofte pita and Troy is really tasty. The falafel pita was good too, but I there were only about 3 pieces of falafel. I feel like similar restaurants in the area give you pita chips or rice as a side with your pita/wrap, and they don't do that here. It's more a la carte I suppose, which can get pricey. I had the pita and a side of falafel with no drink and it was about $12. One thing I love is that when you walk in, they have a picture of every meal there, which is great for someone who has never tried this type of food. I'm still partial to those other similar Greek/Mediterranean/Turkish restaurants, but I still enjoy Troy. Realistically at a 3.5 probably.

Beef kofte and falafel in a rice bowl with a side of spicy hummus.

The food here is great and fresh. Meat is cooked to order and portions are extremely generous. This lasted 3 meals for me. Kofte Bowl

The food was amazing and the staff was very nice and accommodating. The lamb may have been the best lamb I've ever had in my life.

Best falafel I've had outside Israel. Strongly recommend anything with fresh pita or baba ganoush as well.

I had a fantastic breakfast at my first visit to Lyla's. Everything very fresh and well prepared…read more Perfect poached eggs and a biscuit that was toasted on the griddle. Service was excellent as well. So glad I stumbled onto this place - will be back for sure and will send my friends.

The tile…read morefloor needs to be replaced and the interior entrance looks like someone ripped out a door and didn't have a carpenter refinish it. The walls are decorated with kitchen equipment but not in a tacky way like many chain restaurants. The walls are painted two shades of green and it really looks good. The wait staff is friendly, talkative and attentive. My wife and I were here on a Saturday morning at 8AM and we were the only customers. We left just after 9 AM and no one else has came in. I am not sure how the staff is making money. The menu is huge - do you really need to list 23 omelettes? I would have three or four specialties and then a make your own section. Cut the menu down and make it easier to read/decide. The food gets a mixed review. The pistachio pancakes with cinnimon sugar are good and creative. Highly recommended if you like to be adventurous. My wife got the Eggs Benedict. The sauce...I want to say was broken but I don't think it was made from scratch. If I had to guess I would say it was a combination of premade with butter added to make it "homemade". The poached eggs were over cooked (please see the picture). You want those eggs to be runny (personally I don't like that but said wife does) and these had a jammy center like you would get on Ramen. The portions are big. Too big. Three eggs on Benedict, seven slices of bacon and a large fruit cup. I like to get a value but it has to be hard to make a profit with the price to portion ratio. I am struggling with two or three stars. Two is "do not go there", three is "the place isn't for me but you might like it". I think the owner/chef really cares and is trying. Given that I think they care I am going with three stars. I wish them well but there are some issues they need to work on.

First of all...the workers there are incredibly nice and helpful. The restaurant is very beautiful…read moreand cozy even though I'd only popped in to grab my take out order. And it smelled so good in there... BUT having said that... The food was SO disappointing. I ordered the Lamb Rolled Pita and the Hummus. (See attached photo) of the lamb I could NOT eat. I was so bummed. I was really looking forward to that. Also, I asked for cucumbers be subbed for the tomatoes. The tomatoes were gone which was great, but there were NO cucumbers. ALSO, the menu says that the rolled sandwiches come with fries. (see attached photo) Mine did not. Bummed. It came with this like lemon couscous that I didn't like at all and didn't eat. (see attached photo) So, basically, I only had mostly pita to eat from the sandwich and the hummus. (which was good). Honestly, if there wasn't so much of the lamb that wasn't edible, I wouldn't have posted a review at all despite the fries and the cucumbers being wrong/missed. Very disappointing because this meal supposed to be like a treat.
