Contacted these guys to move some bedroom furniture. We agreed to a 3pm start time to move a bed and 2 tables. I paid the deposit and they confirmed the schedule. 2 hours before the scheduled pick up, I get a text asking if they can come later. I said no, as there was someone waiting for this pick up and had other things to do. They called to let me know they were 10 minutes out around 4:30pm. At this point I canceled the appointment as they were over 1.5 hours late. When I requested a refund, they told me this is how the business works and they would not return the money they did not earn. Irony... I was able to find another mover after this debacle and they were able to complete the move by 7pm the same day. read more

Absolutely awful. Without being too wordy, the move was delayed numerous times and they showed up in the smallest size Uhaul. They could not figure out how to carry and load my furniture. They left it strewn around the apartment public spaces, blocking hallways and the elevator. Worse, I came out at multiple times during the day to find my furniture laid out on the street. They broke a table and permanently damaged my nicest furniture with scrapes, scratches, asphalt stains, and breaks. It took 6 hours to load a modest one-bedroom. I had to call my boyfriend to help us unload because at this point it was late evening and getting dark. We did half the unloading just to get them out of there. It was an absolutely terrible experience. They vaguely apologized and ghosted me after I asked about the damage and a lost box. DO NOT USE. read more

I was looking for movers somewhat last minute, and because of the pandemic, I really didn't want to use a big company. At first glance, with only a few reviews I was a little skeptical, but then I started reading the reviews for Troyka and saw that someone had gone through the same thought process as I did. They had a great experience, so I decided to give them a try and I couldn't have been more pleased. Scheduling was a breeze, as well as the pricing; simple and easy. Initial fixed fee for the truck and two hours of movers, and if the move takes longer than 2 hours, you pay a fixed price for each additional hour. This made it easy to estimate how much I was going to spend at the end of the move. On the day of the move, even though they running a bit behind, they communicated that delay and gave me updates as to how close they were to my place. Movers were kind and very attentive. Both movers were very careful with my furniture (which was bulky and so heavy), and I don't think they ever touched the walls. They had to drive 30 minutes to the final destination, and they were there on the dot. No detours or stalling to get more hours out of the move. Both movers wore their masks at all times, even when it was scorching hot outside. I never felt like I was put at risk, so that was a huge plus in my books. I'm giving 3 stars only for the crew that helped us move - Joel, Edwin and Luis. They were the best: on time, took care to wrap just about every piece of furniture up and were very polite and professional! The office staff however could use a bit more sprucing up when it comes to transparency: when I emailed and called to schedule the October 8th move on short notice, I was super appreciative that they could fit us in same week. I paid my $100 deposit via Venmo and I got my verbal confirmation of a Saturday date. The next day, I was told I couldn't get Saturday anymore because they had another scheduled move that same Saturday in the morning, so to prevent the overcharging of my time, they didn't want to do two moves in one day and crew would need to be rested for my move - not the worst thing in the world, but still a bit of a pain that we would have just one day to move and unpack before the week started up again - thus the reason I wanted Saturday. Moving day came and went great, no issues there as I mentioned the crew we got were great and very nice, but then when it came time to pay for the services, there was/is an issue. I provided my cc number over the phone to Alex, was told the total that I would be charged (did not include the $100 deposit I put down) and that was that. A few days later, I'm checking my cc statement and see that the total charge of the move is $70 more than what was discussed over the phone! (I literally did the math with Alex over the phone to make sure the hourly rate was calculated correctly). When I called to ask about the extra $70, the woman on the phone said that was a 5% service charge that was being included for using a cc to pay for services. When I advised her no one mentioned a service charge when I paid the day of the move, she said she would have Alex call me back. After 2 days (and up to now) I have yet to speak to Alex. I wrote two emails asking for a call back to discuss a refund of the service charge since it wasn't disclosed before hand, but crickets. The moving crew is the only reason I'm not chalking this up to a bad experience, but be wary of secret charges at the end of your move - they did not provide any kind of contract to sign or written estimate you approve before hand - just what they remember to say or email you. read more

I would highly recommend Troyka Moving! It was a very smooth and easy process to work with all employees from the phone reception to the guys with the truck! Troyka helped with all aspects and my husband and I were given a quote to go by so we knew how much we were going to pay. Troyka Moving is awesome! I was moving yesterday, which is, as many of you know, stressful enough. It wasn't the first time I was moving, and honestly, I had PTSD after my previous experience with the movers I had used before. So, I was frightened that something would absolutely go wrong with the movers. Troyka Moving changed my opinion COMPLETELY! The staff was extremely professional and helpful. They were on time (I know right?), the truck was crystal clean, they even used all kinds of fancy equipment to carry my staff, treated everything with an extreme level of care... I mean, the positivity! How can one possibly have a smile on their face while carrying heavy stuff, sweating like a cloud??? That was how the Troyka employees were! They were extremely positive, friendly, funny and made the experience fun and less painful. When we reached my destination, there was a handyman, who was fixing my front door lock. He needed something to complete the job, but he didn't have the necessary equipment with him. And, you know, the Tryoyka employees provided their big box full of tools and even helped the handyman fixing the door. DO NOT HIRE. If I could, I would give zero stars. They destroyed my new TV and badly damaged my solid wood bed frame and dresser, my center tables, my credenza, and ripped parts of my mattress. They also lost a tall storage cabinet some time during the move. I had a one bedroom move and Troyka sent two men and a small truck. It took them FIVE HOURS just to load, and because their truck was too small, they weren't even able to load all the stuff. Because it took them so long, my elevator reservation at the new apartment timed out, and the movers decided to unload the next day (I agreed to this). In the meantime, my husband and I had to stay in a hotel, because we had no other options. The following day, two different men showed up, and it took them 3 and a half hours to unload. Meanwhile, we had to rent a uhaul on our own to go pick up the remaining items in our old apartment that hadn't fit in their tiny truck. In total, it took EIGHT AND A HALF HOURS for a one bedroom move 12 minutes away, and I had extensive damages to my property. They gave us a $275 discount on the moving price, but that's the least they could do after all that. We suffered about $2000 in damages. Save your money, save your furniture and goods, and save your self. Don't go with them for a move. read more

Arrived 2 hrs late because the moving company had overbooked appointments that day. There was no apology or offer of a discount. When I politely asked the movers if they could try to work more efficiently because the reserved time for the loading dock had passed and the building management was getting annoyed, they were quite rude in response. I also ended up moving a fair bit of the furniture to speed up the process. This was such a stressful experience that I will hire another company the next time that I move. read more

They were great! I had a pretty small move, just one bedroom, and they were quick and efficient, finishing the move in 2 hours. There were a couple times when drawers or shelves fell out of a desk, and the drawer ended up broken (it was a cheap desk), but they brought in some tools, and fixed it back up as if nothing had ever happened. They were also flexible for scheduling and time, and the price was very reasonable. Great value! read more

July 10th I moved from the Wharf to the Navy Yard in Washington, DC. I put a bid out to several moving companies on Yelp, and all responded. I'll be honest, at first I was hesitant about using Troyka because they only had a couple of reviews. However, Aisel (booking customer service) was so prompt at getting back to me, so flexible, and so easy to work with I decided to take a leap and use them. Alex (lead mover) and 2 other movers arrived right at 8am, were incredibly kind and efficient, and got the job done. They moved my entire one bedroom apartment without a single bump of the wall, without a single item breaking, and all with a generous smile! Their rate was competitive with other small companies and WAY better than larger companies like JK Moving or College Hunks. I highly recommend using Troyka - you'll get efficient, professional, and friendly service. They will be my first call if I move again. read more

I got on yet looking for a moving company and this moving company appeared I put all the questions that they asked me I answered all the questions and was quoted a price when she didn't realize she had made a mistake as to size of the property she didn't went back and said that was not the price that she quoted me first and try to give me another price I'd rather not deal with them I think the price was outrageous and it was very unprofessional for her to give me one price and then gave me this GREAT BIG price after that. I am really disappointed with this moving company. The worst moving experience. They did arrive 20 mins before the arrival time and there was a delay in the start time due to the loading dock being occupied. However, I was shocked when the two guys did not speak any English! They used their phones to translate which caused delays in the move. We had to get someone on the phone to translate instructions for them. They did not bring any tools with them to break things down or put it back together, luckily I had tools. They didn't wrap my wood marble dining table, which now has damages. My box spring has holes in the bottom of it, my dresser has dents in it, they took an hour to get to the final stop (only takes 25 mins), they were milking the clock. Instead of asking where things go, because they CANT SPEAK ENGLISH, they put stuff all over the place and now I am missing a lamp shade and a trash can. Oh and one of the guys dropped my mirror (luckily it didn't break because of the frame). I am disappointed with this moving company! read more

Troyka Moving did an excellent job on my Move. From beginning to end the entire experience went very smoothly. I had a one bedroom apartment to move from Wheaton to Bethesda. They were professional, efficient and extremely careful with all of my furniture. They wrapped my sofa and my mattress in preparation for the move and while they were very fast, they were also extremely cautious with my furniture. In the end there wasn't any damage to any walls or any of the furniture. Their prices are very competitive and I would highly recommend them to anyone planning a move in the metro DC area. read more
