Not great beds, no towels and the walls are paper thin. Housekeeping stripped the beds but didn't make them and expected the guest to do it. The mattress was thin and uncomfortable and full of stains. The walls I couldn't sleep because it was noisy next door and the fridge gave off a loud sound. I could hear people next door talking until 4 am and couldn't sleep. One of the top five worst experiences here. Please go somewhere else. read more

Very, very, basic, which is fine if that's all you want. I don't need a luxurious hotel, but I'd like a little more than what Tru offers. Very clean, so no complaints there. The standard room is more like a standard bedroom with very little extra space for anything. Hilton properties are always nice and it's clear they're branching out to attract a new market. Not a fan, just checked in. A king size bed for 2 people, and there is one desk chair in the e tire room. Two overnight bags and we can barely find spots to put both. Mine is on top of the a/c unit, my husbands is on top of refrigerator. No coffee maker, no microwave. Bare bones, and decor reminds me of a childs room. As one person put it, room is so small you have to go outside to change your mind. The outside and inside are decorated to attract kids, not adults. Guess if you have young children they'd love it not so much for anyone who wants a little extra (anything!) while traveling. read more

I am giving this place 5 stars because this hotel totally deserves it! We unfortunately had some home repair work being done and needed to stay on a hotel close to home and close to my kids school & needed to have a DOG FRIENDLY place !!! (( I have three tiny itty bitty chihuahuas)) that I had to bring with us . I called 5 different hotels in the area . 2 out of the 5 allowed dogs - but for like $50/dog per night! Heck no! So I called tru and asked about dogs and the guy who answered said " we welcome your dogs & we don't charge for them " I was so excited!!! When we arrived the place was clean, and super colorful decor down in the lobby. It has a pool table , tons of kids board games , a bunch of cool places for the kids to sit , eat breakfast, play games , and there's also several giant TVs and our kids watched full length movies while my husband and I played pool. The breakfast was not anything fancy. But it's what you would expect from a hotel . And it worked out perfect because my kids got to have toast, eggs, cereal, waffles for breakfast before we would leave to go to work& school. They do have a pool- it was small...no hot tub. They do not have a laundry facility on site. (( but they did tell us to drive to the Hilton down the street and they did let us use theirs) The rooms were very small but that's okay. It had giant TVs and wall hooks to hang stuff. It was perfect for what we needed it for :) Anytime we needed anything- front desk was happy to help. It's walking distance to San tan mall and a. Inch of stuff to do and lots of good places to eat . If you are coming to visit with dogs I highly recommend coming:) The beds were kind of hard , so we tossed and turned a little but for some people that may be the way they like to sleep . He said our system is down and wifi isn't working !!! How is this my problem ??? I told him call your manager . He calls his mana her tells her that the guest would like to speak to you Nicole refused to speak to me . Now it's been 45 mins I'm not in the room I paid for , I called hotels.com and corporate to report Nicole that refused for the second time that she did not want to speak to me . James is having anxiety and doesn't know what to do . A gentleman walked in and said I'll take my money elsewhere if she's showing you her reservation and receipt and you don't want to help her ? I'll go next door . James is talking me into booking another reservation? I already booked one ! Nicole is no help . Tell me how you have a manager that won't help her employee or guests? How is it she had a position of management??? I booked this reservation 2 hrs ago and I'm still not in a room and calling hotels.com - corporate sitting outside in the freezing cold - mind you I have chemo tomorrow and I need my rest and Nicole is the reason I'm in very much pain and anxiety. This is probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Customer service rep didn't know how to check us in and took an hour to figure it out after us making a 5 hour drive. Then they charged us after we checked out saying that someone had smoked in the room, but no one smoked in our group of 4 rooms. Had an opportunity to stay here for one night as a Mother's Day present from my husband. Ideally, I live 2 minutes away from the hotel & I have seen the progress of the hotel being built from start to finish and have been excited to try out this new place in my beloved town. I was excited as I knew the concept was taking on a contemporary fun design. I felt the colors and layout were especially welcoming for the guests with families as Gilbert is a family town. I was especially delighted to see the amount of ports to plug in phones, laptops, etc, which is a great design feature for a brand new hotel. Okay so let's talk about pros and cons. PROS: - fantastically soft beds and sheets - love the liquid dispensers in the shower and by the bathroom sink - so glad there are no hotel curtains but still have the ability for blackout shade, nice and clean design - always love a free breakfast that offers more than just bagels & cereal - love the clothing hook design on the wall, ability to lay out outfits for upcoming days - By far the best hair conditioner outside of a salon I have used in a hotel CONS: - no hook or hand towel ring by the sink, so do I just throw it on the countertop so it could collect germs? - would be fantastic if there was an additional second floating shelf above the toilet for toiletries so they don't litter the bathroom countertop - would really like an ice machine to be available on every floor instead of just the first floor. - if you're going to offer a breakfast bar that's free and touting an abundance of toppings, you might want to add fresh strawberries and blueberries as an option. To have on top of cereal, oatmeal, waffles or just by itself. Some of us are on a strict diet & cannot eat all the carbohydrates. So currently that just leaves us with eggs and an apple. - If the pool is going to be small, please make it more aesthetically pleasing. There is a fence surrounding the pool with a view of the parking lot and the surrounding apartment buildings. Please plant boxwood hedges or ANYTHING on the outside of the fence! - all of the hotel staff wear t-shirts. I find this extremely unprofessional. At least upgrade to polo shirts. I understand that Gilbert is a fun family friendly town and things are relaxed here, but if you are part of the hospitality industry you need to promote a more professional attire. - there is absolutely no artwork in the rooms! I would love to see some shots of downtown Gilbert, Arizona cacti, local restaurants etc! I would like to come here more often with my family as a fun change from our house, however I would probably truly enjoy the experience more if all of the above cons were attended to. read more

Conrad Hilton would be spinning in his grave if he knew his name was is attached to this "Tru" line of hotels. While I can only speak to the one in Gilbert AZ I think they are all designed the same. When my wife and I checked in we both thought it was set up and looked like a clean college dorm, the room is so tiny the king bed leaves barely enough room to get around it. To say minimalist is being kind. Want to hang something in the closer? We don't need no stinking closets! Instead three hooks on the entry wall and a Ten inch metal rod out of the wall to hang anything. And the drawer space? We don't need no stinking drawers! No dressers or drawers. Instead a composite board on hollow metal legs along one wall. Night stand? Settle for another 12" board screwed into the wall on one side and a plastic mushroom table on the other. Soap in the bathroom? Plastic tubes on the wall that say "squeeze gently " to dispense soap and shampoo like a large tube of toothpaste. The lobby snack bar was primarily Snickers Bars, packs of M&Ms and small containers of ice cream. There was one bowl of bananas and always coffee and tea available. Oh, and a pool table. (I keep thinking college dorm) On the good side the staff was very friendly and courteous and seemed to try really hard. Also my impression was the hotel is kept incredibly clean....until we came into our room the second day and two large roaches scampered across the floor to the shelter of under the bed. My room was small. There was no dresser. There was a place to hang close but it wasn't a closet. If you want to watch Netflix or YouTube, well, there's no streaming. The bed was lumpy and the pillows was cheap looking. The most disappointing thing about my stay was their AC. I run hot and I suffer from hot flashes, I had the AC on ALL NIGHT.. Not a good thing. It was so loud that it kept me up all night. When I mentioned to the receptionist, I was told that that was their #1 complaint. They suggested to turn off AC. That was their solution. The price that I paid did not reflect my stay there. Im so upset what I paid and all I got was I'm sorry. As for breakfast, go somewhere else. read more

Poor customer service and unprofessional. It's such a bummer because the hotel looks so nice and I really wanted all of my family from out of state to stay there for our wedding but they will no longer be getting my business. First of all getting ahold of the hotel is nearly impossible because they don't answer their phone, I left multiple voicemails to their corporate office which says they will have someone contact you based on your request and location but they don't. To get an event proposal I had to go online and do it myself. Their salesperson Claudia was my contact for the room block. The original event proposal they sent had rates at $112/117 and I called twice to confirm before she went out of town but she ignored my calls and when she got back said rates were around $122. When I asked about the original dates they gave me she said they change daily and hiked them up to $133/ 136. It doesn't sit well with me that they didn't honor the original proposal they sent through when I reached out multiple times for assistance. And their rates went up because she went out of town and didn't return my calls before hand, sounds like a poor way to conduct business to me. All of my out of town guests will be staying elsewhere. read more

2 hours before checkout, maintenance knocks on the door while I am in the shower. My girlfriend opens the door and they insist that there was a notice they would be working in the room today and would need to work on the A/C unit. I take a peak out of the shower because I am wondering who is at the door and find the maintenance person putting a door stop on the door to prevent it from closing. He then realizes there is someone in the shower and says he will come back, leaving the door open. There was no notice on the door and no warning. They worked in our room for 45 minutes while we were in the middle of getting ready for the day to checkout. At checkout we ask to speak with the manager who only says "Sorry that happened. There should have been a notice slipped under your door last night. We really just want to get this work done." Not a response I am very happy with. There was no notice and the manager didn't really care all that much that their notice was not put out. Not planning on returning to the Tru by Hilton in the future. read more

Bed is comfy. Water pressure on 3rd floor good. Rooms/hallways/common areas are clean. The two reasons for my missing star is that the channel guide wasn't working, so it would have been nice to have a printed channel guide than flip through every channel for a few mins. Also, the free breakfast should have been a plus, but the fact that there was nothing hot available (yeah, I get it..pandemic). It almost should be like they should eliminate the breakfast part and lower the room cost $5 or something. It was a bit disappointing with just a brown bag of a granola bar, yogurt, muffin & an juicing orange. Its not even the oranges that are meant to be eaten. Its the yellowish ones that are hard to peel but have an amazing amount of sweet juice inside. I didn't bring my juicer on this trip.*insert eye roll* They also have advertisements all over the hallways/elevators/TV ads/common areas that the coffee bar is 24 hours. It isn't. Only 4 hours out of the day. Again, a bit disappointing. Last thing is that the toiletries are dispensed out of wall-mounted containers. Each one, including hand soap says "squeeze gently". Now, it basically takes a vice grip to dispense any liquid out of these thing. My friend and I had to work in tandem when either one of us had to wash hands. Besides that, it was a good stay for the most part. Good area. I would be back, and I would recommend. read more

Everything was good until around 10:30 pm on Monday when someone was running back and forth and dragging things. There was no way to sleep so we called the front desk. They saw they would go check it out nu it continued past midnight. I tried calling back and one time they didn't answer and next time I tied calling they put me on a hold for a long time. I immediately left the hotel at 530AM because I no longer felt safe. Pam laughed as if the situation was comical. Pam woke up the wrong person and didn't take responsibility for her wrong actions, nor sympathize to my inconveniences. Pam is the exact opposite of what you have advertising on your glass doors. Very disappointed in this hotel. We only stayed one night and discovered dried blood (not ours) on the sheets in the morning when we pulled the covers back looking for a lost stuffed animal. Pretty gross find. Discovered hair conditioner bottle in shower was completely empty. Brought up with girl at front desk and she didn't seem too concerned. The room was clean and they also had fancy lotion, soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash dispensers. They all smelled so good! Facility is fun with great style. However every staff member we met lacked customer service. We were basically told off by the front desk clerk because we weren't ok with a situation that happened. We were ignored by numerous other staff. I didn't see the stafff greet or engage well with any other customers as well. The personal working were fantastic and friendly. The rooms are very small. Me and my wife had to shuffle around each other to get around. If you turn the TV on you have to turn your head side to side to see the whole TV. There is no coffee pot in the room which is a big let down. The coffee downstairs in lobby is good but they have cups from another hotel. The soap on the bathroom walls and shower (liquid soap/shampoo) is interesting as they have big squeeze jugs for each. I can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was. We moved to Arizona from California and had to burn two days before we got our keys. The staff were beyond accommodating to my family of 6. They were courteous and always made sure we were taken care of. The facility was so clean and very well maintained. We have stayed at this hotel for the last 2 nights. While I understand the concept, I don't feel like this hotel was designed well. The bedrooms are small. They are pet friendly a plus in my book but if you have a dog in the room, you will have to step over them all the time. I went to breakfast this morning and the eggs and sausage was undercooked. There are not coffee pots in the room so you are forced to go to the lobby for coffee. That being said, the staff are all wonderful. A few tips: put coffee pots in the rooms, have a designated dog walking area with bags to pick up after your dog and a trash can. Have a designated smoking area with ashtray and seating. Super disappointed in our stay and the customer service at this hotel. For one the pictures are deceiving, the rooms are small, hallways and elevators smell like smoke and beds were not comfortable.. Upon check in my husband and I had just received a $100 HILTON gift card for our wedding towards our $116 stay. The first girl to check us in told us to bring it back when we check out, while checking out the front desk agent told us our credit card we used to book the reservation had already been charged the full amount, she was not able to figure out how to make the gift card work but told us she would handle it and make sure we were only charged the difference of the $16 dollars. Come monday I still have the full charge on my bank account, they are saying the gift card is being denied. Luckily I took a picture of the front and pulled it up on the american express website and sure enough the status is Active and it has a $100 balance. At this point no one at the hotel has been able to help me I just keep getting "sorry it doesnt work" and a "nothing we can do about it" response, even after trying to speak to managers ETC. and on top of it all, no one knows where the gift card is at. So we currently paid 100 dollars more than expected for a hotel we were not satisfied with and have no answers to where our gift card is or why they cant seem to make an actual HILTON american express pre paid gift card work with an active $100 balance. So at this point we are out $200 . I can not believe this level of hospitality service and how they treat their customers. read more
